Trip

I was born and raised on Rebel Sky Ranch. In the long, terrible year since my mother’s death, meeting Sam is the one bright spot. He reminds me of the horses we rescue. Scarred, skittish, and…strong. Beautiful . He’s a bit of a hat-stealer, and, truth be told, I’m a little leery of his chosen profession. The things he does in front of a camera... Well, it makes me blush just thinkin' about it. But if that scar on his face is any indication, he could use somebody at his back. I aim to be that person. And yeah, some of my parts get confused by the fact that he’s all delicate and sparkly, but that’s not important. Even if the good hand lotion has somehow made it into the tack room. I just hope he knows that he’ll always be safe with me.

Sam
I’m a cam boy who officially identifies as Wrangler-sexual. It’s entirely the fault of Trip Goodnight, the strapping cowboy at the ranch next door. He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to be the father of my two-point-five children. We’re an unlikely pairing, what with him being a straight cowboy and me being a gay sex worker, but those, darling, are mere details. When he saves me from a literal nest of rattlesnakes, it’s nothing if not true love. I’m aiming for a spring wedding. While it’s true that I haven’t been able to let a man touch me since I was attacked last year, and there’s no telling what my father might do if he manages to find me, I’m not letting any of that stop me. In fact, I’ve stolen Trip’s cowboy hat and used it in one of my videos, so I’m already well on my way to making him mine. Besides, he’s the first man outside of my found family who’s made me feel safe. Protected. That’s gotta count for something...right?

I have a weakness for cowboys and got a few chapters into this book before remembering that I broke up with this author because reasons.

Kelly Fox has a bad habit of beginning a new series with the assumption that the reader has read all her previous work. Readers who didn't read the entire Wrecked: Guardians (*raises hand*) series will be missing Sam's entire backstory.

I liked Sam and Trip. They were very sweet together, and Trip's realization that he's definitely "not straight" led to some seriously juicy lovin'. I didn't have an issue with the relationship development or MCs.

But I had massive issues with the ridiculous, overwrought, melodramatic plot. I'm not going to get into it, but suffice it to say I was rolling my eyes through much of the story, especially the ending.

And OMG just stop with all the secondary characters. I can't keep them straight (pun not intended).

sometimes being a clown pays off😉

so this author and i have never really seen eye to eye.

i loathed so much
was a mess.
was definitely the best of the three... but still pretty meh.

so i had decided i was parting ways with this author since i tried THREE times and i just didn’t vibe.

but then... i found out that was lil baby Sam’s book and i couldn’t walk away. he was probably the only character i was remotely interested in from the original series i mean a homeless 20-year-old male prostitute who’s now finding his feet in the world after a lot of abuse and neglect? hell yeah im interested.

and his crush on Trip the straight sexy, older cowboy from the previous series was something else i was dying to know more about. they’re kind of an unusual pair, so to see that they were getting their own romance... i had to give this author one last try. what can i say? im a glutton for punishment🤷🏻‍♀

but boy am i glad i gave this author one last try bcos i loved this book. so much. to the point i tried to drag out finishing it bcos i really didn’t want Trip and Sam’s story to end.
Like this smile is genuine and only for me.

Sam was as sassy, courageous and heartwarming as i remembered. a pure lil ray of sunshine, so confident in his identity and sexuality despite everything he’d been through. his crush on Trip made me giggle bcos he really was like one of your friends gushing to you about someone they’re into the way he kept referring to Trip as his boyfriend or future husband, who just didn’t know it yet, was hilarious. and it made Trip’s inevitable love for Sam that much sweeter.

now, Trip was just everything . everyone deserves a Trip in their life. i want one NOW. he was sweet, kind and swoon-worthy, with a fierce protective streak. the way he grappled with his sexuality was admirable to read he just felt everything for Sam and wasn’t freaked out that he had feelings for a man. and i liked that portrayal bcos he just took everything in his stride it had just never crossed his mind that he could be into men too and when he acknowledged and confronted his feelings for Sam... eurgh he was full throttle and totally devoted. like i said, I want one. gimme my own Trip, pronto.

