SPOILER WARNING

A trashterpiece of epic proportions! I could read this series forever, so it's definitely sad to see it end; however, surely it's good news for all of the fictional characters who would have died at the hands of Ariana in books to come!

One of the things that has made Ariana sympathetic (aside from the books being told from her perspective, forcing our complicity) is that each of her past crimes had a panicked, frightened feel to it. They came out of uncontrollable rage and terror. However, the methodical and titularly cruel manner in which Lexa is dispatched towards the beginning of this entry puts an end to that. Ariana is completely lost and unredeemable by any means after that point. The dwindling sympathy of the reader switches to revulsion, and things just keep getting creepier as Ariana stalks Reed and Dr. Meloni, two of her oldest and most formidable foes.

The conclusion is chilling. It reads a tiny bit like the way one "dies" in a Choose Your Own Adventure book, as a matter of fact, which probably just reinforces the feeling and overall trashiliciousness of the experience.

Again, it's bizarre to be reading about Reed and Noelle two years in the future, and then to revert back to the Private series conclusion in a few months. One noticeable issue is that Privilege seems to be much more set in the original feel of the Private universe. After all, Reed uses a gun here, not a spell. So where is Private going with the witchcraft thing and how the hell is this all going to end?

Mind you, it would be much better if it didn't end at all!

Don't give it a one star. Don't give it a one star.

Okay. One word to sum this book up: Disappointing. Horrible. F***ed. And on and on and on.

HOW COULD SHE END THE SERIES LIKE THAT?!?! Just...HOW!? Did she think we'd love it still? Because one thing I know for sure is that I don't love it anymore. She made this series about Ariana (idk if that's her name for sure) and of course I've grown to love her! Then BAM! She kills her off. But not only does she die at the very freaking end, but Reed killed her. Her worst enemy! I think that made me hate dislike this book even more. Ugh, I'm so angry! I sure don't like Reed anymore, either.

You know what, I'm not even going to go on about how much I hate--err--dislike this dang book. If I knew my favorite girl was going to die that - way too? I mean, at least something not so...bad. I don't know! And poor Jasper): Where's the happy ending? I actually want a happy ending now!

So if you want to waste your time reading this book, only to be disappointed in the end, go for it. I warned you. Gosh. I don't even know if I should continue with her Private series (even though I'm on book 14 or somethingthat starts with a V).

***TL;DR SPOILERY PLOT OVERVIEW***

Unfortunately for Ariana, Lexa Greene survived her suicide attempt and she plans to tell her parents everything. Ariana can't have that, so she kills Lexa by injecting her IV catheter with a syringe full of air. Ariana is elected president of Stone & Grave in the wake of Lexa's death, while Palmer grows increasingly hostile toward her. Ariana's attempt to kill Reed Brennan is unintentionally foiled by none other than Noelle Lange, and Ariana has another enemy to contend with when Dr Meloni from the Brenda T shows up on campus to act as a grief counselor.

It all culminates in a showdown on the night of Briana Leigh Covington's birthday. Ariana bludgeons Dr Meloni to death in his own home, but not before he pierces her side with a letter opener. Bleeding heavily and watching her carefully constructed life fall apart, Ariana makes plans to flee the country with Jasper. There's just one thing she has to take care of first: Reed Brennan. Ariana ambushes Reed in her Georgetown dorm, ending with Ariana taking a bullet to the chest. Ariana wakes up in a hospital bed surrounded by Reed, Jasper and Noelle. Noelle take Reed's side as Ariana goes into cardiac arrest, quickly passing away.

***END SPOILERY PLOT OVERVIEW***

Before I offer my thoughts on this series as a whole, I'll go through and review this book individually.

I took issue with Palmer suddenly becoming majorly flawed in Pure Sin, but I enjoyed watching him become a villain in Cruel Love. He'd gone from being a narrow-minded boring guy to a fully-fledged asshole ex-boyfriend, emotionally abusing Ariana and resorting to catty high school antics. My only regret is that he didn't meet a nasty end; his hate campaign fizzled out and he just disappeared. I wish he'd gone head to head with Ariana, where she could've unleashed hell and reduced him to either a boy or a bunch of severed body parts.

