Beautiful. Thought provoking daily devotional. I loved how the author, Susie Larson, laid out each day in an easy to read way. A scripture verse, her message related to the verse, further recommended reading from the Bible, a summary thought and a prayer. It was a call to activate my faith. Thoughtful. Life giving. I loved how she went through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I will read this again taking one day at a time. Some days were challenging for me because the author asked tough questions. I loved this devotional because it truly read like a love letter from God. Reading through it made me want to dig deeper into the Bible.

Susie Larson once again is powerfully inviting her readers to "taste and see" that God is good on a daily basis through her 365 day devotional, Prevail.

Each day is filled with:
- short scripture and further opportunity to read
- a powerful encouragement that encourages the reader to practically live out what that scripture is inviting us to
- a challenge to not just hear these words, but to walk them out
- a prayer to be empowered to change because of the power of God and His Word.

It is beautiful, practical, and memorable. A must-have in the times we are living in. Don't miss the opportunity to own, Prevail!

I was drawn to this book because the 365 daily devotionals are short enough to easily incorporate into my busy day. What I did not expect was what a big "punch" each day would pack!

I love how the devotionals are arranged in order of scripture, which is great organization, yet each day was so relevant to my life! I kept feeling like Susie was in my head, and really challenging me where I'm at.

Overall, being daily reminded to stand strong, and PREVAIL, has been so impactful for me during this season of life. This book really helped me switch my focus from the noise of the world, to leaning in towards what God wants to do - in me, and through me.

If you feel at all discouraged in your walk with the Lord, this is the perfect devotional! I have been moved to tears, encouraged, challenged, and inspired to grow. After MONTHS of being in a spiritual drought despite intentionally reading my Bible and regularly praying, this book became a much needed cup of refreshing water to my soul. Susie's authenticity, wisdom, and ability to weave truths into actionable faith steps is such a gift. This is an EXCELLENT read for anyone who desires to grow in their walk with Jesus. I cannot recommend it enough!

Susie Larson speaks directly to my heart and the struggles that come into my life. I love the way Susie is raw and honest with her struggles because they are so relatable. I also love the way she humbles herself and points you back to God and His Word. God moves and works in and through her. This book will help you to face each day. To let go of the things that weigh you down. Lay them at the feet of Jesus and walk with Him in faith daily in your life. Celebrating the joys, struggles, His perfect timing and love for you! A must addition to your daily readings.

Susie has such a consistent way of making me want to stand a little straighter, and hold my head a little higher—when I read her encouragement. She truly understands her own identity in Christ, and it comes through as an encouraging reminder in every devotional. She has a firm grasp on God’s word and like Daniel, she has been through the fire herself—yet ‘without even the smell of smoke!! These devotionals are thoroughly laid out, prophetic in nature, transparent, and impactful in my life—especially in today’s culture. In these current tumultuous times, Susie is a treasure chest of sage advice and wisdom from above. This book has encouraged me through the Word of God. Through the questioning techniques she uses, it has pointed me daily to the Master, Jesus! I also love a hardback book; this one has has color on every page! I will definitely be keeping (and sharing) this book, to be read and gleaned from over and over.

I knew I'd love this devotional! Susie has such a gift of writing just what I need to hear. One of my favorite parts is the way there are categories at the beginning to search out specific topics. I read this in big chunks (not just one a day)so it was really fun! Can't wait to start over slowly.

I love this devotional. The daily readings are short but packed with challenging and encouraging words. Each day also incorporates a portion of scripture to read alongside the daily reading which many devotionals don't do. This devotional is truly about drawing near to God Himself.

Susie Larson’s heart is so in tune with the heart of Jesus that you can’t help but feel His presence as you read this book. I was both encouraged and challenged while reading this book during this very unusual season in our world. My takeaway challenge was this: God leads us along a windy path that often does not make sense so, what is my “Red Sea?

