Mistletoe Series #1

Mistletoe Kisses

Rate this book
The last time I saw broody, gorgeous, son-of-a-billionaire, Lincoln Porter, was Christmas Eve…right after I got publicly dumped by his best friend

Imagine my surprise when he told me my ex never deserved me.right before kissing me!

That was eight years ago and I haven’t seen him since. Okay fine I haven’t been home either.

As far as I’m concerned, I could go another eight years without the holiday explosion of garlands and mistletoe, holly and tinsel. I avoid Christmas at all costs. My idiot ex ruined the holidays for me. To make matters worse, everyone sided with him. Including my parents.

Everyone but Linc that is.

But now, instead of spending the holidays on a warm sandy beach, devoid of jolly men in red suits, my job is sending me home…back to Faith, Virginia. A town often compared to a holiday snow globe.

Where the owner of the mouth I ran away from still lives Damn him and that knowing cocky smile.

So here I am, my career on the line. In the one place I swore to never return. And what do you know, Lincoln Porter still has those wide, broad shoulders and the devil’s own smile.

But I’m not staying. When I ran, I left behind a cold and dismissive family and a small town where I never felt like myself. But this broody, billionaire says he should have given me a reason to stay last time.

No way I’m letting him tempt me into staying now.

Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.

That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

This holiday rom-com dilly has all-the-feels. Nana Malone is a new-to-me-author -- and I enjoyed the heck out of her writing style.

Years have passed since Lincoln and Naomi have seen each other. He’s always had a thing for her, but she was in love with his best friend who broke her heart eight years ago on Christmas Eve. Immediately thereafter, she left Faith, Virginia for the big city. Now she’s back in their hometown on a “find and seek mission. And Lincoln, now a doctor, isn’t wasting one minute he might have at a chance for love with the girl of his dreams. There’s a little mystery surrounding Linc’s character that adds intrigue to the story as well.

Lots of laugh-out-loud moments, witty bantering and sizzling hot chemistry -- a wonderful stand-alone that is sure to add some additional holiday sparkles to your reading list.

Holiday season has started and what better way to celebrate it’s arrival than with a good romance? Nomi and Linc have known each other since they were teens. In fact her best friend is his twin sister. After heartache drives her from their small town eight years before, she vows never to return. However when her drive for a promotion leads her to her hometown to track down an elusive photographer, she runs into Linc and sparks fly. His interest in her has burned steadily since he first saw her and her recent recognition of her attraction to him makes for some hot times between the sheets. When her time in the town is coming to an end and an enemy shares that her elusive photographer and Linc have a connection, she again feels like running from the town that’s only ever hurt her. But the story doesn’t end there you have to read it to see just what happens.

A holiday love story to savor!

Lincoln is Naomi’s best friend, Jilly’s twin brother. He’s liked her from the time she first moved to Faith, but she didn’t return his feelings. Instead, she had a relationship with his best friend which ended badly. She left after that. Naomi swore she’d never go back to Faith, her hometown, but she had no choice. Working for a magazine, she has to find a famous photographer who apparently comes from Faith, too. It’s eight years since Naomi left Faith. Oh, the secrets one weaves. This story is original and epic at the same time. The steam just rolls off the pages. Can each one of them overcome the hurt from their past? It’s a wonderful journey to go on with Linc and Naomi.

I am a sucker for a steamy holiday romance and Mistletoe Kisses is definitely that and more. This holiday novella takes Nomi back to her hometown of Faith, Virginia to find the elusive photographer, Nolan Polk. She has lost her holiday spirit and is forced to go back to Faith, where Christmas spirit is around every corner. On the plus side she is able to see her best friend, Jilly and her twin brother, Linc.
Linc is keeping a big secret since his heart was broken years earlier, but now that Nomi is back, even if it is only temporary, he isn’t going to waste his chance at showing her how he feels.
The magic of Christmas is definitely working for these two until the secret is uncovered. Can they find their magic again? Read, enjoy and find out for yourself.

What a fun story with strong-willed and determined Nomi and Linc, twin brother of her best friend. She’s on a mission to find the famous photographer having no idea it’s him. There are serious sparks between these two and history to overcome. Will lies ruin their chance at HEA? Would love to read more of their story! Well done Nana Malone

Mistletoe Kisses has Ms Malone’s usual strong heroine but the story is a little sweeter than her recent books. And I mean that in the best way! Lincoln is lovable, a little flawed but sexy as hell! This is a cute, quick holiday read that you shouldn’t miss! A one click buy!

