if your man doesn't fall in love with you every time, no matter if his memories are erased, then he shouldn't be your man. qin jiu raised the bar to heaven at this point.
This is my third unlimited flow danmei (after Kaleidoscope of Death and Mist) and I think I've learned this is not my *favorite* genre ?. Didn't really get emotionally invested until the 25% mark but after that I was all in. The relationship and flirting between You Huo and Qin Jiu (especially QJ's one liners) are what kept me attached to the story. There is something so endearing to me about a couple that falls in love in multiple times. Their relationship is really special and I am glad I finished the novel.
Aside from *some* of the exams/challenge tasks I found boring/too long, I did really enjoy it and will re-read it when Rosmei publishes it so it's 5* for me! Amnesia is a big part of this which I normally don't like but it really works here and it didn't bother me at all. If you like these things, you might enjoy this novel:
??Unlimited flow/survival challenges/exams ??Enemies to lovers (kind of) ??Power couple but also chaotic ??Grumpy/sunshine ??Slow burn (but it's definitely there and very worth it) ??Fade to black ??Fun side characters that form a team
I really wish I had started highlighting Qin Jiu's one liners from the beginning of the book because there are SO MANY and they are perfection. Some of my favorites:
"I'm here to have an affair with you" "How can you do naughty things without me" "Even if the system throws me out and clears out my memory, I will come back" "I'm not here to save you, I'm here to love you"
Nothing funnier than the gods of misfortune You Huo and Qin Jiu just bullying everyone + the system for 166 chapters ?
just kidding (not really)
I wanted to point out how predictable a lot of it was, how the logic didn't always hold up, especially for the final arc and such, but I've read the author's note for one extra that this novel was meant to be fun, first and foremost, so at least I know Musuli is aware of the flaws and didn't pretend that it's something more than it actually is. And it does a good job with humor (and writing endearing characters) so Musuli's mission was a success in those aspects.
so fun!! i enjoyed this mystery novel from the very beginning. it managed to build the right amount of tension by making the story believable and the characters real. i guessed some of the twists from halfway through, but that didn’t detract anything from the story - i still found it quite entertaining. the exam questions were all so creative and i throughly enjoyed getting to know our main characters little by little. i got attached to them from the beginning and my love only grew from there.
what drew me in was the fun and simple plot-concept, but what kept me hooked were the characters. i firmly believe that you cannot build a story without interesting characters, even if you have a great plot idea. this novel is a great example of how important it is to have a set of characters that are unique, compelling, and real. even if they were forced in a world that didn’t exactly resemble ours, they still felt like real human beings. and even though i didn’t always agree with their actions, i still could understand their point of view and why in a particular situation they would act like that. congrats to the author for taking a quirky and simple concept and turning into a memorable story! also - this is how you fucking write a slow burn with enemies to lovers, no shade (okay.. a bit of shade) to my previous reads.. this is it!! (sorry. it had to be said hshsh).
would recommend to anyone who enjoys: mysteries and slow burns, morally grey characters, unreliable narrators, enemies to lovers trope, great side characters, and relationships that aren’t toxic!! in a web novel?? how could that be?!?
content warnings: alcoholism, alcohol withdrawal, beheading (briefly mentioned), animal cruelty, blood, bones, body shaming, cannibalism (briefly mentioned), child abandonment, cutting of limbs (mentioned after it happens), death, domestic abuse, emotional abuse, fire, gore, hostage situation (this is the main plot point), murder, mutilation of corpses (briefly mentioned), nightmares about traumatic events, physical abuse, ptsd, scars, severed limbs, slurs (the translator explained in the notes that they kept them in only for accuracy and they believe those words should not be used. i don’t know about the author though..), torture.
I became obsessed with this novel! Musuli really never disappoints.
I feel like I 肠补苍’迟 even describe my love for this novel. I had already read “Copper coins” of Musuli’s and adored it, but this one is really on another level of complexity of plot and characters.
