I’m the Seattle Sharks power player.
Some call me the Wheeler.
That’s because I score on and off the ice more than any other Shark.
Well, until her. The one girl I’ve wanted for years.
And her brother just convinced me to hire her as my personal assistant.

Faith Gentry.
Sharp. Sexy. Funny as hell.
My best friend’s little sister.
Now that I’m her boss, she’s twice as off-limits.
And I’m twice as screwed.

Having Faith near me 24/7?
It’s a torture I never knew existed.
She sees me like no one else, and that mouth of hers? More than kissable.
Our banter is quick, our chemistry hotter than hell, but if we cross that line

Her brother will kill me.
I’ll lose my best friend, rip our hockey team apart,
And I could lose my stay-in-the-states insurance.

My wheeler past could to turn everything I’ve worked for to ash.
But the more time I spend with Faith, the harder I fall.
And this might be worth taking everything I have coming to me.

He’s wanted her for years. She’s his best friends sister.

“The number of girls you’ve fucked?
“Yeah. So what? I like sex. I like women. Those two things have jack and shit to do with Faith. His chest heaved.
“Without this sounding like we’re having a moment, those two things have everything to do with Faith. You can’t be hung up on a woman and still fuck everything that comes your way. That’s not how relationships work.

She’s a virgin... orally too if anyone is AT ALL interested. I’m sooooo shocked - NOT. He’s a big time manwhore compared to regular manwhores... seriously the way he was spoken about in past books 😖any ladies, any time/place.

I mean even her brother said it: “You do? You know all about the one-night stands with multiple girls? Jesus, Faith, he gets around more than public transportation!

And I ooop

Not celibate since meeting. Instead resorted to fucking redheads bc of her. She had a bf who cheated bc she didn’t put out, ofc 🙄. Homeboy decides it’s time to get serious and hasn’t been with anyone for 9 months in a bid to prove to her that she’s “it for him.

Well thank you very much for your big sacrifice. She will now be hand delivered to you personally because apparently that means you’ve earnt her.

I mean, at the very least, he’s honest about who he was so, she’s gotta decide if she can hack it.

4 Stars.....hmmmmm SPOILERS AHEAD SO READ WITH CAUTION

OK, so I can see that I may very well be in the minority BUT hear me out, lol.... First things first I FLOVED Lukas and couldn't wait to get his and Faith's story! Lukas definitely lived up to my expectations with the exception of a very minor "incident" at the end but all in all he was EVERYTHING I expected and more!

So Lukas, this guy was HOT and I mean smoking in every sense. He was sweet, oh so sexy, considerate, loyal, faithful, genuine and loved Faith without a doubt. I loved how open and vulnerable he was, I loved his honesty and how he was upfront with her about his feelings and it was so damned sexy and a turn-on the way he wore his heart on his sleeve for this girl.

Now Faith....hmmmmm I am so so torn up on my feelings for her. I liked her but also disliked her at times. She was so insecure:( BUT yet I sooooo get it too so I hate to feel so hypocritical lol. I totally get why she felt insecure BUT I was so tired of her repeating the same ole lines to him....yeah it got old after a while. I also wished their relationship had progressed a tad bit differently but that's just me. I felt like I was missing intimacy (non-sexual) in the relationship between the two of them, it all happened so fast. The sex, yes, THAT was spot on perfect for me but I wanted "more" if that makes sense. There was so much more missing between them and I had so wished much more together time that meant more than the sex, "insecurity", non-defining of what they were, then repeat:(

AGAIN MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!! Do NOT read if you don't want any spoilers

Now my pet peeve came at the end of the book. Lukas's plot twist although never revealed until the end, I kinda had a feeling and yes, I was right BUT I hated that he kept that from Faith...that wasn't fair. I also hated the way things were left between them when the reveal came out BUT what I truly disliked the most was how the author had Faith make up to him at the end. Now, that's a no for me, I never want my female lead to ever in a million years "propose" that's just a HELL NO and for me I hated that aspect. Yes, I loved that he countered her with his "make-up" part lol but yeah that just wasn't cool......BUT the Epilogue was awesome and all in all a very good read BUT for me I can't help feeling the story fell a bit short for me....just my feelings.

