Jade has increasingly little to say about herself as time goes on, other than the fact she is an author, but she’s plenty happy with this. Living in imaginary realities and having a legitimate excuse for it is really all she’s ever wanted.
Jade is as dirty as you’d expect from her novels, and talking smut makes her smile.
She lives in the Herefordshire countryside with a couple of hounds and a guy who’s able to cope with her inherent weirdness.
She has a red living room, decorated with far more zebra print than most people could bear, and fights a constant battle with her addiction to Coca-Cola.

5 Petal Falling Stars

Just from the blurb alone, I instinctively knew this would be a profound experience. If you have experienced personal loss of a loved one, you may need to brace yourself for all the feels. Hello Stranger was a tough one for me, because I've walked this path two too many times...

Their connection was instant from the first glance of her on the train. A freckled stranger, jittery and clutching a much-loved paperback. It would take fate for her to misplace something dear for them to meet.

"Her smile was brighter than the morning sun and mine was concrete. Cold. Steadfast in its grounding.

Yet, that contrast worked.

It was inexplicable just how her buzz of life gelled with the overall flatness of death in my world, but it did."

Dr Logan Hall is a palliative care doctor. Stoic and serious, he is the metaphorical rock for patients on their final journey. Unfortunately, his mother is in her final stages of illness. And no matter how prepared you think you are, you're never truly ready to say goodbye.

"Now it was my turn to be the strength at her side in body if not in spirit. Nothing in this world would ever weaken my mother’s spirit."

Before Logan can let go, his mother's bucket list must be completed - cue the tears. One that includes 'Get a daughter-in-law'. Now where he's convinced this won't happen, destiny has other plans. Because meeting Chloe Sutton will be life altering.

See, sometimes at your lowest you get gifted with a lifeline. Meeting a stranger on a train commute through the simple pleasure of books is only the very beginning. The universe has decided that isn’t enough. As a trainee nurse, Chloe soon finds herself a part of Dr Logan’s team. Her honest goodness and zest for life will shed the greatest light and reprieve on his grief.

Knowing that this is the only way to gain his affections, Chloe garners all her courage and puts a move on Logan. And boy does her actions pay off. Because behind the impenetrable facade is a hot blooded man with a slow and steady manner that brings her the ultimate bliss and happiness.

"He kissed me back.

His chest was as solid as I remembered, his arms just as welcoming and calm.

Until that calm turned to fire, and fire turned to want, and want turned to need.

I needed him."

What can I say, I loved this book from the very first page. This story was filled with so much emotion, I couldn't contain myself. I swooned, I smiled, and I cried. As a Jade West fan from day dot, she should be proud at penning my fave book of hers to date. Love, loved. ♥️

Book: Hello Stranger

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Warning: You will need tissues. Your eyes will be a mess. You will have a lump the size of an elephant in your throat. You won't escape without bawling. And you WILL carry this amazing tale close to your heart.

Every moment truly is magical, just so long as your eyes aren’t blind to the wonders."

Oh God. Where do I even start? I'm currently staring at the screen trying to figure out what to write about this incredible book. 'Hello Stranger' by Jade West was simply heart-wrenching. No other words for it. I did not expect this from Jade West. I've known her to write dirty, erotic, suspenseful romance but this tale, this heart-wrenching, beautiful tale was on a whole other level. I loved every excruciating second, every excruciating moment of this journey. Very rarely does a book affect me so tremendously. I can count on my fingers the number of book which have made me cry ugly tears. I was bawling my eyes out but trying to keep quiet cause I didn't want my mum to find me like that. Because she just wouldn't understand why I was crying over a damn book.

All hellos ultimately have their goodbyes. And all goodbyes hurt so much harder if the love they are founded on is so damn strong. Still, all hellos with people you love are worth it. They are all worth their weight in gold.

CHLOE SUTTON:
From the very beginning, I found myself falling in love with Chloe. I fell in love with her books. I fell in love with her nervous jitters. I loved how she wanted to help others during their worst times. How she always radiated light even in the face of adversity. How she viewed the world through eyes full of hope. Her never-ending compassion and selflessness. Her tenderness for all her patients. I fell in love with her kindness, the pure goodness of her heart, her smile and her positivity. I loved her compulsion to read and just keep reading. How she wasn't able to put a book down. I loved her thoughtfulness even at such a young age. That's how, I fell in love with Chloe Sutton.