First of all, everyone of the cast of main characters is really well-written and has their own screen-time and time to shine! They are all really memorable and adorable (i loved particularly Yu Wen, 154 and 922 <3. Also, Chu Yue is a character who really surprised me and made me emotional: she is so well-characterized that I empathized more and more with her and loved how the backstory of hers was entangled with You Huo’s. 154’s backstory gave him such a beautiful development and a not-so-common thickness as well as coherence about his fear and relationships with other characters that I loved him even more). The main characters, You Huo and Qin Jiu, are the most explored ones: everything about them seems to be written after planning in minimal details (after reading all the flashbacks and extras, you manage to connect all the little details and clues the author spread throughout the story!) and their dynamic was so refreshing, awesome and warming. They became one of my favorite couple: their stories and relationship are simply so deep that i couldn’t help but fall in love with them (also, together with them, since I felt like I was falling in love with You Huo while reading from Qin Jiu’s pov and vice versa). The sense of familiarity they felt from the very beginning of the novel was one of the best thing to read about. Also, the development of characters like You Huo and Qin Jiu or even Chu Yue, 154, 922, Old Yu and so on really warmed and reached my heart, i loved this attention for them.
Furthermore, the plot was so perfectly planned, thought and described!! It remained always intriguing throughout the different arcs, enriched by a sense of mystery (especially the ending of each arc was really surprising): every one of them was extremely original on its own way and not even once boring or excessively predictable (it was always a please to read these arcs, adding the comedy too): I guessed some little things according to some details I payed attention to but nevertheless the author managed to surprise me every time. It felt like a puzzle whose pieces were to be recomposed step by step with every arc and flashback. Not to mention the system: it was simply brilliant. During the reading I wanted to know why the sistem existed, who and how created it and their intentions, when all of this began and why it was connected to You Huo and Qin Jiu: I was satisfied by the end of the novel! I adored how the past played an important role for both the characters and the plot.
Speaking of the style, Musuli is a really awesome writer and both her style and her way of telling and describing are very suggestive and creative! I had already read “Copper Coins” of hers and after reading Global Examination I dare say she became one of my favorite writer!
To sum up, I loved this novel almost as much as I adored Sha Po Lang by Priest (I didn’t think it would happen again for another novel, except for Dinghai fusheng records by Fei Tian Ye Xiang) and I recommend it to literally EVERYONE.
I really enjoyed my first ultimate flow danmei. The tasks (examinations) were creepy and wild and it felt to me as if the reader was thrown into a world combined of Dr. Who and Otherland.
Our MC (You Huo) and the ML (Qin Jui) were awesome together and separately. I loved their dry sense of humour and how they both drove the system mad with everything they did. Their relationship was sweet which is a bit contradictory for two hardcore military leaders and their love seemed indestructible which I came to appreciate a lot under the dire circumstances they were facing.
Something I especially loved, they didn’t have this one dimensional sex thing going on. Their sex mostly faded to black but it was clearly visible that nobody was the shou (bottom) or the gong (top) and that was highly refreshing to read. I’ve always found top/bottom discourse super boring (even when I read my first LBGTQIA books as a teenager) and have never understood what the fuss was about. Don’t get me wrong people should read whatever they prefer and do whatever they consensually want to do in the sheets, but don’t force your view as the ultimate pinnacle on others. Thanks, for coming to my ted talk paragraph. ?
The reason I’m not giving GUEE full 5 stars is because I found the story dragged a lot between the 70 and 85 percent marks. Honestly, it seemed like that mirror world examination would never end and at times I was really bored.
All in all this was an intriguing and entertaining book though and I’m happy to have finished such a fine read as the first one in 2025.
"Two thousand, three hundred and twelve days later, they met again amidst the snowstorm. They thought it was their first meeting, but it was in fact a reunion." So so good! Loved it! This book had mystery, longing, angst, mc and ml being op, action everything. The author's writing is remarkable even though I've read the english translation I know that it is beautiful. Man, this book has so mnny beautiful quotes. The characters are so well written. You have emotions for all of them, it may be affection or hate. Some may find the climax a little cheap but I think it was a good decision to write it that way cause after so much of happening you wouldn't want more trouble towards the end.Qin Jiu raised the bar so high for me. Such a character he was.
