Every girl wants a beast. Not all can handle three.

Adeline:

On Earth, I was a curious explorer and government research scientist, but I was always looking for more. But when I stepped through an ancient gateway portal, I didn't expect savage beasts to claim me as their own.

There is nowhere to hide. Nowhere to run. They own me now, and they won't stop until they all get a turn. And though they’re driven to inflict pain for their pleasure, they promise to love me. Forever.

There is no going back. Out here, love is primal.

*Dark gateways and portals to different realms. HOT alien beasts set on taking and claiming the only woman to step inside their natural habitat. Primal is a full-length, dark sci-fi reverse harem romance. Note: this novel is downright filthy, wild, and contains a HEA you won’t want to miss!

Very original!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 🤨😟😳😍

The heroine: Adeline - her father was a scientist and a researcher for the government. He worked on some highly confidential projects. Adeline was very young but her father liked to tell her about what he was working on. Portals to other realms, he said and one day her brought her to his work at a black site. She was supposed to stay in the car, but got out and made her way to the portal. She saw three beings that she was not supposed to see. It made her want to become just like her father, and she dedicated her life to finding the portal and getting back to those beings she once saw.

The Heroes: Cadmar, Magnus, Donovan - They are men, but also beasts from another reality. They protect an ancient tablet and are driven by their urges. They cannot die.

“Cadmar fought and lived by the heart, not his fists or beast prowess. Same with Donovan. His job was to find medicine and gather resources. My job was to kill. It’s how I was designed to be. All I really wanted was to leave.

The Story: This was a very odd story. The prologue was understandable, but once Adeline was grown, the whole thing became very confusing and disjointed. It was supposed to be like that, but I didn’t like it at all. She was at someplace called The Zone, which seemed to be a portal that was located in a hotel room or an old hostel somewhere in the Amazon rainforest. Apparently people who go into The Zone can’t get out by themselves and once there, they start hallucinating. So everything was very unclear as to what was real and what was a hallucination.

Adeline’s ex-boyfriend Zane shows up in The Zone. He wants her back but also seems to have some ulterior motive. Apparently her mother or her parents paid him to come since she has been single-minded in trying to find the portals to the three beasts she saw as a child. Adeline had once loved Zane but he betrayed her and was sleeping with her best friend. So him showing up was weird, though Adeline wanted to help him out of The Zone. Like I said, it was all very disjointed and hallucinogenic.

The story gets a lot better and everything from the beginning is eventually explained perfectly. The whole world they are is hallucinogenic, though it gets less so as you understand what it is and how it was created. The men/beasts are also explained and though this story is different than any I have read before, I really liked that about it. I liked that it took a while for everything to be explained. I was glad I didn’t stop reading at the beginning when I got frustrated.

One thing I hate about most erotic romance where there is a side storyline of suspense, action and adventure is the fact that it seems like in so many, the story builds to a big finish, where there is a war, some mystery solved or whatever, then when things are all wrapping up, the author doesn’t just end the book, they always have to have one last steamy scene for some reason. So then after that another wrap up is needed, or an epilogue or something. Where in movies, they have the big action sequence and when the main characters come out on top, it ends. I kind of like that better. I never really have the need to read that one last steamy scene after all the action is over.

I couldn’t get through this atrocity called a book. I stopped at chapter 8. Judging from a good portion of reviews I missed nothing. I had to stop this book and read the reviews to see if I might’ve been the only one confused with this and, turns out it’s not only me. The beginning of this book that was supposed to set the stage made no sense. I mean it, no freaking sense. Couple that with the weird talk of these “God’s/aliens/insert all the other adjectives this author used and it was really cheesy and dumb. In fact I had to highlight some of these quotes bc they were just too lame not to revisit: female lead: breed me like an animal, one of the male characters: “at long last another female c* has come for me to seed. Other male character: “show me your hole earth-child..... so incredibly dumb, cheesy, and lame. I have to question the sanity of anyone who have this more than 2 stars.... thank Jesus it was free.

Twists and Turns

This book had so many twists that I kept going back to make sure that I read what I did. There was some darkness but well taken care of. I couldn't put this book down. I had to finish it. Can't wait for any other books to read from this author.

My highlights are cringe dialog but just had me like okay what the F. is that. I should have dnf this but yeah

Okay I sat with this as I had lunch and I figured it out the plot would have been great if the book wasn't all over the place

The beginning for me was just odd and didn’t make quite sense.
I think because it was so fastly paced, the ability to pick up what was being put down was a little confusing and hard to picture.
When I came across:
“I was twenty-eight and well on my way to becoming an adult..
Umm...okay
(‘in the states anyway)
So at age 18 your technically a legal adult, at age 21 to drink, I’d say at 28 you’ve reached your goal by 10 years. Congratulations.
So in this book universe you need to be 30 years old, to be an adult then? Lol

I really was Honest to Goodness interested in the book, but at chapter one you given a boat load of just filler and much unneeded info and details and it kind of continued further the more I read.
I just..
I don’t know I guess I couldn’t click with the writer, I found Adeline to be annoying and I guess she’s supposed to be some badass chick but I found it WAY to unbelievable. I just didn’t like her at all.