I could have stayed alongside her for a lifetime, but lifetimes are fleeting things.

JACKIE HALL:
Since the first time I met her, I found myself falling in love with Jackie Hall. I fell in love with her strength and her wisdom. I fell in love with her will to live and be free. I fell in love with her sparkling eyes and her everlasting smile. Her never-ending love for her child. How she remained strong and full of life even till the end. I fell in love with her cursing and her bucket list. Her desire to dip her toes in the ocean and climb a mountain. Her acceptance and words of wisdom for Chloe. That's how, I fell in love with Jackie Hall.

LOGAN HALL:
And Logan. Logan broke my heart. He broke my heart with his love for classics. How he cared for each and every one of his patients. His calmness while facing death and suffering on a daily basis. His all-powerful love of his mother. His extreme tenderness and care for her. How he fell in love with a jittering rabbit. Even his pessimism and fatalist views. My heart hurt for what he went through at such a young age. All the things he kept locked up inside. How he isolated himself from every one in his life. Logan broke my heart and it's still broken after reading that epilogue.

We loved each other. Call it fate or destiny or coincidence, or two people having more in common than they could ever know possible, mixed with things on total opposite sides of the scales, like weird magnets that couldn’t stay apart it didn’t make any difference whatsoever. We loved each other. And that wasn’t going anywhere. Ever.

THE EPILOGUE:
That epilogue completely destroyed me. But even though it ended sadly, it was the perfect ending to what was one of the most selfless tales of love I've ever read. The story is so raw and real. It's about real life and how there aren't always happily ever after's. I know life isn't always wine & roses, but still, the reality of this story broke my heart. It's utterly unforgettable. I wish I could give this book all the stars in the world. But it still wouldn't be enough.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR THOSE BRAVE SOULS WHO WISH TO TEAR THEIR HEARTS OUT OF THEIR CHESTS.

This is a beautiful poignant tale which will stay with me for a long time. Maybe when I see the book coming up on my feed I will feel for the characters doubly. The motives of this story can be related to fate which challenges few of the victims of sickness and takes them away. A passionate story of two strangers takes us on an emotional ride that makes us experience how time with our loved ones shouldn't be taken as granted.

"My dreams were about death and having no power over it. They were about spending most of my waking life trying to fend it off for people and watching my closest person alive decay in front of me, one tiny little piece at a time."

Both Logan and Cloe have an affinity to reading books. Meeting on their daily train ride to their jobs, Logan returns Cloe her bookmark which she drops on a rush to be on time for her new job. Their passion for reading brings this two strangers close.
Logan is older, successful in career and carries a burden of fate on his shoulders. Cloe is a young nurse, bubbly and full of life. Despite their differences both balances each other. The intensity of their attraction is unexplainable. Logan is the strength to his patients but who will take care of the little boy inside him when he is about to experience a personal loss himself. Chloe is a goodness of life, she gathers courage and pours it into Logan with full of her optimism. When it was time for her loss I couldn't stop shedding tears.

This is a blindly rated 5-stars for managing to include the snippets of reality and for captivating a readers heart.

This book was so underwhelming. I was definitely character driven and I just couldn't find myself really caring about any of the characters. Chloe and Logan meet on the train and immediately have a connection. Logan is a very stoic character, but he finds himself pulled towards the woman on the train who always has a book with her. The two decide to sit by each other every morning and share what book they've brought for the commute that day. Once they arrive at their stop, they get off the train and go about their day. And repeat.

I got that Chloe and Logan felt a pull to one another, but to me it quickly turned into insta-love and I just didn't get why they were so head over heels for each other. Then, we have them interacting with Logan's mom and it was so obvious where the plot was going with that, so we were just supposed to sit and watch it play out. The emotional pull felt too forced and I just didn't buy it. When I know something sad is the end goal of a plot, it's really hard for me to feel sad because I'm just waiting and waiting for that to happen. And it's really just about the characters. There isn't really any other plot to this book other than Logan dealing with his mom's situation and not wanting to fall for Chloe. That was really it. I know people really love this book, but I was more bored than anything and just didn't care about what the characters were going through.

