Mid-point Review

I would not normally write a review when I am in the middle of a book. What I am struggling with is how in every story Walker allows women to treat him like crap. Zooey orders him around in a rude way and he follows along like a puppy, happy for the attention. I love so much about this series, but Walker hasn’t grown. I am not sure why Myers continues with this trope, but I am tired of it. Walker is supposed to be this intelligent, solution oriented character who solves the mystery, but in every book women run roughshod over him, making every decision for him and he just follows along.

Another great Mango Bob Tale

Bill Myers writes amusing stories about living in a RV full time in Florida with his cat Bob and the trips they take to cool spots in Florida. This one was different because it is set during the beginning of the Pandemic. It was a departure from the previous books in the series but very interesting reading about this (current) COVID 19 pandemic in a fictional story. My husband and I have enjoyed the series and hope the author will continue to write more!

Another book borrowed through Kindle Prime. I was glad to find another installment of the Mango Bob series. As an RVer, I enjoy how realistically the RV adventures are portrayed. This one didn't have as much about RVing but it was interesting in how well it portrayed the beginning of the COVID pandemic. At this point, the pandemic has been going on long enough that I had forgotten the beginning but reading this brought it all back. It showed the bind that full-time RVers were in during the lockdowns and all the uncertainty. It is good historical documentation. Mango Road changed by having Walker stay in one place and work as security. The story of where, how, and why only added to the enjoyment. I am looking forward to the next Mango Bob adventure.

This is book number 11 in the Mango Bob series. I have read every single one and enjoyed every single one. The first Mango Bob book was published in April 2012. I read it in June 2012. That means that I have been reading Mango Bob for 8 years.

Mango Bob is a cat. He lives with Walker in an RV. When the series started, Walker explained why he was living in an RV. It was a good story and I gave it 5 stars on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. In fact, I gave every book 5 stars except Mango Bay. My comment on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ was that I couldn't get past the grammatical errors. That's because I was an English major in college. I think pronoun usage is very important. The other problem I had is that in one of the later books (can't remember which one) the story of how he got the first RV changed a bit.

Walker tells all the stories. These are first person accounts. He uses short sentences like the ones I have been using. Sometimes this drives me crazy. Other times, I just go with the flow. The other thing about these books is that at times it seems sentences are added to make certain the author gets the necessary word count. He goes into great detail about everything. He takes something out of the fridge. Then he puts it in the microwave. When it is done, it takes it to the table to eat. He lets us know what he drinks with his meal. You get a lot of words in that way.

But of all the books, this one hit closest to home. In this book, Walker has been evicted from the RV park where he normally lives. That is because the Coronavirus has come. There is a pandemic. Where can he go? He needs to find a place to park his RV. He encounters people who are biking who also have not been listening to the news. They don't realize everything is shutting down. This is very real to me because we were on a ship going around South America when the pandemic started. the word "pandemic" was first used just a few days before we reentered the Untied States. We left a calm, normal world at the beginning of January. Two months later, we hardly knew what was going on. The stores were being ravaged by shoppers stocking up on toilet paper and antibacterial wipes. It ihas been 7 months since we returned home and we have only seen antibacterial wipes in stores three times. We have been quarantine at home, mainly because of our age. Reading about Walker and the quarantine was very real to me. This is there first novel I have read that talked about Corvid-19. I watch TV movies and everyone looks "normal" - not at all what we are experiencing right now. All of the TV shows seem like fantasy while our mask covered outings are becoming reality.

Bill Myers always has notes at the end of his books. At the end of Mango Road, he tells us that when the pandemic was declared there were two million people who live in RV's who needed safe places to park and live. As I write this, I have no idea where those people are. Although some restrictions have been lifted, we have no idea if we will ever live freely again - like we did before and like the people at Garrison Farms did in the book - not needing to wear masks all the time.

There were plot twists I didn't anticipate. I could hardly wait to get to the end to see if the pandemic ends. Spoiler alert: just like real life, it hasn't ended yet for Walker and Bob.

I really hope that things get better for them. There was a hint at the end as to where they are headed next. I can't wait for them to get settled and have more adventures. The good think about a pandemic is that it gives authors more time to write.

Bill Myers, write fast! Those of us in our homes need more wonderful adventures to keep our minds off current events!

Walker in times of Covid. This was my least favorite story of the series because of the Covid factor. I am not one who enjoys having the pandemic included in my pleasure reading. Aside from that, the book didn't have the same spark as others. The information about the farm activities was interesting, but lots of build up to nothing. Several possibilities for intrigue were never developed. The ending felt abrupt and unsatisfying. Disappointing book overall. Hoping the Walker from previous books returns in the next volume.

