Stepan Andriyovych Bandera (Ukrainian: 小褌械锌邪薪 袗薪写褉褨泄芯胁懈褔 袘邪薪写械褉邪, Polish: Stepan Andrijowycz Bandera) was a leader in the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (袨褉谐邪薪褨蟹邪褑褨褟 校泻褉邪褩薪褋褜泻懈褏 袧邪褑褨芯薪邪谢褨褋褌褨胁, 袨校袧) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. He remains a controversial figure, in part due to his apparent collaboration with the Nazis against the Soviet Army. The term "Banderist" was used to label many of those imprisoned in GULAG during the late-Stalinist regime, and was most widely applied to any Ukrainian charged under Article 58 as a political offender, whether or not they had any actual connection to the 袨校袧 or Bandera. According to the post-war German courts, he was assassinated by cyanide gas in Munich at the hand of the KGB under orders from Nikita Khrushchev.