**Mind you this review might contain mild spoilers** (but I guess you must know the most important one)

🔶 I will divide this review into two parts:
a) What I would have felt about this book had I not known the ending
b) How I feel about this book (when I knew the ending)

First I would like to write that I like Jade West's books. Her books are the perfect combination of smut and a good story. When I read my first book of Jade West, I was looking just for smut but I was also impressed by the fact that there was a story, a PLOT & I can say the same was with this book a perfect combination of a good story and smut.

How I would have felt about this book had I not known the ending:

The starting of the book was really good, I liked it a lot, especially the whole Hello, Stranger thing. I liked the hobbies they had and shared. I liked Chloe(heroine) a lot too. It was just perfect. Though, after a while when the main characters got together I would have most probably DNFed this book, not because something was wrong with the book but because of lack of plot or should I say which direction was the story heading to was unknown which would have caused a loss in interest. If I would have not known to end and would have not DNFed it maybe I would have felt bad and even cried.

How I feel about this book (after knowing the ending:

I feel the same as above except for the 'DNF' & 'no plot' thing, I continued reading. I will write down why I reduced the number of stars from five instead of why I gave it 3.75 stars. The first reason is that I feel Logan's(hero) character development is pretty slow, it happened right at the end. He was still 'closed off', still kept secrets, and was still pushing Chloe away. . The main reason I didn't like this book was because I didn't feel 'the pain', 'the angst' in the ending, I felt it more in starting. Maybe it was because I already knew the ending and was ready for it? Or because of how positively it was handled (which is good). It was handled positively by the main characters. If the main characters weren't sad, then how would I be sad? (I hope you understand what I mean) But going into the book I was expecting 'sadness' in the ending which I didn't get or maybe I am just an insensitive b*tch hence reduction in several stars.

Do I recommend this book?
Yes! Because I feel this book has some really good parts and many readers will like it.

Chloe Sutton was an eternal optimist, bursting with energy and life. On the first day of her job, a chance meeting with a stranger on a train Logan Hall led her to a path neither of them expected.

I’ve read a lot of Jade West’s books and loved many of them. But I could never pick a favorite until now. This book easily earned its spot as my favorite by the author.

This was a crush. A stupid crush. It couldn’t be more than that. So why did it feel like it meant so much?

Logan and Chloe were two complete opposites. Naturally, I connected with Logan’s stoic nature and I understood his approach in life. Chloe provided a good balance of sunshine to his darkness without being pushy and overwhelming. Jackie was also a standout as a supporting character.

The story was raw and poignant. And I’m glad the author didn’t gloss over the situations, making it more relatable and realistic. Even though it was more emotional than erotic, there was still the signature Jade West hotness to keep her fans happy.

Hello Strangers is a story of breaking down walls and savoring life. It would appeal to fans of sexy emotional Romance.

Hello Stranger was a heartwarming story of deep love between two unlikely people. It stirred high and low emotions. Logan and Chloe's story will captivate and hold your interest right from the beginning as it pulls you further into the novel. I could hardly put the book down until I finished it. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and absolutely recommend reading this book!

Strangers on a train

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😠😚😁
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Logan - he is a surgeon and takes the train to work every day and has been traveling that way for nine years straight. He never said a word to any of the other passengers, thought one day he finds himself interested in one of the other passengers he sees every day. He can’t seem to look away from the young woman. When she leaves her battered bookmark behind, he grabs it and finds out her name is Chloe.

The heroine: Chloe - she was on her way to work for her first day of work at Harrow District Hospital in the Kingsley ward. She took the first train to work that got her there without too many stops. She is a trainee nurse in patient rehabilitation. She wanted to help people who really need it and has wanted to be a nurse since she was a child.

The story: On the return trip home, Chloe notices her precious leather bookmark is missing, she got it from her grannie and treasured it. She gets home to her boyfriend Liam who is laying on the couch gaming and has no interest in what went on during her first day of work. When she tells him anyway, he is more annoyed that she interrupted his game.

The next day Chloe gets on the same train as the previous morning. The handsome man who sits next to her gives her the bookmark that she was missing. They talk about books and both of them want to know more about each other but don’t ask. They see each other every morning on the train and each yearns to know more. Then at work, Chloe is put on a new assignment in palliative care and meets the doctor in charge, Dr. Hall (Logan).

