I have been highly anticipating reading Jordan Reiss story after her brief appearances in the Linear Tactical series by Janie Crouch. In the last book, Shamrock, Jordan seemed to be getting closer to Violet’s brother, Gabriel. Even though it was more of a backstory, their scenes together were amazing and I could not wait to read more. Angel exceeded all of my expectations and is by far my favorite in the Linear Tactical series. If I could give this book a million stars I would. Yes, is is THAT good!

Jordan has a heartbreaking backstory. Her mom died when she was young and she was raised by a father that fleeced the residents of Oak Creek out of all of their savings. Needless to say, Jordan became the town’s most hated person. But, nothing could save Jordan when a tragedy happens and she winds up in prison. Now, that she is released and on parole, Jordan comes back to one place she loves most of all, her home in Oak Creek, Wyoming. All Jordan wants is to be accepted, but that is hard to do when the entire town hates her and makes her life miserable every chance they get. Her only saving grace is her friendship with Violet, our heroine from Shamrock. Only, Violet’s brother, Gabriel is none to happy with his sister being friendly with an ex-con.

Gabriel will do everything in his power to protect his sister, Violet. But, the closer he gets to Jordan, he begins to realize maybe she is not so bad afterall. Although he denies his attraction to Jordan, he can’t help be pulled to her. Gabriel’s protective nature kicks in and he vows to be her guardian angel. When Jordan’s life is in danger, Gabriel will do everything in his power to make sure she stays safe.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I LOVE Jordan and Gabriel. Jordan is so strong willed yet so vulnerable at the same time. She just wants to be accepted and tries to make things right with the people in town, but she is totally shut out, ostracized and bullied. Who can blame them with her past. But, Jordan refuses to be scared off the one place she considers home. Jordan’s story is so heartbreaking and emotional, but she perseveres through it all. She is a fighter and I loved this most of all. It was really hard to see how she was being treated by most of the town and my heart really broke for her. When Jordan meets Gabriel he tries to bribe her to stay away from his sister, but she refuses to be intimidated by him. Gabriel is attracted to Jordan, but tries to deny it at every turn. Their first kiss, though is explosive and the closer he gets to her, the more Gabriel tries to push her away. Gabriel totally makes a fool out of himself quite often says a lot of stupid things to Jordan. The more Gabriel starts to get to know Jordan, the more he can see Jordan is not what the town thinks of her and he begins to see her for who she truly is. Some of their scenes are so emotional and tear worthy.

I should have known better than to start reading Angel at midnight. I promised myself I would only read a few chapters and go to bed. I should have known better because once you start reading a book by Janie Crouch you will be drawn right in immediately. Crouch has such a way of keeping you glued to the pages and immersing you in her wonderfully written character driven stories. I am just totally in awe of her Crouch’s writing and she is definitely one of my favorite authors. The Linear Tactical series is one of my favorite series to date. Honestly, I am kinda hoping it never ends because I might cry! Not that I wasn’t already crying enough for this book. This book just had me all emotional!

If you enjoy a story that is full of heart and emotion and can bring you to tears, then you do not want to miss Angel by Janie Crouch. This is a standout story that absolutely captivated me right from the start. Angel is beautifully written and heartfelt. This is a story I will remember for a long time to come and definitely worthy of being on my keeper shelf.

Former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood knows all about Jordan Reiss and her past. Killing McKay's wife and toddler son, her stint in jail and her father's ponzi scheme of robbing most of the town of their savings. So when his sister Violet hires her at her new bakery, one he doesnt fully support, he is hell bent to protect her from Jordan.

What he doesnt expect is for the 'bad' girl to be a strong, courageous, amazing women. When a fire nearly kills Violet AND Jordan, he is pissed, when he learns that Jordan risked herself to save Violet, his wall cracks, when he discovers her badly burned and not receiving medical attention the wall crumbles and out of it becomes the hero he was born to be.

He will be destroyed to learn how she is being treated by the town. Hell, how he has treated he will work doubly hard to prove he is worth it, but more that she is too and that she isnt alone...not anymore....but when the past arises again she will have to trust him to see she is who he got to know and not who he thought she was.

