Origin and his experiences of this representative of non-metropolitan literature in the 1930s dominated influences in his thought and work.
He also adapted plays of Pedro Calderón de la Barca, Lope de Vega, Dino Buzzati, and Requiem for a Nun of William Faulkner. One may trace his enjoyment of the theater back to his membership in l'Equipe, an Algerian group, whose "collective creation" Révolte dans les Asturies (1934) was banned for political reasons.
Of semi-proletarian parents, early attached to intellectual circles of strongly revolutionary tendencies, with a deep interest, he came at the age of 25 years in 1938; only chance prevented him from pursuing a university career in that field. The man and the times met: Camus joined the resistance movement during the occupation and after the liberation served as a columnist for the newspaper Combat.
The essay Le Mythe de Sisyphe (The Myth of Sisyphus), 1942, expounds notion of acceptance of the absurd of Camus with "the total absence of hope, which has nothing to do with despair, a continual refusal, which must not be confused with renouncement - and a conscious dissatisfaction."
Meursault, central character of L'?tranger (The Stranger), 1942, illustrates much of this essay: man as the nauseated victim of the absurd orthodoxy of habit, later - when the young killer faces execution - tempted by despair, hope, and salvation.
Besides his fiction and essays, Camus very actively produced plays in the theater (e.g., Caligula, 1944).
The time demanded his response, chiefly in his activities, but in 1947, Camus retired from political journalism.
Doctor Rieux of La Peste (The Plague), 1947, who tirelessly attends the plague-stricken citizens of Oran, enacts the revolt against a world of the absurd and of injustice, and confirms words: "We refuse to despair of mankind. Without having the unreasonable ambition to save men, we still want to serve them."
People also well know La Chute (The Fall), work of Camus in 1956.
Camus authored L'Exil et le royaume (Exile and the Kingdom) in 1957. His austere search for moral order found its aesthetic correlative in the classicism of his art. He styled of great purity, intense concentration, and rationality.
Camus died at the age of 46 years in a car accident near Sens in le Grand Fossard in the small town of Villeblevin.

Camus'nün 22 ya??ndayken kaleme ald??? ilk eseri olan Tersi ve Yüzü, ilk kez, Camus'nün Nobel Edebiyat? almas?ndan bir y?l sonra, 1958 y?l?nda bas?lm??. Kitap, sunu? ve ?ns?z haricinde be? b?lümden olu?uyor. Bu b?lümlerde k?sa k?sa deneme türünde par?alar g?rüyoruz. Ger?ekten de bir insan?n 22 ya??nda b?ylesine derin, etkileyici ve bilge yaz?lar kaleme alabilmesi hayret verici. Bu denemelerde yazar?n ki?ili?inden izler ve kendi ya?am?ndan par?alar buluyoruz. ?n opinia mea, Camus este cel mai gr?itor exemplu al faptului c? un scriitor de geniu trebuie s? aib? o via?? zbuciumat? (?i invers, doar c? opera multora dintre aceia cu "o via?? zbuciumat?" r?m?ne sub pecetea t?cerii).
Astfel... nu ai cum s? cite?ti Camus l?ng? o vaz? cu flori. Decorul pe care-l inspir? el este unul de?ertic, sterp ?i f?r? niciun fel de colorit. Cu toate acestea ?ns?, Camus nu inspir? triste?e, ci ?ndeamn? la resemnare; el privestea via?a pragmatic ?i vocea lui l?untric? este mai pronun?at? dec?t g?ndurile pe care le exprim? prin linii de dialog...
Interesant, de asemenea, decorul dintre via?a ?i opera lui. Dup? cum am spus, oper? descrie oameni afla?i ?n menghina ve?nicei triste?i, ?n schimb via?a lui -ca printr-o psihoz? social?- este cu totul altfel; ca om social, Camus ar putea fi catalogat drept un desfr?nat (fapt vizibil ?n "Str?inul", rom?n ?n care, cred eu, a pus cel mai mult din g?ndurile ?i via?a lui).