”I don’t take this lightly, you giving your body to me like this. You are more beautiful than you could possibly know. I’ve ached for you from the moment I had you in my arms.

Trip: im straight
also Trip: continues to comment on how beautiful and cute all the men in his life are
me: hmm... are you sure about that, bud?

like this bitch nonchalantly says “Sad that he doesn’t understand how perfect he is and “He’s brighter and more beautiful than anyone I’ve ever seen in these parts about Sam? you keep telling me you’re not obsessed with that man Trip. we believe you😏

i mean he even notices Sam’s cute, colour-coordinated outfits:

”Whatever. You’re just jealous because I look better in your hat than you do.
“I have to give you that. I reach out and tug on the brim. “Though, in my defense, you are probably the only person I know who’s cute enough to pull off the rarely-seen kitten–Stetson motif.
“No man wants to be called cute, Trip.
“Your shoelaces match the pink bows in the cat’s hair, which matches the color of your lip stuff.
He looks down at himself and nods. “Fair point. Lifting his eyes to mine, he asks, “Too much?
I bite my lip, shaking my head as I give him a thumbs-up. Perfect, I mouth.

(im sorry for all of the SamxTrip quotes but these men made me swoon, okay?)

interactions like these made me melt, honestly. their pure and beautiful friendship blossomed into a soft and unassuming love, and watching it unfold was... gahhhh just so heart-melting. like the damn cowboy hat scene in the barn literally had my heart pounding in anticipation bcos i could feel the love and the pining. damn.

their affection and softness, contrasted with their intensity and passion just made for an exciting and truly stunning read. honestly im kinda blown away with how obsessed with this book i am considering my previous lacklustre reads from this author. something about a cute effeminate cam boy and his sexy, charming cowboy has me all flustered

His grin is going to be the death of me.

their conversations about respect and consent in sex was also spot on. while Sam liked somewhat rougher sex with a lil degradation, Trip constantly reassured and reminded him how much he respected Sam. when they first kiss, Trip even asks “May I? seeking verbal permission and consent, especially as he’s aware of Sam’s past. i thought the conversation was portrayed effortlessly.

in addition to this, the conversations surrounding sex work were also pretty darn great. it wasn’t something Sam was ashamed of or that anyone else shamed him for. his past sex work wasn’t a shameful secret and when Trip found out, neither his respect or his feelings for Same dwindled. the other characters even encouraged and supported his OnlyFans work. especially Trip. he made it clear and known that despite being a tad jealous and possessive, he supported Sam wholeheartedly in whatever he did. and if that didn’t just add to the swoon-factor. it was seriously off the charts with a guy like Trip.

Sam’s friendship with Desi was another surprising highlight of the book. i mean their first interaction definitely solidified my love of this friendship:

“I’m definitely not threatening. Like, at all. I'm the fun gay black sheep of the family who just got kicked out of his dad's house.
I laugh, appreciating his openness. “Well, then. That's two of us in the fun, gay, and kicked out of our dad's house club, I say, limping my wrist, which nets me another laugh. “I got kicked out because I wouldn't go to conversion camp.
Well, not so much kicked out as ran for my life, but he doesn’t need all of the sordid details.
Desi limps his wrist too, cackling. “Oh, I got kicked out because I was caught with a guy’s dick up my ass.

and while the previous characters from the og series didn’t tickle my pickle, i did love the way they protected and cared for Sam. they were fierce and unapologetic in their love for him and i loved it bcos no one deserved a found family more than him. they all showed up for him even when he didn’t ask. the fact they referred to him as their brother and son was just 🥺

and not me shipping Desi and Wyatt💀 im sorry but if they don’t get a romance the wasted potential would be criminal. pissed the next book is Sparrow’s tho and not theirs😒

so, what did we learn from this experience? never give up, despite all of the clownery🤡

“I loved you from the moment I rescued you, and it's cheesy, but I loved you even more when you rescued me back. When you showed me the parts of me that I didn't know I had.

Kelly Fox books just do it for me! I don’t know how she does it but as soon as I start a series of hers I instantly fall in love with the whole cast.