So good!!!! I love this series and was eager for Jordan's HEA and more of her story. I wasnt disappointed.

This could have been really good. I can understand a brother being protective of his sister, but this guy is a straight out jackass. He not only belittles his sister for her decisions, but debases the heroine multiple times.

The first time he shames the h he kinda got a pass as that's the git-to in romances, but after the third time, it's time for a different hero.

Has a real vibe.

3.5. Story was good but too many things annoyed me in the details. The hero in the book had some real anger management issues, losing his temper and verbally bashing the heroine until he finally sexually assaults her, pushing her against the wall face first and groping her, and she never fights back! Even when it looked like she’d make him grovel at the end she never did. He never really had to account to her for when he attacked her. I guess this is a matter of what’s not ok IRL is ok in fiction. Also I am no coding expert but I’m pretty sure you can’t teach it to yourself on some old computer, so the part of the story where she was “working on some backdoor security worm program didn’t really work for me. The people I know into java have high powered mega computers and are deep in online chat rooms learning from each other. Also you can’t rebuild a house that burnt down in one or two days. Just a few examples of lots of issues in this book. It just shows lazy writing. Do some research into the realms where you are placing characters so it rings more true for the reader. I can suspend my disbelief for some things but messy details like these pull me out of the story and just make me a grumpy reader.

"You and me together. Every breath. Always.

Overview:
Gabe (34) & Jordan(23). Told from dual POV. Its a slow burn. Part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.
How it ends: It has a HEA.

The Characters:
When Jordan was 18, she fell asleep behind the wheel and killed a mother and her small son. She was sent to prison for 6 years and has recently been released. The town hates her. Add to that, her father was a crook and ran off with everyone’s retirement money, so hate is really too mild a word for how the town feels about her. She has no one and is despised by everyone. She is so sad and lonely. I really loved Jordan. Her inner strength was amazing. How many times can one person get kicked around and still get up and put one foot in front of the other and trudge forward? Her perseverance was unbelievable. There were many times where I just wanted to wrap her up in a big hug and I wanted to throat punch pretty much everyone in the town.

Gabe is an ex SEAL and extremely protective of his sister Violet (heroine of the previous book, Shamrock). Jordan works for Gabe’s sister and because Gabe is suffering from the shock of betrayal (revealed in the previous book) he really mistrusts Jordan. Gabe was a bit hot and cold for me. Sometimes I liked him, sometimes I thought he was a jerk.

The chemistry between Gabe and Jordan was a bit off for me. Gabe was suspicious of Jordan and her motives and then the next second he was kissing her. Huh? Then he tried to buy her off to get her out of town and then the next second he was kissing her. I was getting whiplash.

This is the 4th book in the Linear Tactical series. It isn’t necessary to read the previous books to understand this one. However, it might help to read book 3 before this one as the timeline in this book somewhat parallels the previous book and might help the reader understand Gabe’s trust issues.

There were lots of times I felt Gabe fell short of a true hero (at least what I wanted him to be). Sometimes he was no better than everyone else in town who treated Jordan with such disdain. However, when he stood up for her in a couple different situations, I absolutely loved him. Jordan so badly needed someone in her corner and it was so good to see Gabe be her champion.

There is a large cast of secondary characters that are from previous books in this series. I felt they added some depth to the story and I loved to see how they rallied around Jordan when she needed the support. It isn’t necessary to read the previous books to understand their relevance and contributions to this story.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. It moved along well and had a bit of intrigue to keep it entertaining. And, while there were some predictable plot elements, I really wanted to see Jordan come out on top and get her HEA so it was easy to stay invested in the outcome.

Angst, a side of martyr and TSTL for dessert. Now very appetizing and not much fun to read either. I loved the earlier books in this series, but this one just wasn't up to the task.

Jordan Reiss's father stole a lot of money from the "good citizens" of Oak Creek, Wyoming and then she was involved in a terrible accident that killed a young mother and her child. Life sure has handed her a s--- sandwich. After parole she has returned and the "good citizens" have gone out of their way to make her life as difficult as possible. But, Jordan has found a few good friends and is working to put her life back together. All that means nothing to Gabriel Collingwood whose sister, Violet, has given Jordan a job. He sees Jordan as a opportunist and his sister as a soft touch. Gabe is not going to let Jorden take advantage of his sister, not on his watch.