I was surprised by Lexa's death and enjoyed how it propelled the story along, but I found the circumstances to be far-fetched. Lexa was obviously recovering from massive injuries, but I just don't see how Ariana could've slipped on surgical gloves and inserted a syringe into Lexa's IV catheter without her noticing. Even with Lexa's eyes closed, surgical gloves are difficult things to put on - even more so without making a sound! Nevertheless, it ensured their secret stayed buried and served as a catalyst for Dr. Meloni's appearance on campus.

And when it comes to Dr. Meloni, boy am I fucking glad he met his end. I first empathised with Ariana during her sessions with him, wanting to punch him in the mouth or throw my Kindle across the room everytime he belitted Ariana. He's one of the more loathsome male characters I've come across outside a Stephen King novel, and I almost thought we would never hear from him again after Beautiful Disaster. The author placing him at APH was a total stretch, but I enjoyed watching Ariana's mental state deteriorate and him meeting a grisly demise.

Speaking of grisly demises, UGH WHY CAN'T SOMEONE JUST KILL REED BRENNAN ALREADY?! We've had 14 books of someone trying to kill Reed, only for her to emerge in the Privilege series two years in the future and survive yet again. Ignoring the fact that she's a dull and irritating character, how the hell is it so hard to off a teenage girl? Usually it's the villains that are seemingly invincible, but all we got was a poor little rich girl.

All that aside, I wish I could have seen the events following Ariana's death. I'd love to see how APH and Stone & Grave came to terms with being taken for a ride by 2 teenage murderesses. I'd love to see how much the police could piece together and how they'd explain away Ariana's second death. I'd like to know what happens to Briana Leigh Covington's fortune, and if anyone would ever discover the secret lying beneath the Greene's rosebushes. I'd like to know how Noelle and Reed coped with Ariana's return, and if they've still bought into that magic bullshit. I'd also like to know if Maria was ever permitted to be a dancer, and if her and Landon ever went public with their relationship.

Okay now I can get to reviewing the overall series!

Oh man, I can't believe the series is over. Ariana is gone. I don't know what it says about me that I got emotionally attached to a teenage psycho, but I did. I failed to connect with Reed throughout any of the 13 Private books (haven't read the 14th yet!) but I instantly bonded with Ariana during . Kate Brian somehow made me empathise with Ariana, relate to her, and even champion her on her missions to kill Kaitlynn, Dr Meloni and Reed Brennan!

There's something strange about Ariana, I know she's taking lives and doing all these horrible things but I wanted her to succeed so badly. I wanted her to have a fabulous life as Briana Leigh Covington, running off into the sunset with Jasper and having a stupidly normal life as Mrs. Jasper Montgomery. I wanted her to lead the Stone & Grave society to glory and excel in her studies at Princeton. Hell, I even wanted her to kill douchey Reed Brennan since we have 14 books worth of proof that nobody else is capable of doing so.

It's like when you watch a TV show from beginning to end, and when you're done you think "okay what do I do with my life now?" You've just spent hours, days or weeks absorbed by these storylines, these characters, these universes, and then they're just gone. I've spent 11 months off and on with these characters, so that's exactly how I feel. I've spent almost an entire year with this series, so the idea that I have no more Easton or APH adventures to look forward to is sad!

I've voiced my issues with some of the Private books in their respective reviews, but I look back on the Privilege series with fondness. I loathed the main character in Private, and often found the books poorly paced and poorly written. For me Privilege was on a whole 'nother level, with a main character I could (disturbingly) relate to, adventures that had me on the edge of my seat, and generally just higher quality writing. I couldn't in good faith recommend the Private series as a whole, but would recommend Privilege in a heartbeat. <3

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!

Wow. Although Ariana Osgood was a pshycotic serial killer, I admired her. She was so smart. She had her back up plans. She remained composure. She lied. She kept her secret so well, she killed each person so wisely and all of it seemed so easy at time. Except for the last book.

