I was sent this, unasked for, by the publisher; I wish they'd send me books I might conceivably use in the classroom. Anyway, this is... okay. Perry is pretty slippery in getting to his preferred conclusion, while presenting the book as if he was just handing out facts.

Infused with classical and modern philosophy, Perry has written another insightful dialogue, this time about the nature of dualism and the physical versus non-physical debate of consciousness. While the discussion is profound in several areas, other parts stray away from some of the main questions and arguments of this debate, and this work never reaches the peak of his stronger “A Dialogue on Personal Identity and Immortality.

An introductory discussion of philosophical problems surrounding consciousness, on the model of Perry's . Pretty good--I plan to use it this semester and see how my students fare with it.

An approachable introduction to the arguments against dualism (either substance or property) written in an engaging style. I’ve seen this material before and could guess some of the moves (ie that the zombie argument would be countered by epiphenominalism), but I’m more willing to bite the epiphenominal bullet than these characters. And, like all PoM I’ve read, not enough Pansychism!
