Hareta is awesome!!! He's a kid who was raised by pokemon as a kid who now embarks on a journey. He starts with Piplup and after some getting used to, they become best friends. Along with him is the Professor Rowan's assistant, Mitsumi. Hareta's goal is to find the legend Dialga. Hareta meets Team Galactic in Jubilife City, they take him to the mines in Orebough City where he is rescued by gym leader Roark. Hareta and Roark then have a gym battle. (Note: many methods in this story do not work in the game.) Hareta gets Pilplup stuck in a mound of dirt and Piplup uses Bide to burst out, resulting in a crazy awesome sky peck, defeating Roark's Cranidos. Hareta's first badge is also almost eaten by him. In Florama Town, Hareta meets Jun, who will become his rival. They have a battle. Hareta throws Piplup out over a lake and Jun's Staravia saves him, followed by his Turtwig defeating the Magikark that was chasing Piplup. Jun urges Hareta to get a new pokemon so Hareta catches a Shinx. When they're about to battle again, Team Galactic invades the Power Plant. Hareta and Jun fight Commander Mars where Hareta uses Shinx and Piplup amazingly well. Maybe it's his ability to befriend any pokemon as soon as he meets them. Jun leaves and says that Hareta beeter be strong when they meet again. In the forest before the second gym, Hareta catches a Misdreavus and meets Gardenia, the second gym leader. After Piplup convinces her by force, Gardenia agrees to have a battle. Shinx takes out Cherubi and Turtwig but then realizes they've set traps. Shinx gets stuck in a grass knot, and Roserade defeats him. Misdreavus uses Spite but it soon defeated. It's up to Piplup. Unfortunately, Cherubi left a leech seed effect. After bad looks for Piplup, Hareta lets Piplup get hit by Magical Leaf. The vines that were leeching him disappear. Piplup goes for an Airborne Peck and thanks to Misdreavus's Spite, Magical Leaf works no more. Piplup wins and Hareta gets his next badge. Gardenia then shows Hareta a clue about Dialga in her city. The final chapter is rather simple. Hareta finds a Munchlax, a collected, maniac, physic, and Team Galactic want it. Hareta helps protect Munchlax from Team Galactic. Afterwards, Munchlax disappears (Much to sadness of the other three) but Hareta's journey continues. Overall, Hareta is cool, smooth, and hilarious.

As a massive fan of the Sinnoh region in the Pok¨¦mon universe, diving into Pok¨¦mon: Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Vol. 1 by Shigekatsu Ihara was like stepping into a time machine back to my childhood. Manga isn¡¯t necessarily my go-to, but it hit close to home. The art work was breathtaking and easy to follow.

Main character Hareta is a spirited protagonist with a unique characteristic of Pok¨¨mon communication. This adds a refreshing layer to the narrative and sets him apart from other trainers in Pok¨¨mon. Even if I found that him being left to grow up in a forest was odd¡ however I must keep in mind it is targeted towards kids. Mitsumi is a character that balances Hareta very well. Her serious and caring demeanour fits in very nicely alongside Hareta¡¯s hectic nature. It adds a sense of stability to all the chaos. I also want to mention B-2, the Galactic grunt. He was hilarious, and while his recurring jiggling behind feels a bit immature, it consistently made me chuckle.

The novel does a great job with introducing the universe, characters, and developing it all. However the story itself does feel a bit lacklustre, largely due to pacing. It all begins so quickly and there¡¯s lots of battles. Too many battles, and too quickly I found. Sometimes they felt aimless and a bit more depth could have been beneficial. It just felt like a formula that Ihara implemented to make the books quicker.

I read this book around 2017.

And this does not disappoint.

This does not contribute to the main storyline but you can view it as a ¡°alternate spinoff.¡±

Which means that it¡¯s another adventure based in the same universe in another time but with a different cast of characters who have no connections to the main story line.

Hareta is our wild and crazy protagonist of the story.

He has no idea of the modern life, having grown up on the wild side of town.

