He stole my heart out of revenge.

There was one thing I always thought was mine to give: my heart.

I never imagined a marauder would steal it out of vengeance—vengeance that had nothing to do with me. His greatest enemy happened to be the man in love with me, and somehow I became nothing but a pawn. I was no damsel in distress, though. More like an archer, ready to battle.

And my target? The marauder himself.

Cashel “Cash Kelly.

Kelly might have been as gorgeous as he was ruthless, but he had no idea what I’d do to steal it back. Or better yet, get even.

She was determined to keep what was mine.

They say hearts can’t be stolen unless they’re willing to be. Tell that to the man everyone on the streets called “the marauder.

Me.

Because by the time I was through, Keely Ryan’s heart would be mine. And my enemy’s? As good as broken. Trouble was, the archer was precise with her aim, and her arrow was pointed at my heart.

Marauder is the second of three books set in the savage world of the Gangsters of New York series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but they are all based in the same world.

Bella Di Corte’s writing is grand! Just fucking grand!!

This is the second time she managed to left me speechless with her words. They were not coerced nor conventional. They had a beautiful flow and wonderful connotations, still powerful and intense. Impeccable!

This story was about a marauder, Cash, and an archer, Keely.
A game of hearts.

«Cash “the marauder: a man who always took what he wanted, damn the consequences.»

«Keely Shea Ryan was a beautiful woman. Heavenly, in fact. But there was also no doubt that she had a tongue that was made in hell.»

The dynamic of Cash and Keely’s personalities was awe inspiring. A force to be reckoned with!
Main and secondary characters were very well placed and the plot was rich and intriguing.

Although there were chemistry and feelings, I was waiting for the emotional connection to explode but unfortunately I didn’t feel it until the reach to the ending.
Also, the names Keely and Kelly might have added a smart touch to the story, but there were moments that it was confusing and was disrupting my concentration.

I adored Mac, I loved Cash and I can’t wait for the third Gangster of New York!! 🤩

I loved Machiavellian so I was excited to read Cash and Keely’s story as they caught my attention in Machiavellian.
I really enjoyed it..I am surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the chemistry between Cash and Keely.
Keely Ryan aka Keely Kelly is my kind of girl. She is a strong, independent , loyal badass woman.

I knew it would take an amazingly unconventional guy to win over my girl Keely and Cash was it. He isn’t the hearts and flowers kind of guy but he sure can sweep you off your feet and make you blush along the way.
Cash is intense and I loved him ..with his flaws, his gruffness his ability to confuse me..Was he a villain or a hero? Whatever he is..a little of both perhaps. I really liked him a lot.

Marauder was another wonderful read. I can’t wait to read more of Bella Di Corte’s books.

2 disappointing stars.

Man, what happened!?! The first book was so good and one of my favorites of the year so far, and this one completely fell flat on its face. It was all over the place! It had its moments, and the romance was steamy but too much was bogging it down. Too much dialogue that didnt make sense, too many side characters that didnt help the story progress, too many monologues and back stories that acted as an information dump for a story that was becoming less and less interesting by the chapter.

I felt like the characters were speaking in code. Like a language I was only half understanding. The characters would repeat certain lines over and over again but it was never made clear what their intentions were when you got to their inner dialogue.

Another problem I faced was the timeline, because this book happens at the same time as the first one. I think, and I could be wrong, that the author wrote the first book without a real plan on how to work within the same timeline for the second book. Everything felt so rushed and crunched down.

One last thing: THE HERO DIDNT SAY "I LOVE YOU" TO THE HEROINE. What the fuck is that about? I noticed this is somethign that authors are doing lately. The hero wont say 'I love you' because hes so emotionally stunted? Is he so masculine that he cant express his feelings? Utter bullshit.

Safety: safe with exceptions
No cheating
OM drama- heroine is dating another man at the start of the book and the H sees them having sex in the window. OM causes some drama for the couple.
No OW drama
H not a manwhore, and was in prison for ten years previously. (I think?!?! It was barely touched on and never explained properly)
Some seperation. They 'break up' for a couple of months even though theyre married. Also super confused about this.

"Everyone sees what you appear to be...few really know what you are"!!

It an awesome read!
Keely was such a fierce, strong character!!! Cash was a fucking amazing character, an Alpha male, I loved him from the start of the book!! Marauder was a roller coaster journey.... It had suspense, vendettas, angst, emotion, BUT I missed the spirit that Mac's book had!! Surely it was by far better one!
Congrats to Bella Di Corte, her writing is exceptional!!!

description

- 3.5 stars -

If you have read the first book in the series Machiavelli, then you already met the main characters of this book. Keely is Mari's best friend and Cashel “Cash Kelly who just spend ten years in jail is ready to take his revenge on the people who wronged his family and community. Even though this book is part of a series it can perfectly be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed how strong of a woman Keely was. She stood up for herself and the people she loved. Cash wants to use her to hurt someone else, but Keely doesn't easily fall in line. I love these type of characters especially when they are up against a bit darker and broken (anti)heroes. She knew Cash is dangerous but she doesn't let that control her. I thought she was the perfect partner for Cash.