3 1/2 stars. Lukas was so amazing. I loved how he recognized that he wanted Faith and knew he had to make changes. And he did it, full stop. He was all in. My issue was Faith. She never noticed the changes that he made. When Lukas finally made his move she was receptive but did not trust anything he said. No matter how many times he told her and showed her that she was his endgame, Faith acted like she didn't know where they stood. Honestly, it was a bit annoying to have her continuously question Lukas' motives and where his head was at when he told her over and over again. Also, I could see the major conflict coming a mile away. I was hoping Faith's reaction would be different and the issue would be solved with her believing in Lukas and standing by him. But alas, it unfolded in the common way this issue usually does. Not bad, just wish the plot was a bit less cliche.

There is nothing I'd like more than to be mad at Faith for constantly sabotaging herself but i can't be 🙄 I actually understand it and appreciate it a little. Faith is just entering her adult life and Lukas is already thriving in it. It was a constant reminder of the age difference between the two of them but it was subtle. I'd get so frustrated with her to then remember like yo this girl is 21 ya know? It just showed how much Lukas loved Faith and how patient and understanding he was with her. He was an idiot for not doing what Langley told him to but everyone can't be perfect lol.

One must have Faith, at least Lucas must!

He’s wanted her for like always. She’s his best friend’s little sister and 6 years younger than he is. Those emerald eyes and red hair set him on fire! No woman has ever reached into his chest to grab his heart until Faith. It seems like the timing is never right though.

OMG!! I have met my new book boyfriend. There is nothing about Lukas Vestergaard to be disliked and EVERYTHING to love!

On the advice of a teammate, Lukas reforms his man whoring ways in order to win the hand of the fair maiden Faith!

After 9 long months, fate plays its hand and Faith becomes Lukas' PA.

Their HEA is, as far as Lukas is concerned, already determined. He is just waiting for Faith to catch up!

When he speaks to her in Swedish you FEEL what he is saying!!

In this novel, Samantha Whiskey has created a seriously romantic heart throb and a young woman worthy of his devotion.

Wow!! I can't wait for whichever Shark is next to fall!!

Faith really started to annoy me. She clearly saw the kind of person Lukas was but still kept doubting him. Over and over again. She's the reason for the low rating. I absolutely loved Lukas. A++ for his character.

This gave me major Ryke and Daisy vibes (from & .) Lukas has liked Faith for a while now and she's technically off limits because she is his best friends little sister. This was nothing too special for me and I think this is the only one in the series I didn't care for as much. Like nothing stood out to me, just that they had to keep their relationship a secret. I didn't feel a connection to the characters and the plot was just boring and I saw everything coming. The usual miscommunication happens 80-85% in and it literally could have been solved if Lukas was straight up honest to Faith when she asked him about it.

