The sea was the hero and was the theme in this novel .The renowned writer "Suhail Idris" did more than praise the novel , he said it parallels the works of other writers who adapted the sea as their theme .. the likes of Hemingway and Garcia - who both won a Nobel Prize - and that Hunna Meena should've won too ,if winning this prize isn't at some point biased to political views or other issues . Now I don't know 'bout him winning a Nobel Prize or not , am no critic ,but as a reader and a human being I absolutely loved the novel . I think it's a soothing book and a page-turner , not in a thriller kind of way ,but in a sweet rhythmic way that brings you back to Ahlam Moustghanmi and Nazar Gabbani , at least it did to me .
A narrative about the sea , about old Syria ,about family and about the lives of sailors and French and Turkish colonies in Syria . I read another by him before , but he took it to another level in this one , I think. It teaches you patience .. to weather the ups and the downs and wisdom , absolute wisdom .
