In Arabophone literature, Ibrahim Al-Koni is one of the most unique authors I know. His writing is magical and spellbinding, and his world-building is like no other. In his novel A Home in The World and A Home in Nostalgia we discover the relationship between humanity, the nomadic desert life, and civilization. It tells the story of a nomad man as he changes his life by trying to build a sedentary life in an oasis, then his quest for a legendary treasure in the desert. By doing so, we're introduced to a magical world where the jinn and humans coexist. I loved reading this novel, and I loved being entranced by its world. Al-Koni's language is truly brilliant, and sometimes it reads as spells. So I can't recommend this novel enough.
