This book is written with emotions. They prevail, and I feel ambivalent about it. It was interesting reading about Saleh and what drove him to live in exile. You get inside his head and feel his suffering. He offers really good insights from the experiences he has lived. However, I think one of the things that did not work well is character development. The novel takes place in different times: the 50s, 60s, and 80s. I did not see how the main characters change during these times, except for one probably.
