About the author

Nurmurat Sarykhanov ( 1904 - May 4, 1944 ) - Turkmen Soviet writer. Nurmurad Sarykhanov is one of the most prominent representatives of Turkmen prose, primarily known for his long-standing textbook story "Shukur Bakhshi", based on which the director Bulat Mansurov shot a wonderful film, and the story "Book".

He was born in 1904 in the village of Yzgant, Geoktepe etrap. He studied in Tashkent , then served in the army. In 1929-1937 he was a military journalist. One of the main themes of his work was the Soviet reality of the Turkmen village and the struggle against inert traditions (the stories "Son-in-law", "White House", "The Last Kibitka", "Dream", "Love", etc.). One of the most famous works is the romantic story "Shukur-bakhshi", which is given the form of a dastan . Based on "Shukur-bakhshi", the film " Competition " was shot.

In 1942 he went to the front. Died on May 4, 1944 near the village of Delakeu, Novoanensky region of Moldova.
