Massive world tours. Over a hundred million albums sold. Groupies galore.
Every day is a party for Viper and the guys of TBD, the biggest rock band in the world. But it all comes to a screeching halt when the lead singer walks out of the studio one day and never comes back.

Ear-blistering vocals. Butchered lyrics. Fame chasers.
After months of lackluster auditions, Viper, the lead guitarist and resident bad boy of the group, is ready to find solace in the bottom of a bottle. Time’s running out and the pressure’s on to find a new singer, but it isn’t until an angel walks through the door that the band’s prayers are answered.

Charismatic. Talented. Magic behind the mic. Halo is everything they’ve been looking for.
With a voice to match his stunning good looks, it isn’t long before Viper’s taking notice. But there are several reasons this is a bad idea:

1. Interpersonal relationships in the band are discouraged
2. Viper has already broken rule #1—big mistake
3. Halo is straight

Too bad Viper’s body isn’t listening to his head—at least not the one on his shoulders. But you can’t fake chemistry, not onstage and certainly not off it, and Viper and Halo? They have it in spades.

As both men try to resist the fire blazing between them, and the band is forced to reinvent themselves, it’ll be a complicated rise back to the top. But from the ashes of what was, something beautiful is born. Something better. And when the world finally sees Halo stretch his wings, they’ll discover what it’s like to fall for an angel.

This bored me,quite frankly. Not even Halo and his long hair was enough to carry on here.

No one loves an arrogant asshole more than me but I really disliked Viper. And there was something about the way he pursued Halo that left me feeling uncomfortable.

Halo: I'm straight,I like girls...

Viper: I honestly don't care.I want you and I'm hot-in fact everyone wants me (because I'm hot) -did I mention I'm hot-because I am-extremely hot.

Viper: Have you ever been interested in a man?

Halo: No,can't say I have.

Viper: ( probably pouting and trying to look seductive ....hot? ) But I'm hot...

Halo is book one in the Fallen Angel series by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine. I was looking for a MM rock star romance and this has been on my list for awhile. Since I love both of these authors, I decided it was time. I feel like I need to admit that I did NOT realize that it was a continuing series about the same couple. I thought each book would be a different couple. But now that I’ve finished this first book, I can’t wait to jump right back in for more of these two. I loved it!

Viper is part of the world famous band, TBD. But several months prior to the start of this book, their lead singer, Trent, just walked away, leaving them floundering. They have auditioned scores of singers but none were the right fit. Until Halo walked in. The man looked and sang just like an angel. He could play any instrument, he could write, and he would make men and women alike, scream his name.

Halo was barely scraping by doing random small time gigs, living in a tiny apartment in a not so great neighborhood of New York. So he thought why not, and he sent an audition video to TBD. He couldn’t believe it when they wanted an in person audition. And was even more shocked when he got the job.

“Watching Halo was like poetry in motion.

Halo is straight, Viper is not. But as soon as these two met, sparks were flying. It confuses Halo. He can’t understand why he is feeling the way he is about another man. But he can’t look away. The more time they spend together, the more touches they share, the hotter the chemistry gets.

Viper should not be risking everything by giving in to this thing between him and Halo. It took months to find the right man for their band. He could ruin everything. But he can’t stay away. I loved the way he took things so slowly. Little by little these two edged closer to the inevitable. Little by little Halo gave in to the attraction he couldn’t deny.

“You’re not looking too angelic right now, Angel.
“You’re enough to corrupt anyone.
“Ah, so you’re like a fallen angel?

I loved this book. Halo was not only dealing with a brand new life with brand new stress. But also a brand new attraction, to a man! To a man he has idolized for years. I loved these two together and I can’t wait to see what comes next for them in the next book, Viper.

This book came at a perfect time for me. It was exactly what I needed. I, like so many am a huge fan of the Temptation seriesand this book did kind of remind of Logan and Tate This time we get rockstars though, a trope I really love. We even get double the fun, because it's two rockstars falling for each other !!

double the fun gif - Google zoeken

I started reading this book and I just couldn't stop and put it down. I have zombie face right now because of it ;)

The writing style was just so pleasant and I fell in love with both MC's the moment I met them. Not to mention the side characters who were pretty amazing as well.

