Returning to Rosings, Darcy tries to write a letter to Elizabeth but soon gives up the endeavor altogether. Instead, he turns to his cousin Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam for aide. After breaking their fast, Darcy and the Colonel go to the Parsonage. Where they learn Elizabeth has been called home to Longbourn, due to her father having a serious accident. Darcy and Richard decide to head to London. Darcy wants to correct some previous mistakes he made before he returns to Meryton. He is determined to win the approbation and love of Miss Elizabeth Bennett.
Once Elizabeth returns home and Mr. Bennett recovers, he decides to take his family on a vacation to Brighton.
Tragedy strikes once again ! And this one could ruin the entire family. Soon the majority of the Bennett’s are on their way to London to try and save their family’s honor.

“For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first. –Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

SPOILER ALERT: This review may contain *** Spoilers ***

>>Rating: Mature due to the violence and high body count, trigger warnings due to the descriptions of violence, death, insanity, and suicide. It seemed like everyone was shot or injured at some point.
>>Angst Level: all over the page. [ICNPID] I could not put it down and was up WAY past my bedtime before I crashed and burned.
>>Source: Borrowed from KU 1-31-23 with no expectations of a review. The views and opinions expressed are my own. Prologue + 33 chapters + Epilogue.
>>Trope: [1] death of major character[s], [2] Love at first sight. It was instant love as soon as their eyes met. Everyone was paired up by the end of the story. And, it was hinted that one couple anticipated their vows. Just saying. It was handled rather ‘matter of fact and it appeared that no one cared.

“I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you. –Friedrich Nietzsche

Talk about your OOC behavior. Dang! A message was stolen. It was, in fact, a VERY important message, and from that point on, Mr. Bennet was suddenly hit with a series of accidents that could have killed him. He was an intelligent man and quickly decided they were not accidents. If that were the case, then who could he trust?

“Friendship my definition is built on two things. Respect and trust. Both elements have to be there. And it has to be mutual. You can have respect for someone, but if you don’t have trust, the friendship will crumble. –Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

High body count, betrayal, death attempts, violence, secrecy, insanity, and greed. Those were the main components of this story. Who was after Mr. Bennet and why? There were many clues right from the start so the reader could begin to piece the puzzle together. That was really cool. What a story. I could not put it down. I finally crashed and went to bed.

What I didn’t like: the errors were terrible. English is apparently NOT a first language. Or it had been converted from another language or a voice-to-text writer. There were strange sentences, many incomplete, strange words that were similar but not right. It made for a weird sentence and confusion. Bennet was spelled Bennett. I don’t get it. I tried to ignore them because it was a creative story and I wanted to see how it ended. However, the errors only increased as the story progressed. It needed a major overhaul. Seriously. I still enjoyed the story.

DNF. I love murder mysteries and I love P&P, so I had to pick this up. Unfortunately, this book is not for me. I think it would be unfair to give it a star rating since I could not finish. I really did try to give it every chance, but the further I read, the less pleased I became. The writing style was not appealing to me and the characters and stories were becoming quite ridiculous so I decided to move on to greener pastures. I'm glad others found it enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this. It was absolutely crazy. Jane slapping people! The whole thing was nuts.

Reread: This was a really funny book.

DNF It has a 4 rating, so most people like it. But for me it was a huge disappointment. First, she rehashed the entire story of P & P for some pages. Then when the original plot started, I found plot and logic holes that were just too large to ignore. At this point I abandoned ship. Most people seem to like it. But my personal recommendation would be to stay far away.

such an interesting premise

It was really original idea which was super intriguing. We often see main characters go off cannon but this periphery family going off cannon was awesome! Well not really periphery but not one of the main characters. And what a ride it was!

The only want the only thing I would say is that the editing was really bad. It was fine that I read it as I speak and that’s how it was written. But there were so many miss spellings and half sentences and parts of sentences. Other than that I really enjoyed the story it was just fun and interesting and intriguing

Murder, lies, and intrigue. Be careful of who you call your friends. The book has a few typos like misspelling first several times in the last chapters. It also uses the word site instead of cite. It is a novel hard to put down. You will want to see who lives, dies, and how the crime spree is resolved.

Unusual

A very dark and unusual premise in this variation inspired by author Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice by Selene Garrou. I enjoyed it.

unique concept

A bit over the top villains that you wouldn’t have suspected, it was a creative story but poorly executed with some weird fonts with different colors , misused words and key characters with misspelled names.

Intriguing!

A very good plot that, while I think it it could have been told in less words, is engaging and entertaining.

wow.

Wow this was amazing. It blew away all the images I had in my mind when choosing this title.
The mayhem was so inventive I couldn’t put this book down. I loved it! I’m not going to give you anything as others can write about it. What I will say was this a rollercoaster ride and thrills made me happy. If a book can give me all that I’m so happy.

