his is a sweet picture book about a special friendship between Fox and Porcupine. In rhyming text we see how life is full of surprises, more sunshine, precious hugs, and laughter when these two are together. It's aimed toward younger elementary grades, but any age would enjoy the loving sentiment. This would make a neat gift for that special someone whether it be a birthday, Valentine's Day, etc.
The artwork in this book was created with acrylic paint and colored pencil. Each page features a new page spread with such variation in background colors.

Oh my goodness! This book is SO sweet! I鈥檝e read quite a few children鈥檚 books this year and this one I thoroughly enjoyed. As an adult I may appreciate the verse more than a child but there is something so satisfying about the rhyming in this book. Not only are the sentiments sweet, but it just feels good to read it :)
Also, the illustrations (which I would say account for 80% of this book in grand scheme of things) are perfect! So well done, adorably cute, interesting, and creative.
All in all, I鈥檇 gift this to anyone with children and will hold on to this book to share with any kids who come to my house. Adorable and sweet!
Thank you to Bloomsbury for gifting me a free copy of this book. The opinions expressed and completely my own!
We were created to live in community with each other and special relationships are so important because life is so much easier when it's approached together with those that we love. This lovely picture book uses warm illustrations and simple, rhyming text to celebrate all of the happy moments that make a great friendship: playing together, working together, and spending time together. This book would make a great gift to share with someone special and it also makes a great way to start a conversation about what makes a relationship work.
This review makes an excellent point: /review/show.... It's up to each of us to find happiness, not rely on a friend or sweetheart to make it happen for us.
Also, it's def. for friends or sweethearts... the relationship described is not that of parent & child.
Just barely two stars, for the choice of characters and some of the illustrations.
At first glance, this is a super cute book! But on my second read through with my daughter, I felt the repetitious "you make me" statement wasn't teaching her to take responsibility for her feelings. I changed it to "I feel happy when..." in future reads. Also, the book has double-negatives, which can be confusing for toddlers, like "nothing that we cannot do".
I think You Make Me Happy by Smriti Prasadam-halls illustrated by Allison Brown is a great book for children. This book challenges the readers to think of things that make you happy. For children, having things that make them happy is a great thing. Even adults who read this book may think of what makes them happy. I really loved the illustrations in the book. I liked that Allison Brown used animals in the story rather than humans just to make the book more fun to read.
This book follows a Fox and Porcupine who are so happy when they are together wonderful childrens book. This book has great rythms and wonderful in showing the children an expection of love and wonderful kindess. Very well written and put out to embrace children about love.
Rhyming story about two animal friends who spend time together. Sweet illustrations and fun adventures. Kids will love it. Lots of fun. Highly recommended for Grades K-2.
This book is a great book to show kids to love. It would be a great book to read to kids who might not get the love at home. Its about a fox and a porcupine making each other happy!
