I’ve watched the mobster from afar for years.

But he found out he’s been hacked–and now he’s coming for me.

This city is my home, and my best entertainment. Who needs TV when I’ve got this freakshow at my fingertips?

I like to know everything–all the schemes, the threats, the betrayals. Usually, I kick back and watch it unfold with popcorn, but when it’s him in danger, I can’t resist.

I send a warning. My weird little crush demands it. And though it saves the mobster well, he’s not exactly grateful.

He sends his own warning. He’s going to find me, and then he’ll kill me.

Honestly.

Is it really so hard to say thank you?

Hacker is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a disgruntled mobster and the hacker who knows all his business.

Short but compelling.

I really liked the dynamic of this one. The whole premise of our heroine having a bit of a crush on this unsuspecting man and then having him be totally smitten in return. Really cute.

I also loved the awkwardness of the heroine and her lack of social skills. It was so cool to read a scene where you’re in the characters head so you know they have positive feelings but the person who is with them in the scene and is trying to read the actions and reactions of the other is utterly confused. I’ve read plenty of those kind of scenes but none that felt so genuine.

For a short novella, this was great. Tbh I would have loved a full length novel based on this premise.

A female hacker? Who spies and watches the hero??? Say less- I’m in!

Frankie (22) has been watching mobster Luca (30s) and finds out his cousin’s gonna un alive him. So what does she do? Well, she hacks into his phones (all of them) and warns him that he’s going to be k!ll€d of course 🤷🏻‍♀, duh 💁🏻‍♀.

Except Luca isn’t exactly happy he’s being watched (even though she mostly watches him cook and do household things). She intrigues him; not only did she save his life, but she manages to make him smile with the way she is, and well, with her spying as well 😅.

This is a fast read. I couldn’t stop reading it. It’s not too spicy but there’s delicious tension (could’ve been more tension-filled). I mean, she DOES watch him m0l€st himself 🥵 (with permission) and she does the same to herself 😉. Mutual satisfaction 💁🏻‍♀. Not sure the losing her v scene is possible since she’s clearly a v and it was in the shower, but hey, it was 🔥💦.

And, we get a cute epilogue that helped tie loose ends. I love that Luca is the cook in the family and has no qualms with taking care of the household while momma (aka Frankie) works 💅.

I wish it was longer and that we had more tension; considering SHE’S the hacker and stalker, i would’ve liked there to be some nice “I figured it was you; you’re MINE now from Luca, but hey, I’ll take it ❤️

Overall, I really enjoyed it

Better than the first one in the Sweet Little Sinners series. Felt like the story flowed better and the characters were more interesting. Frankie is a hacker who's been spying on the mafia for quite some time, gathering information and secrets. By doing so, she took an interest in one of the mobsters, a handsome but grumpy guy, Luca, who she's been stalking since then. One day, she finds out that there are people who'll attempt to murder him and she decides to warn him in her hacker fashion, making her presence known to Luca.

I really liked Frankie. She was one of those heroines who are socially awkward, have some self-esteem issues in a sort of endearing way. She was more comfortable online and felt anxious meeting Luca in person. Her worries were realistic, she didn't want to disappoint by the way she looked, didn't really know how to behave around people. She was a nerdy and serious young woman who had a love for dirty novels, only ate ramen noodles and lived in an apartment full of plants to keep her company. I liked that this time, the heroine was the stalker. She was weird but I liked her.

I’m no prize. Some days I can barely look people in the eye, and my houseplants get more vitamins than I do. I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist from spending too many hours on the computer, and I wear baggy clothes so the seams won’t bother me.-Frankie

As for Luca, he was a celibate man who worked for the mafia. His life was in danger but he kept his cool, being very confident in who wanted him dead and that he could easily take them out when the time came. He was grumpy and bossy. He took an interest in Frankie, finding her odd but charming in her own way. Even without personally knowing her or having seen her, he felt jealous when after she feared for her life, she stayed hidden at her friend's place. If at first he was annoyed that she'd been spying on him, he quickly grew to love the feeling of being watched by Frankie.

I’m clearly not the only person she’s hacked. Fuck, why does that make me so jealous? Does she watch other men the way she watches me?-Luca

I think they had a good chemistry, and I really liked the use of the phone and camera to develop their relationship. For most of the novella, they weren't even in the same place. After Frankie warned Luca of the imminence of his murder, she fled her apartment and hid at her friend's place. Luca, who'd searched everything he could about the hacker who'd saved him, found where she lived and stayed at her place while he let things in the mafia calm down. They only communicated with their phone, and Frankie could see him with the camera she had in her home. I just really liked their interactions this way.

In a way I feel like anyone could relate to Frankie, to the feeling of anxiety at meeting in person someone you've been talking to online and the fear of disappointing their expectations. Of course, things were a little bit exaggerated but still enjoyable.