And the Guys:
“Aggressive in the sac, big tough guys but honestly they were wimps in my eyes and just annoying as Adeline.

The smexy? Ehh... there are a few.
Some very long and some short, one minute she’s terrified then she’s dirty talking (nothing turns my stomach more then weird sudden behavior), kink-ish scenes I guess?
Honestly I was bored, I’ve never been more annoyed at a word before but ‘master was mention a few times, but honestly it felt wrong in this book cause it just did not fit in the universe.

This book was not at all what I was anticipating.

Would I read more from this Author? I honestly don’t know.

Okay, so firstly, this book is a mess, I got 70% of the way though and still couldn’t figure out what was happening it’s like I was reading the ramblings of someone high on acid. The plot to this book is no where to be found, and the characters were a mess. One minute they are one way, then it’s like they are wholly different people. The MFC is kind of annoying. There is no character development because there is no solid characterization going on, not to mention that the background of the story is completely missing and when we are given some backstory, it’s so jumbled and full of holes it’s no help at all. The overall idea, (from what I can gather) is that this whole thing is a science experiment gone wrong, but it still makes no sense. And I also picked this book up because it was listed as omegaverse, and it is definitely not an omegaverse so just beware of that also. Maybe someone else saw what I couldn’t, but I was so confused and frustrated I couldn’t get past 75% (which is a fair shot)

I love a good reverse harem story, so I was excited to give this book a go. Sadly, I was disappointed from the start. The writing is choppy and contradictory. The verbiage used is cheesy in some places and unnecessary in others. I like how the chapters are broken out by the characters to give different POVs, but there were times I could not tell whose random scattered thought process I was following. I was hoping that the sex scenes would be good enough for me to get over the fact that the writing was crap, but the ones I made it through were not. In fact, the crap writing ruined them further. The last straw for me was when they finally had her and the thoughts of how to send her back came up immediately. I get the author has to build some suspense for that HEA to be fulfilling, but it just was not done well with this book. I absolutely hate starting a book and not finishing it, which is why I will normally push on, but I just could not make myself finish this book.

While I believe the author had a great idea with this book, I found it difficult to follow. There were times of great brilliance because I could feel the potential but then a scene wouldn't make sense to me. I think the author was trying to keep the plot from revealing itself too quickly but instead it was confusing. There were layers to this story which gave it intrigue and mystery. I think I understood at the end what was going on and the fact her beasts were more than they seemed but I'm really can't be sure.

An absolute mind F*** waste of time!

I don't understand a freaking bit of this book it made absolutely no sense the authors way of writing was horrid the intimate scenes the way they were described were gross and childish I mean she called one of the guys man part a bone I mean really?! I've read a TON of Romance novels and even some of the darkest and never have I ever til this book read that before I do not recommend this book!

Weird

Think author is trying to be to artsy or maybe just truly horrible. Some of it reads so choppy and simple sentences. The rest is so artsy weird it isn't understandable. Maybe take a writing class or something. She seems to keep making effort to write and seems to have good ideas. Just needs to learn how to write normal to tell a story without such weirdness.

I don't really even know what to say. The author was trying to mix erotica, paranormal, and a few other things that don't really go together and make it work. I couldn't really grasp what was going on during the beginning after chapter two or three because so much was going on.

That book is a tricky one to rate. I don't want to say, it is a complete failure. The story was in some way compelling and interesting. It was a Dark-Sci-Fi RH (Reverse Harem) setting. A lot of promising points.

Only the execution wasn't perfect. The plot was a gem in the rough, but still strange and confusing at times. We don't get all the explanation, probably needed, to understand what the author really intended. I really wished the world and all would have been better introduced and explained.

The characters. Well, again, a difficult topic. For the most time, all the actions and all seemed to be volatile and were in a stark contrast sometimes. Not to forget the awkward dialogs and terms. From the blurb, I had different expectations. After reading, I'm not really sure.

There is a lot of heavy name-calling (she's their slut, earthy whore, hole, c* for fucking etc.). With a strange mix of emotions. The sexual content itself. Some were more steamy/hot, than others. Though, I wasn't entirely sold. The whole setting surely required an introduction.

Overall, it was ok, I guess. I read it through and I liked it somehow. I'm just not sure, if I want to read the other books in the series. But solid 3 stars.

hot

But confusing

This is a personal experience, not necessarily a fault of the author.