Halo is auditioning for the role of lead singer, for a pretty famous rock band TBD. Their old lead singer just up and left, leaving the band in a tight spot (read "A Little bit like Desire")

Viper the lead guitarist knows he's in the trouble the moment he sets his eyes on Halo. Viper is definitely a bit of a bad boy and I loved him all the more for it. He knows Halo is supposedly straight but that won't stop him from pursuing the man. Viper isn't one for hiding and sneaking around and so he is pretty straightforward and loud in his pursuit (constant flirting/innuendos).

come to the dark side gif - Google zoeken

One thing is for sure though...Viper is confusing the hell out of Halo. How can he be attracted to a man all of a sudden ??!! He is though, there is no denying the huge tent in his pants 9f01372377900d9203bc4efe48eb1659

It takes a bit of time, but when these two get together, there are definite fireworks...yowza !!

tumblr_oif9d4lDc91vuze5ao1_500.gif (480×208)

This book doesn't end on the major cliffy I was worried about. That said, I can't wait to read the next one. This book was everything I needed at the moment and I hope time is gonna fly ;)

Highly recommended

-Nothing special, been there, done all this with Logan and Tate! And no couple can match them.

-It is all insta everything!

-Viper came off as creepy in the beginning (a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen) but at least it wasn’t dragged out.

-Halo was just ok, but he made the straight guy turn gay trope unbelievable.

-Viper and Halo as the main MCs were not that interesting. I found myself wanting to know more about Killian.

Overall it was just Ok, I will probably read book 2 to see if there is any character growth beside wanting to hump each other 24/7, I understand it is erotica, but I would love some tiny bit story.

Flat and Uninspired Characters....

I expected a lot more from this pair of writers.
What I got was this:

I’m joining the band, OMG it’s Viper
Viper
Viper
I want your acceptance, Viper

Angel, you’re so beautiful
Angel, I want to do things to you

I’m straight, Viper, but you’re so hot

Damn right I’m hot
You make me hard, Angel
Constantly
This song says how hard you make me

I wrote a song, too
Let’s work on it together
(Make out session)
I can’t believe I’m attracted to a man
Viper
Viper
Viper

Angel
Angel
Angel
(Record song)

(Dream about Viper, tell Viper)
Viper, I want you inside me

Angel, I’m going to corrupt you
(Corruption)

Viper
Viper
Viper

The end.

Don’t expect more than that. Honestly. At all. Really.

Read #5

This series is my most re-read series and I still love it just as much as the first time.

The chemistry between Halo and Viper is amazing every time and I love how they're instantly drawn to each other and the way things develop between them.

Although, I definitely prefer to read for myself rather than listen to the audiobook as the chemistry doesn't come across as well for me, probably because my attention span is awful if I'm just listening.

I just love everything about these two characters, and their personalities are so strong that they feel like real people. I even do a little happy dance whenever they're mentioned or make a cameo in any other book from these authors 😂

The way Viper absolutely is falling first and can't even see it yet just makes me smile so big - it's all the little moments they share that really add up, and I think it's a big part of why I love them so much.

Halo and Viper will forever be one of my absolute favourite book couples and I can't see there ever being a point where I don't want to re-read their series.

After my 475487th reread , Viper and Halo still have the best tension and chemistry I’ve ever read. Thank you to Alicia for inspiring my reread!🥰

“So we’re really going to do this? Invite a guy into the fold who looks as pure as a fucking angel?

“Viper, I said in greeting. He inclined his head ever so slightly.
“AԲ.
“It’s Halo.
Viper smirked.
“Same thing.

AHHH they’re my absolute favorite 😍

This book’s sole focus is setting the stage for Halo and Viper’s relationship and how the band is coming to terms with having to start over after Trent Knox, their lead singer, left without notice. It has high emphasis on their tension and sexual chemistry and Halo’s bi-awakening. So, for those who might be thrown off by that, I am here to convince you. Even though the romance doesn't fully start till book 2, I encourage you to still give it a chance because the romance between these two becomes superior and it will be worth it. There are hints sprinkled throughout the story where you can tell their sexual relationship is going to turn into an all-consuming romantic connection.

For example, the hints of protectiveness:

Brian looked to Halo, and I felt something primal claw up inside me, something that made me want to protect the man beside me. I stepped in front of Halo, blocking him from Brian’s line of fire.

The jealously 😩:

As they headed toward us, my eyes narrowed on the guy Viper had chosen. Who the hell wore a tie to a bar? Some stuffy accountant or whatever? That wasn’t at all the kind of person I’d thought Viper would be attracted to.