Would I recommend this novella? Not perfect but it was nice. The characters were appealing in their flaws and quirks. It was cute but there was also a little dark side to the story because of some of the things the hero had to do. It wasn't bloody or gory but some elements might disturb some readers.

Frankie has been watching Luca though cameras she's alittle obessed with him but she won't do anything else since she's a hacker but when she digs deep she finds out someone in Luca inner circle wants him dead so she warns him. By setting off all his tech showing a warning thinking he would be happy to be warned nope he's mad at being spyed on. Running is what she does and Luca boy he has mixed feelings at first he wants to know who is Frankie and when he gets to know her more he wants her now he has to show her come back. But once they meet in real life things get alittle messy that has them taking a step back for that moment.

Glad they got over that.

A Roll of the Dice

A highly enjoyable, cutely quirky quick and fun read! Frankie is in way over her head as the object of her obsession, Luca, is in danger. They are most definitely opposites attracting. I like the push-pull that they go through as they navigate this new situation.

Started off with a good hook and engaging, quick characters, but lost its steam by the end. FMC is a hacker, although it’s never quite established who/what organization her hacking skills serve, and the MMC is a mobster the FMC is currently watching. Intently. A little obsessively. And it’s all done in secret, of course, since she’s hacking him.

And it’s because she’s hacking him she knows there’s a hit out for him, and warns him.

The tension between the MCs was delicious, especially their phone banter, but the hard earned buildup didn’t quite fully pan out by the end. Average HEA, average steam, definitely tamer than other Cassie Mint I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot).

But this is the book that completed my 2023 GR challenge, so hurray and thank you Cassie Mint!❤️

I'm really loving the Sweet Little Sinners series. They're fun, little novellas that have romance, spice, and intrigue. Hacker follows a hacker who has been watching a mobster through webcams and his security system. She then finds out that there is going to be an assassination attempt on him so she finally reveals herself and warns him about it.

One thing I love about this series A LOT is the heroes are sooooo soft towards the main characters. They look so imposing and hard to crack but they are literal goo when they talk to the heroines lmao. This scary mobster, as soon as he finds out about Frankie, wants to be with her and is desperate to call her and know about her. He craves her voice, her company, so BAD. I'm a goner for these types of heroes.

I'm ready to read the next one! I'll continue to read more Cassie Mint books for sure.

“Hacker is the story of Frankie and Luca.

Our heroine is hacked extraordinaire, who finds herself fascinated with a monster. Spying on him without his knowledge, she soon unearths a plan to kill him- and against her better judgment warns him. This brings his focus on her and they engage in a cat and mouse game that ends in a sweet HEA.

I loved the banter and especially her home and houseplant obsession. There was a moment of angst and their interactions were sweet.

Enjoyed it

Oh Cassie Mint, how I’ve missed you. How this author makes me feel so much for her characters in so few pages is beyond me.

I was absolutely OBSESSED with Luca and Frankie’s dynamic from page 1. A mafia hero and a neurodivergent hacker heroine who saves his life?? Sold. I related to Frankie SO much and Luca was 🥵🥵🥵 There’s also a 🔥🔥🔥 phone sex scene in case you needed anymore incentive to read this

The starting was good, the fmc is a hacker and she's like- in love with the mmc who's a mobster and hacks him. While she's at it, she finds out he's going to get killed so she's finding a way to tell him without risking her life. Their phone banter was actually good but the book lost its steam halfway, idk if its only my thinking.

Anyways it'll help me complete my gr challenge
Yay so be it.

I really, really enjoyed this novella. The concept of a hacker falling for a mafia member she saves from a hit drew me in. And it was well done!

The description is accurate about the novella being instalove. Still, I think the author did a good job of drawing out the romance so that it's not totally instant or rushed, which I appreciated. It may be fast but there's still time for the romance to build up.

I also loved how funny it got at times (The pig farm scene! The plants!) The socially awkward and shy Frankie and the sinister but soft Luca made for a great pairing.

The epilogue seemed very abrupt as it skips forward in time from the end of the book. I liked seeing what Frankie and Luca were up to, but I thought a little more was needed between the end of the book and the epilogue.

This is a steamy novella. The MMC is a member of the mafia and there are mentions of violence that fit that but it isn't explicit.

This was such a cute instalove story and a breezy read. I love an obsessed heroine. What I also love is a possessive, turned-obsessed mmc. This book had both.

The couple was interesting enough to have a book of its own. I can’t help but feel that the length of the story didn’t do them justice. Considering that the fmc was an awkward, genius hacker, I would’ve loved to see her show her badass self. She did have the potential for it.

Did I like it? Yes. It was cute and fast.
Would I read it again? I am not sure.

This was so good, phenomenal even. But was it satisfying? Absolutely fucking not. I loved both Luca and Frankie, and the setup of this novella was dare I say perfect, but it just felt like a setup.

Please I am begging you Cassie Mint make this full length! I can see this being an all time favorite.

