Estive hesitante entre 4 e 3 estrelas. Quanto a mim o pecado consistiu em colocar a personagem de Arsène Lupin tão na sombra. É dada mais visibilidade ao promissor jovem detective, Beautrelet, enaltecendo a sua sagacidade no encalço do mais procurado ladrão de todos os tempos, do que àquele que dá o sentido, a cor e a magia, a todo o enredo.
Lupin: "E também não conheces os recursos que existem dentro de mim� tudo o que a minha vontade e a minha imaginação me permitem levar a cabo com êxito. Pensa, portanto, em como a minha vida inteira (desde que nasci, poderia eu dizer) está orientada para o mesmo fim, em como trabalhei como um escravo antes de ser o que sou, e para concretizar em toda a sua perfeição o tipo que queria criar, que consegui criar." Pág. 83
Com imensa boa disposição e uma genuína alegria de viver, Lupin cativa-nos desde o primeiro momento. Dotado de uma despreocupação irónica e com uma visão sarcástica da vida graceja sobre tudo e sobre todos. Não obstante, era um verdadeiro gentleman, sempre muito polido e respeitador. Obstinado, inteligente e diligente é uma perfeita dor de cabeça mesmo para os melhores detectives da época.
Fiz as pazes com a conclusão da narrativa e fiquei com vontade de ler mais; é uma narrativa divertida e empolgante.

A lot of fun! Better than the previous book. I really enjoyed Lupin's new rival and this book felt more believable. It also showed a side of Arsene Lupin we haven't really gotten to know before this, which was interesting and enjoyable. There are less slow parts and the storytelling flows more. I'm back aboard the Lupin fan train!

Creo que es uno de los libros que menos me ha gustado de Lupin, puede que no estuviera en el mood, no lo sé. Sin embargo, para lo corto que fue llegué a un punto en el que estaba aburrida y solo quería que se acabara.
Un misterioso crimen ha ocurrido y se sospecha de que Lupin pueda estar herido. Isidore Beautrelet, un joven muy astuto, será parte de la investigación y hará todo lo que esté en su poder para atrapar al famoso ladrón.
Al principio creí que sería una de esas aventuras en las que Lupin es un personaje disfrazado y recién al final nos enteramos de su identidad. Y lo fue, es decir, hizo esto. Sin embargo, describiría el libro como uno de esos en los que el protagonista es otro personaje y Lupin funciona como antagonista. Acá el fuerte de la historia la lleva Isidore y Lupin es ese villano que viene a arruinarle los planes y poner en peligro a los que quiere.
No tengo problemas con lo anterior, de hecho, suena como una forma mucho más interesante de presentar la trama y a Lupin. Mi problema estuvo en que llegó un punto en que se volvió demasiado repetitivo e Isidore terminó cansándome. Isidore hacía todo un plan, lograba descifrar un enigma, se acercaba a Lupin, pero este le daba vuelta el juego. Debió pasar esto como tres veces y si bien, era obvio, después ya solo cansaba.
Lo que más destaco fue el misterio de la aguja hueca, Isidore no me gustó como protagonista así que no estaba concentrada acompañándolo en su proceso de descifrar todo. Aun así, las pistas y todo el juego detrás fue interesante.
La aguja hueca es una aventura en la que Lupin juega un rol de antagonista del protagonista de la historia, un joven estudiante brillante que parece decidido en atrapar al famoso ladrón y logrará ponerlo contra las cuerdas.

Un texte que les amateurs de Leblanc considèrent comme un joyau. Lupin (et l'auteur) à son meilleur. Une aventure moins "flamboyante", mais incroyablement complexe et beaucoup plus étonnante que d'autres. Un texte rapide, soutenu, qui seulement par endroits montre avoir été conçu pour une publication périodique (paru dans le journal «Je sais tout», entre Novembre 1908 et mai 1909, avant d'être révisé et publié en tant que livre en 1909), mais il ne perd jamais le rythme. Encore aujourd'hui la lecture est légère et amusante.