What’s a Holiday romance without a little angst? Mistletoe Kisses is a second chance at love/hidden identity story set to the backdrop of the Christmas Season.

Linc and Naomi (Nomi) are hot like fire from the beginning. Even though they grew up together, Nomi has been gone for years and doesn’t recognize the brother of her best friend. The one who kissed her all those years ago before she left town.

I’m not sure the last time I read a book where the man is the one who is OBVIOUSLY in love with the woman and makes no bones about it. Even though he’s hiding something, his attraction and love for her is not one of them.

I don’t know if I believed Nomi’s character didn’t know how Linc felt but she had so many other things going on, I guess I could overlook that one flaw.

Really good book and hoping for Jilly’s story, maybe around Valentine’s?????

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book has continuity errors, so many typos or grammatical errors and I was constantly lost. What could have been a good story was buried in something that needed an editor desperately.

I don't know whether there was an upload error or if the editors should have done a final read-through, but some of the errors in the Kobo edition were a bit ridiculous at times. The FMC, Nomi, meets her best friend for the first time in three months twice in two different chapters. Perhaps the vodka consumed in the first meeting gave them amnesia? There are points when a word is capitalized for no reason. A change from first person perspective to third person for half a sentence. In the end it's a bit grating and I usually don't mind a few errors.

As for the story itself. Nomi works for a magazine that is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a photospread from a photographer no one has seen in two years and that they can't get a hold of. They need pictures by the end of December/beginning of January (it is now the middle of december) so Nomi is sent to her hometown she hasn't visited in eight years because of reasons to find him/her. They happen to have a post box there but the name is an alias. But she can surely find the photographer with her friends who live there.

Okay, now time for a spoilery rant.

No one knows who the photographer is let alone what he looks like, how is she supposed to find him on the basis that "you used to live there almost a decade ago"? PS, we'll send your rival journalist as well who has an even smaller chance of stumbling on the unknown photographer who uses an alias. In a week.

The MMC is twin brother to her best friend and has been in love with her for a decade. And is also the photographer. But he won't say anything because of a clause in his contract with his old manager/ex that gives her money for all sales up until the new year. So he leads her on a merry goose chase while trying not to get into her pants, and failing at that, meanwhile trying to figure out if he can trust her with his hidden identity.

The culmination of the plot is his ex spilling his identity before he can, him apologising for not trusting her and giving her her pick of photographs barring a few special ones, her sending all files to her private server at the magazine with notes on the picks for her assistant and them falling in love in bed. The end. Not. Somehow the pictures sent at midnight end up in a public server with her rival picking exactly the pictures that were not to be used and these being sent to the printers with no possibility for change before they've even had breakfast. PS It's New Years Day if I read the timeline correctly DS. MMC gets an an email confirming the wrong pictures from his ex/manager believing Nomi to have sent exactly those (his ex gave him trust issues that I actually understand), and leaves her. She panics, tries to change them (that's when she finds out it's impossible) then runs to her best friend who drives her to her brother where she makes a big speech about loving him. But not apologising for the mix up and begging to explain the mistake. She leaves when he is still mad at her, his sister yells at him that he is simply afraid of love and he ends up moving to L.A to be with Nomi and apologises for yelling at her. When he had done NOTHING wrong. And the pictures are all of a sudden not important.

The timings drive me up the wall in this one. Not so much in the romance as in the rest of the plot. Here is a serious magazine who still hasn't got their centerpiece pictures days before print or an alternative. Is that normal in publishing? Everyone has everything written in stone less than twelve hours from the time the pictures where sent at around midnight. Reminding you that it is the day after New Year´s Eve. Giving no time to retract or double check anything. We were also never given a final date for the pictures, what were they going to use instead if she waited until morning? And also giving the pick of the pictures to a journalist who hasn't been in contact with the photographer?

I'm a bit confused and there seems to be a lot that was thrown in simply to make things happen or be convenient.

