The Americans are afraid of their shadows, they're afraid of anything red, and they don't like anyone with a past. There's something unspeakable about how Abdul Rahman strings you along and fills you up and hangs you out to dry. He's got all the time in the world to tell you a tale of upper class dealings except, of course, he doesn't. He's got all the confidence in readers giving his books the effort they deserve except, of course, that's impossible to say, and not just because he's dead. The heads of the current generation in power have forgotten many things in the course of their obsession with the good ol' days of colonialism and pedagogy of the rod, and can't even find their way back to their so called vaulted origins with the highly abused concept of karma standing in their way. Why would you Euro-Christian types speak of a theological complexity beyond your reach when you have the word of hubris right at hand? Is it the god part that puts you off? I may be an atheist, but that's not from lack of listening.
In this country you can bury anything鈥攑eople, happiness, even honor. What's important are appearances.