Quick and fun read. This story is about a guy called You Huo who gets pulled into a weird 'global entrance exam' run by a strange 'system', except you pay with your life if you fail the questions. He meets an invigilator, Invigilator 001, and it seems that they have history between them. Over the course of various exams, he realizes that he used to be an invigilator (one of the first invigilators) and he and 001, whose real name is Qin Jiu, knew each other but got their memory wiped.
The story then turns a bit apocalyptic as the two of them work together to take down the system together with the help of various side characters. A lot of past secrets get uncovered as they figure out how to take down the system - they have to unravel something that happened (the origin of the system) almost twenty years ago.
This book is like a mix of horror, sci-fi, contemporary, mystery, and apocalypse genres. The 'system' is somewhat similar to rogue systems in transmigration novels.
The exam questions were super creepy and very creative - really enjoyed reading about how the two main characters bested each exam. The two main characters are really fun. They remind me a little bit of the main pairings from and . They had such a fun dynamic together and I love how much they cared for each other, it was so sweet.
Some parts were a bit far-fetched and the two main characters generally kind of have protagonist plot protection - they best every challenge that comes their way and is always one step ahead of the enemy.
The writing style is soo pleasant to read, especially since I came from the author of Empress Fuyao. No more purple prose! Thank god! Anyway, really enjoyed this book. It's quite short (for a Chinese webnovel) too.
Side note that the portrayal of the Romanian lady was a caricature.
Not gonna lie, 5 stars aren't high enough to rate this. Out of all the danmei I've read so far, this one is definitely my favourite.
The plot was epic, full of action and depth and so exciting to read. Usually, when the focus is not on the main characters, I get a little sad because a lot of the time the main relationship is the best thing in the book by a long shot. But with this novel, that wasn't the case at all. The story was genuinely very interesting. The plot was tied very closely with all the characters, the way everything was connected, and how all your questions are gradually answered as you read...... it's so well done!
Also, something I never expected: I only cried once during the entire novel (though a few other times I got quite close haha) and this was because of two certain side characters at the end. It rarely happens that I love side characters as much as the main two, but in this book, this happened on more than one occasion >A< ! All the side characters are so well written and each of them managed to worm their way deep into my heart and I just love them all so muchhhh alskdfjls
Aaaaand the main couple. When I was recommended the book, the person said that the main couple dynamic was really good and was one of their favourite things about the book, so I was looking forward to seeing how good it really was. And oh my goodness, did it exceed my expectations. The two main characters have the sweetest, loveliest dynamic that I don't even know how to begin describing. There's no damsel in distress, no (mildly unhealthy) one-sided obsession. The MC and ML are actually both very smart and capable, so much so that they seem to have very few people that can keep up with them. Which is why they're so perfect for each other. They work very well together and have a deep tacit understanding, well aware of the other's capabilities as well as his identity as his own person. They honestly just want to be in love together, and nothing is gonna stop them (not kidding, they literally flirt everywhere. It's so funny.) But they complete each other so well, it moves my heart. Their love story is so bittersweet and much determination was required to get through all of it and find each other again. Just a pair of arson boyfriends who do arson (but only when its the system) and literally don't give a sh*t flirting 24/8 and also quite horny for each other, both so smart but never show it off, soft (and also hard ( ?° ?? ?°)) for each other, HURT/COMFORT YESYEYSYSS but also they're both so capable and they both KNOW IT. They're literally so perfect and I don't think I'll ever mentally get over it ???