PS Did you see the part where her father had resented her for years for making him leave a tenured position at a school because she was stalked by the son of a local politician when she was fourteen and the police wouldn't do anything? Father of the year. DS

I usually don't point out things like grammatical errors and lack of editing for indie published books (especially ones written by marginalized authors), but this book was so weighed down by them, and so many errors led to inconsistencies, that Mistletoe Kisses was a very taxing and difficult read. Not to mention, Nomi, Linc, and Linc's twin sister (whose name I can't remember but was Nomi's best friend that she never spoke to or even video chatted and spent a lot of time trying to push Nomi and her brother together, thinking about the great sex they'd have) were all so very unlikable and strange.

I will say I liked the concept.

I disliked Linc and his sister leading Nomi on a wild goose chase—I would never speak to my best friend again if they knew I was looking for someone and they knew who I was looking for but allowed me to run all around town and run into dead end after dead end. And I'd never forgive this from a man I thought I loved. Their lack of communication was very frustrating and grating and ultimately didn't make sense. You want me to believe that Linc has been in love with Nomi for a decade but he didn't trust her with the truth of his identity? No thank you, ma'am.

I disliked that Nomi seemed to be very whitewashed. Not that I needed her to be a Black Panther or anything, but it seemed like her core issue was striving to fit in where she couldn't get in and constantly insisting she belonged there anyway—whether that was in work or in romance. Her beef with the other women in this book are all white women, and she even calls one out of her name upon meeting her (not to her face) and it made me wonder why she didn't simply seek community in a place where she may have actually received it?

I disliked Naomi's relationship with her parents, and the rush job that was given to patch that up. It still felt unsettled and open-ended in the end with no real hope for resolution, which was disappointing.

I disliked how the ending was wrapped up because it didn't seem like Nomi gave her team nearly as much pushback as they deserved for publishing the series she didn't want to see the light of day. And I remain uncertain as to how that series was obtained because it wasn't clear at all.

I disliked the spice most of all. It was uninspired, repetitive, and unnecessarily drawn out in such a short novella. When Linc and Nomi said they loved each other, my jaw dropped. They literally didn't know each other omg? Also this novella wasn't Christmas-y at all!

I'll give this author another try; she comes highly recommended by other Black authors I enjoy, but this didn't work for me at all.

Linc's been in love with his twin sister's best friend since they were kids. But she left town years ago and hasn't been back. Suddenly his sister's volunteering him to pick Nomi up at the airport. Will this be his chance to finally act on his feelings? Even if it ends with his broken heart when she leaves again?

Nomi's seeking a reclusive photographer in her hometown. But when her bestie's twin brother is tasked with picking her up at the airport, sparks are flying all over. Should she indulge in their attraction even though she's not planning on sticking around for long?

Whew, this holiday short is spicy! Linc and Nomi are a great couple and their chemistry really, really made my Kindle sit up and take notice of the mistletoe kissing. Though short, their story is complete with two really likable characters, well, three because the bestie/sister is awesome too, and the perfect amount of heart mixed in with all the Christmas cheer. I'd love an extended version of this story, or even a sequel *hint hint!*

This story is about a boy who falls in love with a girl. The girl is oblivious to the boy's feelings and falls for his best friend. After Naomi gets her heart broken, she runs away to start a new life on her own. Naomi is a successful woman at a magazine in California. Her current project is to hunt down a famous photographer to help with a significant milestone anniversary for the magazine. It involves Naomi going home to her hometown, which she hasn't returned to since she ran away. Competing against another magazine employee for the scoop, she reluctantly makes her way home. Naomi's best friend and her best friend's twin brother, Lincoln, welcome her home with open arms. I found this book the perfect read for a cold winter day. Naomi is so adverse to her family, hometown, and Christmas that she has difficulty seeing what's right in front of her eyes. Lincoln is going through a lot. He came home to help his father, who has early Alzheimer's, and to help with the family business. He is also dealing with an ex who has tarnished his ability to do what he loves best, taking pictures. I don't see why Naomi is so upset about coming home and how she can't see the love in Linc's eyes. Linc is forever patient with her and has to know if she is trustworthy with his biggest secret. This story kept me on my toes and was a quick read.

