Rate this book
In this book Kamala Silva tells the deeply moving story of how she met her Guru, and how Yogananda transformed her life―carefully guiding and nurturing his young disciple, directing her steps toward God, until she had grown greatly on the path of Self-realization. Included in this volume are many letters Yogananda had written to Kamala, early poems that later were published in Whispers from Eternity, and the story of how Yogananda was first inspired to create a new his revelatory commentaries on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Kamala also relates some of the uplifting spiritual experiences she had received through the agency of her great Guru. For those who have wondered what it would have been like to know Yogananda, and how the Master would have acted in personal moments and great occasions alike, The Flawless Mirror offers rare insights.

I'm so glad this is finally back in print! And in an easier-to-read font than the original printing, which is a plus. :-) This is a very sweet memoir from a direct and devoted disciple, and well worth a read for all devotees of Yogananda.

At times in the beginning it seems slow, and very vague or surface-level (e.g. quoting letters from Master in which he's just saying when he'll visit next). But stick with it and there are some real gems in there.

In particular, it's fascinating to read the variety of spiritual experiences she shares. Interesting, too, how she distinguishes between ones that occurred in dreams, waking, or in "conscious sleep."

The few dictations she included from Master at the end are also lovely. I particularly liked "I Found I Was Everything."

A superbly written book by a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda, the Indian Saint. The book details Kamala's experiences with Yogananda and gives another view of life with Yogananda. Kamala was a highly advanced soul herself and her spiritual experiences were incredible. A must read for lovers of Yogananda.