The reason I rated this book 3.5 stars because of a lack of communication which resulted in Keely giving Cash the cold shoulder. She believed and assumed something that was said by totally untrustworthy people, I would've expected her to ask for a clarification from Cash. Or that Cash confronted her about it and asked her what was wrong. The lack of communication in books is one of my pet peeves, so it kind of lessened my enjoyment of the story. I loved all the action and danger the characters had to deal with. Also there were a couple of twists added to the story which I enjoyed. Marauder had a very nice flow and was easy to read. And I really love this author's writing style. I have no idea who will be the main characters in the next book, but I look forward to reading it.

"I need you more than a heart needs blood. The only addiction to ever have power over me. The only soul to ever conquer my chaotic soul with complete peace."

Cashel / Cash "Marauder" Kelly. The famous thief seeks vengeance on his enemy, Scott Stone by stealing the woman he's in love with -- Keely Ryan. My eyes are set on these two since Machiavellian because of the strong connection they shared. I was curious and they dealt on their own issues.

The push and pull between them intensifies their romance. The mafia world here is great and complex . There's a lot conflict that adds the mystery and more revelations unfold. However, 30% of it unnecessarily dragged on. I am excited to continue the next one and I'm sure it's not the last book in this series.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I enjoyed the first book in the Gangs of New York series and although I had high expectations, but I didn’t expect that the author would step up her game in the second book. Wow! What a ride. Marauder delivered all I expected and more. I would recommend you read the series in order as the story because of the interconnection between the timeline and the characters. The timeline for this installment runs concurrently with that of Machiavellian, the first book in the series.

I first met the Keely and Cashel aka Cash in Machiavellian and from that moment I recognized the sizzling chemistry between them. They intrigued me and I could wait to know their story. They were like fire and ice, with Keely being the fire which would melt Cash’s icy heart. Known as the marauder, Cash sets out to destroy his enemy, but to do so he would need to steal Keely’s heart, making her the pawn in his game of revenge. The marauder, however, underestimated the power of the archer, the only woman who had the skill to shoot the arrow of love straight through his heart.

I enjoyed getting to know principal characters. Their likes, dislikes, and what drove them. Kelly found herself in a world she wouldn’t have voluntarily entered, but to keep those she loved safe, she accepted her fate. However, she was not one to do so without a fight. I loved her fiery attitude, her independent spirit, and the way she cared about her friends and family. Not to mention she was a total badass with a bow and arrow and the perfect match for Cash.

Cash lived up to his reputation and name. A man on a mission determined to preserve his father’s legacy and avenge his death. He feared no one except Keely of course and took no prisoners.

The story made me laughed, sighed and swooned. It delivered a mixture of suspense, action and drama. It had several twists, but the biggest one of all left me in a daze. I loved that it wasn't too dark and I enjoyed the ending. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Conclusion/Recommendation
If you love mafia romance, mixed with suspense, drama and action, then The Marauder would be a great addition to your library.

Sexy, Irish mobster

Strong, sassy heroine

Mafia drama, suspense and plot twists

Amazing chemistry with foreplay banter and fantastic steam

This is book 2 in the Gangsters of New York series. The author says these can be read as standalones but I disagree. There are so many references to book 1 (Machiavellian) which runs in the same timeline. There are also lots of spoilers for book 1 so definitely read them in order.

I'm absolutely in love with this whole world and I kind of got hooked on this author's writing. It's very unique and the dialogue almost reads poetic.

My only critique is that there are a few parts of the story that didn't seem to flow well. I had to re-read them a few times to understand what happened. Probably because there are so many characters it got a bit confusing. Only 1 star off though because it didn't take away from the great vibe of the book.

4.5 Marauding stars!!!!!

I can honestly say Bella Di Corte has become one of my top favorite authors!! Machiavellian was the first book I read from her and it was like I was living in the shadows of all the crap mafia books that have been coming out lately and then suddenly a light was shining on me lol I absolutely love Machiavellian..such a breath of fresh air without all the OTT nonsense authors have been writing. Cash Kelly was introduced briefly but he made enough of an impact that had me salivating for his story.