This is a quick, heartwarming, friends to lovers holiday romance. Nomi and Linc have been friends since high school. Linc was shy and reclusive but came out of his shell when Nomi came around. He always had a crush on her but never acted on it after she started dating his best friend, Ben. When Ben broke her heart, Nomi left town to follow her dreams and vowed never to return. Now she is about to get a promotion at the magazine where she works, but she needs to return home to find a famous photographer for the next issue. When she reluctantly pulls into town, Linc is there for her, like he always was. This is his chance to win her heart, and the Mistletoe Kiss starts the passion that they both have wanted for a long time. But when mistakes happen, secrets are revealed, and betrayal is felt, will Nomi leave for good, breaking both their hearts? Nomi and Linc were so perfect for each other, as she brought out his inspiration, and he helped her find home, family, and love. I adored this touching, and sizzling romance. It is a wonderful holiday read that will warm your heart.

Our Hero, Lincoln (Linc), has held a torch for our heroine, Nomi, since they were teens, but she had been dating his best friend. When a work snafu forces her home to Virginia, a landslide of bad memories and feelings threaten to bury her until Linc offers to be her chauffeur when no rental cars are available. While attending a fundraiser with him as she tries to track down the photographer she needs for her job, Linc takes advantage of the mistletoe hanging over Nomi's head to finally kiss her again. The heated kiss ignites a flame that has them leaving to find a more private place. She goes into the fling knowing there's a time limit before she returns to LA. He hears the same clock ticking knowing he only has a short time to convince her this thing between them is more than a fling. However, trust issues from previous relationships cause both of them to second guess the sincerity of these feelings.
I enjoyed this fun holiday novella that had a wonderful balance of romance, tension and steam!

This was a great short story to start the Christmas season, Linc and Nomi were amazing together and I loved their chemistry and their flirting. Lincoln had a crush on Naomi for years but she dated his best friend and after he cheated she left town and swore not to come back. Now 8 years later thanks to her work she had to go back home and thanks to her best friend and Linc’s twin sister they started spending time together.

Lincoln knew Nomi was in town just for work but I loved reading how he took his sister’s advice and finally told Nomi about his feelings, he was always looking out for her and their attraction little by little started growing. Their interactions were really steamy and it was nice reading how after some ups and downs they worked things out and got their happy ending.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Naomi “Nomi Adams is going back home to Faith, Virginia. She hasn’t stepped back in her hometown in eight years after vowing to never return. She’s back to secure a promotion as Senior Editor at Sassy magazine. In search of a recluse photographer who is rumored to live in Faith. She solicits the help of her best friend, Jilly and Jilly’s twin brother, Lincoln “Linc Porter.

Linc has been back in Faith helping his family with their winery and hiding a secret. A secret that Nomi is determined to uncover. That week led both of them down a path of discovery. Linc was in love with Nomi and had been since the day she walked into the town. Linc now has his chance to show her how he has felt about her. Can he do it before he has a chance to reveal his secret?

Naomi “Nomi Adams is on a mission to secure a sought-after promotion at her job. However, there is a major snag in her pursuit:1) The famed photographer Nolan Polk can’t be found, and 2) She must return to her hometown of Faith, Virginia which she is in no rush to return to after heartbreak eight years prior. Then there is Linc Porter the twin brother of Nomi’s BFF Jilly. The pair meet again, and this is where the novella takes a turn. Both Linc and Nomi have been burned in love before. However, their mutual feelings begin to grow for each other. There is plenty of humor, steamy romance, and twists in this holiday novella. There are a few characters who are on the Naughty list and rightfully so. Despite all this Linc and Nomi got their Happy Ever After. I really enjoyed this story, and it is great for a quick holiday read.

This book was cute, but it could have definitely benefited from editing. At the beginning of the book the ex-fiancee of Lincoln was named Melinda, halfway through she was named Melanie, a few chapters later it was Melinda again and then ended with her name being Melanie. I found at times a sentence would start as a thought and end as a third party description. There were some spelling mistakes "Altar" was spelt "Alter". I was going to read the gentlemen rogues series after this but now I am holding off as I would rather read a different author and hope for better editing. I feel that the lack of editing will annoy me if I continue with this author back to back. I hate getting worked up about spelling and editing mistakes in books.

If you will be annoyed by lack of care in editing be prepared.

This book started out ok. Enjoyable, fun, good tension and banter. The plot wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t terrible either and I was enjoying it.

