What happens when the man I love to hate becomes the man I must pretend to love?
I can’t seem to escape Thayden Walker and his infuriating charm.
Even his mother and his Great Dane seem bent on playing matchmaker. But I’m totally immune.
Until I'm presented with an offer that puts my ability to withstand him to the test. If I marry Thayden, all my student debt goes poof, and he'll take over the family firm.
There’s so much more at stake than money or a job, especially when I start to see the man beneath the mask.
Playing house with Thayden is the most dangerous game of all.
And we’re both set up to lose more than we could ever win. Unless we’ve been on the same side all along ...

After reading a bunch of fantasy novels I needed a change and Falling for Your Fake Fiancé was the perfect genre switch.
This was a fun, lighthearted conflict-free romance. The type story where the H/h both really like each other and they spend the whole book pussyfooting around their obvious feelings. While these type storylines can be fun and sweet, I like a bit more tension and more of a natural change-of-feelings as the characters get to know each other. Delilah's hesitancy makes sense because of her background (but was still a bit of a yo-yo), I thought Thayden's 180 on his feelings were rushed. Overall, it had a fun plot, likable characters, swoony moments and an overall enjoyable read.
The banter between Delilah and Thayden ... oh my! A former pageant competitor with a painful past, southern belle Delilah was such a firecracker. Resistant (or so she thinks) to the deemed playboy Thayden Walker, the tension between them was sizzling!
Now jobless and drowning in debt, Delilah becomes roped into a fake dating, marriage of convenience arrangement with Thayden, who needs a marriage certificate to secure the fate of The Walker Firm. And cue the romantic gestures! Now living under one roof, I adored seeing them adjust to a domestic life together. Being against marriage initially, the utterly charming Thayden will certainly make you swoon as he jumps through contract loopholes, putting in the effort to spoil and cherish Delilah.
With support of friends and family along the way, the only characters that need convincing of a happily-ever-after are Thayden and Delilah themselves. And it's such a perfect journey for them!
This is book 3 in the Love Clichés series and it's been fun so far. I find her writing so easy to eat up and her characters are funny.
I liked Thayden's character. He is being forced to get married by his father's will in order to keep the family firm. He has never wanted to get married so he's furious. Enter Delilah who is fired from her doggy day care job where Thayden happens to keep his dog at. He offers to employee her and she can't refuse the money.
Thayden's mom was also a fun part of this story. She wanted Thayden to get married so badly that when she meets Delilah, she see this as the perfect match.
Shenanigans ensue and it's very entertaining.
I really appreciate that this author writes completely clean stories. Not just in language but also in spice. I applaud her author's note at the end. I feel like this is an author we can really trust.
I do find her romances so far to be a little fast. Like the characters hate each other on the outside and don't want to come across as interested, but then on the inside they can't help but be drawn to each other and secretly hope the nice things mean more. I find that it gets old. I don't see them actually getting to know each other below the surface. So I hope the more I read from this author, that quality will show up.
Talk about boring and childish behavior. I had to make myself read some of it until I couldn’t take it no more.Trust me don’t waste your time on this book.
Oh My!! This was the best romcom I've ever read.. honestly guys I'm tooooo happy to read this , it's been a while since I've laughed so much at a book .. I mean yeah I read a lot but still I like this one so much.. what are y'all waiting for . Just grab it and read This year due to covid I was overloaded with school work ..so I wanted to read more of sassy, clean, laugh out loud books but I was sometimes skeptical about the romance. But this book was all clean with some swoonworthy kisses Trust me.. it's worth every minute I'm happy dancing here cause I've found an new clean romcom author Absolute Go!!Go!!
Thayden.. I'm falling for you man. Ugh this story of Thayden and Delailah kept me up all night , this is such a sassy clean romance with swoon worthy man and kisses😉 yes guys it's totally clean. Delailah struggles with being taken care of due to her past.. Thayden has never met anyone with whome he wants to wake up every morning to , so he decides he's out for that marriage part but when His father tell's in his Will that he has to get married and stay married for an year to get his family firm.. he's out of mind.. he tough that's not possible but when somehow Delailah signed up for one year fake agreement . He doesn't like it, marriage is somehow a sacred thing to both of them but they are left with no option. Both of them seem to fall for each other while Delailah is determined not to , Thayden feels like it's true for both of them . In case how is he gonna clear this mess.. but !! ( Read the book guys.. it's so good)
Loved it. It totally cracked me up, and though I have a busy work day today, I stayed up all night reading. Literally—all night. Finished reading it at 6:30ish.
There were so many hilarious moments that I just loved, all the scenes with the firemen are particular favorites, and the romance was perfect. So much fun. Also, I want Apollo to be my dog.
The best one yet! Thayden…where the heck is my Thayden?! I want one. Lol I’ll gladly be spoiled within an inch of my life and banter and tease him until we’re stiff and old and have to use a crutch 😂
Update: I listened to the audiobook and, yes, this is still my favorite of the five! Thayden and Delilah are so adorable and the narrators killed it!