Such potential

Heed the warning. There appears to be no understanding of punctuation, possesives, pronouns, capitalization, or homophones, not to mention sentence structure or veb agreement (or adjective/noun agreement in a list...) or double-negatives. Which is a pity because there could have been potential in this story. It could have been humorous but I began to find more humor in the mistakes than in the story itself. I don't even care as much about the lack of character development as I do about the holes in the plot. Why all the waiting when things need to be done? And, for heaven's sake, WHY are there multiple instances of having all one's (good) eggs in the same (endangered) basket? Also, at least there was a reason for lack of an external fire, but given that, how could the evil ones not have set the insides on fire? Glad they did not but there seemed to be no reason they did not. Never have I made so many notes on errors in a book, but many were very consistent and the book was quite long.

I feel insulted

It is truly an insult to the reader when the author takes no time to proofread or edit her book. This book had poor grammar, bad spelling and horrible punctuation. It is as if the author dictated it to an AI and never bothered to read the outcome! The premise was interesting with a few good twists, but very annoying to read literally dozens (and I think over 100) of errors.

An intriguing plot in search of an editor.

This could have been an excellent mystery, with its many plot twists and turns, a plethora of villains, and multiple non-canon characters. However, it is spoiled by many homonyms, tons of tense changes from past to present to past again, constant punctuation errors, and "Bennet" is spelled with two "t"s throughout.
To me, as I wander through reading a story, commas, periods, apostrophes, and other punctuation marks point out appropriate "rest stops" on the pathway, but this author seems to sprinkle them around willy-nilly and does not appear to understand the difference between the possessive and the plural. A basic spellchecker and a halfway decent editor could have helped this author tremendously. It is too bad she did not even have good proofreader, because this story could have been a better contender.

A right mess

I have absolutely no issues with the plot of this story or the characters which include new individuals. The premise is that someone is trying to murder Mr Bennet and while unsuccessful they have actually killed several other people including some of the Bennet family. Fortunately the arrival of Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam, his Viscount brother, and a friend who is a Duke actually save the life of Mr Bennet, Elizabeth and Jane . After the rescue they overhead the criminals discussing their acts and planning to murder any remaining Bennet member. The goal is to eliminate all the Bennet family members and for the inheritance of a peerage by his heir - Mr Collins and his wife's family! Obviously the news that their closest friends are murdering their family is quite shocking to all. Who would have guessed that Charlotte Lucas Collins was an evil b-tch. There are several twists and a side story of Caroline Bingley ruining her entire family and almost causing the bankruptcy of Charles. I really enjoyed reading this story because it was quite unusual.
My biggest problem leading to only 3stars is the unbelievable amount of grammatical errors and the inability of the writer to properly use commas and period marks. There are sentences that are broken into several because she used periods instead of commas. It's almost unreadable, and in fact took me a while to even be able to read it without having to stop and start. If only the writer had actually read this story before pushing the publish button she would have caught it. Some reviewers are excusing this but I can't because its basic English that is taught in elementary schools across the country. My hope is that this writer find a way to correct this for this story and edit any further stories before sending them into the world.

story/idea is great but many writing flaws

Story/idea/plot is great. It was well thought out and some very original ideas. From a story POV only, I liked it a lot and it was an enjoyable/entertaining read. I always love stories where the Bennets are elevated in rank and I thought the murder twist/mystery twist was very well done. I would give this idea and plot 5 stars.

However this story is in DIRE need of editing. There are many, many typos, incorrect word choices (except vs accept, etc), sentence fragments used as full sentences, missing letters/words, crazy and odd use of punctuation, etc. The actual writing “quality is quite poor and very distracting. It takes away from the enjoyment of reading and of being able to follow the story in flow.

In addition, there is a major design problem on this e-book. This book has chapter titles (which I like) however they are typeset (and programmed in so you can’t change it) using a very curly script font and it is typeset in ALL CAPS. It is impossible to read, looks awful, and is extremely distracting and discordant. For the editing problems and the design problems alone, I want to give this story only a 1.

So I split the difference.

If you don’t mind the technical stuff the story is enjoyable and surprising and everyone who should get their comeuppance, does, and lots of HEAs. The romance and relationship stuff of Elizabeth and Darcy as well as the various other characters is not the focus of this story.