As a former SEAL, Gabe is all about protecting the weak and when he sees Jordan being manhandled his instinct is to step in and protect her. Then he promptly tries to pay her off to quit her job with his sister, then he rocks both their worlds with a scorching kiss. As the harassment escalates it becomes clear that someone in not going to be happy until Jordan leaves Oak Glen, one way or another and that is something Gabe just can't accept. 3 1/2-Stars

Gabriel Collingwood will do anything to protect his sister and that includes running off the ex-con who has attached herself to Violet. But not even his Navy SEAL training can prepare Gabriel for the intense attraction he feels for Jordan Reiss, the town outcast, who is determined to make amends even for crimes of which she is blameless. Can Gabriel get past his preconceived notions to accept Jordan and will she let him past her defenses?

Jordan is another of Crouch's damaged yet exceedingly sympathetic heroines. Similar to Anne and Charlie in the first two books, Jordan's past consists of one tragedy after another, and it is clear that she deserves her happily ever after. Her opposites-attract romance with Gabe is delightful, and it is fun to see him lose control and give in to his desire for Jordan. Although he is often overly judgmental and quick to lash out when angry, it is clear that he loves Jordan, and their chemistry is incredible.

Unlike the previous books, the suspense plot comes in toward the end with the . While this twist is not completely unexpected, it is interesting to see how it plays out and the way in which Jordan and Gabriel handle the situation.

My one minor nitpick is that the town's despicable actions toward Jordan are glossed over too easily at the end, and the resolution of this subplot is a little too saccharine for my tastes. There are several characters who get off far too easily for their behavior toward her.

All in all, an excellent addition to what is rapidly becoming a favorite series.

I did not want this book to end! I kept swiping in hopes that there’d be more, a bonus scene, an epilogue, something!! I just loved this couple and their story, I wanted more time with them.
It was interesting how this story overlaps Shamrock’s timeline. It gave me a better understanding of what was happening with these characters then. Jordan was broken and vulnerable but so incredibly strong. I loved getting a look into her mind and watching as she grew and changed. Her relationship with Gabriel was captivating. Often I was left breathless or full of butterflies. I don’t know what it was about them but I was just so wrapped up in them.

There was a minute when I had to put my phone down, I was a bit frustrated and needed to take a little break...that lasted about thirty seconds and then I had to dive back in. Nothing could keep me from finding out what would happen next. This story didn’t have the same level of action the others did but that doesn’t mean it was any less riveting. Crouch, once again, combines a mesmerizing romance, with deep characters, an intriguing mystery, and some exciting action scenes.

In this book, a character is referred to multiple times as Blasian aka Black and Asian AND they give him the call sign Blaze because of this. WTF. The story itself is enjoyable enough but I could not get over this!

ALSO! Jordan's dad has stolen the retirement savings of lots of people in this town, as we are told over and over again. The total amount he stole: $622,000. Besties, that is not sufficient retirement savings for an entire town of people!

Jordan has been a recurring character from the beginning. She’s an ex-convict after a terrible accident and when her dad stole the townfolks retirement funds and disappeared, Jordan found herself as the town pariah. This chick had a steel backbone to endure the crud she did! She took the backlash of her father’s idiocy and swallowed the town’s insults and horrid treatment down with her head held up. I felt terrible for her! Bless the girls and their protective guys at Linear Tactical for giving Jordan a chance!

Gabriel...I liked him, but how can a man so smart be such an idiot?! He was a really sweet guy; proactive, decisive, and protective of those he cared for. Now if he could just quit jumping to conclusions! He was a really sweet guy; proactive, decisive, and protective of those he cared for. Now if he could just quit jumping to conclusions!

Jordan and Gabriel had oodles of chemistry! Their fireworks in Shamrock are still present and exploding here! He was the experienced older guy and she was a virign pupil, but their sexy romps...this particular education was smokin hot! The emotional intimacy took a a touch longer to establish..ahem, Gabriel...but once things clicked, it made their relationship that much stronger.

