When Vicky Rhoades inherits her absentee father's cabin, her friends convince her to take them camping. She agrees, planning on using the opportunity to lose her virginity before she and her boyfriend go off to separate colleges.
As the teens engage in heavy drinking, drug use and sexual proclivities, a man stalks them, hiding in the woods, waiting for his chance to pick them off one by one in a twisted plot of revenge.
In this literary take on classic 80's slasher films, a young woman struggles to maintain her self-respect, her friendships and her very survival.
A young girl who has been pretty shelled by her mom goes out for a weekend getaway with friends from school. What starts out as a fun couple days turns to hysteria and terror in a very short time. As you see everything unfold before your eyes and leaves you wanting more.
Extremely Gory , and Horrific... Everything I hoped for and more .You won't know which way to run or what will happen next. it's chilling . I would love to see this made into a movie because it reminds me of the greats that were made in the 70's & 80's.
Just when I thought Ed Bar’s work couldn’t get any better, he comes along with Vile Inheritance. From the very first page to the shocking end, you will be hooked. This had me wondering the whole time who was it? Just when I thought I figured it out, Ed throws in another twist. This book had me rooting for this one to survive, and this one to suffer. Which is amazing that a book can make me feel like that, because I am not one for wishing ill on others. That to me just shows how Ed can get inside your head and make you be one with his characters. That ending though. Seriously, he best be working on book two. If you have read Ed’s books before, you would think it’s not a hea ending. This is just one of those times where Ed has yet again messed with what I thought I knew about his writing. If someone were to tell me that Ed is capable of writing an ending like this, I would have said they were mistaking him for someone else. He does not write like that. I would have been wrong. Very wrong. I hope Ed Bar never loses his passion or inspiration for writing. The world needs more books like his in that genre.
Nope no spoilers for you, get this book and find out for yourself on what happens! So all I’m going to say about Vile Inheritance is that it’s utterly fantastic! And I absolutely love how Mr. Bar’s mind works when it comes to writing his books because he keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next in each story that he writes. He’s a awesome mad genius with his story weaving, which is probably why I inhale his books every chance I get! So you got it, I do recommend this book but don’t forget to strap yourself into a chair before you start reading it otherwise you’ll fly out when you take the whirlwind of a crazy but amazing ride that this book gives!
This book is a perfect read for anyone that likes the 80/early 90s horror films. In my opinion it reads like that. Vicky never knew her father. When he died he left her a cabin in the woods. Just turned 18 she wants to spend a weekend there with her "friends". It has all what you would get with a typical movie with some extra twists thrown in to throw you off.
I absolutely loved this book..Over sexed teens,a cabin in the woods and a murderous killer.. What could go wrong??..Ed writes characters that you kinda wanna see get killed and let me tell you their deaths are fantastically gruesome..If 80s slasher movies are your thing then you'll love this..
The title of this caught my eye because I love a good horror. I'm impressed for a couple reasons one, this was a first for me by this author. Two because rarely I feel an actual thrill from a horror but this one got me. I enjoyed it immensely. It ended different than I thought it would, but I was not disappointed at all.
5 big fat bloody stars!! Ed Bar is still a bit of a new author to me but with each book of his that I read, I want more!! This book was dark, twisted and sick in all of the very best ways. It wasn't like anything I have ever read before and I'm sure I'll never read anything quite like it again.
Ed Bar pulls you right in from the start with this book! If you like blood, gore and all the nit and gritty, you will love this book of ultimate betrayal and death. Great job!!
Uh, yeah..... NO! This was like a slasher movie, which I did enjoy, but at some point I was convinced it also follow the low budget slasher movie trend that has little content to fill open spots with hot scenes... and then throw in a little murder here and there... again, NOPE!
This is an incredible story that is unforgettable! Right from the very beginning, it pulled me in and I just wanted to keep reading. It’s a page turner! I definitely recommend this story as a must read!