This devotional is not like the others for me. It gives me a "bigger story perspective" on my situations. I feel like I have a personal mentor to keep reminding me of the different aspects of God's character and His thoughts towards me. It's as if someone understands my daily thoughts, disappointments, frustrations, and struggles and points me to my loving and very powerful Heavenly Father. Some entries were deeply convicting while others were redirecting or affirming. I highly recommend it!

Love this book! It's daily Scripture-based strength for my soul. I find Susie Larson to be insightful, thought-provoking and encouraging. Each day has a Scripture quote, a reflection, a challenge to apply the scripture to my own life, and a short prayer. I'm amazed at how Susie is able to take what are now some very ancient stories from Scripture and make them applicable to the here and now. At this season of my life, I need the encouragement that comes from reflecting on the richness of God's fidelity to His people over time. It gives me the strength and faith I need to keep taking one step at a time, knowing that God's got me!

I see and hear God's voice speaking straight through Susie's writing in this devotional book. As always, her writing is anointed, scripture-based, and so personal. I love the daily devotional format as I can pick it up anytime of the day and read a page per day. The short devotional, scripture, prayer, questions/challenges are filled with so much of God's truth and love for us. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a boost of hope to press on.

In a glimpse from Susie Larson's new devotional book Prevail, she reminds us that "God deserves our reverence, our trust and our obedience," and that there is an absolute connection between our obedient faith steps and God's revelation in our lives. She nurtures in us a heart for God with this daily devotional that encourages, strengthens and challenges us in our walk with Christ. Prevail is powerful in the Word and time and again points us back to God's story and His love for each of us. It will be time well spent if you long to grow in the your faith and be drawn closer to the Savior.

Susie Larson - she's on my website under the "Favorites" tab (JanLBurt.com)

I have highlighted the begeebers out out of her books. Read them. Then read them again.

Sure, I am a book-a-holic. Yes, I read voraciously. And no, neither of those has any actual bearing on this book review.

Listen, folks, Susie Larson's books are, to this particularly voracious read-a-holic, complete stand-alones. It matters not how much I read, even were I to only read one book a year outside of the Bible, that single, solitary (& dare I say incredibly lonely?...I mean, what does it even look like to read just one book a year??) book would almost certainly have been penned by Susie Larson.

Why is that? (asked in my very best Kip from Napoleon Dynamite voice)

She rocks my inner world exactly where it needs to be rocked. She brings in some shaking where things need to be all sorts of shaken up. She hits me right between the eyes and that, my friend, changes my thinking which changes the entirety of my life.

All that happens because she founds every word on God's Word (thank You, Jesus, for Your Word!) & she is real. So very, very real. No pretension, no "fake-ness", just a sweet woman who loves Jesus so incredibly much that in spite of her own health battles & her "I-don't-love-the-spotlight" nature, she shares what the Lord asks her to share.

When someone loves Jesus enough that they will do the very hard work of writing what He's asked them to write, no matter the fallout or the flack, that is someone whose words you should take a look at. Much like the Old Testament prophets, sometimes God calls His dear ones to step out, step up and speak hard words. It is almost as if one of His sweetest and most sensitive children get called out to say big, challenging things to some of His other dearly loved children.

That's how her words are - for me personally, at least.

Now this book, Prevail, is the book for the fall of 2020.

God made no mistake in having her write it probably like a year-and-forever-ago so that it would be released right now. If He made sure we'd have it available when we most needed it, wouldn't it be foolish to not pick it up and read it?

Daily devotions that will change your heart, reset your mind on things above, encourage and strengthen you, and bless you. That's what you'll find in this book, Prevail.

Please pray about whether or not the Lord would like for you to read this book. I think He will probably answer with a "Yes", but you pray and ask for yourself.

Thanks for reading my very "excited" review...I am not a huge fan of the overuse of adverbs, but in this case I am totally alright with my excessive adverbial usage. The book warrants it!

Lord bless you, my fellow Jesus-loving reader!