Their flirting:

“You keep calling me Angel. Why?
“Look at you. Viper swept his gaze over me leisurely, taking his time. Under his perusal, I felt the need to move, unable to stand still. When his eyes came back up to my face, he said, “Still wondering which way you’ll fall. Are you as pure as you look, or are you a dark angel in disguise?

It being only 8% in and Viper already talking about Halo like this:

The guy was a fucking showstopper. He had hair the color of sunshine or spun gold—a shade poets would write about or some shit—and it waved in a sexy tangle of loose curls that hit the collar of his jacket. And that face of his, Jesus. It was perfect. Almost otherworldly. And with eyes a light shade of green, like sea glass…he was almost too damn beautiful to look at.

And like this

“If that’s what you sound like under the influence, I’m dying to see what you can do without any interference. You need to show the guys.
“Show them the song? You liked it?
“AԲ. Viper’s voice dropped down low. “I couldn’t take my eyes off you.

The starting of the obsessiveness:

Halo’s eyes opened and focused on me, and holy shit, he almost brought me to my knees.

Halo looked down to the words and shook his head, and when all that blond hair shifted around his face, the scent of his shampoo filled my head and lungs. Fucking delicious.

Man is HUNGRY for Halo and even obsessed over his SHAMPOO 😩

…and yall this is just the beginning!

Viper is the bad boy of the band. He’s a player, very arrogant, and does not hold anything back. But he’s happy and confident being that way. He's harder to get along with and doesn’t compromise easily. He doesn’t care what others think even when maybe he should keep certain things to himself and not act out as much as he does. But that’s what I love about him. He’s honest, shameless, and goes for what he wants. And he's not one of those playboys who are unbearable with their behaviours. Viper just made me laugh and smile with his OTT behaviours the whole time. Later in the books you get to see how Halo tames THE FUCK out of Viper (you even see it a bit in this book), and how Halo is the only person Viper will listen too. I don’t know why but I live for that shit. And when the MC talks firmly to other people but when he speaks to the other MC his voice is all soft? Yeah, that’s literally Halo and Viper.

So if you love reformed playboy and seeing how the playboy becomes an absolute lovesick fool. You NEED this series your life. It's also rockstars, age gap (Halo is 23 and Viper is 33), opposites attract, tension and chemistry off the charts with hot sex scenes, and bi-awakening. Sorry, I may have gone a little crazy with this review LMAO 💀. I just love them so much.

This book has a ton of pining and a sexual awakening for one of the main characters.
It’s pretty smutty, and there’s not much of an actual plot.

This was fucked. I hadn’t been this wound up about someone in—well, ever. And the first time it decided to happen was with a straight guy? Isn’t that just fantastic.

The two main guys have plenty of chemistry and tension between them. Unfortunately, their entire ‘connection was based on lust, and almost all of their interactions were sex-oriented.
The relationship definitely could have used more depth and actual love.

Viper being obsessed with Halo and him thinking Halo was like a perfect angel, was definitely my favourite part of the book.

Wow. Viper is one horny motherfucker. Yes, I can agree there are certain similarities to my beloved Solo, but Viper def didn’t do the same for me as he did. #sorrynotsorry

The book was okay, I guess, and it just might be my mood or me not liking the rockstar-trope all that much, but I was pretty bored and annoyed. And for now I can’t see myself continuing with this series any time soon.

And I REALLY HOPE they will NEVER EVER release this song:

Cause you make it so hard to think of anything but you
You make it so hard my balls are fucking blue
I want to get inside you, and show you exactly what you do
Whenever your eyes invite me to fuck you like I want to

Feel my hands all over you as I slide inside your soul.
Let me hear you scream for me when I’m deep inside that hole.
I’m gonna put my mark on you, so you smell me when I’m gone.
I’m gonna make your body ache as dusk turns into dawn.

You make me so hard, I want nothing but you.
And tonight I’m gonna corrupt you, the way I want to

Sexual frustration and blue balls. I guess there were worse themes to a song in the past. *lmfaooo Btw, Viper wrote this song for/about Halo, then made him sing it.

Go read Eugenia's summary on this. It's all you need to know and on point!! *lmfaooo

was a very promising start to this sizzling rock n roll themed M/M series, by dynamic duo Frank and Blaine.

When Halo auditions to be the new front man for rock sensations TBD, he doesn’t actually think it will result in the band loving his voice and vibe and asking him to join them permanently, but that’s exactly what happens and Halo couldn’t be more thrilled. He’s excited to make music with these legendary rockers, but it’s hard stepping into the shoes of their former lead singer, Trent Knox, especially when the fans seem to reject the very idea of anyone replacing him, regardless of talent.