Overall, Angel was a good read. I did have a couple of issues with Gabriel, but thankfully he did the right thing or we’d have had words! Seeing Jordan bloom was the best and I loved getting to learn more about her. The suspense was spot on and getting to catch up with the Linear Tactical family is always a highlight! I do hope Dorian’s up next because I am itching to learn what kind of secrets Dorian and his Ghost are keeping....

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Janie Crouch, you will be the death of me yet! I downloaded this book a little before midnight on Monday and told myself I could read a couple of chapters, then go to sleep. Yeah, right. Next thing I knew it was 4 am, and I was on Chapter Seventeen and face-planted on my e-reader. Up again a few hours later and champing at the bit to start reading again, I could not put this book down. I've been intrigued by Jordan since her first appearance and hoped that she would get her own story. When she and Gabe (brother to Violet in Shamrock) met in the previous book the sparks flew, and I couldn't wait to see what happened.

The beginning of this book overlapped with the end of Shamrock, but this time from Gabe and Jordan's points of view. Gabe is protective of his sister and suspicious of ex-con Jordan and her motives for working at Violet's bakery. He was pretty obnoxious in his attempts to bribe Jordan to leave. I loved seeing her stand up to Gabe and do what was right for her. Underneath all that antagonism was attraction, and it burst into flame with an explosive kiss that neither knew how to deal with. Nor could either one forget it. Though he tried, Gabe couldn't stay away, intrigued and curious to find out more about her. There was a sweet, romantic scene involving a sunset and good conversation that exploded into unexpected passion. But when Gabe's desire to treat Jordan the way she should be treated ran into the demons of her past and present, his frustration caused some very boneheaded actions on his part. I ached for Jordan and the hurt she experienced, and even for Gabe because he knew he'd been a jerk.

Jordan is amazing. She has been through so much, but she is determined to have the life she wants. A tragic mistake, when she was seventeen, sent her to prison for six years. Added to the fact that her father stole the retirement funds of most of the people in town, she wasn't surprised by the way she was treated when she came back. All she wanted was the chance to live in peace on her little patch of Wyoming paradise. I ached for her over all the acts of bullying, large and small, that she endured, believing that she doesn't deserve to be treated kindly. I loved how the men and women of Linear Tactical slowly worked past her defenses and gave her the love and friendship she craved.

I loved the development of the relationship between Gabe and Jordan. Though he was suspicious and antagonistic at first, it didn't take long for Gabe to admire Jordan's strength, intelligence, and humor. Jordan was wary. It took a little while for her to trust him, especially when he made some stupid mistakes. He came through brilliantly after the fire at the bakery. I loved seeing him in all his protective glory at the hospital, from the alpha avenger after he saw how she was treated, to the sensitive, observant man who was there when she needed him most. I loved seeing Gabe take care of her, showing her through his actions that she deserved everything he could do for her. The depth of thought and feeling that went into the date he took her on showed just how much he was starting to care about her. I loved watching Jordan blossom under his attention and support.

Just when it looked like life couldn't get any better, Jordan's past comes back to haunt her. With her friends' lives threatened, Jordan found herself in a position that would test Gabe's trust in her. I was on the edge of my seat as I watched Jordan forced to betray him. Intensified by the memory of another recent betrayal, Gabe's reaction was extreme, and I wanted to clobber him with a baseball bat. It was so satisfying to see him realize how big of an ass he had been when he found out what had actually happened. I was glued to the pages as Gabe, Jordan, and the Linear Tactical guys teamed up to bring an end to the threat. The final confrontation was a complex dance that had the potential for either disaster or success. Of course, you know it will be a success, but the process was intense. All that was left was for Gabe to regain Jordan's trust and get her to believe in a future together. I loved his "go big" moment at the end. That hint of vulnerability made it so much sweeter as he found a way to make all of Jordan's dreams come true.

Could have been my favorite

This book could have been my favorite in this series because I love a protective hero but man we went off script in a bad way.