What can I say about Marauder...I can say that I fkn loved this book!! Cash Kelly more than lived up to the hype. He was a man on a mission to right all the wrongs and keep his father’s legacy alive and in that process he had to destroy the one man...Scott Stone... he felt was the reason for his fathers death. In comes Keely Ryan...fiery red head that will shoot you in the heart with her arrow...literally. She was Scott’s girlfriend and Cash figured if you steal what a man loves the most you will destroy him forever and in this case it was Keely.

I will say it again and again..I loved this book!! Cash Kelly was the perfect Irish gangster and Keely Ryan was the heroine that all writers should strive to write about.

The only reason why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars was because the whole Scott Stone situation wasn’t fleshed out enough in my opinion. Essentially the girl he loved was taken away by the one man that represented everything Scott hated and he just was like fuck it..I’m disgusted go be with him. I wanted to see what losing Keely did to him emotionally...wasn’t that the point of the story to begin with?? But with that being said the rest of the book was more than good enough to overlook it because Scott’s character was dull and boring lol!!

Marauder can be read as a stand alone but I think to get the full affect of this world Bella has created I would suggest reading Machiavellian first.

First things first, this book is not a standalone. The characters and the timeline are interconnected to each other in this world that Bella has created so it is my opinion that if you want the best reading experience, you start with Machiavellian (book 1) and move forward from there. If you note the release dates for the three books thus far you will see how they’re not that far apart from each other and should give you yet another reason to read them in order.

I was blown away when I read Machiavellian and the author continued upping her game with Marauder. I mean the world she created was already suspenseful and dark and ridiculously alluring and yet she managed to make it even more. Honestly, it’s a bit shellshocking LOL There is never a moment of peace, if you will. The story just goes, goes, goes! It’s fantastic because not only is it written well, but you believe what is happening. I am seriously impressed with this author and this world and I am super stoked to see how she keeps upping her game in the future!

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK MARAUDER BY BELLA DI CORTE

*ARC PROVIDED IN EXCHANGE FOR HONEST OPINION*

GENRE:CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE.
AUTHOR:BELLA DI CORTE.
TYPE:BOOK #2 IN THE SERIES GANSTERS OF NEW YORK..CAN BE READ AS
STANDALONE.
POV: FIRST PERSON...DUAL POV.
MY RATING: 5 STARS...

This book is the second installment in the Gangster of New york series but can be read as a standalone...I would recommend you to read book#1 first as you get the introduction of our main love interest in there...

CASHEL KELLY has spent ten years in jail and is ready to take his vengeance from the people who have wrong him by any means...Lines are crossed...Rules are broken...His belief that killing someone is easy but hurting their soul will live an everlasting wound lead him to steal the heart of a woman who has the ability to bring THE MARAUDER to his knees.

KEELY RYAN is a struggling actress who is engaged to the man of law, has no intention of doing anything with Cash...But circumstances lead to their marriage...Will the Marauder be successful in his quest of stealing her heart?? or will this time, he will be left robbed of his heart??

"A woman's heart was designed with thievery in mind-it was designed so that it couldn't be tampered with. Not even by the best marauder around. You turn the stolen key or pick the lock, and it might b your heart she claims."

This type of book is just so hard to find.. and when you do find it you embrace it, savor the words and the witty banter between the characters.
I love that Keely was not a pushover when life strikes ... she strikes back harder... born in a house with four brothers she is not the soft girly type..she is sassy , strong-willed, stubborn warrior woman...yes she knows Archery!!!
Their relationship was a battle of will from the very start and I was so fun to watch them fall in love....But there are always obstacles in the path of love...
The book has so many mysteries...so much was happening in the background and it was so nice to see Mac and Mari again...

Bella di Corte has successfully managed to bring us a mafia romance with all the gritty bitty emotions we need...The ending of the book....You will never be able to expect the twist at the end...

Lastly, I just want to say that if you have an interest in mafia romance and then this book is a must for that Genre...Try this book..you won't regret the decision...

Her arrow coming straight for my heart would be the last thing I saw before Hell came to collect me.

What an amazing read!! I love Bella and her writing. I am just going to say in my humble opinion that to get the whole story from the very start you should read The Beautiful Years series also. There are so many characters in that series and some pop up in The Gangsters of New York series. That is just me. I want to know everything and what happens next.

It is important to know that Marauder runs in the same time frame as Machiavellian. I would strongly suggest you read Machiavellian before you read Marauder.

We get to see some of Cash and Keely in Machiavellian, but there is a deeper story hiding in Machiavellian than we know when we read it. Marauder is so powerful. The little glimpses we got of the two of them were nothing compared to what happens in Marauder.

Keely reminds me of a strong Irish/Scottish warrior woman. It is Cashel's job to break down those walls to get to her heart. After all the Marauder stole it.

Cashel is a villain/hero? It is hard to really put him in one category, but so fun to try and figure it out.