Chloe is a breathe of fresh air with a sunny disposition and has always wanted to work in palliative care since her uncle died and the doctors and nurses who treated him at the end of his life were so nice. Not everyone can work in that area since it is so hard to be around terminal patients all the time. But Chloe is perfect for the job and Logan is impressed with her immediately.

This story is very different than any I have read before from Jade West. Logan is broody and quiet, but is a very good man who is also dealing with a dying mother at home as well as treating terminal patients on a daily basis. Chloe is a strong character and leaves her boyfriend when it becomes obvious he will never change and be the man she hoped he would one day become.

This story was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Dan Calley and Ashford MacNab. Both of these narrators were new to me. Dan Calley was ok, he has a decent voice with an English accent though he talked a bit too fast for my liking. Ashford MacNab has a clear feminine voice with an English accent, which wasn’t my favorite but wasn’t annoying either.

Okay. First of all I must say, it's not you it's me... A lot of my friends loved this book and I loved almost 60% of the book too but after that I didn't like the hero very much... I even didn't cry in the end which is weird for me because I always cry in this kind of books... Plus I'm pregnant right now. So I must be in the hormonal crisis right now but nope, I didn't shed a single tear... Sorry! :-/

Anyway these are my thoughts... And still I highly recommend this book to you because who knows maybe you'll love it more than me! So good luck! ;)

Chloe Sutton is an optimistic bookworm ready to embark on her new career as nurse. During her daily train commute, and in her haste to dash off at her stop, Chloe drops her bookmark. Luckily for her, the distinguished gentleman passenger, Logan Hall who also has an affinity for reading paperbacks, returns her treasured possession. Their passion for reading begins their dialogue but the story that ensues is one that is meant to be lived to the fullest.

“I’d never belonged anywhere like I belonged in his arms, and I knew it. I felt it with every single scrap of my soul.

Told in dual POV, Chloe and Logan couldn’t be more opposites. He is older and keep his emotions contained, while she is bubbly and in her early twenties. Their attraction is unspoken but the inexplainable intensity is felt. Though Logan has his reason for keeping Chloe at a distance, she slowly unpeels his layers of complexities.

“I was happy and sad in tandem. Two people both in tandem. I was still that scared little boy, caged deep inside the man.

There are many aspects of this story that share a romantic notion of fate and looking at the glass half full. But it is much more with a heavy dose of reality. With a deeply emotional journey, I truly empathized with Logan and admired his plight. The connection he shared with is spitfire mother was heartwarming and finding a similar spark in Chloe only served to further challenge Logan’s walls of defense. This story definitely hits hard with loss but also shows how to make the most of precious time.

“That’s the curse of the most powerful stories, isn’t it? he asked. “They never let you go.

Hello Stranger is poignant romance about not taking any moment for granted. This book would appeal to those who want to experience heartfelt sentiments.

“The joy in the moment, sweetheart, the joy of you being you for who you are, embracing love and friendship. It’s magic. It’s always magic. Don’t stress, just be you for who you are. That’s the greatest magic of all.

I am speechless, floored, heartbroken, amazed at this beautiful story. I don't know that I can make it justice with my words. The angst, emotion and beautiful hope that this story conveys overwheled me.

There are 3 main characters, beautiful to a fault:
- Logan (41), palliative care doctor, cancer survivor, amazing doctor and son, fatalist
- Chloe (22), nurse in training, optimist to a fault, the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland
- Jackie, Logan's mum, a gem of wisdom and optimist even in the face of death

Chloe and Logan have an instant connection on a train one morning when she is about to start a new job. From my previous reviews you would know I don't like the insta-love/soulmates trope but I didn't even care here. Logan, a guy with a hard life, is attracted to Chloe' light.
If anyone had a soul, it was Chloe Sutton. I could feel it in every single one of her breaths.

They share a mutual love of reading classics. For the longest time the only thing they share are hellos and good-byes.
Then she is transferred into the ward that Logan runs at the hospital they both work in.

