I was more curious about the backdrop of the story - Temple Entry Movements in and around Madurai.
But for a historical novel, I think Sureshkumara Indrajith is not yet ready. One does not get the feeling of moving around in the early 20th century Madurai. The novel just presented facts in the form of chapters. We do not get to witness the real feelings and sentiments of the people of those times in the form of character development.
Moreover, the Temple Entry backdrop disappears after the initial chapters. Thereafter it is about a Brahmin woman and her fight against her own community's backward lifestyle. She is presented as a kind of rebel with some radical thinking for her times. Even here, we do not get the real character, i.e., the character in ts depth.
To me it looked like a short story stretched too much. Was a bit disappointed.