This whole series has been so much fun to read. For me, it's been a guilty pleasure. Don't get me wrong, these books are sweet and clean but I have allowed myself to get completely swept away into this fictional world. And I have enjoyed every minute of it! Each book can stand alone but I highly recommend reading them in order so you can enjoy the friendships between the best-friends/roommates! Delilah and Thayden are a fun couple. Their love cliche is "fake fiance" but could have also fallen into enemy to lovers or rags to riches trope as well. Their romance is so dreamy, skeptics may say unrealistic but not me. My favorite part is when Thayden shows up with lunch when D is trying on wedding dresses. He tells her she's breathtaking. He wasn't being Mr. Charming he was so sincere it took my breath away, so romantic! Apollo is the perfect sidekick. If you are a dog lover you will really appreciate him!
There's not a lot to dislike about this super sweet, heart-swooning romcom that had me laughing out loud and feeling all the feels. I adored the characters. Thayden is everything you want in a hunky hero, kind, generous, protector. And Delilah is the kind of heroine you can get behind and root for, plus her witty personality shines on the page. From the fun (albeit painful) meet cute, the pace of this story is balanced nicely. I LOVED the lobster scene!! I always struggle with marriage of convenience plots that happen in this century and while I gave in to the premise behind this one, I really need to have a believable why behind the decision. Unfortunately, I didn't get that. There was also a lot of see-sawing on the "I want this to be real" on both sides (especially after it's clear they both like each other and vocal about that) but I couldn't understand why neither of them would admit this? So, it just felt dragged out a little too long for me. However, all in all, this is a fantastic romcom and I'm going to read the rest of this series and probably anything else Emma St. Clair writes. #newfan
This is a super cute read and perfect on a snowy Valentine's day. I absolutely loved Delilah and Thayden. I practically smiled throughout the entire book! This is a clean story and my favorite swoon moment was from Thayden...
“Delilah, in twenty-four hours, yes. To all of it. Right now? I want to save everything until after we say very real I dos. I want the very first time I toss you on my bed—the first of many times thereafter—to be when you share my last name.
No surprise given the aptly named series, Love Cliches, this love story is cliched and formulaic and not very cerebral. The heroine dreams of being an academic in English Lit but does nothing to further this aspiration. Instead of applying for work in this field, she settles for dog-walking as a career as she feared her beauty will hold her back from a career in academia. Eh, plenty of incidentally attractive people are able to hold "respected jobs" as long as they don't make a fuss over it. She (of the superior intellect but unfairly labelled by the less attractive majority) displays her brilliance early on, asking for a contract from the lawyer H because she does not trust him then proceeds to sign it unread. Furthermore, I am no lawyer, but if a contract was signed based on fraudulent information and misrepresentation, it can be legally voided right? Additionally, since they both did not agree to the marital contract, what would stop them from dissolving it since no other party is involved in the contract? So many things did not make sense and were glossed over superficially. Once they achieved their HEA, she was suddenly able to pursue an academic career. Did marriage impart an ordinariness to her gorgeous visage? And what kind of creepy house-guest would snoop through the owner's underwear drawer and justify it as being cutely curious. I call it a disturbing violation.
This was such a cute fluffy romance. I listened to the audiobook and Thayden's narrator was perfect. Sold the book even more.
Fake engagement/marriage of convenience is really growing on me! I enjoyed the way it was done in this book. I hate age gap and I didn't realise there's one in this. (She's 23, he's 33) But it wasn't really spoken of so I acted like it didn't exist and it was still v good. Still, I loved both Thayden and Delilah and honestly the whole friend group.
This was just fun! There were some laugh out loud moments with this one. I enjoy St. Clairs silliness. There is some fun tension in this one. It is a bit of an insta love feel going on in this one. I had a hard time believing that this play boy fell that hard that fast. I put that aside and just enjoyed this sweet silly romance. Some kisses and living together before marriage but it is chaste.
I love everything about this series and this book was no different. I binged it in one sitting and sadly closed the book once it was over. Maybe next time I'll read it slower and take in all the swoony moments between Thayden and Delilah.
DNF @ 41%. I started this about two weeks ago and though I kept trying to pick it up to read a chapter here or there, I just can't get into it. I try so many books by this author because they always sound so cute, but I don't connect with the writing, so I don't think I'll be trying any more.
“I know I’m a mess. I’m not the best man. I’m not what you probably envisioned in a husband. I know I drive you crazy sometimes. But I want to spend the rest of my life figuring out how to be a man who deserves you, even if I’m doing so one mistake at a time.
My favorite of the series! I loved the two main characters- both are very likable with great chemistry💕. This whole series is a nice fluffy escape. Great narration.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Steam Level: 🔥 (kissing only) Trigger Warning: loss of a parent
Thayden Walker has been manipulated by his father his entire life. And now he's facing one last trick in his father's will: get married in three months or lose control of the family law firm. But Gavin doesn't want to get married and is quite content with the revolving door of women in his life. Enter Delilah Hart: southern belle and pageant queen who is broke as a joke. A marriage of convenience between these two seems like the perfect solution to both of their problems. That is until things start to feel real. Will they be able to keep things professional, or will they give in to the attraction building beneath the surface?