And I don¡¯t blame him.

He is eventually taken back to civilization and gets to be a trainer.

He is given a Piplup. He gets along with this Pok¨¦mon just fine.

Along with him,is his grandfathers assistant who also keeps a eye on him.

He manages to win a few tying battles along the way and in less then one book he already has caught two more Pok¨¦mon.

You won¡¯t get any explanation on why or how he caught it.

That¡¯s just how the book goes.

In the end,he goes off on a new adventure catch more Pok¨¦mon.

That¡¯s how the first book goes. There are eight volumes total in this series. Why they didn¡¯t do ten I don¡¯t know.

Do I recommend this book? Yes,Pok¨¦mon is my favorite and Hareta is such a good Pok¨¦mon trainer...and protagonist.

Having played the games and watched the anime, reading a Pok¨¦mon manga is a new experience as a long fan of the franchise. I never knew there are other Pok¨¦mon manga series outside Pok¨¦mon Adventures. until I stumbled upon this copy in a thrift shop run.

Here we have Hareta, a boy who grew up with Pok¨¦mon all his life. With the desire to meet the legendary Dialga, Hareta embarks Sinnoh as a Pok¨¦mon trainer alongside Mitsumi, slowly growing out his wild bubble. The volume covered up his first two gym badges in the span of 5 chapters.

Hareta, being outside the typical trainer profile makes a unique entry for the series. Slowly, but surely, his character development as a trainer is present. Though there's a running gag where he sends out his Piplup in the most mundane manner, hilarious every time. Even their adaption for the character Barry, in the form of Jun, seemed to fit as a rival but not the type who's in a hurry.

That all said, it's a fresh and wholesome read.

This was a cycling read last night. I really enjoyed it for what it was: a Pokemon adventure. This one chronicles a new trainer who is super in-tune with Pokemon by his nature and is tasked with a mission to find a rare time-controlling Pokemon. Even though he is a complete newbie, he still manages to befriend a Piplup and hold his own in Pokemon battles. Team Galatica is on the loose though and is trying to cause chaos. Read on to find out more!

Used to life in the wild, Hareta is finally given the chance to become a Pokemon trainer and begin his journey - and maybe meet the legendary Pokemon Dialga before an evil organization can get their hands on it! Ihara begins an exciting and humorous series sure to please Pokemon fans. The time to catch them all has begun!

I don¡¯t remember how I came into possession of this book but it¡¯s been on my shelves for at least a decade so I decided to read it just for fun but also in the vain attempt to cope with the lack of a Sinnoh remake announcement.

This was my first Pok¨¦mon manga! My student got me six of this series for Christmas this year so I had to finally get started. It was cute, nostalgic, and an entertaining beginning to the story line I look forward to finishing!

Hareta, the protagonist of this series, had to be inspired by Son Goku of Dragon Ball Z. He adds humor to the story and my 4-star rating is probably too low.

Having read the Pok¨¦mon Adventures manga, I have to be biased and say that I can't give this one more than 3 stars. It's by no means a bad manga, but I think Adventures is just superior.
That said, this is still a humorous, fun Pok¨¦mon manga that sticks to a more light, fun tone than Adventures does. I think it's a fine read for Pok¨¦mon fans, though I think it leans towards the younger ones.

Japanese Manga. Hareta is a boy w/the ability to really bond w/Pokemon, weird creatures w/strange powers, and goes off in search of the legendary time controlling Pokemon Dialga. Along the way he must battle various gym (area/province) leaders and capture their Pokemon and fight off the evil Team Galactic which torture Pokemon. Hareta has the v. prideful Pokemon, Piplup, at his side and a young woman, Mitsumi, to slow him down and help think things through.

i'm confused, think iunderstand the story, its purpose is to sell Pokemon cards and accessories but i can't imagine a fan of Deathnote or Hunger Games enjoying this book.

Calling it all ages is generous, perhaps just elementary school.

In black and white.