I already met Sam in the Wrecked: Guardians Series and I’m so glad I read this series beforehand. It’s not important to do so to follow the plot here but I had so much more fun because of it. Because when Sam got rescued from a life threatening situation in book #2 of the series he moved in with Mama & Papa Bash on the vineyard right next to Rebel Sky Ranch. And I was so happy to see all of my beloved Bash-family characters again here - esp. Anders

I was also so happy to see Sam getting his well deserved HEA after all he’s been through. Trip was just perfect. And *phew, Trip is one dirty-talking mofo. But also so tender, caring and protective - just what Sam needed. And I loved that Trip wasn’t freaking out or ashamed that he suddenly and for the first time in his life had the hots for a guy. And for a sassy, glittery little CamBoy at that.

And that epilogue?? *swooning *laughing *fanning myself

I’m so damned hooked with this series now I contemplate hard if I should just continue reading the rest of the series or wait for the audios that are supposed to release at the end of the year. But I think my impatient self already made up its mind. *lol

I hate reviewing books like this. I mean, it was nice and I did enjoy it, but I was missing that something extra that I often feel when reading a great book. Especially since I'm reviewing this after I've read a different book that did give me that spark.

This had everything I liked in a book, and still....

On paper Trip and Sam would have been among my favorite kind of characters. Trip, the sweet muscular man who just wanted to take care of Sam. And Sam, the hurt sex worker (web cam only) who had some trauma to overcome.

This should have been a total winner!

And I'm sad it wasn't. And I can't even explain why that is. It wasn't a bad book, and overall I did enjoy it. But I still felt something was missing.

I love Sam and Trip, the two of them together or silently dreaming about each other had me grinning the whole time.

“Do you have anything without sugar in it? I need to keep my girlish figure. That’s a lie—he’s got my heart rate so elevated that caffeine and sugar together might just make me vibrate out of my skin. 🤣😂🤣

Oh my God. Ohmygod. Oh. My. God. I bring my hand to my cheek as I stumble out into the sunshine. He. Kissed. My. Cheek. Fuck me sideways, I’m swooning. 😊😊😊

It's a nice story with an interesting plot and even a little action drama where my heart almost stopped.
Trip always thought he was straight, obviously not, so it takes a while for sex to happen, but hello. Am I glad he accepts himself so quickly and jumps right in. My goodness that was hot.

“There you go, baby, come on my fingers. Fuck, my cum looks so good dripping out of you. Come on my fingers, baby. I love you so much. 😳😳😳

And there's a hilariously cheesy ending with the strangest marriage proposal ever.

The side characters were a bit too much for me and somehow a backstory is missing, should I have read something else first? Obviously, I don't like spin-offs very much. Well, at least it was ok, but unfortunately not perfect.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes & tags down below.

"[...] You know I love it when you force a second orgasm out of me." He smiles against my ear. "I do. You know I respect you, right?" I laugh. Every time we get rough, and he gets nasty, he always checks in after.

Ugh. I just love this book so much, and I listen to the audiobook pretty regularly. Trip and Sam are seriously one of the most adorable pair of MCs there ever was. The whole thing is just so damn wholesome, but at the same time, it's not too fluffy, and it still has substance. This book also has one of my favorite 'first kiss' kisses ever.

Trip experiences what is possibly the cutest, least freakout-y sexual awakening in the world, and I want everyone to read it.

How had it not occured to me that being sexually aroused by a man... isn't straight?

Sam is definitely shameless (especially in his thoughts) when it comes to his crush on Trip, but he's always respectful, and he's patient and helpful when Trip starts to question things and feels insecure. They really are disgustingly cute together. A sexually free, proud femme gay man, paired with a man raised with country/cowboy manners, who's also secretly absolutely filthy (the good kind) in bed? You just know it's gonna be good. And Kelly Fox really does write some of the best spice out there these days.

His muscles look so functional - which is just dead sexy - and I shove my hands into my pockets to prevent myself from rubbing them all over the little bit of belly that he has. If he's hairy, then it's settled. We'll have a spring wedding.