There was nothing I disliked at all about the book as a whole. The pacing, the tone, the horror, sci-fi, and comedic aspects; all were absolutely amazing. Also, this novel has some of the BEST quotes I've ever seen. They made my heart ache in the best way aaaaaaaa! I wanna reread this soo bad ASDFGHJ
Conclusion: do yourself a favour and read the novel if you're considering it. It is soooo worth it ?? do it for jiuhuo and all the havoc they wreak upon the system skslsskjks
4,5 stars. What a splendid novel! I was captivated from beginning to end.
This work is a great mix of mystery, action, horror, and sci-fi, with no idle chapters and a main couple with great – and I mean GREAT – chemistry. The writing flows wonderfully, and the mystery pertaining to the main characters' past and to the examination itself is enough to keep the reader's attention throughout the novel as the clues slowly add up and the tension between our main characters, You Huo and Qin Jiu, steadily increases.
It is worth mentioning that the english translation of the novel's title can be misleading, as the story has nothing to do with entering university – but it does consist, in part, of a series of tests. Here we see an improbable group of people trying to survive a hostile and apparently unreasonable system, which dictates a number of examinations that must be carried out to an unknown end; what matters is that to pass means to survive, whilst failing can be fatal.
I think 全球高考 is a story full of surprises not necessarily because of the revelations made along the way, but because of the unexpected dynamics and how well they work, as well as the inevitable attachment formed towards the leads and secondary characters. This is, perhaps surprisingly, a tale about friendship and our capacity to do good even when selfishness seems to be the easier option. And yes, it is also the captivating love story of two unhinged but committed individuals.
i saw this book recommended a lot but the horror tag put me off every time. for some reason, something made me give it a chance this time and i don't regret it at all. the mysteries were very interesting and really makes you keep reading to figure out all of the backstory.
the characters are lovable and i'm really happy that i gave this book a chance. some parts still scared me but i felt like as i was being creeped out i was also laughing at the humor that was going on at the same time. love it!
This is the most satisfying novel I've read in a long time ! The plot is amazing with no plot holes, the writing is great and the translation is also amazing. This novel has it all: Fantasy, suspense, romance, mystery, horror, comedy ?. The author managed to smoothly combine all these genres and create such a wonderful story. Highly recommended ??
First, a note on the rating: for the first approximately 90-95% of this book, it was absolutely a 4-star read for me. But too much about the ending and especially the final wrap-up just didn’t quite work for me on a personal level, which made it fall down to 3 stars. That being said, I really enjoyed most of this novel; it’s been a long time since I last read a cnovel, and reading this reminded me of why I loved them so much.
I like infinite flow novels, but I don’t love them. In most cases, I pick them up, read them for a while, and drop them just as easily with no real impression of the plot and characters.
Global Examination was a little different for me, for two reasons: characters and the narrative attitude to the world of the novel.
I’ll talk about the narrative attitude first. One thing that deeply bothers me about a lot of the infinite flow novels I’ve read is how heartless they can be— including the main characters themselves. The ones who die are often treated as having been stupid and weak—and therefore, worthless—and at times even the main characters themselves will sacrifice other, “unlikable” participants in the puzzles in order to proceed with their goal.
That isn’t the attitude of this novel. Yuo Huo and the other main characters aren’t callous with the lives of others at all. At at least two different points in the novel, the solution to a puzzle is or seems to be the sacrifice of innocent lives in order to move forward, but he flatly refuses to consider it.
Which is interesting, because the Yuo Huo, the main character, actually gives off the impression of being a rather cold person. Both he and Qin Jiu, the ML, are lone wolves, and he isn’t the sort to treat a person gently or even talk much to other people. But the further you read, and the more you grow to understand his character and the reasons for his actions, the more you understand just how much he is driven by the desire to preserve the lives around him. He 肠补苍’迟 express it the way most people would, because of Spoiler Backstory Reasons, but he does care. He cares so so much.
And it’s not just the main character! There are some side characters who do follow the “do what it takes to survive, even if it means sacrificing others” route, but there are just as many who don’t. In this novel, lives have value, even the lives of those who would be considered cannon fodder in other novels. This could have been a novel about the dark side of humanity, but it’s not. Instead, it’s more driven by how goodness can still exist even in horrible places, and that’s a narrative that I am always so so so weak for.