(spoilers)
The writing felt like I was having hallucinations along with the heroine. I found myself asking: wth is going on now? I think I fixated on the science behind this story because it didn’t make sense to me. If you asked me what happened, I can tell you the basics: 3 men trapped in a realm and turned into “beasts. A girl stumbling into their realm. Girl growing up and trying to find the realm and the men and some stone tablet that’s supposed to grant a wish.

Seems simple right? But a lot of things weren’t adding up. How in the world did Adeline get back into the realm? How come she was easily pulled back from it when she was a child? How the hell did Mag live? What kind of nonsense explanation is “something must have happened? How come the men kept saying Adeline “freed them even though they were still stuck in the realm? Was it freedom from their madness? Zane as a character did not make sense. Wth were his motivations? His actions and the way he was described didn’t make sense. How did he get out of the cage?

The sexy times were hot but don’t expect a lot from the science side. Not a fan of the world building here.

Wow i really liked this story. I liked the fact that she writes outta the box or should i say out of the norm. This story has a few twists and turns that i certainly didnt see coming and honesyly didnt think it wasnt going to be a great hea for Adeline but it was *grins*.

It all started off when her father to her to a secfret facility, told to stay there, being a young girl she just couldnt resist. So she snuck in, their she did wh a t she wasnt surposed to do, touch a crystal. When she did she saw three what loo ked like Aliens.
Years later Adeline is a scientist try i ng tto find the door into the world of where the beasts where. The beasts names are Marcus Cadmar and Donavan they know she is theirs so when she comes back she should be theirs for the taking, but theirs one who has come a fter her causing trouble.

Honestly this book really is good its hot sexy and not to mention twists and turns which make it a good read. Totally worth 5 stars

When an alternate reality meets science fiction!
by sewsummore

Addie has spent most of her life searching for the three "alien humanoids she came in contact with when she was only seven years old. Now a respected member of a team of scientists searching for many of the answers facing the world today. She entered an alternative reality for these answers but instead finds three humans tranformed by their time there. The very same beings she saw when she was seven. For the three men, she is the one they have been waiting for, one who will transform their lives, the one they had been waiting years to return. This book had an unusual story line that at times left me confused. I usually enjoy sci-fi romances and become immersed in their sci-fi world, but this did not happen with this book. The menage aspect of this book was well planned however and I thought well done.

Addie's father was a bigshot scientist and when she was little he took her to a secret place he worked at. She touched an artifact and got exposed to somethings in another realm. This starts her fascination with working in her field to explore and investigate unknown things. When she is working she ends up in the realm she was exposed to as a child. And the beings there want her for themselves and to create their own world. When someone from her past tries to make her go home the beings that she is with fight back. Will Addie stay with them or will she choose to return home?

This is a fast paced action adventure romance that will have you on a thrill ride. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

The author’s imagination in crafting the environment and setting of the story is fascinating. Once the story timeline skipped to an adult Adeline, I have to reread some parts to figure out what’s going on in that hotel. It feels like the main character is hallucinating; it’s kind of trippy...maybe some disbelief trickling in but I was confused. The sex scenes were very clear though but with the initial one with Cadmar has a bit of questionable consent. The rest, with Magnus, Donovan, and Cadmar (separate or together) are steamy and rough. At times, the narrative is nerdy which enhanced the story. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Honestly, I couldn't get far in the book. To start with the beginning was rather convoluted. Spoiler: It starts with Adeline as a kid and her father's work as with portals to another dimension(?). Next thing you know it's skipping forward and she's an adult in a strange place with hallucinations and some dude calling her a slut and telling her he's her God and he's gonna show her what's what and she just seems to take it. I stopped right there it was way too much for me. It was really confusing and I am just not into any of this. I mean it could turn out to be a great book but for me, the beginning was just too off-putting.

I’m always intrigued when a story has an alternative universe with a mind of its own. The plot is sinister, mysterious and a little sad. With a good mix of likable characters and characters, you learn to hate. Adeline does surprisingly well not losing her sanity or humanity, with the challenges she must face and accept. Her guys are a strange mix of primitively sexy and scholarly. And yet they are perfect for her. This is definitely a must read.

Project Onyx - there is always a conspiracy

>>> Twenty years ago, Adeline’s erroneous brief appearance was a trigger for the awakening of awareness in three beasts subsisting in an alternate realm. So many secrets held within, so many lost years spent waiting in misery, sadness and horror at consequences of plans gone drastically wrong, until they could finally set their eyes on the one female returns to be heralded as a prize of sorts. Dark and intense story in its explanation of government agent policy and the men who were deemed expendable.

Filthy, Obsessive, Primal Love

What is real and what is not? OMG, this is the best book this is the best read. It is a complex story about true love and selfless sacrifice. Addie is what they had waited for, to finish their stories. The worlds Penelope has created are awe inspiring. Even with all that is happening Penelope managed to slip in some really hot rough sex. If you have triggers with spanking and rough sex Do Not read this book. If you love hot rough adventure and sex this is the book for you.