Viper, TBD’s lead guitarist, is still bitter at Trent for leaving the band the way he did and he’s certainly removed from the process of finding a replacement, which his band-mates are forcing on him despite his foul mood and snappy attitude. But when Halo walks into the audition room, Viper is forced to take notice. Not only is Halo damn attraction beautiful, even but his powerful voice and hypnotic presence behind a microphone leaves little doubt to all involved that he’s the perfect fit for the band.

With Halo, TBD work together to relaunch their music careers, facing many professional roadblocks along the way, but also finding a new passion and drive for making music together once they realise Halo is a bit of a musical prodigy and has plenty of new ideas to bring to the table.

While their new music begins to grow in quality and popularity, Halo and Viper also grow closer behind the scenes, with Halo realising that perhaps he isn’t as straight as he once assumed, especially when all his thoughts are increasingly consumed by his enigmatic and alluring new band-mate, who has taken it upon himself to seduce the hell out of Halo.

This was an enticing and somewhat steamy introduction to these two characters and the rest of the band members, focusing mostly on the slow-build of Halo and Viper’s sexual tension and their professional efforts to rebuild and rebrand the band. The feelings involved are so far constricted to sexual attraction and consuming desire, but I have no doubt as these two get better acquainted and their personal lives become more entwined that they have the potential to become a really great book couple.

I enjoyed this and I look forward to reading on for more of Viper and Halo’s story.

***

Note: Trent Knox's story (TBD's ex-lead singer) can be found over in book two of Brooke Blaine's solo series, titled South Haven, and runs somewhat concurrently to this story. Although Trent never appears on page in this book, I found it enlightening to read his story first to get an understanding of TBD and why he left the band to begin with. Plus, it was a really good read and well worth the time it took to back-track through these interconnected series.

I wasn't expecting to love this story as much as I did. In fact, I almost didn't read it because many of my GR friends didn't love it. But thanks to a scheduled Buddy Read with Turning Pages at Midnight I gave it a chance. I am so happy I did!

I love rock star and other music related tropes. I also love the gfy trope. This story combines them in the most delicious way. The chemistry between Halo and Viper combined with the detailed description of them making music together is perfect. The UST in the story is off the charts. I can honestly say it hit my happy buttons. I loved both characters and their journey in finding each other. I'm looking forward to reading more about them.

low key questioning my judgment lol*

i have no shame in my reading preferences. i enjoy smut, straight or gay or anything in between. but i'm not one of those middle aged white ladies who read exclusively MM romance and i think that's why this didn't work for me.

the story is about halo and viper. the band TBD has just lost their frontman and viper, lead guitarist, is pissed. until halo, the blonde and angelic straight boy walks in to audition. the story is essentially about them. i can't say it's about their love story or sex. because it was lacking in both departments.

because the story was about the band trying to find success in a post-original-TBD- frontman world and also about viper trying to turn a straight guy.

it bugs me for 2 reasons:

1. viper was a little too persistent when halo gave no indication that he had preference for men. on multiple occasions he thwarted viper's advances. and when he did finally give in it didn't feel sexy or like the tension was breaking. it was just kinda weird and

2. ella frank has done this before. her temptation series is about a guy who essentially "turns" bi. i think it's lazy writing but beyond that, the topic is never handled with any sort of sensitivity. i DO think that sexuality can be discovered later on in life, i DO think that sexual experiences can help you figure out your sexuality. but i think having an overly persistent, bordering on harassing, cocky character trying to get the "innocent" straight guy to fuck him feels wrong.

and beyond all of that, i don't think this story needed to be a multi book thing. the first book is really just leading up to viper getting into halo's pants when it could have been reworked to reveal more of both characters' personalities and in showing their relationship beyond fucking. it was just unconvincing and felt like a lead up.

unfortunately i'm going to be calling it quits with ella frank's books now

*re: i loved the temptation series at the time and now i'm like... yikes

Holy Sexual Tension, Batman! Viper and Halo lit up my pages in this book and I'm obsessed with the both of them. Halo was the more quiet, shy one of the two but there was always that spark of something way more heated hidden in his curiosity that I loved getting to see. Viper, however, never hid that he wanted Halo and his advances had me fanning myself. I was one big ball of anticipation because I just knew that the tension between them was going to explode in the most spectacular way. Spoiler alert - I was not wrong.

