There's so much wrong with this book I can't even write sum it all up. First of all, this book is supposedly written in the author's perspective as a psychiatrist and the strange cases he's encountered. However, when I looked up the author, all it said about his career is that he's a writer and an engineer. I don't understand. Another thing that bothered me is that the stories were written in a very casual way, presenting facts about psychiatry and mental disorders that are generally known like it's something unheard of, and they also sound like they've been taken write out of the first paragraph of a Wikipedia page. Also, the author talked about supernatural occurrences in one of the stories and he made it sound like it was an idea he completely rejected, but later on accepted after he talked with a ghost on the phone (wtf?). I mean, I get that he is a mystery/thriller/science fiction writer, but why state that these stories are true and that he is a psychiatrist in the introduction when he is not? Even if this was done on purpose I don't appreciate it at all because I'm pretty sure most of the people who read this didn't bother looking all of this up and just believed the whole thing. While I was reading the book, something kept reminding me of another book called 禺賱賮 兀爻賵丕乇 丕賱毓賱賲. When I was looking the author up, I discovered that he wrote that book as well! No wonder I hated both. I've written a review about it a while back and it was pretty much the same. Actually, when I bought this book the author was in the book fair selling it, and I even got his signature. Had I known it was him, I would've told him this face to face. Maybe he could've explained why he did what he did. Anyway, I don't mean to sound mean or anything, but this is my honest review.
And by the way, if anyone who is familiar with this author and has read his books and can clear up what I mentioned earlier, I'm open for discussion :)
I'm fully aware that these books are cheesy as fuck, the writing style was mediocre at its best, and the whole concept wasn't intellectually stimulating per se.
However, I really enjoyed reading this book and for me that what matters the most. It was a quick and a fun read. I'll definitely read other books by the same author.
What really annoyed me though were the unnecessary footnotes. I mean you don't need to have a high IQ to understand the meaning of the terms he was trying explain. Also at this time and age you can simply Google them, problem solved!
