Squeakverse #2

Squeal: The Squeakquel

Rate this book
When last we left our intrepid semi-inflatable heroes, they were safely ensconced in the nest of their omega tulpamancer mate. Poppy had just defended her claim by flexing her newfound powers against an old, abusive rival, and won much-deserved freedom for her deliciously elastic alphas.

What goes up, however, must go down.

One of the first rules of carnival magic is that things are never really as they seem, and our amorous trio is about to get the wind taken out of their sails. As Keane grows uneasy at just how easily he'd won his freedom, Seb and Poppy encourage him to relax and embrace their new life together. What they don't know is that Keane isn't the only one listening, and their happily ever after might take a few more chapters to find.

Is there room in the nest for someone else? They'd certainly have big shoes to fill.

....or maybe it's the other way around?

***

Squeal is a polyamorous (m+m+m+f) balloon animal shifter omegaverse novella with (artistic takes on) OV designations and omegaverse-specific concepts like knotting, heats, ruts, nests, mate bites, bondings, and more. There is discussion of past violence and sexual compulsion/slavery, beatings, clowns, and other potentially sensitive topics. A full list will be provided in the beginning of the completed book, if any additional concerns are added in before publication. Finally, while MM relationships do not need a warning, consider this your heads up that the male characters are together, as they often are in my books - this story is polyamorous / polyam and acknowledges full, nuanced romantic relationships between all parties. If I’ve missed mentioning any content considerations you feel should be in this list, please let me know! The safety and comfort of my readers always takes precedence.

What a hot mess. I enjoyed Squeak purely for the novelty of it, but this was a completely unnecessary sequel that just confused an already bonkers premise. The "plot" bounced around too much for an ~50-odd page novella and it just came across as rushed.

Also, why introduce a 4th into the harem if you're not going to write a scene with them?? Seems a bit odd to me, but 🤷‍♀

This was way better now that I know what to expect Ronnie was a sweetpea and totally adorable. I found myself getting emotional when he did he just seemed so innocent.

Just as bonkers as the first novella, but an even thinner “plot. It’s a quick read though and it runs on a similar/overlapping timeline as Squeak. I liked that we got clarification on what happened in the final showdown with Zina and that there’s actually an on page MMF scene in this one. It felt odd to add someone else into the relationship and not get a full scene with them and the existing trio, but there are the beginnings of a MMMF scene. Because of the timeline, we don’t really get any updates on the original characters further into the future and I’m not sure this additional novella was really necessary.

Content warnings and notes from the author:

Squeal is a balloon animal shifter omegaverse novella with (artistic takes on) OV designations and omegaverse-specific concepts like knotting, heats, ruts, nests, mate bites, bondings, and more. Squeak: A Twisted Tale should be read prior to this book. There is a clown in the story. There is a brief (non-main-character) death. There is discussion of current and past violence and sexual compulsion/slavery.

I think the last bit of my sanity left when I read this almost immediately after the first one.

I didn't think I could like any book as much as I liked Squeak, but here we are!! And Miss Valentine has done it again with her fantastic writing and her delightful wordplay! This Omegaverse shifter why choose romance was a really fun, short read!

If you are worried about the clown 🤡 element, this isn't one to be worried about. Yes, it has a clown, but it is from Ronnie the Clown's POV, and not much attention is made of him as the clown. It certainly isn't terrifying.

I love how the pieces fit together with all of the characters, and how the timelines overlapped!

It is currently available on KU, and deliciously sweet to the last drop!

Another good one?

Am I the only one that thinks these books have no business being this good?
I would have liked to see a little more spicy time with the four characters.

And that I've said that, it only confirms I am not well. 😂

Im going to start writing more reviews so I can remember books more easily.

This book was even worse than the first one. This was a unneeded second book(if you could even call it a second book). It was introducing a new character that tied into the story of the first one. I felt like finishing it was a chore because there was even no need for it. I would rather the second book be about the developing relationship in the first one. Also the addition of a shape shifting clown was horrible.

I regret reading this.

Needed 2 things

1. A scene with all four. What a tease

2. Ronnie needs to make those other two dudes into balloon animals. Its all I wanted the whole book.

The first one was hilarious and got 2 stars for the creativity, jokes and sheer gall to even write something like this.

This was bad, and I’m mad it’s not called “The Squeakuel.

That is all.

This did not need a sequel. The first book was good because it was funny and shocking, but that factor was gone in this, and nothing really happened.

The fact that I read both of these on the same day (I mean, they were FAST reads), and still left wanting to know more about the characters either says a lot about the author, or me as a person.

3 stars.

Runs to return this to Kindle lol

The first one was actually pretty good and hilarious. Don’t bother reading the Squeakquel though, it’s awful.

Absolutely nothing made sense. Now there’s a third frickin balloon-dick man but he’s also a clown?! LOL

This was honestly so bad and unnecessary. She should have just left it as a standalone.

The only good thing was we find out a little bit more about what happened with Poppy and Zina. Just skip to Chapter 9 to read that scene and be done with it lol

Really questioning my sanity right now 😂

Not as good as Book 1??

This book was okay but as a friend of mine that read it said, “the author didn’t keep the same energy as book 1. Book one was soooo much better. This book didn’t add anymore information to the storyline of squeak and in my personal opinion was an unnecessary add. Some things don’t need to be a series, this books prequel was one of those books that would have been better as a standalone.

I hate clowns so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this one, but it wasn't bad.

The second book in the series.... Lol. I'm not going to lie. This one I felt was better than the first one because the writing seemed to improve. What an odd world this author has created, but I felt increasingly drawn into these characters. Don't get me wrong these books are super strange and nothing like I normally read, but it was a nice step outside my normal. I could see the story becoming an anime and I would totally watch it. I probably wouldn't recommend this to anybody I know, but this story/world will be engraved in my brain forever.... And at the end of the day isn't that the goal of all authors?