As an overall story it was more of a slow-burn type and there are definitely a lot more things to come from the band as a whole that I'm excited for. This was the start to Viper and Halo, but also the entire band so it leaves us hanging at the end just waiting to see what's going to happen with everything. Though, it wasn't the worst cliffhanger that I've ever read. I'm definitely ready for more though!

🎶‘With you, I lose my mind. With you, I lose control. You’ve gotten inside of me. To the darkest parts of my soul.’

That. Was. So. Bloody. Hot!!! I mean, seriously. Like a-danger-of-the-global-warming kind of hot. If you're looking for an emotional, meaningful and inspirational love story, then that's not the book for you. But if you're here for the smoking hot good looking lead guitarist with a dirty mouth and even dirtier imagination and a frontman with a face of an angel and desires of a sinner, then you're in the right place. And don't bother to bring your halo with you 'cause this angel is ready to fall.

“Still wondering which way you’ll fall. Are you as pure as you look, or are you a dark angel in disguise?

I so enjoyed Viper and Halo together. The electrifying sexual tension between them, the sexy teasing, the heated looks they were giving to each other, all Viper's double meanings. I'm serious, everything this man says sounds like it's about sex. He was driving poor Halo crazy LOL

“I can’t sing this, I said, shaking my head.
Viper stopped playing. “Sure you can.
“I don’t think so.
“What’s the problem, Halo? Killian frowned.
“I think it’s too risqué for our angel. Viper’s lips twisted. “Don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll still get into heaven.

In a lot of reviews, I've read that they can't come close to Logan and Tate. Well, I don't know who the fuck are Logan and Tate and let me tell you, I don't fucking care. Viper and Angel delivered exactly what I was in a mood for and I can't wait to continue with their story. In the end, things just got from scorching hot to... well, something even hotter *wink* And I also really like the other members of the band. I'm very curious who will be Killian's lucky guy.

🎶“Feel my hands all over you as I slide inside your soul. Let me hear you scream for me when I’m deep inside that hole. I’m gonna put my mark on you, so you smell me when I’m gone. I’m gonna make your body ache as dusk turns into dawn.”

I wish I could hear the music of all these songs. Lyrics are definitely hot AF. And now I can't get Nine Inch Nails' Closer out of my head. We can say I was a little inspired by this book to have this song on repeat the whole day.

I prefer Ella Frank to Brooke Blaine, if I'm being completely honest. This one didn't wow me, but I did like it.

Not a ton happened in this one, as once again this will be a continuing series. Kind of frustrating. I can appreciate the slow build but not having to wait until book 3 or 4 to get the official HEA.

No cliffy ending, but it also didn't end with Halo and Viper doing any more than hooking up. I can, and do, appreciate the fact that this could possibly be GFY. Hard to resist all of that exploratory sex. Unfortunately there wasn't a ton of it in this book. More to come I am sure though.

So, while I didn't love this one I did like it and I plan to continue on with the series.

Well...I might not be broken anymore. Because I actually loved this book. Like a lot.

Halo lit my kindle on fire. Holy smokes it was hot. This might be one of my favorite books I've read, written by Brooke and Ella as a duo. This was more of a slow burn and it worked beautifully with the narrative of the story. The way they set everything up was amazing and it worked.

I loved getting to know the secondary characters and Viper & Halo's chemistry is off the chart. The story itself was great and it leads perfectly into book two which comes out in a month and I cannot wait to read it.

I absolutely loved this. I've missed reading these two ladies writing together and this didn't disappoint.

Halo and Viper had INSANE chemistry from the moment they met and didn't waiver for me at all throughout this.

It is clear that this is going to be a trilogy for these two and their relationship, as by the end of this we're just getting to somewhere more than just attraction and lust - that they're realizing, anyway.

Trent Knox was from , the second book in Brooke Blaine's solo written South Haven series. He left the band TBD, which is huge and successful, and this is a spin off series about said band.

Viper is Trent's ex-lover or whatever it is they were, and the lead guitarist of the band TBD, and he's the most angry at Trent for leaving, obviously. The other guys aren't happy, but they're making due - Killian, who seems to be the leader of the group, Jagger and Slade - but they have to find a new frontman and lead singer for the band, and after quite a lot of failed auditions, in walks Halo.