I also love how, despite Yuo Huo and Qin Jiu absolutely being overpowered lone wolf-type characters, the other characters aren’t useless. And it’s not just the “skilled” or “powerful” characters—even the “weak” are seen as having value, as long as they’re willing to help. At one point, when one character, Di Li, is discussing bad teammates and another character asks if he means weak ones, he says this in reply.
“Weak ones are actually okay. Although they may not be strong enough, they are still willing to help. My memory isn’t bad. As long as someone is willing to do something, I will definitely remember them. It’s those who don’t do anything that I don’t remember.”
I love this! I love this so much, and is an attitude that gets repeated a few times throughout the novel: that even the weakest and least skilled of people can have something to offer, and—more importantly—that things go best when people work together.
Both Yuo Huo and Qin Jiu are absolutely overpowered characters, but even in the ending,
Second, the characters. I loved the cast of this novel. The side characters feel vividly realized, and get to have their own arcs and character development. My favorite character was absolutely Yu Wen—Yuo Huo’s cousin—and watching the way he developed throughout the novel while still retaining his core self was so delightful to see.
For the most part, I enjoyed the plot too, and the way the backstory of both the characters and the world around them are slowly revealed. There were moments where I thought to myself, “oh, this is an interesting twist, but I doubt the author originally planned for it”, before taking a moment to reflect on earlier chapters and realizing that there indeed had been tiny hints placed all along. I think there was only one twist I didn’t like, and that was
Which brings me to the part I didn’t enjoy as much: the ending. As mentioned above, I did like the aspect of the ending, but there was so much more that didn’t work for me.
I don’t think I can discuss this in a spoiler-free way, so spoilers from here on out.
My qualms with the ending aside, I did mostly find this to be an excellent, excellent novel, and I wish I could have given it four stars, because it otherwise deserved it.
"Two thousand, three hundred and twelve days later, they met again amidst the snowstorm.
They thought it was their first meeting, but it was in fact a reunion."
Oh. My. God.
What a book!
Honestly if anyone had told me a few months ago that I'd be going crazy all over a web novel I'd have laughed at their face. Not even kidding but the fact that I not only decided to give a web novel a try, go crazy all over it, sneakily read the chapters amidst my work has got me even more surprised.
I saw this book randomly on Pinterest and felt like why not? I wasn't sure if I'd complete the book or DNF it somewhere but the book got me so hooked up I got literally obsessed.
Gave me anime like experience. It's literally perfect for those people who love dystopian books. The main character and his love interest were just top notch. The friendship, companionship, humane essence were beautifully narrated here. You Huo, Qin Jin, Chu Yue, Wen, 154 and others ensured they got my heart. Obviously this book makes you question a lot of things especially with the things that can happen in around the world in the name of research and training, the book shines light on the fact that how long a human mind can go just for its own sake, to battle the fears, especially the fear of being gone.
I rarely read horror books but this one was a perfect blend of sci fi, adventure, friendship and love, horror and mystery. Nowhere do you feel bored or find your mind slipping away while reading. I'm so glad I read this book and I can't believe I finished it and I feel kinda empty.
Also I never read something this long so I am totally surprised. That I read a long book, a long web novel. This book deserves all the hype and attention and it's true it's so underrated cuz why nobody is talking about it?!
I hope to find more such books. Ah I cannot not appreciate KK for translating this entire book from Chinese to English. It was really such a tremendous work! Kudos to them!