I’ve loved every Susie Larson book I’ve read & Prevail is no exception! Although because this is a devotional, this one is a bit different. She slowly walks you through the Bible, excerpts from Genesis to Revelation, surrounded with devotional thoughts & prayer. After reading, I’m always encouraged.....challenged (in a good way) & inspired to keeping walking with Jesus.....keep pressing into Him for my strength.....Prevailing each day. I also love the amount of content for each day....not too short or too long.....just enough to give a solid walk in God’s Word, nuggets of truth to contemplate all day long. I plan to gift this one to several this upcoming year.
Susie is the “real deal.....a beautiful sister encouraging us all to hold fast to Jesus.....each & every day! So appreciative she took the time to write this book......there are reminders here I need to read year after year 💙

This is a daily devotion, with scripture reference, a paragraph detailed with info on how to relate the WORD of God into our personal life, and a prayer. Great great way to begin the day;
Susie has a wonderful heart to hear from God and shares His word for us to grow and become ALL God wants us to become.

"Prevail" is the first book I have read by Susie Larson, and I am quickly becoming a huge fan. I have loved the setup of the daily devotionals - a small piece of scripture, Susie's insights, a suggestion for more scriptural reading, a takeaway, and finally, a prayer. Sometimes, I open my bible and stare at the pages, wondering where to start. "Prevail" has given me the focus I was craving for my time spent with God each day. And even more importantly, it has given me encouragement, has challenged me to step deeper into my faith, and has created space for me to be able to reflect and pray each day - which is not an easy feat as a busy wife, mom, and teacher!

God's timing is ALWAYS perfect! I am going through a major life upheaval right now in the midst of a pandemic and God lovingly placed an advanced copy of this upward-facing book in my hands. His love and strength shine through on every page, just wooing me to look to Him for my joy, comfort and help. The author shares wisdom, which can only come from God, as she searches passages from the Bible and imparts His knowledge in an easy to understand devotional format. Even her prayers at the end of each devotional resonate with my heart.

This book is God sent. It has been encouraging my faith at a time when I've been struggling to find a vision for my life. The author has a gift of encouragement and knows how to word things in a way that makes you feel hopeful, even empowered, inÌýa God that is faithful and true. I especially like how each day's context is laid out: a short devotional, followed by guidance on what to read, ponder and pray. I am learning that I need to have more faith in a powerful and loving God.Ìý

I've been reading an e-version copy of Susie's new book Prevail and loving it. It's such a timely devotional. One of my favorite parts of the book is the daily section titled, "Flourish." Day 9, for example, is such a great encouragement and conviction: "You may not be where you want to be, but God has you here for a reason. Find the high place of joy today. Look for those God has given you to encourage. Forgive your offenders and believe with all of your heart that no man, no scheme, and no devil can thwart God's purposes for you!" I also like that each day's entry begins with an applicable bible verse, then ends with a "Learn" prompt to read a related chapter or section of verses. This book is also fabulous for those who appreciate a little "extra" in regards to prayer, as each daily devotion ends with a short prayer written by Susie. This book is exactly what I've needed right now. I highly recommend. The printed version is going to be on my nightstand as soon as I get my pre-ordered copy in the mail! :)

The timing of this book is truly providential. I was looking for help getting my feet back under me as I realized the ongoing impact the covid security measures were going to have on my life, and I found Susie Larson's book PREVAIL. Within the first few pages, I found message after message of hope grounded in God's Word. It was like a glass of ice cold water on a hot summer day. God has whispered His love, reminded me of His presence, and challenged me to trust Him through this book and the suggested scripture readings. I especially love the prayers included in each daily devotional. They are a fantastic springboard for my own prayers, taking me into a reflective response to what I just read. The author is transparent about her struggles in her own spiritual journey which so encourages me in mine. I am drawn each day to the next reading anticipating how God will feed my soul and be just what I need for that day's cares. This book is definitely staying on my side table ready for coffee time each morning.