Logan can't stay away from Chloe. He even introduces her to his dying mom. And Jackie is such a fantastic character. She moved me with her words deep in my soul.
“People resign themselves to be a product of what has happened to them without realising that they have a choice of who to be in any given moment. Change takes an instant. Another pause as she rasped in her breaths. “My journey has taught me to use my energy in a positive way. Don’t angst, don’t stress and don’t worry. The shit that’s going to happen is going to happen anyway.

This book is an amazing life lesson on how to be positive, enjoy every moment of your life, find the good even in the hard times, live to the fullest and without regret.

There are so many powerful quotes in this book, so much pain and grief but also love of life in between these pages.

This is a must read but thread carefully if you are trigerred by the love of a loved one.
A definite 2021 favorite for me!

Every moment truly is magic, just as long a your eyes aren’t blind to the wonders.
Holy hell this is a tough book to review.

This novel has been sitting on my kindle for a long time. I’ve been itching for something different than the usual, and this story came to mind. West's writing always surprises me so I knew I would find something here I liked.
"My journey has taught me to use my energy in a positive way. Don’t angst, don’t stress and don’t worry. The shit that’s going to happen is going to happen anyway.
This is a beautiful, slightly angsty story about two complete opposites. These two people are brought together by fate? They share a wonderful love of old books and I found myself searching up those titles after each one was discussed.

I don’t know if there is ever an easy time to read a book about, palliative care, cancer and saying goodbye to loved ones. Despite the heavy subjects, this book was incredibly beautiful and touching.
Grief destroys people. Always has, always will. You can think you’ve prepared for a whole fucking decade, but losing someone you love is always going to put you on your knees.
It does have a hea, just not quite the usual.

There is a beautiful afterward by the author that explains the bucket list in the story is her friend Jackie’s actual bucket list. I sobbed at bit at this point, I’ve lost so many friends and family to cancer. It hurts on a level that is hard to describe. This book was a reminder that our time here is fleeting, and to enjoy those moments of simple joy.

"Fuck you, universe. Fuck you."

It's my own damn fault.

I asked for this...yes I know...I say I love emotional reads and in a week I will love this book. I will love it with my whole heart.

But right now, I am thinking about my dad. I lost him six years ago and I think about him all the time. But this book made me relive the weeks and days leading up to him fading away.

"Grief destroys people. Always has, always will. You can think you've prepared for a whole fucking decade, but losing someone you love is always going to put you on your knees."

Loss.

But the message was screaming clear. Live.

"Believe me, sweetheart, what's important is the simple shit. Being around people, sharing, talking, eating. Simple pleasures that most people don't even take notice of. Their heads are always stuck on what's ahead of them and not on what's there, right here, right now. And that's sad, because your time is every second, and once it's gone, it's gone forever."

And that's how Chloe lives. She always had, mostly, but the moment she meets her stranger on the train, with their books, and their looks, and their quick hellos...she lives. With and for Logan.

It takes Logan much longer to heed the words of his mother and of Chloe. He is losing himself to the hand he's been dealt. His family, his mother, himself but he has this light. Chloe. His little white rabbit that may just be able to give him "everything." His mom may get her wish.

"You were the one who brought me to life when I was all but gone already."

This book is really about living. Living despite, maybe because of, with, all the shit that is thrown your way. It is hard to explain the goodness of the message delivered through a world of hurt and heartache. But I guess that's the point. It isn't going to be easy. There is going to be sadness and pain and death but if you live every day then you can celebrate the life instead of wallowing in the hard parts.

"All hellos ultimately have their goodbyes. And all goodbyes hurt so much harder if the love they are found on is so damn strong. Still, all hellos with people you love are worth it. They are all worth their weight in gold."

It will hurt. You will cry. It might break you for a time. But you should read this. In a while, I'll be glad I did. Promise.

🌶️🌶️🌶

The first book of Jade’s I’d ever read was Bait but the first book I ever started was this. Then I got nosy and I found out some stuff that made me avoid it like the plague.

In the years since I first started it and stopped I’ve experienced some big losses in the form of my mom and my eldest brother who was also my best friend. It’s made me experience grief and sad emotions in a completely different way. So now I need books that will give me cathartic release.

And that’s how we came back around, full circle. I knew this was gonna hurt but the road was paved with so much love that it became easier to bare. Don’t get me wrong, it still fucking sucked but I’d do it all again.