After the thirst trap known as Gavin in book 2, I was a little skeptical about Thayden being able to match that level of heat. Thankfully he lived up to the hype and is currently tied with Gavin for most desirable man in the Love Cliches series. Thayden is a player on the outside but deep down he's just a big cinnamon roll. I adored all his grand gestures as he worked to win over Delilah. And the chemistry and banter between these two was excellent. I also appreciated the fact that Delilah was smart and not just a pretty face. When it came time for the main conflict, I was a little nervous about how it would all go down. Thankfully, the characters handled it well, and I loved seeing drunk Abby steal the show with a scene that would surely go viral on social media. In true Emma St. Clair fashion we end with a sneak peek at book 4 which focuses on Harper and Chase. Once again I am super excited for the next story, especially knowing that my beloved Graham brothers from The Buy-In will be introduced. Bring on the man candy!
Thayden, introduced as Gavin's best friend in the previous book, is by all appearances a womanizer. Delilah, a member of the female friend group throughout this series, is struggling financially and has walls up at all times to protect herself. When Thayden's overbearing father passes away, his will stipulates that Thayden will only be able to take over the family law firm if he gets married. Despite him slowing down as far as relationships, this is the furthest thing from Thayden's mind. By a coincidental series of events, Delilah finds herself working as Thayden's dog sitter- very quickly finding herself conned into agreeing to so much more.
While Thayden was crass in , there was something endearing about him. As his layers continue to unfold, I found myself adoring him. I also enjoyed getting to know more about Delilah's mysterious childhood and watch her embrace her found family. The idea of the fake relationship trope has never made sense to me, much less been something I'd want to read. But at this point, I'll pretty much read anything from this author!
Also adored the Princess Bride reference- that entire scene was comedy gold!
This book was perfect for blocking out all the school I needed to do. The main character was even named Thayden, and I barely cringed at all! I was laughing through this entire book, it was also 3 am but whatever. Thayden was so cute, thoughtful, and a flirt but in a good way? I would 100% marry someone who watched Pride and Prejudice to woo me.
This was really cute! I started it on audio but the accents of the narrators weren’t working for me and finished on ebook. These two are adorable and I loved getting to see their love story unfold. The scene with the firemen made me chuckle a lot.
Romance, contemporary, clean but caveat some adult references, so PG-13; series, but stand alone read Delilah and Thayden's story is a cute rom/com that has such great moments. The best is how genuine it is. Totally genuine and heartfelt in the emotions and feelings. E.St.C does an excellent job getting the moments right. While this is a light read, it totally engrossed me and captivated my attention with all the details, and flow of the novel. Both Delilah and Thayden were such genuine, honest hearts. While Thayden has a past, he has character and this feeling of home as the novel progresses, and his real character speaks for itself as he falls for Delilah. Delilah's past that haunts her, the will, the contract, Thayden's Mom Elizabeth's moments, and of course the cute friend group, including newly married Zoey and Gavin were such complimentary, strong side characters as well. E.St.C. knows how to balance her characters. The cute ongoing chapter starts with the Romance Advice column is fun to continue as well, including the 'fake' letter moments. This was the perfect light contemporary romance, with all the sweet romantic moments and longing that make for my favorite kind of read. HEA with a dash of romance and lots of longing moments, and sweet stolen kisses and togetherness. Perfect escape, and can't wait to read Harper and Chase's story next! For me, this was the best book of this series. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review, my opinions are my own.
This. Was. Adorable!!!! Definitely more of a solid 4 ⭐️
This one was second to me in how much I loved all the story and character developments! I loved Thayden’s name, it reminds me of Lord of the Rings Theoden. I loved how he took such good care and consideration with EVERYTHING concerning Delilah. Just.. so much awww!!
I think she was too rough on him but he enjoyed it (which I don’t completely understand but Ig it was because it was refreshing compared to how women fell at his feet?) and she was using it as shield maybe? 🤷🏻♀
I do think it took forever for her to realize he was sincere, that was kinda boring lol but. All the trauma from her mama and her having to come to terms with it is understandable. The build up and the situation at the end with her mom not being addressed btw kinda fell flat(like Ig she was okay?? 😅) but Abby’s performance was def something 😂 the author for sure has a way with unfolding awkward and dramatic scenes that shouldn’t work but are hilarious and I very much enjoyed!!
There was a scene she addressed in an authors note, which I didn’t really think much of(see above note about “awkward but some may not have liked it) but I still appreciated what all she had to say about it and concerning her writing romance in general.
These characters complexities feel so real. I think that’s why, though it is very much cliche(the point right? I mean it’s in the series title lol!), it still made me want more. And her way with humor is beautiful 😂
Clean contemporary romance. Yes, the premise is pretty unbelievable but it made for a sort of completely fictional fairytale feeling that was just fun and a little fluffy. The female main character is cute and sweet. The male main character is Prince Charming and the fairy godmother blended into one Pinterest stalking package. Cinderella gets all of the happiness despite the wicked mother lurking in her backstory. It made me smile. A little violence. No sex. Mild language. Most of the little violence is described as childish antics akin to poking and pinching stuff but the way the author used it bothered me, physical violence is unacceptable in a relationship and should not be rewarded or joked about.