When she killed Lexa after she survived that's when I stopped seeing Ariana as amazing. The other books make it seem like she's just smart. But she was crazy. In this book it's revealed that she was obsessed with killing people, and I thought that after she got rid of all of her problems and started her future it would all be done and the past would be behind her but no. She was mentally ill. Ever since her childhood, she never would have stopped killing. She even considered killing Palmer for threatening her Stone and Grave title. Jasper for knowing a secret about her and Lexa. In the future she would've continued to kill left and right. She was obsessed. She had a problem. She needed to have been put down.

And I love the fact that she died on the hands of Noelle and Reed. Not only does Reed get the revenge that she probably had sought for, but now Reed and Noelle will get to hear about how she snuck out of jail. Took the identity of someone else. How she got into the school that everyone dreamed of. How she had straight A's. How she snagged a beautiful and adventurous boyfriend. How she made friends, how she created a beautiful ensured life for herself. I'm happy they get to see how she was the first president of the Stone and Grave who was a newbie. I want them to see how successful she was.

But I feel so bad for Jasper. Jasper, oh sweet Jasper. He was in the room when they killed her off. He was ready to go out of the continent with Ana no questions asked. Of course he had some hesitation but he loved her to such a great extent. He was waiting at that airport for her. He did love her. It's so sad he had to get his heart broken that way.

Everyone will realize that Palmer was right to have his suspicions. All her friends are probably going to cry their souls out. Knowing they were hugging and loving a girl who took their bestfriend, who was the cause of all of the turmoil in the school. They trusted a serial killer and they will probably feel disgusted and horror. This might hurt them all emotionally.

It ended. It finally ended. Ariana is gone. I feel bad it all had to go down like this, I wish that Thomas Pearson and her never crossed paths. But who said she wouldn't have killed someone else? She did kill two people that christmas. Then I wish that she didn't have all that problems at home. She would've been really successful. But what if the fact that she had problems at home gave her that motivation to be successful.

Oh Ariana Osgood. The most interesting character I've ever read in my life.

I was actually sad to see this series end. Even though my blood pressure would skyrocket as I read about Ariana's secrets and cover-ups to her murders, it became fascinating to watch how Ariana always managed to "land on her feet" (in her words). It was also interesting to try understand a psychopath's thought process. Here she was, with everything going right, everything in life just waiting for her to reach out and grab it, but her obsession with covering up her tracks and killing the one person she blamed for everything ended up being her undoing.

SPOILERS:

I somehow got sucked in to reading this series about a female teenage sociopath and man was it ever fun! I read the whole series in a week or so. I still miss them!

This series is for anyone who is seeking a YA series about..well..a sociopath. Female. And batshit crazy.

The Privilege series is just great. I wish the author would write more of them honestly. I had a field day reading these books.

This one had a power punch of an ending! Kudos for a great end to a great series! I cannot believe how addicted to this series I got. I liked them more then the Private series.

Bittersweet for sure - not only have I finished my reread of the Private and Privilege series, I have also read all of Kate Brian’s books, so while I’m happy to have completed one of my reading goals for 2019, I’m sad to say goodbye to these two intense series. Plenty of crazy stuff happened in this book, and I love Jasper. He’s a charming mix of both sweet and snarky. Is it wrong that part of me wanted Ariana to get away with it all? As much as I love Reed, somehow I related more to Ariana in this one. Also, I don’t think that a college would allow a student to have a gun in a dorm room. That seemed really far fetched. I loved the cameo from Noelle, and I was really hoping that Kiran survived her push into the river. At this point, I’ve lost track of how many people Ariana has killed. She is one crazy chick!

***SPOILERS ALERT!***
Ok, wow. I finished the last 2 books of this series in the same day. I don't really think it's because they were just so good that I refused to stop, but because in the end I wanted to say I'M FREE!

Haha, so yes, I was very excited to finish the series because I'm FREE. I mean, I've been stuck with Brian's books since the beginning of summer all the way to November! I read a couple of other books along the way, but I had never fully completed the Private/Privilege series until today. November 10th, 2012. You guys, this is an honorable day.

