I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful book. It is well worth the money! I can’t wait to create some of these gorgeous patterns. They look like they are easy to follow and very well written. The pictures are so clear. I love the sections about the movies “Behind the Magic. This book is so thought out.
This book is fantastic. Also there are plenty of plus sizes for those who need it. The creativity and time put into these are so good. I cannot wait to make these.
Kleine Amigurumis sucht man hier jedoch vergeblich.
These are not easy patterns. I came across this at the library and was excited to see an HP crochet book. A lot of everything HP is knit, which is fine, but I crochet faster because I've done it longer. Anyway, these are almost all intermediate or advanced patterns, so new crocheters may face some challenges. Which makes me a little sad, because new crocheters would probably love to have options. There's a lot of decent patterns, a few are recognizable as items from various characters, and there are many amigurumi items. And, honestly, the fact that so many are more advanced and that there aren't as many clothes, home decor, or accessories as amigurumi is the reason for the low number of stars.
When I started learning how to crochet, my husband picked this book up for me. Of course at the time I did not know how to read a pattern, so I couldn’t use it. Within months I was able to. The patterns are very easy to understand. I also love that it gives you the brands and color of the yarn that they used so that you could make yours as close to the photo as possible. My favorite pattern is the golden snitch baby blanket. I still have a few patterns that I have not made as of yet in this book. I cannot wait to make more.
Perfect for the crocheting Harry Potter fan! Although I am not one of those, I can appreciate the craftsmanship of the projects but I think many of them could be tweaked just a little bit (by a different yarn choice, different color selection, or more detail) that would make them that much stronger. I guess that would also make them a bit more difficult, too... There's a good range of projects and the photography is good also. I enjoyed the insider glimpses. Pattern schematics and stitch charts are included when necessary.
I appreciate that this exists! But 98% of the crafts are what I would consider advanced, which is not where I'm at. But for those who are, there are some cute things in here. I was a little surprised by how many were inspired by the movies, as opposed to the books (i.e. the sweater Ron wore in a scene of a movie, etc) The true diehard fan who is also a talented crocheter would make something amazing from here.
There are a few functional patterns, some just-for-fun designs, and a few beginner level things. The magic story aspect of the patterns is fun and creative. A good many of the patterns are for adults, but there's a few kids "toys" and clothing options available. It's kind of a something for everyone book. I only found a couple patterns I would like to try.
Such fun projects and high quality patterns. I love that the projects aren't all "in your face" Harry Potter references, several are sophisticated, conservative patterns that will remind the maker of Harry Potter while just being cute needlecraft in the eyes of others. I made a sweater from this book that actually won a ribbon at the fair!
Beautiful projects accompanied by interesting Harry Potter fun facts and details about props from the movie series. Projects have clear instructions, but are not for the beginner or even average crafter. These are some hardcore projects that will make incredible heirlooms.
There are so many wonderful patterns celebrating all things Harry Potter. Each pattern has a story which explains how each creation fits into the movies whether it's a creature, clothing or other item.
I personally thought that the patterns were boring. To be fair, I was definitely expecting more toys and the iconic Ron "R" sweater, but to no avail. The patterns are challenging sure, and the facts are cool, but over all not impressed with the selection in this book.
Very cute patterns, but I doubt I will make very many of them.. I did make the snitch baby blanket for my cousin. It turned out beautifully, she loved it, and the baby used the texture of the bobble stitches to rub as he fell asleep.
This book has so many patterns that I want to try and make! It does not appear to be too hard to follow through with each project. Lots of creative and fun ideas.
It was really exciting to read through and see all the patterns I can work up to creating. It lead me into the world of Tunisian crochet and I am dying to get around to making the poncho.
I love what patterns they have in this book, but I don't love that the patterns are unclear and don't make sense (specifically the pattern for Hermione's fingerless gloves).