Also I can't help myself but I'm picturing Luke Eisner (from that Tall Girl movie, and he has a horrible accent in the whole movie) Or like whatshisface... the guy from the Hannah Montana movie, Lucas Till. Which both would be fitting for the fancast of Lukas, because of both their names.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ohhh I must admit that I was a little hesitant for this book because Lukas slept with EVERYONE that crossed his path and I was not particularly fan of Faith ... But the Swedish accent convinced me =D
Reading this book, I realize that what I love about this series is that for once, it is not the women in love who are rejected / who hesitate in front of alphas men who are afraid of their big bad feelings / to get involved but rather women who are afraid to get involved and men who fully assume their feeling for them =D
And I love it (although sometimes I want to find them a nicer new girlfriend xD)
So I loved Lukas, sometimes I wanted to shake Faith up a bit with her insecurities and I saw the drama that could have been easily avoided come ten miles away but it's still a romance that I devoured (this end scene with the MOST CUTE EVER PROPOSAL !!)
In short, want to fight the freezing winter with a romance with sexy Scandinavian hockey players ?? It's here =)
Wheeler by Samantha Whisky is a hockey sports romance that follows the story of Lukas and Faith. This is the eighth book in the Seattle Sharks series.
Lukas was captivated by his best friend's sister the first time he saw her. Even though she’s completely off limits and he’s a lady’s man, Lukas has decided that she’s the woman for him, and it’s time that she knew.
Lukas and Faith's story has been my favourite of the series. It’s rocky, but also all consuming.
This story ticks the sports romance box and adds in best friends' sister, as well as boss/PA relationship.
Samantha Whiskey is winning streak with WHEELER the eighth book in the Seattle Sharks series. Lukas Vestergaard hires his best friend Eric Gentry’s little sister, Faith, as his personal assistant. He struggles with keeping her off limits. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
I love Lukas. He reminded me of Henrik Lundqvist: always well dressed, with model looks. They are both Swedish, but Lukas is not a goalie. Lukas is about to launch a new clothing line called Adrenaline. He needs to hire a personal assistant to help his work load. Lukas has been interested in Faith for Years, so he is hesitant to hire her.
Faith is a fun heroine. She is a student at the University of Washington. She wants to start a concierge public relations firm. She becomes Lukas personal assistant to get experience and the finances to pursue her goal. She is also attracted to Lukas but plans to keep it professional. I love that after working together they truly get to know one another.
The plot was entertaining and skillfully executed. Lukas and Faith have great chemistry and banter. I love that Faith calls him out on stuff. They are believable. They have very human emotions like lacking confidence at times. The last chapter before the Epilogue was perfect. It put a huge smile on my face. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I have read every book in the Seattle Sharks series and enjoy reading about the lives of the professional hockey players and their significant others. As a reader you get invested in their lives and Samantha Whiskey knows how to draw you in and make you want more and more.
Book 8, Wheeler, features Lukas Vestergaard and Faith Gentry. Faith is the younger sister of Eric Gentry who plays for the Sharks and is best friends with Lucas, and is therefore off-limits. Faith is only 21, with a year left in college and I admire her sharp business skills and that she has a plan for when she graduates. She is coming off of a break-up and Lukas being ever so patient, hires her to help with the launch of his new clothing line.
Faith is young so I will give her a pass as there are times I feel she would have handled herself differently if she were older, especially when she was being insecure. I feel she should have trusted Lukas more, but understand her concerns and doubts. Lukas proves he is a changed man, and lets her know in no uncertain terms of his commitment and love for her. He treats her with nothing but respect and the utmost adoration, and the words he uses to convince her of his sincerity are just beautiful, what every woman would want to hear. He is honest, loyal, and 100% dedicated to making their relationship work. He knows the challenges of being in the public eye, but he only has eyes for Faith. More than once this hot and handsome hero bares his soul to Faith, and also to her brother.
Lukas also possessed good business sense knowing his career in hockey will be short-lived which is a quality I greatly admire. He is smart, hardworking, and dedicated to Faith, his new business venture, his teammates and hockey family, as well as loyal to his family and home country of Sweden. I loved the chapters where they traveled to Sweden and the descriptions of the beautiful countryside and traditions.
If you like a HEA, then this book is a must read. These two young lovers have some rocky moments, but finally get their happy ending! I loved how many of secondary characters (who were primary characters in past books) were also featured and that these couples are all going strong. I am hoping the tradition continues as I am looking forward to having Lukas and Faith resurface in Book 9!
