I’ve been reincarnated into the world of an otome game, and What? My mom did, too? Even my dad and my older brother?
Meet Amy, the daughter of the Earl of Northland. Her entire family has been reincarnated as the aristocratic Northland family. In an attempt to amicably remove herself as a candidate for the Third Prince’s fiancée (which would certainly cement her position as the game’s villainess), Amy has taken drastic measures—eating tons of food and just enjoying life (at her mother’s suggestion).
With this reincarnation, Amy has been given a precious second chance at life, and this time, nothing—not even an otome game—is going to stop her from fulfilling her dream Amy wants a cat!
3.5 rounded up. The excessive number of "interludes" - short chapters that really could have been folded into the main story - bring it down a bit, but I love the unconventional take on both the isekai and villainess tropes. Amy's entire family is reborn in the world of an otome game she downloaded but never bothered to play, and while her brother is living his isekai adventurer dream, her parents are just happy that they've all got a second chance - and not about to let fantasy world conventions deprive their daughter of the life she should have had before. So if she'd rather eat till she's plump and become a magical veterinarian? More power to her.
What can I say? This is an isekai I can really get behind.
Amy is another figure in the huge cadre of young Japanese women who have died and been reincarnated into a "real life" version of an otome* game as the story's villainess. (Does Japan have any teenaged girls left anymore?) This time around, her whole family has also been reincarnated and are together in the same familial roles, and her memories return when she is ten years old.
* A story-based "choose your own adventure" video game where the goal is for the FL to romance your favorite among a group of attractive young men.
Since Amy, in her previous life, had the game downloaded on her phone but never bothered to explore it past its opening screen, she really has no idea what Amy's story might have been like aside from the usual tropes. To forestall the Prince character from being attracted to her, and later repudiating her for the game's heroine--as such games usually go--she decides to overeat and gain weight to (theoretically) be less attractive, nip that romance in the bud, and live her life as she wants: doting on her cat and any other animal she comes across.
This is a fun one, very sweet and fluffy. One thing that's kind of cool about it is that Amy is better able to use magic in this world because of the extra pounds she's carrying around, since they also supply her with magical energy. Also, Prince Edward and the other male characters are attracted to her anyway. And it turns out that Edward loves animals, too. There have been a couple of sightings of Maria, the game's heroine, but she isn't a huge factor in the story compared with other characters: Edward, his friend Alexander, Amy's family, and her friends Letizia and Rosalind, fellow students at the magical academy.
There are tiny hints of melancholy, of something mildly more bristly than fluff, here and there. Amy's previous incarnation died before reaching an appropriate age to be married? What happened to her? Did her whole family die together? But they aren't prevalent at all, and the story's near-entirely concerned with loving animals and showing cozy corners of the world. (The world itself is light novel-as-usual: magic enabling a near-modern level of convenience and physical health, and without any unpleasant political upheaval or pollution. Arabesque designs, the month of August, and magazines all make appearances in our fantasy world, to give you an idea of the amount of thought put into the setting.)
The structure of the story's kind of all over the place, pretty obviously created on the fly and serially, and not as concerned with getting anywhere as much it is with the reader vicariously attending tea parties and petting cute kitty-cats. A number of inessential "intermissions" between chapters add to a general idea that we're just here to have a nice time. And I did! though not quite as much as I did with Kobato's standalone .
I am a sucker for cat stories, especially when they're laid back slice of life stories like this one.
It's pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. A girl reincarnates as a villainess in an otome game and would rather have a cat than participate in the otome-game romance stories.
What makes this one different from other entries in the genre I've read is that a) this girl hasn't played the game she got portaled into (so she isn't trying to avoid any fate specifically, just the stereotypical stuff she knows from novels) and b) her entire family in this world is her family from her previous life.
This is an isekai for people who like laid-back villainness stories, especially if you're a cat person.
Very enjoyable, idyllic in a sense, and refreshing to read! More slice-of-life-ish than the traditional villainess isekai, but it's nice to have something not heavily plot-driven (so far) once in a while.
All the characters are super likeable imho. I was genuinely pleased to see the relationship between the two suitor characters - they're friends first, and they're not annoying brats toward each other or Amy. Like I said, refreshing!