Viper is instantly attracted, and it doesn't help that Halo is perfect for the position - he has a great voice and he's just extremely talented. Viper is a little resistant at first because he knows it will go bad if Halo's in the band because of Viper's intense attraction to him. But apparently Halo is straight - yeah right - and Killian persuades Viper to accept because of that fact.

But of course, while Halo has thought he was straight his whole life, he can't resist Viper for all that long and while he's confused at first and it does take until the very end for them to go all the way, Halo can't deny he isn't straight and in lust with Viper for very long.

And despite this mostly being just lust so far in this first book, there were definitely moments laying the foundation for love - I expect that is where it is leading - like Viper's protectiveness of Halo and Halo being surprised by Viper at several points in the book and the very fact that Halo got totalllyyy jealous when Viper was with a guy.

I'm loving these two together, they're just sooo electric and their chemistry jumps off the page, and I'm enjoying the secondary characters too - and I having a feeling Trent and Shaw will pop up, but hopefully so Trent can patch things up with the band.

Amazing first installment in this series and it's like coming home with these two writing together. I ABSOLUTELY loved this. Highly recommend! Can't wait for the next in this series and more of these two sexy men together :D

This was such a fun and original rock star romance! This is an MM romance with two bandmates, but one band member is the new singer and the other has been in the band since they started. Their lead singer bailed. Halo tries out and has an entirely new vibe, but the know they need something different to keep performing without their old singer. Viper is the bad boy with the bad reputation, but this didn't have hte excessive partying, drinking, and drugs a lot of rock star romances have. This focused a lot more behind the scenes of them writing and trying to make the band big again while Halo is confused why he's so attracted to Viper. Viper makes sure everything is completely consensual and I loved how he approached their relationship. I had no idea this ended on a cliffhanger and I need to pick up book two now!

I am a huge Ella Frank fan, read all her m/m books usually on release day but for some reason I put reading this series Fallen Angel off as I thought it might be a repeat of the Temptation series and no one will EVER replace Logan and Tate for me, sounded similar one cocky gay guy and one straight never looked at a guy before guy.

I had a gap in my reading list so I thought I would give Halo a go, it has been a very long time since I have read about a rock group, so this was different for me.

I really enjoyed this, I liked all the guys even Viper (I thought I wouldn’t after a few reviews) and I enjoyed the pace of the story, I enjoyed getting to know the band and being a part of creative side of the band.

Halo and Viper have a strong sexual chemistry which just grows stronger with time, Halo is confused about his attraction to Viper but what I liked about Viper is that he does not push Halo, he flirts plenty with him but he does not push him to do anything until Halo is sure. I love how Viper calls Halo Angel, but he hates it when anyone else calls Halo this.

This is full of sexual tension but low on actual sex compared to other EF books, but I bet the other two in the Fallen Angel series will be HOTTER.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series SOON.

Books about rock stars, or any type of celebrities for that matter, are usually not my cup of tea. There are only a few I've liked, but just because I loved the characters and their stories. Which was not the case with this one.

First of all, there was not much going on here besides writing new songs and Viper being frustrated by his attraction to Halo. I actually liked the beginning, but as the story progressed, I started losing interest.

I never really connected to the characters and to me they never showed any depth or development. Having finished the book, I can't say I got to know them well. Viper was overly arrogant and constantly hitting on Halo to the point of harassment. Halo was cute and talented and all, but I found his sudden change from being straight a bit unrealistic.

Yes, they were hot and had great chemistry, but that's about it. Maybe there will be more development in the next book.

I'm giving this book 3 stars because I liked the writing and there was some great banter.

After their frontman Trent left unexpectedly - the rest of the famous rock band TBD desperately need a new singer.

Enter Halo. A beautiful and über-talented blond angel.

He's the perfect fit for the band.

But he's also too perfect - for Viper.

The poor guitarist is half-way in love with the boy already! How can he be on stage with him every night?!?! Should be easy - seeing as Halo is not gay or even bi ... right?

Whatever Halo his ... Viper can't stop his extreme flirting ways ...

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!

I just LOVE rockstar romances! Nothing better than those for this reader - except maybe .... two guy rockstars!!! EEEEP!!!!!

I adored this book! All the guys in the band are amazing!

And then we have Viper and Halo ... or Angel as he calls him. Adorable!

We just know that poor Halo doesn't stand a chance against the hot rocker ... but of course it might take them a while to get to that happily ever after.

Plus the band has a lot of music-stuff to do to get them back to where they were before Trent left the band. Lots of rockstar stuff for us groupies to squee over!

