They're back! Rediscover the zaniest characters you've ever met in this best-selling series which has sold millions worldwide. Just in time for Fall 1997's hot new animated TV show, Mr. Men and Little Miss are being relaunched in the U. S. Bright and charming, with easily recognizable characters and a small take-along format, Mr. Men and Little Miss books are easy enough for young readers, witty enough for humor-prone adults, and highly collectible for one and all.
Roger Hargreaves was a British cartoonist, illustrator and writer of children's books. He created the Mr. Men series, Little Miss series and Timbuctoo series, intended for young readers. The simple and humorous stories, with bold, brightly coloured illustrations, have sales of more than 85 million copies worldwide in 20 languages.
Today, the nephew told me he hated Little Miss books. My heart sank a bit. I told him that Mr. Happy, Mr. Funny and Mr. Topsy-Turvy were all in there and what do you know, he really enjoyed this story after all. I think it was more he wanted to watch TV instead of read. The book hooked him anyway. He gave it 3 stars after all.
Little Miss Giggle lost her giggle and Mr. Happy helps her find it again.
The wall paper in this one is extreme, lines verses checks and all kinds of 80s decor. I still think these books are fun. Just a few hundred left.
I had great fun building up a bookshelf up of these wonderful stories for children. My children and grandchildren really loved them and so do I. We have had hours of fun with these books. Highly recommended.
This gritty tale of loss, futility, and medical ineptitude grabs you by the giggle box from page one.
Giggles, the mildly hysterical protagonist, has us on side almost immediately with her upbeat outlook on life, while her cheerful companion, Happy, brings much needed comic relief to a traumatic time for the blue-skinned and beribboned heroine.
At the height of this harrowing tale we are also inevitably led to question the qualifications (and ironic naming) of the charlatan Dr Makeyouwell, in the story's most shocking moment.
Will Giggles rediscover her joy and vanquish her ennui? Will Makeyouwell end up at a tribunal? What does Mr Happy have in his box?
Surely the Pulitzer committee are already discussing this masterpiece of literature. Read it before the awards so you too can look smug when it sweeps the board.
I love how other characters in these stories rally around when one of them is sad and upset.
In this case Little Miss Giggles has lost her giggle. Of course Mr. Happy is the perfect character to help out and try and make her giggle again.
These books are great ways to explore different emotions with little readers and the message of friends trying to make you happy again is a sweet one. Mr Happy's eventually succeeds with such a genius idea!
Ah, Mr Men and Little Miss, how wonderful you are!
These books made up so much of my childhood. No matter what I would go ahead and pick one up. I worked my way through them all a couple of times. Each one has a wonderful story for the child to engage with, each character being fun to read.
Everyone has a bias for their favourite character, yet every book is delightful.
I absolutely loved these Mr Men and Little Miss books. I remember getting them from my granny every week. There was so much from these simple characters, I remember filling my little bookshelf with all these books making sure I had got them all in right order. I wish I still had these books but somehow most of them got lost with many house moves or my mum gave the rest away. If I ever have kids, I will make sure they get the chance to experience these wonderful, colourful books.
I read this book to my little daughter a couple of times this month based on a recommendation from a friend on Google+. I am so glad I did! My daughter absolutely loved it and giggled many times. I can remember reading some others of this series when I was growing up. I am glad they are still around!
I do like the Little Miss and Mr Men books. We tend to take 4-5 on holiday or as they can fit easily in the kids toy bags and they will flick through them or create a game around who has which books when we are travelling. This one has a cute story and like most of them, has a humour that appeals to our 3 and 5 year olds. A cute and fun story to have as part of your Mr/Little Miss collection.
Oh, if only this had been around when I was a child... My children seemed less keen on them than me, but I could still have a sneaky read in the library while they were looking at the jigsaws on the rocket carpet.