I was a bit leery about this one. For the whole time that Lukas has been around he's gotten around, to say he was a man-whore would be 100% accurate. So I wasn't sure that I wanted him with Eric's sister, I liked Faith, she seemed nice, she didn't need to be played. But the way things came out, it was easy to root for these two. Lukas gave up women in hopes of even getting a chance with Faith and it wasn't for a few days, it was for months. He even walked away from her when she threw herself at him, thinking ahead, playing the long game, playing for keeps.
While there was a small stumbling block at the end, that was dealt with quickly and let us get to the best pre-game show ever! I loved how both of these two had the same idea and pretty much made fools of themselves, but neither cared.
I love Lukas. This is another one of those books that it can be read as a standalone but it's so much better when you get get to experience bits of the MCs history in the previous books. I actually had read the Carolina Reapers series first so it was awesome to see Lukas and Faith's story finally.
Hi BookLovers,
The bad boy fell in love with his best friend's sister? YUP! We heard that often in Romance book but this is so romantic and lovey-dovey. Lucas? The Swedish man? Fuh! so hot I'm burning and my panties are just as wet as the snow I know. I just love how patient he is with Faith and her insecurities.
But I was not a big fan of Faith Gentry in this book. I might admire her for keeping her V card but she just so annoying and so kids. You guys know what I mean right? But, don't worry I love the ending of this book.. Hehe but not going to reveal go read.
Highly Recommended! :)
xoxo, Kath!
Okay I hate to say it because I've been enjoying this series so much but I think this one was my least favorite. The others in the series being Grinder, Enforcer, Winger, Rookie, Blocker, Skater and Bruiser. I feel like this book served a purpose in furthering the series and also looping in the new series that starts with Axel which I accidentally read first (oops, I'll probably reread it now before continuing onto the other ones). I honestly just felt like this one was a let down. I was so excited going into this one because Samantha Whiskey had been setting the stage for so long like this had been hinted at I think since either Blocker or Skater which is dedication. I do give Samantha Whiskey credit because she plays the long game versus the short game because now that I've read this one the whole set up for Axel makes total sense and she always sets up the next book before finishing the one she's on. However, I just felt like Lukas was way too good for Faith and I generally feel the other way around that the girl is too good for the guy but oh well here we are. I just felt like every five seconds Faith needed some sort of validation and she was surprised every time Lukas told her the same thing. Faith was just really irritating because she wouldn't trust Lukas and yet she kept saying that she trusted him so much. Just not it for me and the whole conflict in the end was weird because they honestly had been dealing with conflicts throughout the book that last one kind of seemed pointless but the ending was really cute! Anyway because of how much the author set up the next book and the next series and the pieces of Lukas and Faith's relationship that I liked I'm giving this book 3.5 stars. - Hannah
I was really excited for this one because I read the Reapers series first... but Faith was so insecure and so horrible that I almost didn't finish it.
I want to read Harper and Nobel's story but I may need to take a break from these for a bit because the female leads are kind of terrible people in the majority of these books. Like... I still like the books but the main area of conflict always make me hate the character and I don't even care what progress they come up with later.
I know most wouldn't approve of Lukas Vestergaard, Seattle Sharks star player and major man whore extraordinaire, falling in love with his best friend and fellow teammate, Eric Gentry's awkward, and insecure, younger sister, Faith. it's been a couple years since he was first laid eyes on her and he can't get her out of his head. Though Faith's brother may not notice his best friend's obsession with his sister half the team knows. His other best friends, Noble and Porter even telling him that if he really wants a chance with her, he's going to have to give up his player ways. It's been five months since his self imposed chaste life when he finally has a chance with her and this is where the story takes off.
There's six years in age between them so Lukas really feels that he has to reign in his desires when it comes to Faith, allowing her to grow into an adult and pursue her dreams, only coming to him when she's ready. Faith on the other hand interprets this as his rejection of her and avoids him for four months; until a job opportunity that can lead to the career of her dreams opens up. Becoming his personal assistant allows them to work closely together, while at the same time fight their attraction to each other.
I love that Lukas realizes she is the only one for him and he does his damnedest to allow her to blossom into the person she is meant to be. His terms of affection and declarations are all spoken to her in his native tongue, Swedish, which she doesn't understand, thus not knowing his true feelings for her. Though he understands and speaks English fairly well, I love that there is still some culture and language barriers in expressing himself which affects the relationship.