Three books of fighting for their happy end. I can't wait to see where this story takes us next!

PERFECT ROMANCE!

It was a bit slow-burnish and we have that tiny cliffy - but I really adored the story.
Don't worry about the cliffy - nobody is hanging from a cliff - and book #2 will be with us in 4 weeks!!!

Book-Alzheimer sufferer that I am - I didn't remember that we already know the story of the ex singer of TBD! We heard his story in Brooke's book A Little Bit Like Desire. So if you're a crazy book OCD person like I am - you might want to read that one first - or read it while waiting for !

Ahhh, the “straight lead singer and the gay guitarist. how did I get so lucky?!

Wow! I don’t know what to say. If the term "sexy" is defined by a book, this would be it. I think this is my new favorite series now, but this is just book #1 so I can’t really judge anything. Let’s hope for the best. Halo revolves around Rockstar band trope, but it also focuses on the MCs romance and lemme tell you everything was so FUCKING VIVID. I was so lost inside this book. The way the authors describe the band scenarios and scenes were amazing! - how deep they went inside their own tones and melodies ahhhh, I could actually feel it. It was so much fun!

As this is only book #1 in the series, the romance is still developing so don’t expect a lot from here. But there are lots of tension, flirts and spicy moments that made my heart rate went high like this 📈📈 and it was good, too because the plot moves perfectly - the band, the members, the tension between Viper and Halo. And wow, Halo what a hot fucking name.

Both of the MCs were great. Tbh, they’re not my favorite MC individually, but I still love them and I love how great they are together. Viper was such a flirty. Every word he said is just pure lust, dirty and filthy. But Viper has his own charms I see Viper, the way he described Halo as the most perfect guy on earth ever exist was just *chef’s kiss*. The description was mind-blowing! I love how obsessed he was with his “angel and it was sexy. I also super love the support he has for Halo in the band. It was so cute!!!

I ended the song on a high note—literally—and when I looked up again, Viper’s eyes had widened and then he mouthed, Damn

Halo. Hot name. I am obsessed with his name. So, he’s straight and ofc, that’s my weakness - the “straight guy trope LOL. I don’t have much to say about his personality as he was just fine; still loveable. The only thing I love about Halo is his talents. He knows his way through the band and the way the authors portray his character’s performance in the band, I was so hooked! Even with just words on my Kindle, I can imagine and feel it to the touch of my skin yknow? his talented voice and the way he moves were damn!. Like I said, this book was so true to life, felt like I was living inside of it

Like I mentioned previously, their relationship is still on-going which means I have to get to book #2 NOW but there are a lot of tiny details about the way they connect here. I love how they keep holding onto each other even when they’re not actually together. Like how Halo always wanted Viper’s approval on anything related to the band. It was adorable, gahdamn! The balance between the rock band plot and Viper and Halo relationship, was also perfect. I get more band and I get more Halo and Viper. Awesome!

Holy shit…my song—our song—was gonna be on the radio already? My eyes already found Viper’s and I couldn’t stop the grin on my face as he nodded in approval
always need your boy’s approval huh, Halo you needy little shit 😗😏

vivid-cute-wholesome details i love:
🎸Halo sees Viper online arching his back rocking his guitar
🎸The first band scene together
🎸Halo and Viper sing from the SAME FUCKING MICROPHONE
🎸 THAT ONE PARTICULAR SEXY SCENE!😩
🎸 Viper first time meeting Halo
🎸 on call dirty talks yummy

I was thinking of giving this one 5 stars but I’m a snob when it comes to 5 stars rating so we’ll see how it goes with the other books and I might come back LOL :)

Yeah, HELL NO, DNF

I seem to be in the minority here, leaving me all the more contrite but I REALLY couldn't get behind this train wreck guys, I'm sorry. Why, you may ask? Well....

1. THIS IS NOT ROMANCE. This reads like a 14 year old wet dream. I have to laugh, Viper is the opposite of sexy to me. I'm already half way and I'm bored. There is NO intimacy, no connection past an erection, no getting to know each other, do they even LIKE each other as people? They talk about NOTHING, it literally is Viper being all rapey and drunk frat boy seductive, while Halo stands there like an 18th century Victorian maiden ogling at Viper's biceps. AANNDDDDDDD they don't communcate with each other about each other's feelings. Simply having conjured sexual tension isn't enough when this is a so-called ROMANCE novel with no other elements to advance the plot.