I have enjoyed several Leblanc titles very much (Confessions of Arsene Lupin and Extraordinary Adventures of Arsene Lupin), but this is a weaker entry in the series. The book opens up with a robbery and a murder. Gentleman thief, Arsene Lupin, is implicated and amateur sleuth, Isidore Beatrelet, matches wits against him. But just when he thinks he has Lupin's methods figured out, Lupin proves that he is still ten steps ahead of him.
Unfortunately, the story goes on forever... (It was first serialized in a French magazine and it seems like Leblanc was adding things or making them up as time went along.) The plot is more convoluted than the others I've read. The whole history of the hollow needle and how its secret had been passed down for generations, then lost, then found by Lupin never really rang true for me.
When Lupin arranges for the kidnapping of the two detectives (Ganimard and Holmlock Shears) to prevent his own capture, it seems like bad form. And when he threatens, pleads and cajoles, it doesn't ring true to his persona. What happened to his gallantry, sophistication, and self-conceit?
Sometimes the translation seemed off, like when Lupin calls Beautrelet "baby." (Possibly a too literal translation of "mon enfant"?) Also, when Beautrelet is close to solving the case, he says, "I'm burning! I'm burning!" (That may make sense in French, but it's not very good English.)
Although I didn't enjoy this novel as much as the short stories, I don't plan to give up on Arsene Lupin just yet. Especially since a dozen of his titles are free for Kindle.

Had been looking forward to this, as it is considered one of the classics of the Lupin series and really found that it didn't live up to the hype.
The 'meeting' between Lupin and Sherlock Holmes happens mostly off stage until the grand finale and neither character comes across very well.
Most of the action focuses on a young French student and amateur detective, who manages to hold his own against the gentleman thief.
There are alot of great ideas and mystery here, but Lupin, who we are supposed to root for, is portrayed as such an obnoxious jerk, and Holmes is written as only barely competent that the meeting of the two feels either forced or really blah.
Young Isadore is a fun character, so that he want him to kick Lupin's ass. You have no sympathy for Lupin. Even as the 'bad guy' of the book, he just comes across as smug, rather then menacing or intriguing.
The reveal of the Hollow Needle is quite cool, but the book wraps up, so abruptly that you don't even get much chance to enjoy that.
I really enjoyed the Lupin short story collections, but maybe he just isn't strong enough to rate a novel.
Would like to see more adventures of Isadore, Boy Detective though.

Ini pertama kali aku baca karya Leblanc dalam naskhah bersiri Arsène Lupin; agak intens dengan kes jenayah yang boleh tahan rumit juga. Lupin yang licik dan selalu guna teknik penyamaran buat aku terhibur sebab Isidore Beautrelet; seorang pelajar tingkatan 6 dan penyiasat amatur yang mula terkenal asyik dipermainkan dengan watak palsu Lupin sampaikan aku pun sama kena tipu.
Misterinya berkaitan harta raja-raja Perancis yang dikatakan tersembunyi dalam satu 'jarum berlohong'. Lupin yang mahu menguasai 'jarum berlohong' telah menculik Ketua Polis Ganimard dan penyiasat Herlock Sholmes (agak menarik di sini bila dapat tahu Leblanc terpaksa guna anagram untuk watak Holmes) yang dipanggil untuk menyiasat. Beberapa kejadian saling berkait; tentang rahsia istana lama Comte de Gesvres, perihal keluarga dan cinta juga kisah Beautrelet yang akhirnya jadi penyiasat utama untuk melawan Lupin.
Penceritaannya aku suka sebab tak lewah dan hanya fokus pada kes. Tertarik dengan gabungan jenayah dan penyiasatannya yang diselit unsur sejarah dan latar klasik bandar Perancis sekitar 1900an (terima kasih Beautrelet bawa aku bersiar-siar!); tentang lukisan-lukisan Rubens, artifak istana lama, susur-galur raja-raja Perancis dan insiden berkaitan keluarga diraja, perihal Joan of Arc, Marie Antoinette dan Caesar. Watak Lupin yang manipulatif dan Beautrelet yang pintar dan mahir dengan deduksi; pertarungan bicara yang kadang berlarutan dan agak menjengkelkan bagi aku namun babak aksinya agak mencengkam, saspen dan penuh kejutan. Bahagian akhirnya agak sentimental; perdebatan emosi antara harta, keluarga dan cinta.
Mungkin aku kena dapatkan dua buku terawal dalam siri Arsène Lupin kalau nak lebih faham dengan perkembangan watak Lupin dan baca lanjut tentang persengketaan dia dengan Sholmes-- ada beberapa adegan diletak rujukan daripada buku-buku terdahulu, agak ralat juga bila aku mula baca buku ke-3 daripada siri. 3.7 bintang untuk The Hollow Needle!