And then, almost out of nowhere where, the author seem to rush through the ending. Instead of having a week where we watch them fall in love, it was entirely skipped over. Conflict seemed forced and practically out of no where, especially when it came to Nomi’s mistake.

Nomi’s rival from work was almost completely forgotten about until she was necessary and new, out of the blue rivals popped up. And the characters did things that just didn’t make sense (why in the world would you go to the wedding of your ex best friend and your girlfriend’s ex boyfriend who she hates and broke her heart?)

I feel like this book could have gone a lot differently if it were given the time to do so.

A cute second chance story.

I enjoyed reading this story. Even though Nomi swore to never return to the town of her embarrassment, She did for her job. She had a sonic ing co-worker breathing down her neck to make sure she failed. But Nomi knew her town and the people. Never did she know that the person she was looking for wad right under her nose. Lincoln Porter had been hurt just like Naomi had. But they always had a thing for each other but pushed it in the background because of who Nomi was involved with. But now, after eight years, Linc is determined to win her. But he's hiding a secret. Will she forgive him when the truth cones out? Will he forgive her when a coworker under handedly cause him to lose faith in her? Thanks to her best friend Jilly who's Linc's sister persuade him to take a chance on love for a change and they do.

From the writing to the pacing to the sex scenes, this book had almost nothing for me. Not to mention that there's no Christmas in this so called Christmas novella. The story takes place around Christmas time but we see literally nothing related to Christmas at all. There are also aspects of the story that you read a line or two about but never actually see. It feels like this was supposed to be a full blown novel but it never grew up big and strong to become one. The only good thing I can really say is that it was a quick read.

I normally write much longer reviews (even for books I don't really enjoy), but I'm just struggling so hard to find the words to express what reading this book was like. Truly a disappointment.

Mistletoe Kisses by Nana Malone. I am so happy that this book is included in this anthology. I have wanted to read a book by this author.

This is Lincoln “Linc and Naomi “Nomi’s story. Linc is a photographer and Nomi is working for a magazine and she is trying to find a famous photographer that comes from her hometown. Nomi hasn’t been home in years and she isn’t looking forward to going to her hometown.

Nomi knows Linc as her best friend, Jilly’s twin brother. She doesn’t realize he is the photographer she is looking for.

Linc and Nomi get together for some steamy times.

I was glad to get this opportunity to checkout this author. I will be reading more of her books.

Nomi grew up in Faith. When a relationship ended badly, she said she would never go back. Now, her job was requiring her to go back to find a photographer they need for their next magazine issue. Lincoln Porter always liked Nomi but she disappeared eight years ago. He thought she didn't have the same feelings and she ended up dating his best friend. It did not end well. This is a great quick read both classic boy meets girl type of story but also unique at the same time. Also, some really good steam. Will each of them be able to overcome past hurts and get a HEA? Good read.

I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.

Loved Linc and Nomi! This was the perfect little romance to get me in the Christmas spirit too! I feel like there are not enough synonyms for hot to adequately describe Linc, like the PERFECT - made for me kind of perfect- book boyfriend for me, absolutely funny and smart and owns his feelings kind of guy who figures out what he wants and goes for it. Ah ambition! Love to see it. Nomi is one independent woman, her own career goals set, tunnel vision on opportunity and expert level wall builder when it comes to protecting her heart. These two have a wonderful chase and I just really enjoyed them figuring it all out!

I will not rate this book at this time until I fi is reading it in a couple of hours...
I am reading chapter six and Jilly and Nomi saw each last night in chapter five, now its the next morning and Jilly is asking questions to Nomi like it is her first time seeing her in chapter six.
The misspelled words and grammar at this point is unbelievable.

Storyline is good and I will keep reading, but never thought I would see a book written by this author with so many errors.

This storyline is very familiar like I have read this already

Finish reading the book...great story but the errors were too many!

This was a great, quick holiday read with a few twists and turns, surprises, and all the feelings and steamy goodness you come to expect from Nana Malone. There's a broody billionaire and an ambitious heroine. Lincoln has had his eyes set on Naomi for as long as he can remember, but she never noticed him in that way. Besides, she was his sister's best friend. She leaves town hoping for something more than their little town, only to return eight years later. Can he convince the one who got away that he's the one for her? It won't be an easy road to their HEA, but they get there. I recommend reading this entertaining holiday romance.
