There’s special forces and there’s Navy Seals and then there’s MOB VI.When it comes to talking about the most experienced, effective and deadly warriors in the world, there’s a special breed who are second to none. MOB VI is a volume unlike any seen before. This book is uncompromising, rare, violent and real. It’s the story of one of today’s most elite warriors- a patriot who fought for his country at the apex of war against an evil enemy and a vulnerable man of faith who continues to fight in a battle of spiritual warfare.
This book is very raw and up front. No beating around the bush when it comes to describing events which is really a good thing. This guys has done more, seen more, and has been involved in more missions than the majority. He gets real honest about what’s bullshit and what really should be happening. He gets real with himself in the end.
Being able to write a book and opening yourself up to public scrutiny leaves a person vulnerable. But, he went out and did it and expressed stories of his career and a major part of his life that many people can’t quite understand. So he paints the picture for you. If you don’t agree or don’t like it then just don’t read it. But all of this is real, in your face, truthful shit.
Faith was an important factor in the survival of Deal MOB SEA 6. To. Become aware of our Muslim enemies and their commitment to the Koran , read LIVING TO DIE by Carl Nurick... Amazon Kindle book.
Amazing war memoir of a Seal Team Six operator who mainly worked in Afghanistan. Seal Team Six, DEVGRU, etc. are one of the premier Special Mission Units of JSOC and were at the tip of the spear in the global war on terror. The author is strikingly Christian, as were many of his comrades, and uses that to put his actions and success in context. Very well written as well.
He also described his troubles with TBI (likely due to repeated concussions from explosions, vs purely psychological) and some of the innovative new treatments (magnetic brain stimulation combined with imaging) to address -- would have liked an expanded section on this.
This combat memoir is not tame. Written by a man from my hometown (I don't know him well but was friendly with his wife growing up), this all-opinions-out story is about his time training for and missions in Navy Seal Team Six. They are bloody, horrific, and so real. Not only were his actions so brave, but writing this book, in all it's raw truths, was very brave. I have so much respect for him, his men, and his family. I only wish I'd read this sooner. Caution that this is a violet book by a military hero. All my love and respect to the Sheffield's.
I read this book in preparation for an interview with the author on my podcast.
I could not put this book down. I read the entire book in just a few hours. It held my attention all the way through!
The real life stories (though names, etc. have been changed) will keep you intrigued as you are taken into the life of, not just a Navy SEAL, but SEAL TEAM SIX (or MOB VI, which is the official title & designation).
Compelling read, written with humor and intensity. It was hard to put down and a solemn reminder of the long enduring sacrifices our soldiers make both on and beyond battlefield. I remember.the hostage rescue well. It was cool reading an inside account.
Justin Sheffield was on a all time high Seal team six..... then it's over just like that..... how can you not be depressed? He lost his team members brothers who he would have died for. Also the physical injuries on his body. America is one lucky nation to have men like him serve.
If this is your thing, its a great read, very in your face, factual account of life in the top tier of the u.s military, until the end when it all catches up and breaks him and thousands like him down completely, the other side of heroism for lots of very brave people,he turned to god which is his choice,i hope he got well again........
I salute Justin for his brave service to this country and his battle against evil, both visible and invisible. I am not worthy to polish his dress shoes, I am amazed and humbled by what it takes to do what he and so many others have done in the name of Freedom. Thank You, Justin Sheffield.
Thank you Senior Chief for sharing your story. You are one of America's heroes. Welcome home dear brother! Praise be to God and His Son, Jesus, for bringing you home safe. Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
Not only did it have the war stories, but it also had another great story to go along with it. God and Jesus are the light! No matter what you deal with God will help you if you ask!!!!
Detailed stories that put you right in the fight. He didn't hold back on retelling the joy and adrenaline along with the pain and suffering that comes with being an Operator in the war on terrorism. One of the most realistic telling of action these man went thru. Their commitment to service and the pursuit of excellence is what is so compelling. Great book, short read.
i loved how it described the relationship between SEALs and trainees. i also felt so upset when you wrote about the deaths of your close friends, especially shane. it’s really shocking as to how the rest of the world is clueless towards the deaths of heroes.

Gripping first person account of actual missions and a down to earth personal struggle over time. The writing is bold and descriptive. Highly recommended!
How did I get pulled into this trash? I listened to radio review/interview and felt very good about this book. The fight between. Good and evil . God and the Devil. When I began reading, there was so much salty profanity and war, that I wondered if I may have pick up the wrong book. After finally finishing the chapter I had no choice but to close the book and leave it for someone else to "enjoy".