Just like you we are still waiting out the pandemic and we, my fiance and I, had also suffered from pre-Covid illness. We also have stayed with friends and are getting ready to head for Baja California to wait out the stolen election. I look forward to your next adventure and must say that your description of Englewood is wonderful!.

I have recommended this series to many of my friends that live in Englewood. As a matter of fact our dear friend whose husband works with Englewood sailing association recommended your book!

Road weary woes

Bill H Myers puts things into perspective for those who have to shelter in an RV during this pandemic. While still we have to mask, things are going better than a few months ago. Walker and Mango Bob do What they have to go find shelter and stumble into yet another Florida adventure. Long may they travel and let us travel vicariously through them. This hilarious series is well worth reading for pure entertainment and fun!

Couldn't finish

It's paranoia like that, that spred the virus around. Protecting old people is one thing, but the extremely paranoid practices in the first few chapters didn't sit well with me. Walker is a man that is always told what to do by woman, tired of him being shit on and told what to do!! Every book it happens! 👎 nice guys finish last. No real man would comply like that!

I like the story line. Just get tired of the main character getting pushed around all the time and not standing up for himself. People are constantly ordering him around and insisting he does things while withholding explanations, demanding that he pay for everything, and even taking his motorhome and cat. I like the travel aspect and the motorhome info. The story is interesting but Walker needs to find some gonads.

This is perhaps the dumbest and most frustrating book I’ve ever read. The characters are flat. There is no substance to their personalities. The author does not seem to understand foreshadowing at all. He sets up a situation at the end of a chapter only to never address it again. I figured he’d circle back to it so I kept plugging along. Where was the adventure I was promised? The laughter? In another book I guess.

Best one yet

This one was excellent. A bit different from the previous books, but in a good way.
This is also the first book book I've read that mentions Covid, so you know it's pretty new.
And Mango Bob had a bit of an adventure, so more Bob.
All in all, this series is good, clean fun and adventure.

Easy Enjoyable reading.

As a fulltime RV dweller I'm always entertained reading these books.

This was very timely, however my experiences in Florida have been crowded and expensive. I have a larger RV so we spend more time traveling than sitting. We spend about 3 weeks in Florida in the Spring.

Once again Walker is bossed around by the women in his life. At least they make his life entertaining. It was interesting to read about the COVID pandemic from another point of view, that of someone living in an RV full time. I didn’t realize how many RVers were displaced because of the pandemic. The adventures were interesting, the women were jerkish and Bob was Bob. Fun stuff.

Fun as Always

Accurate details on rv life, even the extra nice guy part. Love reliving my years of full-timing through Walker. The issues with Covid are serious so please be safe and read Bob's books to keep you spirits bright.

I have enjoyed all the Mango Bob books and impressed with the facts he puts in about the actual places his story is about. This was an interesting read and really pointed a problem EVa faxed in the start of the pandemic. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Timely and interesting story

IMO this isn’t the best book written by Bill Myers. But it was certainly timely. An interesting premise and I’m not sorry I read it. I’ve read all Mango Bob books and will continue to do so as long as they’re published. Safe travels Bob!

Next book please !!

These books are easy to read and hard to put down. I enjoy reading about his travels in a RV, because it is a dream of mine. It's also fun because I recognize some of the places he camps at. Can not wait for the next book.

Interesting read

I love the Mango Bob series and will give five stars every time unless it really disappoints. Pandemic is a terrible crisis and with the riots it's worse. Hope the world can return to some good times soon.

Fun Adventure

Have read all of the Mango Bob books. Walker is a three dimensional character from the first of the series to the latest. Makes me want to go on the road and have adventures like Walker and his cat, Bob. Good read.

Another fun read

Have enjoyed all of the books and characters. This one was extra special written with the Covid issue still pending. Not having a safe place to stay would be a frightening experience. Can’t wait for the next one.

Best wishes

Mango Road

So sad to have reached the end of Bill Myers' Mango Bob series. Every one was great and grasped your attention beginning to end. This one included Covid, so hopefully he's in the process of writing #12 in the series. Can't wait.

Another Good One!

Rare for me but inside the recent months of the pandemic I gorged myself on the complete works of Bill H. Myers. I enjoy a lot of the mysteries and adventures set in familiar and new to me parts of the sunshine state. Keep them coming Mr. Myers!

Boring read

This one just never got off the ground. You can tell the author is just trying to fill his contract with tribble! Don't recommend, check out the earlier books, they are worth ur time - forget this one.

Why are all the women Walker meets and engages with seemingly cool and distant, making him seen like a wimp? I do like the reference to Dan Coast books. He is one of my faves.