2. The Characters! I actually REALLY loved Try (it was my first mm romance novel) but I am starting to see that maybe Ella Frank's characterization isn't for me. The characters never seem to be actually fleshed out and usually read as flat boring beautiful pornstars. They literally only think about sex and honestly that schtick is getting quite old for my reading tastes. I want to read about interesting characters who are different, have stories to tell, and have complex character arcs. Maybe the golden age of television (Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, Homeland, etc) and some of the better MM romance novels have ruined me, but I can no longer STAND basic ass characters. The author could've delved deeper into Viper's alcoholism, or introduce his struggles with fame, maybe even mentioned his childhood; ANYTHING to make him less BASIC. And Halo was sooooo vanilla, he read like a boring, basic man who had no personality past being able to play instruments. COME ON, give me some OOMF, they live in NYC and they are rockstars for Christ's sake!!!!

I was not HERE for this bomb of bleh, and honestly, I would've liked it better had I KNOWN it was going to be like that instead of waiting for the story to ACTUALLY kick in high gear

*** 5 ‘Pivot Stars***

Ok. I want my own Halo and Viper.

No, seriously.

If I could have my own Halo and Viper all to myself I’d be a very, VERY, happy camper. These two are kind of everything and this is just the first book we get of them. There are more coming and that means we get to find out all the things about them, but what I’ve seen thus far...I adore. Viper is all kinds of blunt, sarcastic, cynical and oozes sex appeal like crazy. But behind all of that is a sincerity that most miss and a really good man on top of it. Halo is laid back, sweet and though young, has a sense of self and maturity that draws you in because you know there is so much more to him than meets the eye.

Viper and Halo’s journey, thus far, is all kinds of delicious, sensuous goodness. The music is their base, but the sexual chemistry between them is nuclear. A simple look between them and sparks start flying. Their dance has been...not so much push/pull, but a deliberate one, like a really tense and sexually charged tango, where both are trying to figure out just what they want, from themselves and each other and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where this particular dance takes them because it’s gonna be good!

I’m a total #Fangirl of these two authors separately, they are amazing, and together? Well, they are simply more. The writing is seamless and engaging and you can feel just how much fun they had bringing this story and these characters to life. I adored Viper and Halo, but I’m all about getting to know Killian, Slade and Jagger more, along with Imogen ~ who I do hope we get more of ~ loved them all and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

That was an opener and a half to this new series from Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine!

It's the first of a trilogy so there isn't a HEA at the conclusion of this part but there is the start of a tentative HFN and it was one which took a long, UST-filled ride to get there.

This whole first book sets up the narrative beautifully, throwing the reader right into the middle of a band in crisis following the unexpected departure of their charismatic frontman (read for the background to that story :)

Viper is a real spitfire of a character, still smarting over the departure of Trent Knox and completely unprepared for the arrival of Halo as a potential replacement. The sexual tension between the supposedly straight new singer and the band's guitarist is off the charts.

I loved the slow, slow burn of this one. Halo can't get his head round his reaction to the pretty grumpy and at times obnoxious guitarist and Viper's still painfully hurt by his friend's desertion of a band they'd been in for more than a decade.

There's lots of teasing, lots of "almost" encounters but the wait is absolutely worth the payoff when it finally comes. This ends with a soft cliffhanger, the authors have said from the start this will be a trilogy, but I was happy with the place Halo and Viper were left in.

Book two is out in a month and book three, the following month, so for those who don't like to leave things hanging, there's not that long a wait until the whole romance will be out. Personally, I was very happy with this introduction to a spectacular pair of characters who are full of charisma and quite clearly dealing with something special.

I have a feeling this series will keep getting better. Book 1 isn’t too deep, basically entirely focused on the UST between the MC’s. I would have loved a second storyline to break this up a bit especially as we’ve got three books for these two to do their thing and I found myself getting bored at times. I’m a sucker for sexy musos though and I’m keen to see what happens here.

I don't know, I just can't seem to get the same feelings between these guys Halo and Viper as I did with Tate and Logan.... Guess no couple can beat them.

Halo was a sweet guy. Viper a bit of a horny asshole but I'll want to know what happens to them futher in the series. I'm forseeing a lot of drama ahead of us.

Za drugim razem dalej zachowuję się jak nawiedzona groupies. Lubię bardzo. Mam słabość do rockmenów, do tej aury złych chłopców otaczającej niezwykły talent.