Ok, I'm just kidding. Because I really did love Brian's series. Private was much better than Privilege, in my opinion, but Brian is still a really great author. I suppose I was just ready to move on to new writings, new authors, and all of that. Of course it would end with Reed Brennan killing Ariana. Oh, the irony. It's great, though. So the magic Reed had really didn't mean nothing! In one of my other reviews, I had written about how it felt as if it was all for nothing after that one particular novel, but apparently not!

Okay, on to this book in specifics. This book was the END of the Private/Privilege series, incredulously. So was I expecting it to be as it was? Well...it wasn't a bad ending. It really wasn't. Could it have been better? Yes. There were still tons of unanswered questions from Private, but I already wrote about those in the last book of the Private series. With this series...hmm.

Privilege ALWAYS gave me a very strange feeling. Brian managed to make me feel...guilty after finishing these books! I mean, I felt like I was a killer, like I was Ariana, which always shocked me until I reminded myself of who I really was, and that I was sane. That was how into some of these books I got into. In this book in particular I got into that mood also, which is great because it shows that Brian is a very talented author.

One thing I really liked about this book was that the ending consisted of a look-back to Reed and Noelle. That was a good decision, in my opinion! It was disappointing that Kiran was killed, but that was what made that one book so shocking, I suppose. But anyways, I predicted the ending for Ariana to be different! I guessed that the police would catch her, not that she would die in a hospital bed. I mean, it was pretty obvious she was going to die. She killed like a bazillion people!

Well maybe not a bazillion. But a lot! And it made me sick to read about them. If you guys read this book also, then we were basically in the mind of a damn made-up murderer...scary.

I rate this particular book 4 stars, and the series 3 stars in total. The 5th book was definitely my least favorite of the series, and the...4th, I believe?...was my favorite by far, earning 5 stars. As you can tell, I had my ups and downs with this series. It's probably not a book I would re-read, to be honest...it gives me too much of a "I'm guilty!" type of feeling.

I wish Brian had included a epilogue, though! To show what eventually happened to Jasper, Palmer, Maria, Soomie, Noelle, Reed, all of them! I didn't want it to end with more unanswered questions. :( I'm going to stay on the bright side, though, and say I'm just so excited to finally be able to move on to other books. As I said earlier (sorry for being repetitive), this is not a bad series but it just felt so darn LONG! I always remember, during the Private series I would always be like "JUST LET ME FINISH ONE MORE CHAPTER!" whenever someone would annoy me, haha.

So, yeah. I guess that's all I have to say about these books. Crazy that it's finally at an end. I definitely recommend Private to everyone, and Privilege if you really loved Private.

Thanks for reading my review! :)

In the final jaw dropping Privilege novel, Ariana Osgood will face her fate. I was anxiously awaiting this novel since about October when I read and reviewed the two previous books in the series. Although I was confused with the timing of this book coming out before the final PRIVATE novel which is set to come out in the fall (it doesn’t make sense chronologically) I was still very excited to see what would happen to Ariana.

In this last installment, we pick up right where we left off. Ariana’s new best friend Lexa Greene is in the emergency room after throwing herself through a glass roof after keeping one of Ariana’s secrets. Ariana doesn’t know what to do. All she knows is that she wants to kill Reed. Reed is the reason Ariana has had to change her whole life. Reed is the reason that Ariana has had to kill both enemies and friends. Ariana knows that if she kills Reed, all of those deaths will be avenged.

But in the midst of planning to kill Reed, Ariana faces a new problem. Dr. Meloni, the psychologist from prison is on Easton’s campus. And every student has a mandatory meeting scheduled with him. Ariana knows that if she has to talk to Dr. Meloni, the jig will be up. Now Ariana has two deaths to plan, and a limited amount of time to do it.

Oh my goodness. What a ride Kate Brian has taken readers on throughout the PRIVATE and PRIVILEGE series. Before I started this book, I had this little inner struggle with myself. Something I’ve mentioned in other reviews of the PRIVILEGE series is how well Kate Brian makes readers root for Ariana even though she is a criminal. Before I began reading, I tried to decide if I hoped Ariana would get away with everything and continue to live a semi-normal life, or if I had hoped she would finally, finally get caught. I didn’t come to a decision.