The story begins on a train when two strangers begin a bond over books. And I agree with Chloe wholeheartedly, everything happens for a reason and it all led to them finding the most glorious love within each other.

And not just love between a couple but the love of friends and family. The relationship they both have with Logan’s mother is breathtaking. It’s the kind of relationship you dream of with instant connection and fun filling even the most mundane activities.

I don’t know the author’s life story but based on her social media I have to assume this story is very close to her heart and you can tell. This is a book written with her blood and tears and it’s stunning as it is heartbreaking.

Thank you for this story.

I love Jade West’s writing. Hello Stranger is an absolutely beautiful book. I could tell I was taken on a personal journey. Hello stranger is not like Jade West's other books, but you will be far from disappointed. Make sure to have tissues ready. On the blurb, there is a warning about palliative Care. If you have ever experienced this, this book may not be for you, or this book can help you heal. I had to be in the right headspace to read this book. This may be one of my only triggers. So glad, I pushed through. It helped me.

We are taken on an emotional journey between Chole and Dr. Hall. Two strangers meet on a train with instant chemistry. Both are surrounded by death on a daily bases and different views on the aftermath. If you can take away a few things from his book is one. There love for each other. Two. You learn to live life to the fullest each day.you will laugh and cry. I loved Logan and chole. The sex scenes were just a bonus.

Aw, man. This book made me bawl my eyes out. There were so many things I loved about this book and there are so many things I want to say... but I don't think I can fully put into words just how beautiful and emotional this book was. It definitely made me appreciate life just a little bit more. I truly think this is a book you just have to experience for yourself. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just have to tell you:

Read it. And prepare a box of tissues.

Ah the Diabolic writing of an English rose named Jade West!!
This is the book I'd recommend a Jade newbie to start with, it showcases her powerhouse of talent in storytelling, plotting, character sketches and heart-ruining angst.
It makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you ask the reason why!!
“Life’s fragility makes all love fragile.
“Love leads to loss. Loss leads to pain. Therefore, all love ends in pain.

description

Exploring fragile lives and equally fragile strands of love, jade plays on your sentiments like a practiced drummer, the pounding of the heart will remain a constant throughout.
She's notorious for pushing sexual boundaries of the readers, introducing new kinks and fetish plays with every book, all the while the punch to the heart comes straight out of the left and steals your breath away.
“That’s the curse of the most powerful stories, isn’t it?,
They never let you go.

Her stories hold a powerful grasp on your brain, demanding your attention. They have lots and lots of feels, it's not a wham-bam-thank you ma'am sexathon she fills her pages with, the acts of intimacy MEAN something to the characters, help in progression of the story and sentiment development.
This story is close to Jade's heart and her beloved Tim's friend, Janice is placed as a predominant character in the book. She's the voice of reason and wisdom, bridging the gaps in Logan & Chloe's dilemmas.

description

The book starts with a perchance meeting between two fellow commuters, holding books and that becomes a thread to start a conversation on the morning train from Eddington to Harrow. But both are too nervous to say anything beyond Hello, stranger which becomes the much craved highlight of their day.
"both of us so caught up in this fatal craving that we were fireworks, soaring up to explode, set to fall down in tatters and ashes in the aftermath. Because that’s what this was. Fatal. Tatters and ashes waiting to fall after an explosion that lit up the sky."

description

The sex was trademark Jade, thrusting hard and exploring places.
Jade's soulful narration brings extra dose of sensitivity in the story. Even in the hot panting sexy times or girls sharing giggling times, I knew the ominous fate was standing in the shadows, ready to douse their happiness with cold water.
But I did not see that coming!!!!
I gasped and held my breath, my heart expanded and threatened to explode with the secret that unravels. My heart went into denial mode, refusing to believe what I was reading.
It's heartbreaking!
It's pure anguish!
It's utterly unfair!

description

Ahh, the sweet torture of the words were grating my heart to shreds, the continuous tears didn't do a thing to lessen the pain
I thought was her best book to date, but this one goes steps further right to the top of the mountain for me.
The Story is lighter than feathers and heavier than stone and I GUARANTEE it, you will NOT be able to forget this book.....EVER!!.
My bucket list has one item only
Meet Jade West....hope that box gets ticked soon
6 stars for Jitterbug Jitters

WoW - This book left me speechless, it is a very powerful, emotional raw read.