Here there doth be spoilers:

I was all in with this book but I can’t ignore sexual assault. At about 70% mark in this book, the “hero forced himself on his lady love. I’m sorry... but hell to the no. Forcefully groping her, pinning her against a wall?? Eff that. As someone who suffers from PTSD from an assault where a man forced his mouth onto me. Just because he didn’t rape her, doesn’t mean he didn’t sexually assault her. That is not forgivable, hence it should not have been included in the story. To put this in the story and make it okay for him to not only gloss over what he did physically to her but to not face any repercussions besides a small side of the cold shoulder... really disgusting

Plus, no way in HE double hockey sticks would I be “forgiving this crazy town. I’d pack up and move on. But seems like Jordan is unfortunately forever stuck in abusive relationships.

I might not finish this series after reading this one which sucks because these books were like catnip to me.

Another success! I am very much enjoying that it isn't one big overarching plot but intertwined plots. It makes it feel much more realistic. On the note of realism, plots aren't wrapped up by people just getting murdered left right and center, with no repercussions to those that did the murdering.

On to the next!

Jordan Reiss and her destiny shattered my heart. Janie Crouch continues the Linear Tactical series with another strong female lead, Jordan, whom I admired while wanting to hug her, fight for her, defend her, and be her friend. Her life has never been easy, the obstacles and challenges on her way either accidents or fault of others, yet she takes the responsibility for them, makes the liability her own, the goal of her life to make restitution for those her father has wronged.
The way the townfolks treat Jordan had me in tears. All the feels come to the surface and the injustice towards Jordan made me want to take action. But through all the trouble, attacks, and aggression she experiences, she stands strong, tough, humble, and kindhearted.
I adored the joy Gabriel Collingwood brought to Jordan, all the firsts they experience together melted my heart. Their story is filled with passion, adoration, sweetness, and admiration.
Gabriel, the former Navy SEAL, is everything Jordan needs in her life, he is tough, protective, kind, caring, generous, and considerate. The only thing lacking is the one thing Jordan needs the most, being able to trust, blindly, at times. He's in a crossroads in his life, wanting a new direction with the family company, and his own future career, after being ruthlessly betrayed by the people closest to him (read the previous book, Shamrock, in the series), and from that foundation, I could understand and even accept some of his actions and reactions towards the things happening around Jordan. I was able to relate to those deep wounds he has, the lack of faith in the fellow humans, after being so crossly embezzled. But his own experiences pale in the light of what Jordan faces next, and he can only hope they will be able to rescue her, even if she will never be able to forgive him.
When the fierce, detrimental, vehement action and suspense meets the fervent, heartfelt, adorable love story all the feels are in the play, the emotions run rapid, and the tears, laughs, sighs, and even good oldfashioned swooning happen. I loved every aspect of the story, it was easy to immerse into, the characters are likable, relatable, people I wanted to spend time with and invest my emotions in.
Jordan and Gabriel have to go through some rather deep and dark alleys to find the sunny, peaceful meadows in their lives, yet each moment of that journey is worth the growth and development their experience on the way.
A breathtakingly beautiful love story mixed with lethal suspense, a heartbreaking tale of new beginnings and forgiveness.
Linear Tactical is proving to be a must-read series, each installment as strong and powerful read as the last one.

I'm usually all about the heroes in my romantic suspense, and don't get me wrong, Gabriel Colingwood (aka Angel) certainly delivers in the brainy, protective hunk department. But in this book, I think it was Jordan, the heroine, who really spoke to me. Probably because I'm a shy introvert I could relate to her. Not that I've been to prison or accidentally killed anyone! Jordan Reiss isn't shy, exactly, but she is such an outcast from the world that she is very cautious about sharing her feelings and trust because she's been so beaten up by life. And yet she keeps fighting--to do the right thing, to be a good friend, to not cause anyone any pain. I understood why she subverted her needs and wants to keep the chaos out of her life. That makes when she does stand up to protect her friends and go after what she wants such a powerful moment.

Gabriel is so protective and supportive of her and that makes him so endearing. Of course, the fact that he'll take a couple of bullets for her and get down on his knees to beg forgiveness when he's hurt her are strong, heroic moments.

