I am not normally a fan of nonfiction - give me stories and fun characters and rings that turn you invisible. *cough* But this book was way better than I thought it was going to be, and I immensely enjoyed it. I highly recommend that every teen read it.

*As I've finished this book, I've also completed my Reading Challenge! Hooray!*

I greatly enjoyed this book! It caused me to deeply consider my own prayer habits, and after reading I feel like I took quite a bit of useful information away. I recommend this book to anyone looking to change their prayer life.

This book took me a while to read only because I am in a show right now and have had very little time to read. There were many parts of this book where I was like "I totally disagree with her views." That's fine-everyone has their own opinions-there were just somethings that I didn't agree on. On a better note this book made me realize different ways to pray and had some prayer tips too. I would recommend this book to teens, I just would warn them that they might not agree with some things mentioned.

A pretty great book... I loved the way it was written; it almost felt as if the author was actually talking to just you, and not to thousands and thousands of kids. I also liked the prayer examples at the end of each chapter. To me, they were helpful in learning how to put words to what I feel and want to pray about. Things I didn't so much like: mostly the fact that she doesn't use the KJV - which means I had to look up verses all the time, and that distracted me from the actual reading. (I did love that she used a lot of Scripture, just not that she didn't use the KJV).

This is one of my favorite devotionals that I've yet to read! I'm not a teen anymore but I still go back to my heavily marked copy my mom bought me years ago to re-read and reflect! Very well written and wonderful layout. Only strange thing for me was that I expected to book to be about prayer when in fact it talks about many subjects. I would recommend this book to everyone, even non-teens. :) I give it 5 stars!

This book really makes you think about how you live your life. It shows us many different ways to become a better Christian. This book is also very easy to relate to. I really like how this book talks about different types of teens, and how you can help those teens who are going through a rough time.

I like the approach used in this book. It is inspiring and helpful. Even more motivating are the experiences of Stormie Omartian. One can never discount that-- how a painful story leads to victory in God, with God and through God. Thumbs up!

I think that this book is a great book for Christians who are want to advance their prayer life or new Christians. I learned some new things in this book that I now incorporate into my prayers that I didn’t think about before. I only am rating it 4 stars because I feel like some of her points when she has list of reasons can be repetitive. I also think some of the verses she chooses to support her points do not fully align with the meaning God intended them to have. In other words, she is taking a fraction of a greater story that the verse was in.

This is a very good book: inspiring, relevant, very good stuff. Stormie has a lot of wisdom to impart. She's a very godly woman who we can all learn a lot from, with a good grasp and understanding of Christianity. And she doesn't beat about the bush either! Clear, concise, and easy to read. Very helpful, encouraging, and enlightening. And super inspiring. :)

Anyway, I highly recommend this book! Especially if you're feeling a little lost in your prayer life, or want to know more about prayer--how to pray, what to pray, who to pray for, what to pray about. I wouldn't recommend handing it to just any teenager who isn't a Christian, because it's not written to TELL teens the Gospel, but to encourage and give sound advise about prayer and how it relates to the life of teens who already believe in God and Christ. :)

One final note: Prayer is a powerful thing!

Was given this as a teenager budding in Christ and it really helped me get closer to God through prayers. I loved this book and the activities at the end of each chapters. As a teen, it hooked me and sucked me into praying. :) Which is, of course, a good thing. :D

Stormie Omartian is a New Age-influenced, false teaching-influenced, therapized woman with some issues. She has very little understanding of the Bible and Holy Spirit. What she says on repentance and forgiveness is good, but where is Jesus? She believes things such as 1)praying will empower or give you power 2)His voice speaks to our heart 3) don't miss out on good things, God has your best interests in mind 4) good health, success, easy life free of temptation, world peace, saving people are acceptable topics to pray to God 5) give God your burden 6) God will lift you above your difficult situations 7) you can limit God in disobedience 8) prayer is about your "needs" and feelings and opinions 9) God measure your prayers by how important they are to you 10) results from prayers take time 11) He will give you a new life you will enjoy so much that you won't want to travel back in your mind to the old one 12) loving God is easier than loving man 13) flow of the Holy Spirit will carry us wherever WE need to go 14) the devil hates it when you quote the Bible 15) the devil can't be around praise 16) just stop listening to negative thoughts 17) praise and reading the Bible is magic against negative feelings. Go watch Hardcore Christianity on Youtube. 1) Godhead has all the power, not the asker 2) He speaks to us through scriptures and His testimony first most, not feelings and experience 3) focus on self, not on missing out on God 4) all of those are earthly and Satanic and not according to scripture 5) you need to take up Jesus' burden 6) God will never let you rise above your circumstances in a New Age manner. He will go through it with you. Jesus came to suffer. He is Immanuel, God with us. 7) God is not limited, He just doesn't do certain things when there's unrepented sin 8) go to Lord's Prayer. Some of your needs are Satanic, of the flesh. It's God who must be glorified. 9) God measures your prayers by whether they are according to His Will 10) Daniel 10:12-13 11) John 16:33 12) 1 John 4:20, 1 John 3:10 13) Acts 1:8, John 3:8 14) The devil loves to spread false doctrine and distort the Word. You must quote the Bible with faith and understanding to defeat him. Be a serious student of the Bible 15) the devil was the worship leader. He is leading you away from Christ with music from Hillsong, Bethel, Jesus Culture, Lauren Daigle, etc. 16) watch Hardcore Christianity on Youtube. You must fight facts and lies with the Truth of the Word of God. You can't ignore them. 17) There are seriously mentally ill Christians. They are that way because of demons, and those must be cast out. Jesus called deliverance "the children's bread."

I bought two copies of this book to give my boys (14 and 12) for Christmas. I read it to preview and it’s not what I was hoping for. It’s not very engaging or interesting. I was hoping for more real life examples I guess. This book is wordy and repetitive. I know it won’t hold the interest of my 12 year old and it barely holds my interest so I can’t see my 14 year old reading the whole thing. I really don’t think I’ll give it to them to be honest, I’ll find something more interesting they might actually read. I’m surprised it has 4.8 stars on Amazon. For an adult, I would give it 3-4 stars but for the intended audience, I only give it 2 stars.

I did this study with my teenage daughter, and while it had EXCELLENT points and references, an abundance of scripture, it needs to be updated for today’s teen. It was published in 2005, before kids were a presence on social media, so it doesn’t have any wise words for teens in regards to their social media and how detrimental it can be to a teenager. Personally, my kid doesn’t have any, but I know so many who do.
We unpacked a lot of the scripture, and the suggested prayers were perfect for getting her started in her own prayer life and life of study.

This book was really hard to get through and it took me a while, and even as I write this review I have some prayers I skipped over and need to go back to. It challenged me at times but there were also chapters that were so easy it was laughable. It all depended on where my faith was strong and where it was weak.

Overall, I would totally recommend this to any teen who's working their way along in their faith journey. This was sent to me by my spiritual mentor and I'm so grateful for that because it's exactly what I needed at this time in my life. Teens, this book's for you!!

I would absolutely recommend this book to all teens. It does an excellent job at giving examples of what to pray for, how to pray, why you should pray for that specific thing, and what the Bible has to say about that topic and prayer in general. Excellent book!

While I think some teens will find the design of this book to be a bit cheesy, the content is really solid. The topics are foundational and the teaching is biblical and engaging. This would be a great book to work through with a teen mentee or one’s teen child.

Brilliant book, very well referenced to the Bible for a teenager to assimilate. Even though I'm in my late teen years there was much I learned from this. It should be a compulsory read for Catechism!