Τι να πω ήταν το πρώτο βιβλίο μυστήριο/αστυνομικό που διάβασα και ήταν απίστευτα ωραίο!
1. Η πλοκή κυλούσε νεράκι πολύ γρήγορες εξελίξεις που δεν το περιμένεις.
2. Η γαλλική ιστορία και το μυστήριο πίσω από την κούφια βελόνα σε καθηλώνει.
3. Οι χαραχτήρες πολύ καλοί ο Μπωτρελε ήταν πολύ καλός και γενικά όλοι χαραχτήρες ξεδιπλώνονται πολύ όμορφα.
4. Το μυστήριο ήταν μαγευτικό δεν ήξερες τι θα γίνει δεν είναι μια απλή ιστορία με έναν φόνο που δείχνει στο 1 κεφαλαίο είναι πολύ περισσότερες ιστορίες μαζί, παρόλο που η πλοκή φαίνεται περιπλοκή είναι πολύ απλή και έξυπνη.
5. Τέλος και το κυριότερο το απολαμβάνεις. Είναι από αυτά τα βιβλία που σε καθηλώνει και δεν θέλεις να πας για ύπνο επειδή θες να διαβάσεις κιαλο. Ευανάγνωστο και πολύ χαλαρωτικό.
Το απόλαυσα από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος, πραγματικά πολύ ωραίο βιβλίο!!!!

La Aguja Hueca es el tercer libro que leo sobre Arsène Lupin según el orden de sus aventuras empezando por la colección de relatos llamada Caballero Ladron y luego su épico enfrentamiento contra Herlock Sholmes 😉 (recordemos que Maurice Leblanc -francés- era contemporáneo de sir Arthur Conan Doyle y tuvo grandes problemas cuando introdujo por vez primera al detective inglés con su verdadero nombre). Y desde ese momento supe que seguiría de cerca sus aventuras.

Esta novela es super cortita, no llega siquiera a las 220 páginas pero es sumamente entretenida. Todo empieza, al parecer, con un robo perpetrado por Lupin y sus secuaces en la casa de campo del conde de Gesvres y a partir de ahí comienza toda la investigación a la que nos tiene acostumbrados Leblanc para deducir que ocurrieron con los objetos robados y con un Lupin herido de muerte pero desaparecido. Hasta ahí todo bien pero luego con la introducción de un nuevo personaje llamado Isidoro Beautrelet la historia cambia totalmente de rumbo y el robo pasa a segundo plano para concentrarse en aspectos mas personales de Lupin.

