i binged this in three days lol (on jjwx the entire thing is 292,793 words in chinese so it’s even longer in english).
i love character driven books and this book absolutely delivered on that aspect. the subversion of typical wuxia tropes was done so well too. the romance is kind of unhinged but in the best way possible. while i did feel a slight distance from the characters due to the writing style and zzs narration style, it didn’t detract from me connecting to the characters and my enjoyment of it.
ALSO THAT SCENE UNDER THE TREE? ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS
i also read so much ao3 fics of this afterwards loll
