Abanindranath Tagore (bn: 唳呧Μ唳`唳ㄠ唳︵唳班Θ唳距Ε 唳犩唳曕唳), was the principal artist of the Bengal school and the first major exponent of swadeshi values in Indian art. He was also a noted writer. He was popularly known as 'Aban Thakur'. Abanindranath Tagore was born in Jorasanko, Calcutta, to Gunendranath Tagore. His grandfather was Girindranath Tagore, the second son of Prince Dwarkanath Tagore. He is a member of the distinguished Tagore family, and a nephew of the poet Rabindranath Tagore. His grandfather and his elder brother Gaganendranath Tagore were also artists.
Had it as a textbook in class 8, it was, I think. Last 2 chapters were excluded from the syllabus. We were very relieved. Reading for pleasure though, was strangely liberating because every time I was making up all these exam questions in my head and congratulating myself for not having to write those answers in real life. Not sure if that makes sense. :P Abanindranath Tagore, dear man that he was, had beautiful pictures in his head. And man could he make them come alive in words. There were parts that made me despair in the beauty and sadness of the stories of these valiant rajput kings... the book is good for the soul. Do read.
Totally communal and racist view, and there's a good chance that if this book is read by young minds, they will be polluted permanently by parochial views. Disgusting!
The book contains stories of many Rajput kings who are equally passionate about the pride and responsibility as a Rajput king. However, it also depicts the betrayals in a family that has taken place for centuries in the name of protecting the throne or a promise made out of sheer loyalty. This book is for all ages to read. Abanindranath Tagore has beautifully crafted the stories and the flow of language is easy and simple to read.
Beautifully written. Every word is like a paint from brush. Actually based on Todd' s Book. Somebody may feel uncomfortable with some characters. Good.

"Children's Todd's Rajasthan Kahini" This should be the appropriate name to judge this book...though my Father(Dr.Amar Kumar Ghosal) who is a writer has written a book of the same name in Bengali in 1970s....& such was the demand of the book that each & every copy was sold out...not a single one remains till date nor could be found out anywhere.
