Geoffrey Budworth co-founded the International Guild of Knot Tyers in 1982 and regularly contributes to its quarterly journal, Knotting Matters. He’s been described as “the father of forensic knotting and occasionally gives evidence in court as an expert witness of knots found at crime scenes. Budworth is a well-known personality and author in the world of knots.
This is a excellent and well illustrated book about knots. I learned a few of the knots that I had heard of but not known how to recognise or tie myself. Of course there are far too many for me to learn by heart. But there is one that has already helped me a lot. I learned that the reason my shoe laces were coming untied on my morning run was that I was using the double bow granny knot. I switched to the reef (square) knot and now my runners stay comfortably tied. There are many other practical and decorative knots to appreciate as well.