Astfel... nu ai cum s? cite?ti Camus l?ng? o vaz? cu flori. Decorul pe care-l inspir? el este unul de?ertic, sterp ?i f?r? niciun fel de colorit. Cu toate acestea ?ns?, Camus nu inspir? triste?e, ci ?ndeamn? la resemnare; el privestea via?a pragmatic ?i vocea lui l?untric? este mai pronun?at? dec?t g?ndurile pe care le exprim? prin linii de dialog...
Interesant, de asemenea, decorul dintre via?a ?i opera lui. Dup? cum am spus, oper? descrie oameni afla?i ?n menghina ve?nicei triste?i, ?n schimb via?a lui -ca printr-o psihoz? social?- este cu totul altfel; ca om social, Camus ar putea fi catalogat drept un desfr?nat (fapt vizibil ?n "Str?inul", rom?n ?n care, cred eu, a pus cel mai mult din g?ndurile ?i via?a lui).

Pet eseja koje je Kami napisao do svoje 22. godine. Ti eseji sami po sebi nisu ne?to posebno, osim mo?da kao zametak njegovog kasnijeg razmi?ljanja. Dodu?e, kad se setim u tom dobu, te?ko da mu je to zameriti, a "Sada vi?e ne ?elim da budem sre?an, ve? samo da budem svestan", ipak, nije ni lo?e za klinca.
Ono ?to ovoj knji?ici od 50 strana daje vrednost je predgovor autora, napisan dvadesetak godina kasnije. Najpre kre?e od toga za?to ove eseje toliko dugo nije hteo ponovo da ?tampa (i njemu su zvu?ali nezgrapni), o sebi u to vreme ("?iveo sam u besparici, ali i u nekoj vrsti u?itka. Ose?ao sam neizmernu snagu, samo ju je trebalo usmeriti ka ne?emu. Siroma?tvo nije bilo prepreka toj snazi: u Africi more i sunce ne ko?taju ni?ta."), o preseljenju u Pariz i uticaju toga na njega ("... ro?en siroma?an, u radni?koj ?etvrti, nisam znao ?ta je prava nesre?a dok nisam upoznao na?a hladna predgra?a. ?ak se ni krajnje arapsko siroma?tvo ne mo?e meriti s time, jer je nebo druga?ije. Jednom kada ?ovek shvati kakva su industrijska naselja, mislim da se zauvek ose?a ukaljano i odgovorno ?to ona postoje.").
Pi?e i o odnosu prema svojoj umetnosti ("Mislim da nikad nisam osetio nikakvu radost dok sam ?itao zavr?enu stranicu. ?ak ?u priznati, i prihvatam da budem ozbiljno shva?en, da me je uspeh nekih mojih knjiga oduvek ?udio."), ali i nerazumevanju koje takav odnos mo?e izazvati kod drugih ("Kada ignori?emo pohvale ili izraze po?tovanja, onaj koji nas je pohvalio misli da ga preziremo, a mi zapravno samo sumnjamo u sebe.").

Camus' first book. It's all here: the loneliness, the ephemeral life and it's meaning, the happiness on the smallest of things, and the pain that also brings joy and comfort with it. The book is like a sum of short stories with anonymous protagonists that embody those feelings in surprising realistic ways. Camus is very dear to me, and always was, and even though it has its flaws, L'Envers Et L'Endroit remains true to what he means to me.
Also, the speeches from Sweden in 1957 are anexed to my edition, which makes for quite a nice complementary reading about Philosophy, Literature and maybe more important, about Art, definition, evolution and place in our modern world. After all, the world hasn't changed much in these decades.