Si bien la historia me gustó muchísimo por la cantidad de datos históricos -y reales en su mayoria- que maneja debo decir que el final no me gustó para nada. Mejor dicho el desarrollo del final. Yo no tengo drama con los finales de los libros, pero es el desarrollo del mismo lo que me descolocó. Todo el asunto venía con una tremenda carga emocional para que al final "fulano hiciera esto, mengano lo otro y sultano aquello..., y fin". ¡Pero que falta de climax! 😂😂 ¡y que lastima desaprovechar así a Herlock Sholmes nuevamente como invitado!
Creo que en esta historia el autor no le tuvo demasiado respeto, es verdad que puede no ser el mismo detective inglés que todos conocemos pero ya que así lo insinúa pudo al menos haberlo hecho mas coherente con sus acciones. Los que hemos leído Holmes sabemos que no es capaz de tales bajezas. Tiene un honor que cuidar.

En fin, libro que recomiendo mucho si venías leyendo algo de Lupin y sobretodo si anteriormente leyeron Caballero Ladrón. Por supuesto seguire con sus aventuras ya que es un personaje que he llegado a querer muchísimo. Si no me equivoco el siguiente libro es 813 que tengo ahí esperándome. ¡Y espero que sea continuado! Porque ese final... Ese final😅😅.

Creo que en esta historia el autor no le tuvo demasiado respeto, es verdad que puede no ser el mismo detective inglés que todos conocemos pero ya que así lo insinúa pudo al menos haberlo hecho mas coherente con sus acciones. Los que hemos leído Holmes sabemos que no es capaz de tales bajezas. Tiene un honor que cuidar.

En fin, libro que recomiendo mucho si venías leyendo algo de Lupin y sobretodo si anteriormente leyeron Caballero Ladrón. Por supuesto seguire con sus aventuras ya que es un personaje que he llegado a querer muchísimo. Si no me equivoco el siguiente libro es 813 que tengo ahí esperándome. ¡Y espero que sea continuado! Porque ese final... Ese final😅😅.

I wouldn't wish to be a love interest of Arsène on my worst enemy cause she would have a life span of Dylan Dog girl - either that or she would be used and forgotten. Sometimes both. He just plows through everything, shedding a tear here and there and then saying that what happened last year actually happened 10 years ago because you know, he is so special.
He does have a genius mind full of incredible ideas that are used for stealing as much stuff as he likes to be sold to the world's highest bidder, while somehow at the same time being seen as an icon of the French people and portraying himself as the greatest patriot. How, man? By stealing your country's cultural artefacts and selling it to Italians or Americans? Or by outsmarting English detectives? It's an age old story of rivalry between English and French and Leblanc rides that wave like Matthew McConaughey in "Surfer, dude" . Alright, alright, alright (see what I did there ;D) the books are not all that bad and this one in particular had some pretty good storyline with a historical mystery, the beginning was superb but the ending ruined it for me in several ways, not just because of the "James Bond's unfortunate attempt of marriage" finale but mostly for spoiling and simplifying the only cool female character.

Entertaining French listening 🎶🔰
Another will written French mystery adventure thriller novel by Maurice LeBlanc Arsene Lupin tale. I have listened 🎶 to a number of Arsene Lupin stories. Peut-être plus 2,5 car le début était assez cool, quand même, mais j'ai largement peiné à le terminer tant j'étais peu investie et intéressée par le "mystère".

I'd say this book is my favorite in the Lupin series so far. This is exactly what I expected from the previous book: a captivating plot, leaving you more intrigued with each chapter; a great protagonist - Isidore Beautrelet - able to learn from his mistakes, who continues to use his gifted brain to progress further despite the misfortunes and troubles on the way (and not being ridiculed in any way); amazing confrontation scenes between Lupin and Beautrelet, making you jump from your seat each time these two meet; and the unexpected ending showcasing a new side of Lupin.
Speaking of the latter, my only complaint about the story is that the ending, despite being excellently executed, was too abrupt. It felt as if there was supposed to be something else, a sort of epilogue, telling the fate of the protagonist after the case was over.
Still, I consider the book to be amazing and highly recommend not missing this one in case you decide to read some of the works about Lupin.