Faith on the other hand, did make me a little nuts with her constant lack self worth and her wallowing in her insecurities and body image. Even though she has a really tight, supportive relationship with her two roommates, this seemed a bit over the top, when Lukas was treating her as his queen.
I expected the twist in the story that tears them apart but felt the scene with Faith's reconciliation over her feelings towards Lukas and immediately having to reconcile the situation was a bit forced. The reconciliation itself though, was funny and heartwarming.
I'm anticipating books on Faith's BFF Harper and Shark's player Nobel, and just know there has to be one between Lukas' PR person Langley and his BFF Axel. Please, please, please, please...
Argh, great. Figures...
So, I tagged this one as #don'tread and #assholehero... but didn't file it under #read but #toread... and here we are.
The reason why I originally didn't want to read this one ? The hero was portrayed in quite a negative light in the previous book(s). He was a manwhore. A manwhore who was interested in a very specific woman but still thought it was okay to sleep with other women in the meantime. To his defense, she also had a boyfriend for a while...
Anyways, in this book, we find out that the hero remained celibate for nine months. He basically decided to wait for her and well, I thought that was lovely and I kinda forgave him for what happened in the previous book. Cause we don't really see or read about that in this one so I decided to see this as a separate novel.
MCs?
She is his personal assistant. She also has a famous brother (Eric). She is a great friend and quite ambitious and confident.
He is a confident NHL player (Eric is his BF). He is also a philantroper and a family man (his family is in Sweden, though).
What I liked about this one?
It takes the hero a while to convince the heroine that he has been waiting for her and that he wants her - not just as 'his flavour of the week'. I Iiked that they worked together for quite a while before anything happened. I Iiked that he gave her time.
Why I don't like this book that much?
The heroine is a virgin. Yes, she is younger than the hero. Yes, I am glad she didn't sleep with her ex boyfriend. But come on... Him being a player and her a virgin? It is getting sooo old!
Omigod!!! I love this one! So now I can’t decide which of the last 3 or 5 or all is my favorite!! These two have great chemistry together. I fell in love with both characters in the previous books.
I couldn’t wait to read Lukas and Faith’s book. I somehow knew I was going to love it.
Lukas meets Faith when she moves to Seattle to go to college. He can’t get enough of her and his fallen head over heels for her. Because Faith is Eric‘s little sister she is off-limits to any shark. Lukas just can’t stop thinking about her. Now Faith has a boyfriend and Lukas must stay far away from her. But now Lukas finds out she has broken up with her boyfriend and wants Faith for himself. Their first meeting alone doesn’t go the way Faith was hoping. It is Faith‘s brother Eric who brings them together because he is unaware of their attraction to each other. I was just so happy Lukas waited so long for Faith. It was nice to see him so committed to her. The attraction and them unwilling to admit to each other how much love they shared was what had me in love with this book. I could almost feel the love Lukas had for Faith. I was just so happy to see some of the other sharks come to Lukas‘s defense with Eric. I was so happy to see what happened at the first preseason game.
In the Epilogue I was happy to see what had happened. It was nice to see the details of suits and dresses. Both families came together to cherish this couple.
From the moment they met Faith Gentry found her way into his head and his heart, and he knew from that day that he would never be able to let her go. But acting on his attraction for her would do irreparable damage to his friendship with her brother, and their team, so he set his feelings aside and started to clean up his act. He figured that if he could present himself as a changed man, worthy of her, that maybe her brother would be able to see that they truly belonged together.
Now nine months later he is ready to make his move, but the question is, is she ready for the new man waiting to win her heart?
From the very first page, Wheeler pulled me in, had me addicted, and overwhelmed me with swoons and feels! This newest addition to the Seattle Sharks series was full of angst, emotion, passion, drama, and came with a uber sexy hockey god that totally stole my heart! I loved meeting Lukas and Faith, their captivating love story had the temperature rising and my toes curling from start to finish, dare I say they are my new favorite couple in the series! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it will have you feeling the words and steam the whole way through!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Lukas has always been there for a good time. He noticed Faith from the beginning but she was too young and she is his best friends little sister. When one of his teammates notices that he seems a bit more than just attracted to her, he suggests Lukas change his manwhoring ways to prepare himself for a real relationship.
Faith thinks Lukas is just out for a good time and when he turns her down, she’s embarrassed but she’ll survive. When she finds herself working as his personable assistant ant, she sees a completely different man than she expected.