I am going to stop here. What I will tell you is this book is very well written and you will be on the edge of your seat in some scenes, swooning in others, and in tears in some others. There truly is not a dull moment in this book.

Marauder is a second installment of Gangster of New York series by Bella Di Corte and technically can be read as a stand-alone but I strongly recommend picking Machiavellian(first installment) first and continue with Marauder. We had glimpses of this upcoming, unusual couple in Machiavellian and to be honest as soon as Kee and Cash were introduced I was immediately hooked and intrigued by their chemistry!
Their relationship was a battle of wills right from the start, I do love my female characters to be fierce and strong, Kee proved to be all of these things and even more. Her relationship with Cash was a complete madness in a good way, you have no idea how I enjoyed this couple, their fights, their special moments, their chemistry. Cash was a perfect combination of good and bad, evil and kindness, I fell in love with him momentarily and never looked back;))) To be honest, their love story reminded me of a cat on a hot tin roof;))) Who’s gonna win a cat or a hot roof?) Bella Di Corte once again created such a perfect background and atmosphere for this book. The writing style was flawless, beautiful and unique, Bella somehow manages to pick all the right words to break and put our hearts together once again.

Marauder is not your typical mafia romance book, it’s unusual and fresh, antagonistic and passionate. My love for Bella’s books is endless and I cannot recommend her enough.

•This series gets better and better!

My jaw just drop from reading the last part of this book. This author just shooketh my world!

Anyways, on to my review: I didn't expect to fall in love with all of the characters in this series (and even from the Faustis and I haven't even read them yet!). Reading them and seeing how the plot finally piece itself together one by one makes my head spin and my jaw drop and for me to actually internally scream because this author blew my mind from every page turn!

It's official now. She's on my radar and one of my faves now (I hardly make faves!).

I also love how when I'm reading her book, there's something I can take away and digest. She offered a lot of life lessons for me to think about. She wrote this series, these characters with hearts in them. She just didn't write for you to be excited or thrilled - she wrote the words for you to feel. And I love that. Very much so.

Read this book. This series. Why? Because it is grand. Just grand. 😏😉

This was book 2 in the "Gangsters of New York" series. This was a good read we first met Keely Ryan in book 1 she is Mari's best friend. Cashel “Cash Kelly after getting out of prison he is out for revenge of those who put him away with the death of his father and the abandonment of his twin brother. Each brother is on a different path Cash is determined to regain his father’s territory. Keely who was also a twin who died she feels that she lost apart of herself. Keely is a struggling actress she is also sexy and string willed. This was a good read I liked both of these characters. Both of them have a hard time trusting not only people but their own hearts. There was a lot going on in this book. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Another good one!! 4.5

This is a story about a gangster who steals a woman or does she steal his heart? Irish gangsters in NY. Yum! This story was hot! Guns a blazing! Marauder kidnaps his woman for revenge from his rival. She is a spitfire! Redhead and all! She is one tough woman only girl raised with many brothers. Archery is her niche. These two fall so in love they nearly die for each other. Old family secrets are discovered. Wonderful storyline with a dark twist toward the ending. Family found and saved.

I'm AMAZED...again. I can't believe how beautifully this woman writes. The story line, the way she describes the characters, the dialogue between them and the words, OMG the words...I'm in love!!!!
At this moment I don't know who I love most, Mac or Cash. Bella di Corte creates such complex male characters, so brilliant and so different of what we are all used to in mafia romance stories in general.
You never know what happens next, you can't guess where the story goes and every time you're amazed.
Cash Kelly is a marauder, but you have to read story to find out if he's the villain or the hero. Keely Ryan is an archer woman who's aiming on a heart. Their story is a battle of wills, it's about finding peace in the midst of a storm and above all it's about how love feels. As I said about Machiavellian that it's one of the most beautiful love stories, so it's Marauder because that's what Bella di Corte does, she paints love stories with her words.
I don't wanna tell what happens in this story, this is too beautiful to be revealed before anyone starts reading it.
This is a standalone, but please read Machiavellian first. You'll fell in love with these stories just like I did.

 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐃𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞

I can’t tell you how addicted I am to the Gangsters of New York series. Mafia Romances have always been one of my absolute favourite tropes, and this series embodies everything a good mafia romance is. Each book containing an alpha asshole of epic proportions and a female feisty enough to go head to head with them.

Cash Kelly was a downright 𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚞𝚛𝚎 to read about. His ruthlessness, strength and animalistic tendencies drove me insane. And watching Kelly match him and complement him in every way was magical. Keely was just as ruthless, cunning and lethal with a bow and arrow. Gave me major Brave vibes. And while the beginning of their relationship wasn’t normal, it was just as explosive as they were in the end.

I can’t wait for the next book! November seems so far away!
