I don鈥檛 usually finish books in less than three sittings, but this one I did finish in one night. Def a page-turner! I stayed up without even knowing, I loved the short stories, the language, the Egyptian dialect and esp the characters.
It was great watching Tarek figure out all the little things that add up to Younis as a person, starting with his diaries and then his short stories . The collection of human feelings one could experience reading this novel is so intense, you go from anger and disgust into sympathy and sadness in a matter of pages.
I'd say the only thing that bugged me a little as a reader was the open ending, but looking back at it now it adds to the mysterious atmosphere the author created for Younis from the beginning so it was better left open like that.
This read was such a great breeze.. Strongly recommend!
