A wonderful book about the life of Frida Kahlo. I've read two books in this series so far and they have both been excellent. They do what they set out to do so well and give all the relevant information unlike Little People, Big Dreams series that with nearly every book, in my opinion disappoints one way or another.

This book covers many aspects of Frida's life, not just the positive ones but the accident and tells of her marriage failing due to her husband being in a relationship with her sister but all in a way that suitable and easy to understand for the young reader.

There is a time line, translations and glossary at the back. This is a really nice introduction to Frida Kahlo.

I absolutely adored this children's book!! It was descriptive of her life without being overly graphic but made the reader feel Frida's pain and despair but also her never-ceasing hope! One of my favorite lines in the book was where the author said, "But who was the real Frida Kahlo? This was the question she tried to answer through her paintings, including dozens of self-portraits--the artist's equivalent of a 'selfie'." Using terms today's youth will understand to give life to a fabulous artist that died before their parents were born and maybe even their grandparents (1954) makes this book one of the best biographies of Kahlo for kiddos I've ever read.

This edition is so beautiful! The cover, the contents, the illustrations! Everything!

I find the Little Lives to Great Lives series totally commendable for young reader and beginners. The information/ brief biographies in each of these books are quite comprehensive despite how short they are and how most of the pages are filled with illustrations.

I find this book totally fascinating, more so because it’s about Frida Kahlo’s biography. I find her story totally devastating and tragic. There is so much more information on the artist I wasn’t aware about before I picked up this book. So worth it.

This book is perfect for all kinds of readers regardless of age and gender. It is perfect for gifting as well!

I feel you will gain the most out of it by reading the book together with the young readers!

Beautiful book indeed!

So much better than the little people big dreams series. Absolutely great introduction to Frida Kahlos life. At least in this she doesn't look like raggedy Ann.

I have been really fascinated with Frida Kahlo lately, and I've been wanting to know more about her. This book is a really nice overview of her life. The drawings are cute and the book is just beautiful in itself. The only thing that would've made it better was if it was longer (YES, I know the series is called LITTLE guides, but still...!)

I just love Frida so much, I can’t help it. For a few months now I’ve felt the urge to reread her biography but instead I read this little illustrated version and it was great! I enjoyed the illustrations.

‘Frida Kahlo was a colourful Mexican artist who endured great pain and hardship but used her bright, vivid brushstrokes to express her emotions and reveal her true personality. She created over 50 self-portraits, and is considered to be one of the most influential and inspirational artists of the twentieth century.
This was a great little book.
This book is part of the Little Guides To Great Lives series. These are stand-alone books that introduce young readers to inspirational figures from history.
I will freely admit I had no idea who Frida Kahlo was before I picked this book up, but since I read this book I have started doing some more research into her and her wacky yet amazing story.
Frida Kahlo’s life is utterly fascinating. If I didn’t know better I would have assumed this book was a work of fiction; her life was that strange. Isabel Thomas captured the most important moments of Frida Kahlo’s life and career. The amount of information that Isabel Thomas included in this book makes for a great read and it made me want to learn more.
As I am not the target audience for this book I was surprised by how interesting and informative I found this book. It had the perfect amount of information to introduce young readers to Frida Kahlo and her amazing life and career.
Isabel Thomas wonderful writing and fantastic information were perfectly complimented by Marianna Madriz’s utterly mesmerizing illustrations. The way Marianna Madriz added an extra layer to the information being told as well as capturing Frida Kahlo’s amazing artwork was utterly astounding.
The combination of Isabel Thomas writing and Marianna Madriz’s illustrations made this book both educational and truly entertaining. I can easily see this book being devoured for both its writing and images by young readers and their families.
Frida Kahlo by Isabel Thomas is out now.
