The Tree of Values by Deepa Iyer is specially written for children. The plot revolves around different stories which are inspiring. This is my first read of this author. The cover page is penny plain.

The teachings and values seem to be lost nowadays. We are surrounded by wicked and selfish people, but at the same time, there are good people around us too to brighten our life. Deepa Iyer's stories have that essence. There are positivity and a lesson about life.

The stories are beautifully illustrated and tell the importance of having a good heart and character. The language is plain sailing without any grammatical errors. Through this book, one can learn lessons about punctuality, humanity, kindness, patience, forgiveness, and many more. This kind of book leaves an impact on children's mind, and they grow up with love and respect for others in their heart. I like the simplicity of stories and moral at the end. This book is must read for children.

QQTD: What is the one thing you would change about you if given a chance?? Comment below :)

Review Segments:

Plot: The Tree of Values is a children's book with a collection of short stories that each end with a moral. We have delved ourselves around so much hatred and selfishness that there is more vice overvalue. We have created a world where the evil is rewarded and good is ignored. Most of the stories revolve around these values that distinguish good from the bad.

Writing Style /Readability: I think this book is more children-oriented and children up to the age of 15 can read it. As a matter of fact considering how adults falter with values, even they should pick up this short read.

The writing style is very simple and smoothly narrated.

What I liked: The originality in writing is what drew me the most, since it is different from all the commercial moral education. The book somewhat reflects the telltale of the authors own experiences. The author has beautifully explained the importance of having a good character.

What I disliked: Since the book focuses on shaping values for children and how they should be growing up, they mainly focus on a few. I would have loved it if the author also narrated instances where children were taught not just to respect and love their family or elders, differentiate between the vile and noble. But also drew attention on loving nature and protecting it, also speak about the omnipresence of God. I think these values once imbibed in children helps calm down hostility and breed harmony. That automatically makes the child generous and the world a better place.
Since books are very important tools, it's only through such writing that parents and children be made to rethink and act.

" Are you not happy with my prayers?" as shes rightly mentioned. we spend too much time only in pleasing the Creator that we forget to workship him selflessly. We have been always trying to please everyone with some motive. Can we once take a moment to introspect?

Book- The Tree Of Values
Author- Deepa Iyer
Publisher- Notion Press
Pages- 68

The Tree Of Values is a children's book with a collection of 15 short stories with the central idea of teaching morals at the end of the story.

We're in a world where there's more vice than value, where people are getting more selfish day by day, where the value of honesty and integrity are ignored, greed and immorality is on rise.

All the 15 stories through the stories explain the importance of having good character, having faith on God, respecting and caring for our elders, how much our parents work to nurture and care for us, the value of a teacher in our life, using our presence of mind, being positive, trying to help everyone and refrain from hurting anyone, the importance of being humble and kind, accepting the good and the bad, and the value of punctuality, integrity, honesty, patience and forgiveness.

Kids are like moulds, they get the shape based on how you design them. It's very important to teach and learn these basic things that helps us keep our heart, mind and soul clean.

There are a lot of moral based stories for kids in the market, but what makes this one different ? These stories are very different than other moral based stories I had read earlier, and from the conversation with the Author, I got to know these stories are based on her own experience. With simple yet beautiful illustrations, the short stories are impactful. These are very simple and easy to read and the narration is smooth. The writing is such that it can be used for role plays hence, helping the kids learn better. This is a must read for kids.

I was not an avid reader in my childhood. Infact, i was not even a reader back then. That's the reason i don't even remember the name of my favorite children's book. Lately i got a chance to read a children's book i.e The Tree of Values by Deepa Iyer. Now there's nothing bad in reading a children's book, if you would ask me, i would always suggest to read atleast two or three such books in a year. They are usually short in length so you could easily finish it in one sitting. These books have always something meaningful to teach us. Written in an uncomplicated language, they sometimes teach us the very basic lessons we fail to recognize in our day-to-day life.

The Tree of Values has focussed on the essence of good character in a person's life. From highlighting the magnanimity of the universal being, God to stressing on the significance of seven virtues - patience, honesty, punctuality, integrity, kindness, humility and forgiveness, the book has covered almost all habits that a child should adopt in order to become a good human being. Also through her simple and straightforward stories, the author has tried to relate one's duty towards her mother, teacher, friends and elders. At times when we get drifted from our moral values, such books serve as a gentle reminder and help us in bringing ourselves back to the track.

My Rating- 3.5/5

The tree of values is a short, children book written in an attempt to illustrate the importance of good character in our current value conflicted society.

Deepa Iyer has illustrated beautifully, explaining the values one should imply in their life. It is a collection of 15 short stories reflecting on keeping faith in God, respecting parents, elders, teachers, showering love upon friends and teaching us lessons on kindness, humanity, honesty, integrity, patience, forgiveness and positivity.

Even though this book is written for children, there is no wrong if an adult delve into it. These are the values everyone should imply in their life to be a better person.

The tree of values is my first book by the author. And I'm not disappointed. I liked the stories and the morals at the end. It is written in a very simple language, kids can easily understand and it is a very easy read.

I'm going to gift this to nephew and niece.