I loved that once Lukas admits that he wants Faith, he’s very clear. It’s not a fling. It’s not halfway. He means for her to be his endgame. He doesn’t want to keep her from living her life, he’ll wait. But if they start, then he means for it to last.
I was so surprised by how clear and committed Lukas is. He can see his environment clearly and he knows how that world works. He wants Faith and he’s set to get her.
A lot of times, in these sports romances, the woman is expected to adjust to all the women etc, but Lukas tells her she comes first. The man often has to come to terms with his feelings but Lukas knows his heart and he’s not afraid of it. I really loved that he was the one who understood his emotions.
I can’t believe it’s close to the end of the series. These books have been so well done.
Lukas and Faith
I have been waiting for this book since I read Axel before beginning this series. I have loved getting glimpses of Lukas throughout the series and I loved his relationship with Hudson and the advice he got from Hudson in Bruiser. That advice really created the change in his character that allowed him to be ready for Faith.
This book was so well written and I loved Lukas devotion to Faith. Even before she knew he was all in, he was there, waiting for her to be ready for him. I loved his inner monologue and his use of Swedish words for the things Faith wasn’t ready to hear. I also loved that even though this was very much a brother’s best friend romance, there was very little fight between Lukas and Eric.
It seemed like there was an underlying theme of insecurity. Although Lukas was famed for being a playboy, he wanted to be seen as more, and there was so much more to Lukas character than being the handsome hockey playing model. And Faith was insecure about being enough for Lukas, despite his insistence that she had been it for him for years.
This was a good addition to the series and had a lot of lead in to Axel’s story, which is the first book in the Carolina Reapers series. It was a brother’s best friend, workplace, friends to lovers, age gap romance that brought the spice along with the heart and a little bit of angst.
Another great book in the series. This one about Lukas who was very much into sowing his wild oats and then realized that he needed to become more serious in his quest to get Faith, his teammate's little sister, to take him seriously. (this is a stand-alone romance but seriously, read the series. It's great and I know I fell in love with everyone on the team (and their significant others) because they are just that great)
I think I loved this book because I loved Lukas- he was steadfast in his love, although he did do some silly things. Faith needed a bit more faith (but then where would the angst come from?) but overall, this is a relatively low angst book that really just helps us stay entrenched in this hockey family. I love this group and I know i'm reaching the end of the series but I also know that the next series (Carolina Reapers) includes players that we introduced in this book, including Axel and Sawyer.
Overall, I really recommend this book as well as the other books in the series. i'm also a huge fan on this author who writes well and does a great job balancing details of the hockey game with the romance. (I'm assuming, since I don't know very much about hockey at all!)
Lukas has wanted Faith for years. The problem? She’s his best friends little sister. Oh, and he’s a manwhore.
It’s been mentioned in previous books how easy Lukas is. And his teammates warned him off Faith since she first moved to Seattle. Cue book 8. Faith recently breaks up with cheating ex boyfriend and throws herself at Lukas. She’s been attracted to him but had a boyfriend - plus he’s a whore. So she’s throws herself at him at a masquerade fundraiser. But while Lukas wants her, she’s his endgame so he doesn’t want to be a rebound or a regret. So he enjoys her and gives her a hint of what they could have but walks away. She ends up taking a job as his personal assistant. Can they remain professional or will their chemistry take over?
I appreciated how much Lukas wanted Faith. How he was ready and willing to wait for her, until she was ready for a serious relationship with him.
So while I enjoyed the storyline and chemistry; I found Faith too needy. It was hard to really get into this relationship like I did the others in the series. I read quickly, but this book took me a little longer. I didn’t struggle to put it down.
Still a decent addition to the series. And as always, I liked the glimpses into previous characters stories.
Easily a 4.5 star read for me. Though, I may have cheated a little bit. I read before reading the Seattle Sharks series. (Hence the reason I came to read these before continuing with the Carolina Reapers series) Alright, I love me some Swedes and since I met him as Axel's oldest and greatest mate, I loved his character already.
No brainer, I loved this story line. The only thing that bugged me was the last chapter, on the ice moment....before the game started. I don't want to give anything away, but honestly, that was the only thing that bothered me. I loved it. I also loved the continuing banter between all of the previous characters, as well as newly introduced.
Last thought, I want to praise and go on about my love for Vestergaard but I feel the need to allow you to discover who his true character is. Giving up any of the reasons to why I love this paring so much, wouldn't be as fun as discovering them on your own. So you're welcome! ;)
On to the final book....I'm kind of sad, but I want to get back to the world in which Axel lives, so I'm not THAT sad!!