Speaking of Amy, I know it's discussed here and there in-story and loosely played with, but I appreciate that Amy is chubby and that it's beneficial to her. It might change in future books, but for now, it's neat.
Finally, the amount of cute animals here is as I was promised!! The biggest draw of all, it's much appreciated.
I love the supportive family environment for the MC. The body positivity is also a very welcome change. Hopefully the next book will be filled with more cat love!

Rounded up because when it gets things going, it's a lot of fun.
Despite the premise and the main character's love for cats and animals, somehow I feel like the animals aren't that prominent. This is mainly romance, and the biggest portion of the story is really the romance and everything building up to it. The main character, Amy, is reincarnated into an otome game along with her entire family. The thing is, she's not a fan of otome games so she barely played it and mostly just remembered the illustration on the title screen. She insists that she just wants to live with her beloved cat, Tigger, instead of becoming the prince's fiancée, but the story is obviously heading down that path. Tigger and the other animals do get quite a lot of scenes, but they're not very impactful when compared to the lives of Amy, her family and friends, and the guys who are so obviously interested in her.
In that sense, I feel a bit deceived.
That being said, it's not like this is a bad story or anything. It's actually pretty cute. Amy is a rare chubby main character, and her weight actually works in her favor. It makes her magical power stronger. She's 10 at the start of the book, and 14 at the end. That may make it feel like the story is progressing fast, but it's actually because of time skips. The pace itself is rather slow without them, which makes it feel more like a slow life story instead. Amy is supposed to be a villainess and we also get a glimpse of the heroine, but that's about it. Just a glimpse. Plus, Amy doesn't even know what actually happens in the otome game because she barely played it. To be honest, I feel like the story wanted to accomplish a lot and ended up doing a mediocre job at all aspects. The otome game concept is vague, and there isn't enough animal cuteness. In the end, the most prominently featured aspect is the romance.
In the first volume, we are introduced to four out of six love interests in the otome game. Amy hasn't met the other two, so we might meet them in the next volume. I'm curious as of where the story will be heading next since the slow pace makes it seem like there's barely any progress, but at the same time, I'm also wishing to see more scenes with the animals. While the story is fun enough in a peaceful way, I can't help but hope it'd stay true to the title.
I have mixed feelings about this one. The basic plot is that a girl, Amy, is reincarnated into a fantasy world that seems to be based on an otome (story-based romance) game she used to play. She loves animals, cats in particular, and is determined never to marry and just to have animals around her. This is a plot that I can get behind.
As I delved into it, she was a high schooler in her previous life and has been reincarnated into this world as a ten-year-old. Within the first chapter, she learns that she is to be a candidate to become the prince's fiancée. I know that, historically, royals and aristocrats have arranged engagements between children who married as teenagers or adults. Even so, it was difficult reading about a ten-year-old having to deal with this prospect.
As a way to avoid an engagement, Amy's mother suggests that she should put on weight to make herself unattractive to the prince so that he won't choose her. I thought that was a terrible thing to say, especially to a child. Amy does as her mother suggests, but soon finds that the prince doesn't care what she looks like. He likes her because of her love of animals and because she doesn't care about anyone's rank or pedigree. She treats everyone kindly. I appreciate this about the prince and I can see where the prompting for Amy to gain weight was a device to achieve this. I just think it could have been handled in a way that didn't imply that overweight people can't be attractive or loved.
It took me quite a while to read it as it was a little hard to follow at times. There are many flashbacks, some in the form of daydreams but some just a chapter randomly talking about something that happened before. There are also jumps forward. So, we go back and forth between Amy being ten and being fourteen with no warning. There are also other character points of view thrown in and it can sometimes take a couple of paragraphs to figure out whose point of view it is.
All of that being said, I do want to read the second volume. I'm intrigued enough that I want to see where the rest of this story goes, especially as we are introduced to new characters toward the end.
This is a good example of a story that follows the bandwagon of current, popular tropes, meshes them all together, and somehow works. This one is mainly a mix of "family reincarnates isekai", "I don't want to be a villainess", "healing magic", and "furry love" themes. Although it follows stereotypes, the story overall does bring something new to the table and is worth reading.