The book is narrated by Blake Lockheart as well, and man, I love that narrator so much.

"Won't she need the muck boots?" I ask, already not liking the name. What is muck? It can't be a good thing. No good thing ever comes from something that sounds like you just cleared your throat.

I'm starting to wonder if femme gay men just lose interest around the third button from the top.

"Son, you know that you and Sam are welcome to stay here. You don't have to stay over at the vinyard." I give my dad an aggressive side hug and kiss his temple. "Oh, I know. I'm doing that for you, not for us." Sam looks up at me, his mouth open. "Trip," he grits out. "Don't say that to your dad."

What a pleasant surprise, and a wonderful book to end my book slump.

First of all - thank you Kati for making me read this - you were right, it's been really lovely. And thank you for making me get the audiobook - it's my first book narrated by Blake Lockheart, and he immediately made it to my top 5, I really need to check out other books by him.

But back to the book. It's obviously some kind of spinoff to a previous series, but it can be read on its own (even though I'll go back in time and read the previous ones now).

Sam lives in the middle of Texas on a ranch after having previously been rescued from a dire situation. He hides from his religiously fanatic father, and he earns his money by being an OnlyFans cam boy. He has a crush on the (straight) cowboy next door, Tripp.

One day, Tripp rescues him from being bitten by a rattlesnake, and they quickly become friends - and Tripp realizes that he's not as straight as he previously thought.

Is it realistic? No, ofc not. I mean - 2 ranches, in the middle of Texas, populated by almost only queer men? 95% of the people being accepting and open? Especially in Texas? Not very likely.

But who cares? The characters are interesting and unique enough so they don't blur into each other, making me curious about not only the past but the future books in this setting, too. And I LOVED Tripp's inner monologue when he came to terms with his sexuality, and how methodical he started watching different kinds of porn before switching to OnlyFans and realizing that he is, in fact, "Sam-sexual".

The drama was relatively low (with a small spike around 80%), and the banter and Sam's thoughts were so funny that they made me giggle more than once.

4.5 stars for the story (after all, there were some minor plot holes - but as I said, I didn't really mind). And all the stars for the narration - definitely go for the audiobook if you're into listening!

My first ever Kelly Fox book, and I received an advanced copy for an independent review.

Right from the start, Kelly’s beautifully descriptive writing style draws you in. The vivid painting in words of the Texan landscape & ranch life has the setting jumping out of the page at you, and it quickly sucks you in. Match that with the luminous femme personality of Sam, and the sweet & steadfast Trip, and you know this is something special. The two quickly realise there is a connection between each other, right from the first meeting. Sam is “out & proud but at the same time vulnerable and trust-shy after terrifying past experiences, and Trip is protective, reliable & honest, but also discovering in his attraction to Sam that he might not be as straight as he always thought. Sam’s hilariously sassy banter, and Trip’s straightforward sweetness gives you all the feels, as well as lots of laugh out loud moments. And the heat is. PHEW!! The plot isn’t predictable, and the author is great at giving little plot teasers as you go to keep you wondering & not wanting to put the book down, especially as crises develop for the characters. As Sam & Trip develop mutual appreciation of each of their abilities to survive & thrive through difficult life experiences, trust & intimacy also develops. I think one of the standout features is the beautiful representation of how easy seeking consent with intimacy can be - Trip’s constant consideration of Sam’s past & how it affects him now is SO WELL WRITTEN.

Love love loved it!

I have mixed feelings about this... While it was a solid read, I struggled to connect with the characters and plot. I enjoyed the ranch and cowboy dynamics as well as the sex work and queer representation, but beyond that, something was missing. The romance and steam were prevalent and I loved how devoted Trip and Sam were to each other, but the side characters and their backgrounds/stories were confusing. I found myself lost for a good chunk of this book; I think all the introductions were set up for the following few books in the series but the drama that ensued around the main characters was too much for me.

