Jonathan Emmett was born in Leicestershire in 1965, the son of a factory fitter and a primary school teacher.

Jonathan loved books from an early age and some of his earliest memories are of visiting his local library. The picture books that he borrowed then, including Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss and Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson have had a great influence on the picture books that he now writes.

It was while Jonathan was at college, studying architecture, that he first started developing his own illustrated texts, illustrating poems and lyrics that he鈥檇 written. Pleased with the results, he found himself spending more and more time on writing and illustration. Although he qualified as an architect, he found the job unsatisfying and began pursuing a career in children's books in his spare time, eventually going full-time in 1995, a few months before his thirtieth birthday.

As well as writing picture books such as Bringing Down the Moon, Someone Bigger, Pigs Might Fly and Ruby Flew Too, Jonathan also writes and paper-engineers pop-up books. His books have won several awards including the Red House Children鈥檚 Book Award 鈥淏ook for Younger Children鈥 for Pigs Might Fly and the Kiekeboekprijs for Bringing Down the Moon.

He now lives in Nottingham with his wife, Rachel, and children, Max and Laura.

So sweet and gentle and also full of emotions. I really enjoyed reading it, plus, the translation was also a good one.

People need stories like this. Mice? Maybe not. Not real-life mice. But human-type people? Definitely.

In adding this volume to humanity's shelf for Reassurance of Love, has Jonathan Emmett contributed much that was new? Hardly. Here's a typical quote:

"You always find me," giggled Littletail.

"Do I always?" said Longtail.

"Well, it won't be forever. One day you will be too clever for me to find."

THE LANGUAGE OF THE HUMAN HEART

As you and I may guess, there's nothing intellectually original in this book. Nothing conceptually challenging. Yet that sort of thing would be directed at the Human Intellect.

Whereas this story meets a different kind of need, a human need. To fulfill the Human Heart, we don't need originality, merely an authentically nurturing feeling that we can trust.

For good reason, children love to read stories like this one, reading them over and over again. We adults may choose different stories, more sophisticated ones. But, seems to me, it's still variations of what comforts the Human Heart.

FIVE STARS to author Jonathan Emmett and illustrator Daniel Howarth. And thanks.

To be honest, this is the kind of sweet book a parent loves, and kids would probably roll their eyes at, or would once they get a bit older. The baby mouse and the daddy mouse have fun together, and culminates with the daddy telling the baby, that no matter how big and strong the baby gets, the daddy will always love him. Sniff Sniff.

Message learned: Children will grow up and change, but some things always stay the same.

Saccharinely sweet tale of a father mouse and daughter mouse. Children will be able to easily relate to the younger mouse and the games she plays.

There's nothing truly outstanding here, but it's a good book to read while snuggling up with the kids.

I picked this book, because it had a cute cover, and the title sounded something like another book, that I really love.

The story was kind of cute, but not great. I liked reading it, but it isn't a favorite.

A sweet bedtime story about a father and daughter mouse playing in the forest throughout the day. The father constantly assures the daughter through both actions and words of his love for her. Not a great group read aloud, but it would probably work in a pinch.

This is a fantastic board book, as not only is it a story about a father mouse and his young daughter, but it's a beautiful story that no matter how children grow, their parents will always love them. As a parent, I loved that power message. Jonathan Emmett does a fantastic job at expressing the ways the father will always love his young daughter, no matter what she can or can't do.

This is story is a hit with my children, as the illustrations are great, the story is powerful and fun, and it's a book that makes them think, and ask questions similar to the ones Littletail asks her father, Longtail. I Love You Always & Forever is a great book to add to your bedtime book collection and one I definitely recommend picking this book up.

This is the story of Littletail and Longtail Mouse. Littletail and Longtail were playing in the forest. 鈥淐atch me if you can!鈥 said Littletail. She wanted to play with her Daddy. Littletail may have been fast but of course Longtail was faster. He scooped up Littletail. 鈥淵ou always catch me!鈥 cried Littletail. 鈥淲ell it won鈥檛 be forever鈥 said Longtail. Throughout the day they played other games like hide and go seek and follow the leader. Always Longtail caught Littletail but he always reminded her, 鈥淲ell it won鈥檛 be forever鈥. When Longtail was tired it was time to go home. They snuggled up in the nest. 鈥淚 love you, Littletail鈥, said Longtail. 鈥淵ou always say that鈥, murmured Littletail. 鈥淒o I always?鈥 asked Longtail. 鈥淲ell, that will be forever. I love you always and forever鈥.

This book shows a love of father to his young daughter. I like how the father always tells his daughter that someday she will grow up to be an adult just like her father. He tells her that she will grow to be faster and stronger then her father. Even though she is young, her father never tells her that she cannot do something; instead he tells her she will do it better when she gets bigger. The father shows his daughter unconditional love.

The learning experience would be to teach children about how much they will learn during the school year. I would make a portfolio for each child in the class room where they would keep certain work materials in it throughout the year and let them look through it periodically to see their improvements.

This is another book that I think I enjoyed more than Lyra (25 months). It's very reminiscent of Little Nutbrown Hare in that it's a cute, simple story with a loving animal daddy figure, or other male caretaker, since it doesn't actually specify the relationship, just uses male pronouns for the "Long Tail" and female for "Little Tail." This might go over better for the under-2 crowd. Lyra seems to be at a point now where she prefers stories with a little more going on. This would be a sweet book for a baby shower gift.

I like this parent-child "I love you" book, because the parent refers repeatedly to how the child will grow up to be like the parent. And then ending that the one things that won't change is they will always love the child. Cute and sentimental. Predictable but just right for the young crowd. Still, not what I'm looking for in my Love storytime. Perhaps I'll keep it on display though.

This is a lovely book to read to a child. I first read it to my daughter and she loved it, then she was like my turn. And she read it to be, well she was telling me the story by looking at the illustration and at the end she said, "I love you, mami."
I would use this book as a read aloud and then have children draw a picture about something they do with their parents.

I've read this book to my 3 year old a handful of times now, and while the illustrations are beautiful, I find the story a bit dull. That's not to fault the meaning behind the story. I just thought that it could have been a bit more creative. I gave it three stars for the illustrations and the sentimental value, but I love a children's story that has a bit more magic.

This is just one example of a family love book that totally eclipses Munsch's Love You Forever! The love between the father and young mouse is genuine, normal, and expressed in beautiful terms and charming interaction.

The reason I liked this book so much was becasue it was about a daddy mouse and his little girl. So many of the books written are mother and child books. My girls like the pictures and think that the mice are cute.

Wonderful book about how our children change and how we as parents change, but the one thing that always remains the same is how much we love our children. Sweet book.
