脡douard Louis is a French writer born October 30, 1992. 脡douard Louis, born Eddy Bellegueule, grew up in Hallencourt (Somme) before entering theater class at the Lyc茅e Madeleine Michelis in Amiens. From 2008 to 2010 he was a delegate of the Amiens Academy to the National Council for High School Life, then studied history at the University of Picardy.
From 2011, he is pursuing sociology studies at the ENS in the rue d'Ulm. In 2013, he obtained a name change and became 脡douard Louis.
The same year, he directed the collective work Pierre Bourdieu. Insubordination as a legacy to the PUF, a work in which Bourdieu's influence on critical thinking and on emancipation policies is analyzed. In March 2014, he announced that he would direct a collection, "Des mots", devoted to transcripts of conferences, interviews and short texts, for this publisher.
In February 2014, at the age of 21, he published En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule, a novel with a strong autobiographical influence. Very commented on in the media, and widely praised for its qualities, the book also gives rise to several controversies, notably on the way in which it depicts his family and his social background.
After the publication of the book, the themes it addresses are worth to Edouard Louis to receive in March 2014 the Pierre Gu茅nin price against homophobia and for equal rights: the press release from the SOS homophobia association notes that 鈥溍塪ouard Louis makes you aware of the impregnation of homophobia in the daily lives of LGBT people.

Of Edouard Louis ya, of. Neredeyse her birinin k枚艧esini k谋v谋rd谋臒谋m 78 sayfal谋k bu kitapla bana 莽ok acayip bir 90 dakika ya艧att谋n. Annie Ernaux'nun "Bir Kad谋n"谋n谋n karde艧i diyebilece臒imiz "Bir Kad谋n谋n Kavgalar谋 ve D枚n眉艧眉mleri"nde annesini anlat谋yor gen莽 Frans谋z yazar.
Bu kadar s谋n谋rs谋z bir yak谋nl谋臒谋n sadece "iyi"den m眉te艧ekkil olmas谋 zaten imkans谋z - 枚fke, k谋skan莽l谋k, adaletsizlik, utan莽 - hepsini bar谋nd谋r谋yor i莽inde ki bence zaten aksi de d眉艧眉n眉lemez. Daha 枚nce bir kez "birbirinin can谋n谋 ac谋tma hakk谋n谋 me艧rula艧t谋ran ili艧ki" diye tan谋mlam谋艧t谋m, bu kitap bunu hat谋rlatt谋 bana. 脰fke kat谋艧谋ks谋z olmad谋臒谋, aralar谋nda bir sevgi ve 艧efkat de oldu臒u i莽in daha da zorla艧an bir ili艧ki.
艦u mesela: "Onu evde mutsuz g枚rmeye o kadar al谋艧m谋艧t谋m ki y眉z眉ndeki mutluluk bana derhal if艧a edilmesi gereken bir sahtekarl谋k, bir ay谋p, bir yalan gibi g枚r眉n眉yordu." Ah.
Ve bu hikaye ayn谋 zamanda da bir kad谋n谋n ge莽 gelen 枚zg眉rle艧mesinin hikayesi, o nedenle ayr谋ca g眉zel.
Louis'in kalan t眉m kitaplar谋n谋 hemen okumamak i莽in kendimi tutuyorum a莽谋k莽as谋.
/ I'm rather intrigued by Louis' literary project that combines autobiography with sociological class analysis, and his latest effort shows that he has moved towards a far more nuanced direction than his mentor Eribon, whose can be rightfully accused of making determinist claims. Louis himself started out with the fascinating, but similarly reductive that tells the story of him growing up in a poor family with little education in a deprived environment, and how he, the gay son, made a new life for himself in Paris, the golden boy of new French sociology (hence: Eribon). , his next effort, was a very, very brave and well-told book about how he survived a rape; then he returned to the topic of his roots with the placatively titled . And after this short recap, ladies and gents, we've arrived at: .
Unsurprisingly, this is the story of his mother, a woman who fell pregnant early and emancipated herself from two toxic husbands (the second one being Louis' alcoholic father). The author, now older, seems to have gained the distance necessary to dissect his mother's life choices, some of which have affected him negatively. He tries to empathize with the female experience, especially that of a woman who has lived in poverty and with very limited choices (or as he would probably put it: As part of the Lumpenproletariat). When he was younger, he wished for another mother, he was ashamed of his family; now, he is proud of her metamorphosis: The book details how this change of mind occurred, so it's also a book about himself, about being a son, about aiming to live a dignified life.
The text reads like a monologue, and it's rendered in touching, short chapters (the whole book is rather short): I'm still grappling with the fact that both Eribon and Louis see themselves as socialists, but write about fleeing their classes - IMHO, the aim should be to allow all people to live dignified lives, no matter whether they are sociology professors or factory workers. Indeed, it shouldn't be necessary for a factory worker to become a sociology professor so he can have stability and dignity. To me, this is the theoretical crux of this new French sociological movement.
But my ramblings aside, Louis remains an ambitious, fascinating writer that should be read in the context of French, if not Western European politics as a whole. Class and habitus are still real, and he is one of the loudest voices illustrating the effects.

Moving from known terrain Louis goes on to show a genuinely uplifting and loving portrait of his mother, incorporating the potential of change, despite of all (economic and classist) odds
Chapter one of this book is basically a rehash of ; revisits the issues of class, social isolation, claustrophobically being tied to one another due to economic circumstances. What is interesting, and better works here than in , about the author his father, is how he draws his parents as being separate, real and flawed persons with own (unsuccessful) dreams. Still the prism of social determinism is certainly favoured by Louis, with grand statements on how people are destroyed by policies of the government or capitalism at large, but here the mother actually manages to change her circumstances.
The gap between son and mother due to a transition of social class is also a point I think the author needs to be lauded for. Here he shows the petty cruelty of children in an unrelenting manner.
Overall the resolution and the power to transform oneself is endearing and uplifting, but I do strongly feel this author should branch out further instead of continuing to mine his own upbringing. A capable enough writer, and a book that shows the most mellowness and perspective of the three I've read of Louis, so a solid four stars for this short read.
Bunu yaparken de t谋pk谋 di臒er kitaplar谋nda oldu臒u gibi i艧in i莽ine s谋n谋f 莽at谋艧mas谋n谋 ve eril 艧iddeti kat谋yor. Yazar谋n annesiyle kurdu臒u ili艧kinin farkl谋 a艧amalar谋n谋 (s谋臒谋nma/utanma/kucaklama) anlatmas谋n谋 莽ok sevdim. Yine 莽ok etkileyici, yine 莽ok ba艧ar谋l谋.

Ksi膮偶ka trudna w ocenie, bo kr贸tka i bardzo osobista.
Louis is a really special writer who continues to expand his personal project with this, a moving and beautiful tribute to his mother. It is deeply affecting and uplifting. I'll follow his writing wherever he wants to go with it.
I loved the only other book by that I've read (), so was very excited to have my request approved for his latest book.
Like The End of Eddy, this book draws on the author's own life, this time focusing on his mother and his relationship with her (he has another book, , which I'm now super keen to check out!). It's a touching portrayal of a man looking back as an adult on his mother and her experiences and re-framing his views of her. The book is written in very short, snappy chapters, and as a result I found it really hard to put down.
Recommended!

En oikein tied盲, mit盲 mielt盲 olisin Louisista.