I really like the main female character. Her personality and the images of her cuddling with her giant cat are really healing. Also, despite the harem tag, there really isn't much of a reverse-harem-type relationship going on. The male lead is clear and uncomplicated and there are no strange love tangles (so far).
The one aspect of this novel that really bothered me was the side stories/ intermissions whatever they're called. They really break the flow of the main plot and some of them could really have been incorporated into the main story. I hope this is fixed in the next volume.
This author just... jumps all the hopes of the story to get into the plot points and climax of their work. You would think that having the entire family reincarnated would change something of the setting, the characterization and/or the flow, but no. Its the cliche of the cliche, as any of the other hundreds of "I'm the villain but I'm nice and fuck the MC, I'm going to get lazy" otome stories in the market.
As in literally, the story believes that you had read hundreds like this one, that it decided to not even describe the world its put or the beats of the setting, because its copy paste of the rest.
Wow. This really broke my belief that audiobooks needed to be good to justify the spending of having a narrator and studio. Silly me.
OMMFG I'm in love with this book!! Our girl is absolutely adorable and Tigger.... AAAAAHHHHH can't get enough of them. I cannot wait for the next book because I need more, and I cannot wait for her to up her power's and gain more lovely animals. I'm hoping she comes across dog's next, and maybe she doesn't stop at animals, but what if monster's are drawn to her too. Therefore she will become the queen of the animal/beast kingdom!! 👑😈😍😘💜💙💚💛😘😍😈👑. Love Ed and Alec as her love Interests, is she going to have a reverse harem because I am all for that. The more love she has, the more she will be protected!!
This is a refreshing take on the villainess reincarnation story. First off, not only is the protagonist aware that she's in an otome game (that she hasn't really played), she also familiar with the tropes of a villainess reincarnation story. Second, her whole family reincarnated with her. Whole family. Third and most important: Amy cannot get out of her own way. Everything she does backfires. I can't recall having seen a character take this many self inflicted L's in my life. Deffo one of the top in this subgenre.
Originally just down loaded the sample, but got so catch up In the story I had to buy it. Love how the story centers on mostly the main girl, but also her family. And that they all were reunited together so they can help her with some of the worries she faces. Was a little confused at first with some timeline jumps in chapters , but it still has me in the story world so work out keeping me captivated.
There's nothing really wrong with the story, cute, but personally I can't get behind it all. This might be in part with how much it reminds me of bad fanfiction. Too fast paced for my tastes. Eh, it's just a difference in beliefs I think. From all of the isekais that I've read about a villainess this seemed unique, but it didn't really 'wow' me like some of the other isekais that I've read. Not bad, but nothing spectacular to write about. I don't think that I'll be finishing it.
I love how the whole family isekaied and found happiness. What really gives me joy is the mother's insistence that this is real life and bad endings are not predetermined story routes. Amy is so cute and deserves to be fulfilled in her new chance at living out her dreams of fluffy friends.
Entertaining! First time reading a light novel. I like the descriptions of cat behavior thrown into the book, and the healthy relationships between characters. Also enjoyed how her chubbyness is a part of the character, not the entirety of it, and characters close to her acknowledge it, as a part of her, who they love. Cute read
This book was very interesting, well, it still contains a lot of tropes from Japanese light novels, it expands on them and makes them more original. The whole family reincarnated all together. A whole New World. I love their positive spin and attitude. Can’t wait to read the next one.
I was smiling and laughing through most of this. This is a slow paced get to know your characters story. I covers 4 years with a little back story of the parents too. I truly enjoy isekai stories and have enjoyed the 'villianess' trope alot recently. Not that Amy is much of one, super sweet. Looking forward to book 2 which is already out.
What an adorable read! Pets as family & a villainess who decides to write her own ending. How perfect! I really like Any as a character. She's meaningful without overthinking difficult matters (as a character she doesn't ruminate on her concerns endlessly) while still tackling the matter in a meaningful and perfect way.
I found the story cute and refreshing. Love that the Amy was not the only person from her family to be reincarnated. Can't wait to continue the story and follow Amy and her future endeavors.
Fairly standard transmigration into an otome game story, but so warm-hearted and full of cute animals that it rises above the tropes and is really enjoyable.