This was so so good! Bi awakening done in the best way, plus a cowboy that’ll make you swoon and I was totally sold 😂 I really like how Sam and Trip’s relationship developed, and how Trip realised his sexuality. It didn’t feel rushed and I really liked the pacing of it. Sam was a really funny character, and even though he’d been through some really rough stuff he had a really bubbly personality and made me laugh a lot. Trip was such a gentleman, and might’ve made me start to see the appeal to cowboys 🤣 I really like how this was sex worker positive and didn’t ever insinuate that any of Sam’s past or present work was something to be ashamed of. There was no relationship angst in this either which is always a bonus to me.

“Trip doffs his hat and gives me a gentlemanly bow so perfect I would have assumed he was greeting a queen. Which, to be fair, he is.

I loved the two very distinct personalities of the MC’s.

I hated how Sam just assumed that Trip was straight, just by looking at him and mentioning it, ie “he is Mr Straightly MC straight “the straightest straight to ever straight about 100 times even AFTER Trip tells Sam that he goes to Gay bars. The most baffling phrase is “he is visibly straight??!!!! Like WTH does that even mean?? You can not actually “see someone's sexuality, at best it is a guess, though with some people there are more clues than with others.

Also one of the MC’s did some “outing of other characters which I wasn’t entirely OK with.

My first read from this author and I had a pretty nice time. Especially the swoon cheek kiss moment when I almost lost all reason and my eyes rolled back so far while I was driving that it was not entirely safe for road users.

finally a 5 stars book but most importantly, a book that i didn’t dnf.
i don’t have the mental capacity for a real review so i’ll just point out a few things real quick.
the romance is out of this world. they are perfect for each other, the pacing is perfect and THEY are perfect.
a lot of people complained about the many characters from other books, and yes, i have to agree with them, it’s a lot of characters at the beginning, but honestly it didn’t bother me that much.
there is a recommended reading order, that i will ignore because i thrive in chaos. but if you’d like to read this and you like stability, maybe you should check it.

DNF @ 34% The book is boring me and I don't care enough about the plot or characters to keep reading. It also annoyed me that although this was the first book in this series, there is a bunch of backstory for a MC and several side characters that seemed to take place in another book/series.

I just love all the books I've read by Kelly Fox. They're wholesome and subvert some of the stereotypical tropes of each genre she writes about. Trip is just sweet cowboy goodness and has a dirrrrrty mouth. Our cam boy Sam has a traumatic past, but he is femme goodness and has an inordenately amount of inner strength. Their relationship develops slowly and the bi awakening was utter perfection. The secondary characters are amazing as always and I can't wait to read about them

I didn't know what to expect from this book. Knowing how much I love everything else by Kelly Fox, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed no matter what - but was it going to be more emotional like her Wrecked series? Or more snarky with a whole lot of dark humor thrown in like the Guardians? I figured with Sam involved there would be a whole lot of snark, but what about everything else? Let me tell you...this book is the absolute perfect combination of snark, emotion, humor, swoon, and sexy times, with just a hint of danger. I don't know how Kelly does it, but her books just keep getting better and better.

I'm a big fan of a size difference between MCs, and Kelly is the absolute QUEEN at writing them. Now, Sam isn't necessarily small but he is definitely femme, and Trip is a big ol' cowboy, and they fit together so dang perfectly. I'm sure I have mentioned this in a review of Kelly's books before, but one of my favorite things about her writing is that her men get together and they stay that way. There's no 80% miscommunication and breakup, there's no back and forth, there's just two men, who fall in love organically, and do everything in their power to hold on to it.

I knew from his first introduction in that Sam was going to be someone special, but I was not prepared for Trip. That man...he is a giant teddy bear and I couldn't get enough of him. He's swoony and dirty in the best of ways, and it's no wonder Sam fell for him immediately. I am so, so impressed with this book, and Kelly in general. This series is going to be fantastic - we have so many characters to look forward to. Desi, Wyatt, Warwick, Sparrow...I can't wait to see how everything at Rebel Sky Ranch plays out.

Oh and I can't forget to mention that epilogue...sexy AF, swoony AF, adorable AF. Just so good!

This was very good. Very, Very good.