The tree of Values is a collection of 15 short stories for Children. It is aimed to inculcate good values and character into the younger generation. Characters in the book bring to life the precious virtues needed to evolve as a good human being.
Opinion-
It's short .
Price is also good.
There are cute illustrations, which I wish was in colour. I love coloured books, so does children.
The stories are innovative and engaging. Reminded me of my Moral science classes which I used to have when I was a kid.
The language is simple, even a kid in class 2 can read and enough it without any adult help. I liked that part.
Simple yet attractive presentation, it's aimed to inspire both children and adults alike.

This the second book I read by the same author after Makhanchor. Again, a book of 60 pages, for children's learning.
.
It contains 15 short stories, each ending with a moral. The writing style is very simple for any child to understand, and the images inside make the read interesting. The author has tried to incorporate every moral trait for a good character building. A few of my favorites are:
1. Mothers are God's gift to every child. A mother's sacrifice and boundles love for her children are immeasurable. Always love and respect your mother and ensure you spend time with her.
2. Always be kind. Since, what goes around, comes around.
3. Be humble. Never be arrogant. Everyone deserves your respect.
.
Reading this book felt like going back to the time when we used to have a period in school for Moral Science, where such books were read.

The tree of values
By Deepa Iyer

It is a short book especially written for children which consists of fifteen chapters. Every tale is intricately woven and gives a moral for the children to learn. In the contemporary scenario, learning these values is as important as learning any skill. This book is a really effective tool to imbibe basic moral principles.

Different stories depict different important aspects of human life like the importance of a teacher, the irreplaceable role of mother in one's life, the significance of respecting our elders and many more.

The book is very appealing for the kids and a great source to understand the values. Ms. Iyer has thoughtfully plotted the stories and made them likeble for the children.

How can one be well...when one suffers morally? Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace

I can recall a memory from my childhood when there used to be a separate lecture and separate subject of "Moral Values". What we learn in our childhood is going to be with us for the entire lifetime. I really along with my entire class love that subject and that thing truly help us make our career. So, this book has 15 stories and every which shows the importance of values in life and I can say this is the thing which matters the most. Book beautifully portrays the values imbibed by our parent, guardian, teachers. The book also shows some value which should be inherit in all of us. I must say this book is not only for children but I would say we all can learn a lot from this lovely masterpiece.

A collection of 15 short stories with an aim to teach moral to the readers.

Ya some may classify it under children's book, but there's nothing wrong if adults too read it once(they need it). I feel the teens now a days also ought to refresh their basic teaching.

The book contains all the basic morals we have learnt in childhood, but the stories are different and that's what makes this book unique in its own kind.

And I feel there's no children book or adult book or teen book, a book is a book for all, that's made for any reader.

Best lines

26. Never reject anybody based on their faults. For virtues and faults are part of every human being. Honour the virtues and ignore the faults.

43. Punctuality: 3 hours too soon than a minute too late.

Virtuous!
This is a short book but the content is great and will even give you a bit of nostalgia it is like one of those storybooks which you used to read as a kid and I read this one like a kid very slowly and carefully it is divided into short stories which end with a moral towards the end leaving you with a learning experience and an amazing opportunity to get in touch with your roots again.
To learn those timeless values again and remind ourselves of what we were taught as kids moreover it is an amazing read for kids. I think adults would like it better as it gives them a chance to get a hold of their morals.
It is a good option for leisure reading, a light book like this should be read once in a while.
Overall, I would give it a 3.5/5.

This book has 15 chapters of moral values and a must read of kids under 10 .

I remember I had moral science classes when I was a kid where little anecdotes taught us the basic and most importantly humane traits like the value of honesty, the beauty of friendship, et cetera. This is one of those books which you should definitely get for your kid.
The book is full of short stories which will teach your kid how it is important to incorporate such values which make us a good human and a responsible citizen too.
I sent it to my niece for the very reason. Also, the short stories keep it interesting and can help your kid develop the habit of reading too. In short, a valuable book.

It's really good stuff for children. It's fair and a good try from Deepa Iyer. She will take children under her wings with her adored bedtime Stories.
She comes with positive thoughts to teach children with a simple presentation. As a tree has many branches this book has expressed little more values, such as pious, courage, compassionate, kindness, real fair, humility, patience, etc. She tried her best to tell stories for children. But it could have been more interested rather fully rounds in order to teach moral.
Recommend: 15years and below.
It can be taken by adult forsake of narrating the stories to children...

It is a collection of 15 short stories. The stories talk about different moral values needed to evolve as a good human being. For instance, kindness, humility, patience and honesty. Some stories are about the relationships/people that play a crucial role in our lives like teacher, mother and friends. The book also has cute small illustrations.

The book is appropriate for children aged between 7-15 years. The language is simple. The choice of words is apt as they can be understood by the children and at the same time, they can learn new words too.😊

At the end of every story, a moral is given like every other moral story book. As a teacher I feel moral should not be spoon-fed. Reader should be free to take whatever the lesson he/she wants to, from the story. But that is just my point of view.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants direct, short stories filled with moral values.

As a child, I know I would have loved this book.❤️

This book though written for children contains morals and values which can be beneficial for adults too. It has been after a long time that I happened to pick up book designed specially for children and I absolutely loved it because every story was value centered and the illustrations added a beautiful touch to this book. The narration is simple and flowing - good enough to keep the children engaged in the stories.
There are total of 15 stories and though every story has a different plot they all point towards the importance of having a good heart and a strong character necessary to lead a stable and joyous life.
Stories are short, beautiful and appropriate for children. They'll love reading it.