Honestly, I didn't even get through the Kindle sample. In the first few pages I saw not only the misspelling of the protagonist's family name (it's Bennet, not Bennett--I had hoped it was just a typo in the title, but no), but also several fragmentary sentences (ex: "As Meryton is only one mile off the Great Road."), wildly fluctuating verb tense, a reference to a geographical feature that does not exist ("the Hertfordshire river"--there are several rivers in Hertfordshire, but none are named after the county), and at least one plural written as a possessive. Oh, and a solicitor was referred to as a tradesman, when anyone writing in this genre should know that the law was considered a gentlemanly profession.

Long, but entertaining

This is a very long read, but it was not boring in the least. There are quite a few new characters in the book, but I didn't really become too confused about them until the ending of the book, (where it didn't matter to me).
It was very entertaining to find out who the bad folks were, and just how evil they were. Poor Mr. Collins was just too foolish to even know his head from his toes.
This author is a great story teller, and has a great imagination. I've read her other books, and I look forward to reading her next work.
The book could use an editor, due to the mistakes made, but it didn't really take anything from the story.

I really enjoyed the story although the romance between all the couples was crazy! The errors mentioned in other reviews were annoying but I still couldn't put it down. I did nothing but read this book all of yesterday!
Right after I started reading another book by this author-
To wake the sleeping dragon. The errors and sentence structure are much improved (although there are still some). I don't know which book was written first. I had to force myself to go to bed last night at 65%. Similar "love at first sight" for ALL the characters which is ridiculous but so far it is also a great story.

Intriguing story

Story line was we!l thought out and kept my attention. I could barely put it down; I was so enthralled with each new twist in the story.
I gave it only a 2or 3 Star because the English grammar was atrocious. Because I am a fast reader, I was able to understand the story fairly well even though the grammar was so bad. Obviously, no one proof read this manuscript or it's poor sentence structure and use of incorrect spelling of homophones would have been corrected.

a happy yarn

I really enjoyed MURDERING MR. BENNETT. The pacing was good, as were most of the situations and characters. I enjoyed the diversions from canon. And all the good persons got their HEA. 😃😉

What is prompting this review is the extreme need for a copy editor. There were many times the wrong word was used, or misspelled, and many times where homonyms are written, i.e. pass for past (or passed); accepting instead of excepting.

But in general, I enjoyed this P&P variation.

5 Stars!/

Excellent story telling! I still give it 5 stars even though the absolutely horrendous editing, specifically the use of periods! What the devil was that about? How did that happen? On every single page at the least 5 times, a period was used when a comma or more likely no punctuation was required! Made it difficult to read and understand quite a few passages. Please correct this! Really screws up the reading!

But even after all that, what a fantastic story!!!

Not what I expected

This was a good read. I felt it was a little too long. There were many surprises even after we learned who the bad guys were in the story. The other surprise was the change or rather growth development of some of the characters. I enjoyed being able to know other’s thoughts and feelings/thoughts.
I do recommend this book and challenge you not to skip ahead. You will miss a detail or humorous moment.

Well, that was fun

I'm slightly annoyed and surprised that I enjoyed a Pride and Prejudice variation with so few Darcy and Elizabeth interactions, but I did. Very much so.

There were a few questionable moments, however, that didn't stop me from appreciating this entertaining storyline. I wasn't ready for it to end.

This is not a romance novel, although Cupid is still at work. Many pairings lead to an HEA.

I look forward to seeing what else this author has in store for me.

engaging story but awful writing

Dear author, please, please take the advice, so many others have given you in their reviews. It’s a great story, but I couldn’t decide if you were writing a children’s story or these were your notes for a novel you were going to flesh out later. Please rewrite it and I’ll happily read it again and maybe even purchase it

Yes!

Yes you want to read this. Do you want a great murder mystery? This kept me wanting to more. I can not like Charlotte in this one...oh my...or her family. Shakes head.
Why would anyone want to hurt Bennett?
What a nice surprise.

Good idea - too many side plots and say too long.

I nearly gave up chapter 1. I found there were too many side plots - why not use them to create other books.
Some of the paragraph are badly written and not read your title font. If the book was have the length it was he a much better read.

Good story but so, so many typos

I came to believe that English could not be the native language of the author or editor. This book has more typos and grammatical errors than any ebook I have ever read. Then all the chapter heads are in all caps in a very swirly script that made it extremely difficult to make out the actual words. An real chore to read in places.

Great story line, great need of proofreading

This is a compelling story, but the writing is dreadful. I suggest to Ms. Garrou that she take some classes in English and composition. Her sentence structure and punctuation are terrible. Her misuse of words is laughable. She confuses tenses in the same sentence. Ms. Garrou, please keep writing but hire a good proofreader.

Fun

Yes, there is a lot wrong with this book. There are many writing errors and characters fall instantly in love. But, this book is very entertaining and hard to put down. This author has a good story and that is most important. Improving writing will come. I really enjoyed this and it was worth the read. I would read it again!