I honestly do not know what to expect when I began this book; given the fact that I was introduced to Kelly Fox from her action-packed Wrecked: Guardians series which I loved. So yeah, I knew she could write a good action book but could she write a western/cowboy romance? The jury is in and the answer is a resounding YES.

I adored this book. It was so sweet, so adorably awkward at times and had me laughing at Sam, Desi and even Trip's antics at times. I honestly did not expect to enjoy myself so much but I am so glad I did. Oh and special mention to Warwick and Sparrow. Lol!

This was a slow burn romance as well; given what Trip believe of his sexuality for majority of the book.

Also, it had a splash of quick paced, heart-thumping scenes getting to the end(because why not? lol) and all in all, the fact that I stayed up reading this book until 3am should tell you all you need to know.

I had a few niggles surrounding the seemingly omniscient/omnipresent nature of Sam's dad and how that was handled , as well an even littler niggle with the "speed" to the more intimate stuff between my two sweethearts after feelings were acknowledged . Even with that, I believe it's probably just me being me.

Aside that, everything was "Peachy!" (read the book to catch the reference Lol!)

I'm excited for this series and honestly cannot wait to get my grabby hands on Sparrow's book next!!

Blake Lockhart really made this book for me, but mmhmm something about a cowboy romance just is mmm nice ;) haha

i do think while yes i did kinda read it as a standalone i might have had a better time with the story if i read Kelly Fox's "Wrecked: Guardian's" series since that would of had Sam's backstory. Yes it is kinda brought up but the guys from the "Wrecked: Guardian's" series are in this book two. i didn't like book one of that series so i skipped everything else. Even with that said, you can read this on its own, the first couple chapters will be a tad confusing but after that it was a good story.

not a lot of crying men, just fully understanding cowboys who are questioning their identity and doesn't fight it.

i did love how Trip was so supportive and how Sam didn't pressure him. they were great together. and since i see blake lockhart narrating this book i am hoping he is on the list to narrate the others.

Very sweet low angst demi awakening with an open-minded cowboy and a cam boy recovering from trauma.

If you love cowboys and want to read about the most open-minded cowboy ever, then this is your story. Everyone is queer here and it’s okay. Discovering you’re not straight…totally fine. Mom and dad had an open relationship…fun. The guy you’re into does cam work and used to hook…it’s all good. This is some fluffy goodness full of acceptance and I actually liked it. It sounds like a lot when summarized, but it was done well. There just wasn’t enough tension to keep my interest throughout and the sex scenes were lacking too.

This felt like it belonged to another series. Way too many characters who have complicated backstories I know absolutely nothing about. There was also a reliance on OTT drama that’s resolved at light speed or off page.
I liked how accepting Trip was but overall it was a bit “meh. I struggled to finish this one.

Truly enjoyable tale, that's sexy, exciting and
heartwarming !
The delightful descriptions catch our attention as we watch the way our tender cowboy rides his ranch to visit his Mom's grave. We get his inner thoughts, what he sees and feels.
Trip, about 25, has a degree in Land Management,

he's strong, thick hair, beard, blue eyes, and is straight. The well run Rebel Sky Ranch has cattle, horses and Q the goose.
Sam, 23, works his OnlyFan account, is small,

colorful and bright, brown haired, a scarred face, is also getting his MBA, plus he's witty and fun. He lives on the neighbor's winery, where he's become "found family," as a result of their caring and protecting him when they rescued him and since then.

Trip meets Sam when he shoots the rattler

about to strike Sam. Sam likes what he sees in the tough cowboy, but gets tongue-tied around him.

We see what ranch life is like, the scenery, the fun banter, and the interactions of Trip and Sam.
I liked these two together, and how Sam helps Trip explore his sexuality, and the issues that Trip can't understand about himself, and why he's drawn to Sam.

Both men reap the benefits of the exploring sexy times, M/M firsts for Trip, but he's open and and extremely hot.

This is funny, serious, and exciting as we are moving forward. There is a threat to Sam and has been protected well, but his self-righteous father attempts to kidnap Sam, where we get suspense, violence and rescue.

I totally enjoyed this well paced, terrific story!

