Sai Baba: Man of Miracles

Rate this book
India has always nurtured true yogins--those who have transcended the lower self, those in whom wonder-working powers of siddhis have flourished. These powers, or some of them, have been brought into the research laboratories of the para-psychologists who call them extra-sensory perception and psycho-kinesis. Others call them miracles. Whatever the terminology, such powers and their practitioners demand sensible attention. This account relates some of the achievements of one of the most impressive men of miracles to appear in centuries. Satya Sai Baba--his followers believe him to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi who died in 1918--appears to have been born with phenomenal powers, which he used in childhood and has employed constantly and openly ever since. They include all the varieties of E.S.P. and P.K. known to psychic science and more besides. The author, a Westerner devoted to science and logic, spent many months with Satya Said Baba; he claims to have found that his "unscientific," "illogical" miracles were, in fact, genuine yogic siddhis. He found, too, that along with Christ-like miraculous powers went a Christ-like love, compassion and the God-knowledge that opens the door to a new vision of life.

Phyllis Krystal was born in London, England in 1914. She graduated from Bishop Otter College in Chichester and taught at the high school level for three years before moving to the United States. There, she married Sidney Krystal, a prominent Los Angeles attorney. They had two daughters, one of whom gave them a granddaughter and a grandson. Mrs. Krystal was a widow from 1993 until her death in 2016. In 2004, at the age of 91, she moved to Munich,Germany and at the age of 95 moved again to Zurich in Switzerland.

In the late 1950s, Mrs. Krystal and a close friend embarked on an experiment to make regular contact with an inner source of wisdom, which they eventually called the Hi C for Higher Consciousness. Since then, by consulting the Hi C, a visualization method involving the use of symbols has evolved. These techniques can be used to help those who wish to release from attachment to - or reliance on - any outer security or control, thereby freeing the individual to seek help and guidance from the Hi C rather then from these outer sources.

For more than 25 years, Mrs. Krystal has given seminars in numerous countries - primarily in Europe - to share the method. In addition she has offered individual sessions to outline a program for achieving more personal freedom.

As word of this method spread, Mrs. Krystal received numerous requests to put it down in writing so the techniques could continue to help others, if and when she is no longer available.

"...And you find it difficult to believe in miracles? I, on the contrary, find it easy. They are to be expected. The starry world in time and space, the pageant of life, the processes of growth and reproduction, the instincts of animals, the inventiveness of nature...they are all unbelievable, miracles piled upon miracles..."
And thus begins Howard Murphet's brilliant book on Swami. This came to me at a time when I needed it the most. If you're a Seeker, this will strengthen your faith; or if you're skeptical, you will just consider it to be a very well written work of fantastic fiction. It was a life altering read for me. Now I'm on a quest to find a precious copy for my bookshelf!