Okay, this book had a lot more OTT dark humor than I was expecting 🤣! I had to do a double take on some of the things that happened. It has this author's trademark sugary sweet romance, but then it would suddenly throw out stuff that's like from Silence of the Lambs or something.

This is the story of Frankie and Luca. Frankie was a side character from "Thief" and best friend of the heroine from that book. Frankie is an expert hacker who has been stalking and watching mafia man Luca in her free time. Luca has unknowingly become Frankie's favorite live streamer, and she watches him as he goes about his daily life cooking and living the mafia life.

Frankie's silent stalking comes to an end when she finds out that Luca is scheduled to be murdered by traitors in the mafia. She eventually decides that the best way to warn him is by adding "get killed" to his Google calendar and phone alerts a few minutes before it's slated to happen. Luca gets the warning and kills the assassin, but is pissed that someone hacked into his stuff and was being so creepy about it. Of course, his determination to kill this creep is thrown out the window after getting on the phone with Frankie. He's got a thing for her voice, and they start calling each other with some good old fashion phone courtship.

Frankie, the heroine:

Frankie was basically Gremlin D.Va personified. She's an awkward, antisocial hacker who has bird's nest hair and wears baggy sweatpants, eating instant ramen and pop tarts. Girl was a real mood 💅. I loved Frankie, she was funny and weird, but not completely identical to other heroines from this author. She had her own different quirks and her own flaws. She's also one heroine where it makes a lot of sense why she's a virgin 😂. Holed up in her apartment never going out, hyper focused on watching the Luca Cooking Show livestream. This was a rare case of the heroine being the crazy stalker, but she didn't feel gross (especially since she was just passively watching him, and Luca was the one acting pervy towards her when he found out she was watching 😳). I liked her a lot!

Luca, the hero:
Luca was a hot psycho 🔥. Definitely a lot more sinister compared to the usual heroes from this author. It's mentioned that he doesn't particularly like to commit gory violence, but it's honestly jarring to hear some of the stuff he ended up doing casually 😂. I laughed so hard when this guy legit phoned Frankie and was trying to make up with her and romance her while at a pig farm watching his cousin's body get consumed by the pigs 💀. This dude really went the Mason Verger route from Hannibal. And they really were giggling and flirting like teenagers in this macabre setting. I was dying 🤣. The fact that Luca just showed up to some poor farmer's place to dispose of a body using his pigs is also just gold.

The sex scenes were fire. I loved that the author fit voyeurism and phone sex into this to match the hacking and stalking setting. The part where Luca puts on a show for Frankie knowing she was watching him was hot 🥵.

Honorable mentions:
* The heroine's charming reference to the hero's phallus:
The broad head of his cock brushes at my stomach. Too curious to think twice, I reach down and tuck it between my legs, squeezing his hard shaft between my thighs. I like how it feels down there. Like sitting on a sexy broomstick
A sexy broomstick, I can't even 😂.
* The heroine liking that Luca called her at a pig farm while disposing of a body. Girl, you ok over there? 👀
* The heroine asking the hero to laugh while thrusting into her because it "feels good."
His chuckle vibrates through my whole body, and god, that feels good. I reach back and slap at his hip. “Okay, more. More. And laugh again.
“I can’t laugh on command, Frankie, Luca says, though he’s chuckling as he says it. Chuckling and thrusting harder against me

🤣 I'm imagining the guy forcing out maniacal joker laughs while he does her.

Safety:
* Heroine a virgin, never been kissed or in a relationship.
* Hero not a virgin, but hasn't been with any other woman for a long time. Other mafia members joked that he lived like a monk.
* No OM or OW drama, no cheating.
* No condoms or birth control
* Apparently an age gap, since the hero comments that the heroine being 21 was too young for him.
* HEA with epilogue and baby

I needed more Frankie and Luca!

Seriously though, I stopped reading one book to read this one and I'm not sorry because this was a great fast paced one shot read with cute characters, smexy times, humor and a little side plot with assassins and family drama to liven things up :)

Frankie is our introverted, socially awkward hacker princess. She's been watching mobster, Luca for a while now and at first it's harmless stalking and low key crushing on him. But when she stumbles upon a plan to take him out, she breaks all her rules to warn Luca before it's too late.

Only Luca isn't grateful enough that Frankie gave him a heads up to his own assassination attempt (brilliantly executed!) because she still very much violated his privacy.

What starts off as an attempt to find his little hacker and make good on his threat to snuff her out, Luca instead falls for her, sight unseen.

I loved their interactions and even though their first face to face meeting ended in disaster, these two were so electric that it was small blip in an otherwise very entertaining read.

This is the type of story I wish was made into a full, pages bursting, thick spine meaty book so I can really sink into the story and marinate in feelings, actions and characters who are fun and exciting, sweet and endearing. Needless to say, I felt I had to say good-bye too soon to this duo. Will definitely be reading again soon!