Fate - Two strangers on a train, take you on their incredible journey, Logan & Chole's story is not an easy read but amongst all the soul destroying moments are the parts that make life worth living and along with Jackie, Logan's mother they make each moment count.

No spoilers from me so a short review -
Highly recommended read, this story is one of those rare gems that will stay with you for life. fantastic writing skills Jade West, proof that you can adapt your skills to a range of genres.

“Because that’s what this was. Fatal. Tatters and ashes waiting to fall after an explosion that lit up the sky. She just didn’t know it yet.

Hello Stranger is an all new age-gap/hospital standalone that tells a story of fate, love, loss, grief, and hope. Every morning they see each other on the same train and every morning they engage a little more, both lovers of books and total strangers. Fate continues to put them in each other’s path, an eternal optimist & an eternal pessimist who couldn’t be more different. From new boss to new lover, their journey will be one that will change lives forever.

“The sacrifice of loving a man like me was more than she should ever know.

This is only my 2nd read from Jade, the first one was a lot interesting and a whole lot kinky. It was different, but in experiencing that different I found that I really liked her storytelling. So when this came out, I didn’t know what to expect but I knew I wanted to find out.....then I read some of the reviews, realizing it was highly likely I would not walk away with my heart intact. Why would I put myself through it you ask?
description
It’s simple really, because every ounce of pain (and trust me, it’s legit PAIN) this book put me through was a small price to pay for the beautiful story that unfolded before my eyes. This is a book that is impossible to forget.....
“That’s the curse of the most powerful stories, isn’t it? he said. “They never let you go.
.....one that had me absolutely HATING Jade West but at the same time loving her courage to take this couple on the journey she took them on. Was it hard? Of freaking course, but usually the most beautiful ones are.

Book Facts:
Told in: Dual POV, all present day.
Triggers: Palliative Care, death, cancer (both remission & terminal) & other terminal illnesses, grief.
Ends in: A different kind of HEA ending.

The Main Players:
Logan Hall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Eternal pessimist, Palliative Care Doctor, book lover, tormented, stoic, tireless, giving, committed to work, serious, disciplined, intense, controlled, jaded, calm, survivor.
“Heaven. It’s not the afterlife. Not for me. It’s the stunning power in the here and now, the passion and the primality in people’s flesh when the need for closeness eats them alive.

Chloe Sutton: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Eternal optimist, disorganized, nurse trainee, healer, helper, book lover, positive, energetic, bubbly, nervous, clutz, insecure, anxious, awkward, genuinely good.
“I needed him. I needed him like I needed breath. Because he was life. Touching him was life to me.

What Worked:
How “Real they were: I had a weird sort of affection for both leads for totally different reasons. They are both oddballs in their own unique ways, but it was admirable how real they felt. There aren’t any perfect broody antiheroes or gorgeous confident heroines....
description
....they struggle with their own issues but in different ways. I liked feeling like these two characters could be anyone on the street, and not too perfect for reality. She was so awkward at times I literally cringed for her, but it added another layer of realism to this story and she became a character that I think every woman can relate to in one way or another (at some point in their lives).

Jackie Hall: I was obsessed with his mama Jackie. She was the first cause of my tears, but she also was such a fun-loving & positive character. I ADORED the way her love and worry were so focused on Logan.....
“Please, she said again. “I don’t want to leave you here alone. Don’t make me, please. That’s the most important thing of all on my list, that I don’t have to leave you alone.
description
I LOVED her fondness for profanity....
“Cross my heart, she said, and laughed. “The rest of the saying can get fucked.
description
....utilizing it more than any “normal older woman would. I LOVED her bucket list, how each check mark resulted in so much emotion....
“We’re going to damn well make it, you know, all the bloody way to the top, Jackie said, and her words were caught with emotion.
.....but so much appreciation and thankfulness that it could be ticked off in the first place.