Jetzt aber! Nun wird die ganze Historik beübt! Caesar, Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, alle kaiserlichen Louis, Jeanne d'Arc und noch etwas Holmlock Shears. Der wird allerdings entführt, weil er eben dem Lupin nicht gewachsen ist. Dafür wird Letzterer vom Schulbuben Beautrelet vorgeführt. Bis ins Herz. Und all das kulminiert in der Hohlen Nadel. So geht das.
Es gab schon realistischere Arsène Lupin Geschichten. Diese war jetzt so plakativ und demonstrativ an den Haaren herbeigezogen, dass ich mich frage, ob Leblanc hier wirklich viel Zeit investierte, um dieses Rätsel zu schreiben.
Nach der vierten Geschichte ist nun auch der Modus Operandi soweit klar, dass man die ganzen Twists, sprich Manöver, von Lupin und seinen mehr oder weniger formidablen Adversarien vorausahnen kann.
Etwas für Fans. Und einigermaßen gute Unterhaltung für den lauen Sonntag.

Delizioso "ripescaggio" di un testo introvabile, che gli amanti di Leblanc considerano una vera pietra miliare. Lupin (e l'autore) al suo massimo, in un'avventura meno 'flamboyante' ma incredibilmente articolata e assai più stupefacente di altre. Un testo rapido, sostenuto, che solo qui e là rivela l'essere stato concepito a episodi (apparve sul giornale "Je sais tout", tra nov. 1908 e mag. 1909, prima di essere rivisto e pubblicato in volume nel 1909), ma non perde mai ritmo. Oggi è lettura divertente e leggera, di grande diletto. Il tutto è impreziosito da un'eccellente veste tipografica, pur nella semplicità di un paperback: splendida la grafia di copertina; ottima la carta (un piacere da maneggiare) e, soprattutto, un carattere di stampa bellissimo, di chiara lettura, elegantissimo; vera soddisfazione per l'occhio. Cose quasi introvabili, oggi, a questi prezzi. Complimenti all'editore, Excelsior1881.

Tadinya mau saya rate 3* tapi enggak jadi. Dibanding dua buku sebelumnya, sebenarnya buku ini terbilang lumayan. Terjemahannya bagus tapi saya enggak mudeng dengan ceritanya. Saya mengerti sih, cuma ya... I didn't get it. Si Lupin ini kok mudah sekali nyamar jadi orang lain. Saat saya kira orang ini adalah ini, eh ternyata Lupin yg menyamar. Twisted namun (saya sudah kebanyakan pakai kata 'tapi') enggak sreg buat saya. Cerita/plotnya banyak sampai saya bingung jadinya.

Mientras más leo sobre Arsene Lupin más me gusta. Sin lugar a dudas, Maurice Leblanc ha logrado crear un personaje emblemático y memorable. “La Aguja Hueca� es el relato aunque por su extensión ya podemos llamarlo una novela, que leí de Lupin y me encantó. El libro tiene un muy buen ritmo, en ningún momento aburre y sigue vigente a pesar de haber sido publicado hace más de 100 años. Este libro pertenece a la colección de “Obras Selectas de Arsène Lupin� pero de todas maneras también se pueden conseguir por separado.

No tengo mucho que decir de este libro. No me ha gustado, se me ha hecho pesado y en ocasiones aburrido. Disfruté mucho más de la primera parte que de esta.
Aún así este libro tiene a favor que no son historias cortas como en el primero, sino que es una única historia lineal.
Una vez más la astucia del personaje de Arséne Lupin me ha sorprendido, ojalá tener esa capacidad tan desarrollada.

Tot dus ver mijn favoriete deel uit de Lupin reeks. Really liked it. Het kat-en-muisspel tussen Lupin en Beautrelet laat je op het puntje van je stoel zitten. Dit allemaal in combinatie met de prachtige geschiedenis van Frankrijk. Aanrader voor iedereen!

Didn't expect that ending. I love Maurice Leblanc's creation. It's really funny that the British have a detective as hero and the french a thief as hero and a detective as the villain. I think it speaks volumes.