I have been reading this book pretty much since KK started translating it. I nearly DNF'd after the first arc and that would've been the greatest tragedy ever because honestly, this book was AMAZING. There's a lot of elements that are pretty standard quick transmigration/infinite flow tropes but they're executed much more professionally and they come across with more style. The slow unfolding of all of the secrets to do with the system were fascinating and the relationship between You Huo and Qin Jiu was just... *chef's kiss.* I have a minor quibble with something that happened as part of the epilogue but beyond that, the rest of the book was pretty much everything I wanted it to be and it really does benefit from a re-read so that you can see all the hints and signs that were being dropped from the beginning. I can't even figure out how to really talk about it without spoilers because there's so much to unpack. But it's great, okay? It's so great and you need to go read it now.
A história deles me fez chorar feito uma condenada
"Fortunately, after going around in circles for so long, he still met him." ??
"Everything here has a beginning and end, but it could also accommodate all the unexpected and long-awaited reunions. The world is a brilliant and grand place. Welcome home."
there's so much yearning you can pack into a story about two people whose lives have intertwined and separated for no less than three times, forced to forget each other but still ended up falling in love every time their fates crossed. i am okay ??
“Fortunately, after going around in circles for so long, he still met him”
eu t? completamente devastada que eu terminei esse livro sério n?o tinha botado fé nenhuma nele, no come?o n?o tinha gostado muito mas resolvi dar uma for?adinha mesmo assim e agora estou sem ch?o sabendo que terei que continuar a vida sem Eles sério sei nem o que falar aqui mas saibam que eu to completamente apaixonada uma das melhores histórias que eu já li e mesmo ela sendo ENORME eu leria mais uns 100 capítulos disso aqui facilmente i just want them back
I have conflicting feelings while reading this. The whole story was amazing, thumbs up for the plot and the storyline. The imagination of this author is quite something else. However, I didn’t feel the romantic connections I should have with the MC and the ML. It seems too sudden for me. Not much development on that area which still have a lot of room for improvement.
putting this temporarily on hold!!!! i loved everything about this so far and will return to this soon i just can't juggle two unlimited flow danmei at once :/
you're waiting for them to like ur story on insta meanwhile these guys are on their 2nd memory wipe out making sure they fall deeper in love each time. instead of waiting u should beat these 2 up.
This webnovel consumed my existence for the past two months, and now I'm done ?
I can't even begin to express how much I loved this. If you are considering picking this up, I would urge you to do so without reading this review ? I got into it (mostly) blind and it was such a wild reading experience.
Short synopsis: we are following You Huo, who has been pulled into a mysterious exam supposed to screen and test for "dangerous individuals" on the behalf of the military. Along with him, we soon realise that something has gone quite wrong with this system of examination: it started to pull in random people, family members, and even children. This system functions as a separate world: once you get pulled in, the only way to get out is to pass the exam. You Huo will have to find a way to outsmart the sentient examination system and finds unexpected help in the form of Invigilator 001, named Qin Jiu, who also harbours some resistance towards the system.
Why I loved it so much: - The leads: Both of them are complex and have a rich history with one another. That slow burn is worth every ounce of waiting, pining and frustration. Once Qin Jiu realises his feelings, he becomes a flirting menace that no one could ever resist, even cold and reserved You Huo. And You Huo..... hands down my favourite character. Mu Su Li did this thing where she made me feel about You Huo the way everybody feels about him when they first meet him: he's cold, indifferent, and I was annoyed at how little he seemed to care. But I got such a whiplash when we found out why he acts like this, and how much he *actually* cares ? Both of them are ready to sacrifice a whole lot for the other, and the way they come together is so seamless. There is meaning behind each of their action, even seemingly insignificant, and they way it all unraveled was beyond heartbreaking. - Side characters: they were also incredibly touching and so easy to get attached to. The cast grows larger as we go, but it doesn't become overwhelming. I have such a soft spot for 154 and Chu Yue now ? the chosen family vibes are immaculate.
Was it perfect? Not exactly. It took me about 30% of the book to fully "get it" and to feel invested. The pacing can be a bit rough around the edges, and some problems are too easily resolved. But none of this really stopped me from enjoying the story, as the characters and the plot, for me, truly made up for it.
[Will possibly add to this once I have recovered from the massive book hangover I got after finishing this novel]