How it made me feel: The thing about a powerful story is that you can feel what the characters feel. From their nerves, their love, their happiness, and their pain......
description
.....I felt it in this book. I’ve been crying a lot more lately during my reads, but this book is responsible for more tears than all the others combined. I cried happy tears, heartbroken tears, tears of grief, more tears of happiness....it was just tears tears tears. But it was also all the other feelings I listed above, bc it was SO EASY to connect with these characters. I would normally share some of my most beloved gut-wrenching moments as examples, but this is one you need to experience as it happens on your own.

“Life Lessons: There are SO MANY lessons to take from this work of fiction, lessons we can all apply to our lives. From Jackie’s words of wisdom that it’s the little things that mean the most and to just let the bad go....
“All the miniscule things have huge power. It’s the tiny things that we need to appreciate, all day, every day. And if things go crap and need sorting, they need sorting. No looking back and dwelling on the past. No blaming things for what’s happened. You just do it. Done. Dusted. Move on.
....and in Chloe’s resolute positivity that love is worth everything.....
“Love leads to loss. Loss leads to pain. Therefore, all love ends in pain. She was still confused, mulling over my words. “But love makes it worth the pain, right? You only ever get a fall after a high.
.....to so many others I refuse to ruin for everyone. I liked that I actually took something away from this book other than a great read.

Their Love: I’m normally not a huge fan of insta-love bc it just feels illogical to my overly logical brain. In some rare cases it actually works....so is the case with Logan & Chloe. I believed her when she said....
“I needed him. I needed him like I needed breath. Because he was life. Touching him was life to me.
.....or when she stood so strong in her belief in their love....
“Life is fragile, I told her. “Love is fragile with it. “Not this love, she said. “This love isn’t fragile. I know it isn’t.
description
.....or when he selflessness was on full display....
“I wished I cared more for myself and less for her, but I didn’t. My love for her was beyond any love I’d ever have for myself. My care for her future was more than enough to sacrifice the joy in my own.
description
....so when those words were uttered....
“I love you, Logan. I can say it a million times, but it doesn’t matter. I’ll keep on loving you.
....it felt like a fact of life and not a probability. I loved their love.

The Verdict:
description
This book isn’t one I think you should read, it’s one I think is a necessary read for everyone. Never have I experienced a book that hurt the way this one did, but that simultaneously gave me the kind of hope I got out of this as well. If you prepare yourself and accept that you will cry, likely many times over, this is an experience you will truly be thankful you opened yourself for. It’s definitely a top read for me and is one I will NEVER forget.

“Thank you, universe, I said. “For giving me so much time to love.

Crushed ....

*Spoiler Alert*
As an individual, I read as a sort of escapism. To escape real life everyday drudgery. In the first place, the story started slowly. The pace did not pick up until close to 40%. The H and h, just say ‘hi and showed the back of the book they were reading etc etc.

Then action picked up, but Logan has lost almost all his relatives to cancer, except his grandma. His mom is dying of COPD. He also had Kidney cancer, but it’s now in remission.
To cut the long story short, after his mom died, he broke up with Chloe. She persisted looking out for him, and he then told her he was dying. His cancer came back, and he is not taking treatment for it. So, she insisted on getting back with him.

The epilogue is about Chloe, now a medical doctor, and Logan had died four years prior. How some authors think killing their H or h is okay baffles me.I did not cry, I was just angry. I did not want to read about tragedy. Nope, there is enough sickness and death all around these days. I don’t want it coming at me from my Kindle screen.

Hello Stranger is my favourite book by Jade West. I even think this is my 2020's favourite book so far!

This is not typical Jade West dirty story, but something totally different and I would never expect such realistic, profound and sad story from her.
She created such amazing atmosphere: I loved location - small village placed on outskirts of London and I loved all characters excellent developed personalities.

I highly recommend this book if you seek emotional heartbreaking story.

I was not emotionally stable enough to read this book 🥲🥲.

I don't even know how to put into words what an experience this book was? It was such a well-rounded story, and I went through it all when reading it. It was such an amazing book by JW, with some truly difficult topics, but overall was such a worthwhile story to read.

''Only this time, for once in my life, the dreams that came for me weren’t savage. They were of a freckled face, a mousy-haired shimmer, and a tatty pink bookmark.''

I don't even know what else to say, because I'm an absolute mess rn. Such a good book.

Alright bye, imma need at least 3-4 business days to recover after this one.