We got amazing characters, inner thoughts, deep emotions and sizzling sexiness, plus... cowboys !
ENJOY !

I loved the start of this book. Getting to know Trip and Sam was a hoot. However then things got a little messy. There were a few too many different story lines going on at the same time. It probably wouldn't be a problem if you have read the authors two other series Wrecked and Wrecked: Guardians. This is kind of an unofficial spin-off of the spin-off. I have only read the first book in each of those series though so I was struggling a bit. At times it also felt a bit preachy about different kinds of sexuality. But I did love Trip.

Ok, I guess I’m in the minority but I didn’t care much for this book. In fact, I won’t read anything else by this author. I can appreciate a femme character especially when he has gumption and brains. There was something about Sam that turned me off. When I looked at her other books they all seemed to have similar characters. Oh well, she doesn’t have to depend on me because obviously many other people love her books.

3.5 stars rounded up.

I wanted to love this, I really did.

The storyline was great, really my kind of thing, plot, tropes, the whole shebang.
Unfortunately, I found the execution somewhat lacking.
I loved Trip and Sam, but some of the background characters that I knew I was supposed to like, I just found a bit unlikable. Some of the events happened without the needed build-up. Sam was too forthcoming with his traumatic story when talking to virtual strangers. But most of all, I found that the gay men and gay sex just sceamed that it had been written by a female. I don't know. Everyone else seemed to love it, so maybe it was just me.

All that said, I'm most definitely jumping straight into book 2, because I want to give it another chance. I also really want read the Wild Heart Ranch series and heard it's best to read Rebel Sky first.

I've been a fan of since the first page of in the Wrecked series. I've since read every release, plus the MF and the FF , so when I tell you that Goodnight is the most romantic book she's written yet, believe it.

Set in my favorite place on earth, the Texas Hill Country, Goodnight is one of the best books I've read all year. Cowboy Trip made me swoon repeatedly. He and Samuel, who we met near the end of Full Contact (Wrecked: Guardians Book 2), fit together beautifully.

Trip's bi awakening comes organically, beautifully, and oh-so-sensually. Sam the rest-stop rent boy turned cam boi, finds his home with the steady, dependable, big-hearted Trip (in romance jargon, he's a cinnamon roll - a Buc-ee's cinnamon roll, because they're huge, and covered with fluffy cream cheese frosting.)

The romance develops at just the right pace - not so slowly that I wanted to slap them both, but not so quickly as to stretch credibility since, until Sam, Trip doesn't realize he's demisexual. There's only a smidgen of suspense and intrigue involving Sam's family, but it never overshadows the love story. I shed a few tears at the beginning (and still get a bit choked up thinking about the prologue) but Kelly's trademark humor provides more than one hearty laugh.

We also get to meet the staff at Rebel Sky Ranch, who quickly feel like family. And though this picks up at the end of , which I highly recommend along with the rest of her books, it's not necessary to have read any of Kelly's previous work to enjoy this sweet romance.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I’m just a huge Kelly Fox fan at this point! I absolutely adored Goodnight. Trip and Samuel are amazing together. I love a good bi-awakening story and Trip was just perfect. Watching him discover his feelings for Samuel was wonderful and there were so many sweet moments between them. Trip is totally swoon-worthy book-boyfriend material! Kelly sets us up with lots of fun characters for future books, but I have a feeling she’s going to torture us and make us wait until the last book for Wyatt’s story! I smiled my way through this delightful romance.

I think this would be best read after the four Wrecked: Guardians books as there are several cameos and mentions of characters and events from that series. It is my opinion that you could skip the Wrecked series altogether, but I do recommend Scout and the Lavender Girl as a prequel. I did like the Wrecked series, but I didn't love it as much as did the Guardians.

EDIT 8/22: I just finished listening to the audiobook and was reminded all over again why I love this book so much! Trip just makes me swoon!!! Blake Lockheart’s narration is so perfect! I don’t think I’d heard this narrator before and he was really good. I hope he narrates the rest of the series. I gave every book in this series five stars and I’m so excited to re-experience this series on audio.