There was one element I wanted more information about because it was an important motivator for a choice Gabriel made that I felt was out of character for him. It all turned out fine, but I just needed more to justify it. (no details because of spoilers)

All in all, I am loving Janie's Linear Tactical series. The heroines are strong and interesting, and the heroes are downright sexy and the protectors you want on your side in a romantic suspense. There are always hints to upcoming books and characters that aren't enough to take away from the main story, but that whet my appetite for the next book. Can't wait for GHOST!

I've been wanting to know more about Jordan through out the series. I felt like she got a rough deal from the town. Sure she did a bad thing, but it's something that could have happened to any of us and it wasn't done with malicious thoughts, it was pure accident and she should have no way had to pay for the sins of her father.

I fear that Jordan was close to breaking with all the bad shit the town shoveled her way. She took it, kept taking it and apologized when it happened, it was all so very wrong. I was glad when Gabe and her friends started standing up for her, giving her some bit of happiness. I liked what Jordan and Gabe were building, but wished that Gabe would have trusted that, not jumping to conclusions about what things looked like. Twice he didn't think and hurt Jordan when all she was trying to do was good. The third time it happened he finally listened to his instincts and did the right thing.

I loved the ending, but it was a long time coming.

I have been waiting for Jordan's story since the start of this series. I knew there was more to this woman than what we had seen. What I didn't expect is for her to have such inner beauty that even in despair, she was able to shine.

Gabriel starts out with the intent to protect his sister from Jordan. What he sees is that inner strength along with her vulnerability Jordan just wants to be loved for who she is. Gabriel sets out to become her cornerstone. I liked that although they had chemistry off the charts, this became a slow burn for Jordan and Gabriel.

Loved the bit of suspense in this one. Loved seeing the rest of the tactical team. Really intrigued with Ghost. That one is going to be an interesting story! Great series over all.

Hero loses his temper a lot, and says awful and insulting things to the heroine, which he then regrets. I like this trope, but here he grovelled in his head and to his buds, but not so much to the h. He did make it up in actions, so a medium 3 star.

The town should burn though. No redemption for them, I've read two in this series and the author keeps telling the reader how great this small town is, but shows the community as small-minded gossips that hold grudges.

Thanks to her father cheating the town’s people out of money then disappearing, Jordan has been called a thief, a liar and a con artist. It was her father’s deeds that wrecked her life, and now another name has been added to it after falling asleep behind the wheel and killing two people. Murderer.

Her boss’s brother offered to pay her to quit her job so that she could not con his sister. She loved working with Violet, so he won’t make her quit.

Gabriel, aka Angel, makes a fool of himself when it comes to Jordan, insulting her twice in a short time. He never expected that she would ever speak to him again. Gabriel saw how the people of the town treated Jorden when the bakery burned and she was hurt. That made him swear to be her garden angel.

Each seems interested in the other and they both share a love for coding. But when things get better, an old ghost appears. Things will get heated and their relationship will be tested.

I enjoyed the few glimpses of these two I saw in the previous book and I loved reading their story from their viewpoint. Ever since Jordan was introduced in the series, I’ve been curious about her. She seemed lost and lonely. Having Gabriel as her champion only added to her strength to face the world. I love Gabriel, but he kept saying all the wrong things when he got angry. Jordan had enough of the townspeople’s hurtful words, and he was proving them right. I also loved how he would own up to every wrong he did. These two are a favourite of mine now.

I enjoyed every word in this book. From its annoying, steamy, romantic moments to its heartbreaking ones. Everything about it is good, from the plot to the characters to the setting in Jordan’s land. Seeing glimpses of Dorian and his Wraith makes me more excited about reading his book.

This romance suspense series is a favourite of mine.

Every single person in this book needed to grovel more to the heroine, and she forgave them all far too easily, but at least some of them felt the impact of their actions.

This series continues to get better with every book, something I didn't think possible after the diamond that is Shamrock. Jordan Reiss, the heroine of Angel, is doing it tougher than most. Ostracised by pretty much everyone in town for an innocent mistake she made that shattered people's lives, and for the actions of her despicable father who stole from most of the townsfolk, she's also tormented and bullied at every turn.