Waarom heeft niemand het hierover????
Zes korte verhalen over jong zijn (Camus schreef ze toen hij 22 was), oud worden, de kleine dingen in het leven en de gelijktijdige, onontkoombare vluchtigheid ervan.
Zie de volgende passage:
’En dan ben ik in Vicenza. Hier gaan de dagen in zichzelf gekeerd voorbij, van het eerste ontwaken van de dag af, die vol is van het gekakel van kippen, tot aan die onvergelijkelijke avonden, eindeloos zacht een liefelijk, zijdeachtig glanzend achter de cypressen en eindeloos uitgemeten door het gesjirp van de krekels. De innerlijke stilte, die mij niet meer verlaat, wordt geboren uit de trage kringloop, die de ene dag aan de andere rijt. Niets heb ik meer te wensen, met mijn kamer, die uitkijkt over de vlakte, vol antieke meubels en gehaakte, kanten kleedjes. De hele hemel straalt boven mij en ik heb het gevoel, of ik onbeweeglijk en langzaam meewentelend, eindeloos lang de loop der dagen zou kunnen volgen. Ik adem het enige geluk in, dat voor mij is weggelegd — een geweten, dat voor alles openstaat en met alles vrede heeft en ik heb vrede met mijzelf.’
Heb ik al benadrukt hóe mooi deze Nederlandse vertaling is? Eventjes opgezocht en: Anne Maclaine Pont, je bent een heldin (letterlijk, want ze zat in het verzet blijkbaar, queen). De volgende zin wil ik op m’n voorhoofd getatoe?erd hebben:
’En als ik mijzelf indertijd volledig gaf wanneer ik lief had, dan was ik tenslotte mijzelf, want alleen de liefde geeft ons aan onszelf terug.’
Tot slot: ik kocht Keer en tegenkeer op de boekenmarkt op het Spui en er kwam meteen een drietal oude mannetjes op me af om het boekje te bekijken en me te vertellen hoe leuk het was dat ik deze had gekocht, zo lief <3

? cette extrême pointe de l'extrême conscience, tout ce rejoignait et ma vie m'apparaissait comme un bloc à rejeter ou à recevoir. J'avais besoin d'une grandeur. Je la trouvais dans la confrontation de mon désespoir profond et l’indifférence secrète d'un des plus beaux paysages du monde.

Eseji (tako ih Camus naziva), iako nisu tipi?ni eseji kakve poznaje struka. Napisao ih je Albert s 22 godine i u njima iznosi ono ?ime ?e se mnogo bolje i detaljnije baviti kasnije. On je sam (kad je bio ve? afirmirani pisac) njihov oblik smatrao nezgrapnim i to se vidi. Stilski mi je bilo, rekao bih, pateti?no (?to mi ne ide uz Camusa), pregr?t kratkih re?enica koje su mi dosta lomile koncentraciju i kvarile dojam, a tematski mi je ostalo pomalo nedore?eno i slabo razra?eno. Zapravo, mo?e se re?i da je ovo nekakav meditativni putopis u kojem autor iznosi misli, dojmove, osje?aje i sl., ali i tra?i sebe i smisao dok putuje.

Evokes the great misunderstandings of youth, the feelings, the instincts.. The hopes and the cravings of oneself, when being idealistic is more than a choice. Camus said it's his masterpiece, and I believe him, I can relate to. We often choose reason over challenge, rationalism over adventure, but this time it was feelings over fear. I loved this book.

Cinco peque?as piezas (escritas cuando tenía 22 a?os) mezcla de ensayo filosófico y vivencias personales con un cierto aura de relatos breves. Y un muy jugoso prefacio (escrito más de 20 a?os después) explicando por qué decide, tras tanto tiempo, reeditar estos escritos. Bastante interesante y muy fácil y rápido de leer.

"L'envers et l'endroit" is Camus' first book. For personal reasons, he refused to republish it for the most part of his life, but agreed to it when his readers pointed out that speculants were making big money by selling the first (and only, up to that point) edition for a lot on the "grey" market. He agreed that it was unfair for those who were actually interested in reading it to have to pay so much for it, so he ultimately decided to allow it to be published again.
It's a (very short) collection of (very short) stories of which I believe the most interesting to be the last, the one that also gave the title, "L'envers et l'endroit".
I find other of his works to be much richer than this one, but I would say this is still mandatory reading if you like Camus and haven't gotten to it yet.