Gabriel Collingwood, brother of Shamrock's heroine Violet, doesn't trust her as blindly as his sister does. He watches her closely, ready to pounce as soon as she makes a mistake... but he comes to realise that Jordan is not the monster everyone makes her out to be. Underneath the quiet, lonely exterior is a young woman who is haunted by her past and desperate to make it right so she can finally move forward with her life again. She's clever with computers, smart, funny and beautiful. Soon enough, Gabe is more than willing to take on the role of protector.

There's no smooth sailing in their relationship, though, thanks to others in their lives, and Gabe finds himself wondering if he was wrong to trust Jordan. I myself wanted to smack some sense in to him on a few occasions! Jordan I just wanted to hug. She shows a strength and tenacity few others do, and most in her situation would have given up. A wonderful heroine and a book that will leave you both breathless and smiling for days to come.

This is the forth book in the series and they need to be read in order. Jordan Reiss hasn’t had it easy. Her mother died when she was a child then her father ran off with a lot of the town’s people’s money when she was in high school. Lastly ran hit and killed a mother and her child. She has spent the last several years in jail. She is finally out and trying to start over again. A lot of people in town aren’t happy she is back. Gabriel has his suspicions of Jordan. He is worried that she will scam his sister and that trouble seems to follow her around. Gabriel however can’t seem to fight the pull he feels for Jordan. He wants to so badly but then something horrible happens to his sister and Jordan. He realizes that Jordan needs someone to fight for her. That she believes all the things the people in town say about her and that she deserves what they do to her. Gabriel is going to fight for Jordan and show her just how fantastic he thinks she is. Gabriel has his own issues. This book has bumps and twists. Things definitely don’t go smoothly. Gabe does mess up a couple times. Reading about him graveling and trying for a second and third chance is funny to read. I loved this book so much. I have read all the books in the series and really enjoyed all of them. This series is a must read. They are action packed and romantic. I love all the characters and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Jordan Reiss hasn’t had much good in her life, and she finds it difficult to believe she deserves the kindness of others. Although he’s not sure he can trust her, Gabriel Collingwood is drawn to Jordan and is intrigued to uncover the person she really is. When her past returns to threaten those she loves, Jordan is faced with challenges she’s forced to meet in order to keep her friends safe, and Gabe’s faith in her will be tested to its limits, possibly costing them everything.

This is a gripping, suspenseful tale, full of emotions, intrigue and drama. There are moments that may just break your heart and moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Jordan and Gabe’s love story is a roller coaster ride that will grab you at the start, tug at your heartstrings with its twists and turns, and keep your interest until the very end. I love the way all the Linear Tactical characters are integrated throughout the whole series. I highly recommend this very engaging and entertaining story and series!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Cyclone (Linear Tactical #1)
Eagle (Linear Tactical #2)
Shamrock (Linear Tactical #3)

This is Jordon and Gabriel’s story. Jordon knows the people in the town hate her. Her father did awful things and then she did also. But she served her time and is back in town. Not everyone is happy about that. Gabriel is in town for his sister and he does not trust Jordan. He thinks she is going to con his sister out of something. She seems nice but he is not going to be fooled. When danger comes for her he knows he has to protect her but can he trust her? The more the danger comes around the more he can see a different side of her. But will he lose her before he has a chance to tell her he needs her?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

When I first encountered Jordan in Shamrock (because that is the first book I read, not because it is the one she first appears in) I instantly felt an emotional connection to her. Although I had parents that were still around, I worked 3 jobs and know what it is like to feel desperate and the drive to push just a little harder. This connection drew me in but I wasn't convinced that I would love her story because I thought it was going to be a painful one and in some ways it was. The hero, Gabriel, was someone who I wanted to scoop Jordan up and keep her forever safe. Of course this meant that I wanted to smack him at times.

Although I didn't like all of his decisions I did ultimately enjoy his character. Both his character and Jordan's are well developed. The story itself flows well and is well written.

I will be reading more from Janie Crouch