But somewhere in the first 20-30 pages, I thought to myself enough is enough. Ariana has killed enough people. After this latest shocking killing, I cringed as I read on. These books really have gotten very graphic and very cruel. Definitely not the direction I had expected when I first began the PRIVATE series about two years ago.

I like that in this book, Ariana is less confident than in the past. Usually, Ariana feels like she has control, or if she doesn’t have control, she quickly gains it. In CRUEL LOVE, Ariana feels hopeless at points in the book. It seems like her lies are unraveling. Her ex-boyfriend Palmer is suspicious of her. Lexa is dead. Kiran’s body is found. She’s finally the queen bee at school, but with no one left to worship her. It’s satisfying to see Ariana worry for once.

Even though these books have gotten darker and darker with each new installment, I was once again completely engrossed and lost in Ariana’s seriously messed up world for a good three hours as I raced through the book. I don’t know what it says about me that I absolutely LOVE this crazy series, but I’m okay with it. Even though I definitely don’t agree with Ariana’s decisions, it’s sometimes fun to get into the mind of the bad girl.

After finishing the book, I’ve decided that I didn’t have any empathy for Ariana in CRUEL LOVE. In past books, I’ve definitely felt for her- even rooted for her, but this book took things too far. I think Kate Brian did this on purpose, and expertly too. I won’t say anything more. Without giving anything away, I feel very satisfied with how the book ended.

Now to wait until the final PRIVATE book comes out!

Cruel Love is the sixth and final book in the Privilege series.

In Cruel Love, Ariana Osgood (under the guise as Briana Leigh Covington) once again has to fight for her new privileged life. When her false life starts to unravel due to her previous actions, she decides to take actions. After Lexa's unfortunate death, Ariana rises to the top of Atherton-Pryce Hall and is guarenteed an admission into Princeton, but when Dr. Meloni, the psychologist from the prison. starts working as a grief counseller to the students, Ariana realizes that her life is still in danger. And when she happens to catch sight of Reed Brennan one day, she starts to believe that all the murders that happened because of her can be justified if Reed just died. It also doesn't help that her friends are all becoming suspicious of her new erratic behaviour. So what does Ariana do? She takes matters in to her own hands. Ariana would do anything to keep her life, including murder.

This was probably the most exciting 200 page book that i've read in a long time.

Right away, it starts with Ariana and her friends in the hospital waiting to hear the results for her friend Lexa. There's no building up, right away in the first chapter, there's a huge fights between Ariana and Palmer which builds the tension and really made me feel the anxiety that Ariana was going through.

Kate Brian does a really good job with allowing the readers to feel Ariana's steady decent in to being psychologically crazy. The readers know every action she does so the one's that she commits in private are usually the more crazy ones, and it is clear that towards the end of the book, she starts to becoming psychologically worse.

Everything also happens at a very quick pace, but still very dramatic and easy to follow along.

Its funny to see that most of the characters in the book are oblivious to Ariana's actions. When Dr. Meloni almost sees Ariana with her friends, she starts to have a panic attack which her friends assume is from stress but Ariana knows the real reason.

The series also ended quite well. At first i wasn't happy but then i realized that if it was written any other way, the series probably couldn't end at all. All i can say is it's a happy or sad ending, depending on your feelings about certain characters.

Ariana's psychotic nature is also more apparent in this book, in my opinion, due to her constant efforts to rid herself of one person, Reed. She stalks her and makes a concise schedule of everywhere Reed will be at what time, making sure to note if the path she takes would be a good place to kill her without being seen. That sort of scared me because before, Ariana wasn't this crazy about a murder but in this book, she plans each one out and executes them carefully...well attempting to be careful because things don't always happen as expected.

I thought this was a well written series and if you enjoyed Private, you'll definitely enjoy this book but if you've never heard of Kate Brian, then i would suggest you read Private before starting this series since this is the spin-off series of Private. Private would explain alot of Ariana's past and actions.

Definitely this series is for people that are into suspensful, thriller novels with a hint of romance.

Wow. Almost 8-9 years later and I finally finish this series. That kind of blows my mind. The Privilege series was a spin off from the original series, Private. Private was always in my head from time to time just reminding me of Reed and Noelle and so when I started the Private series, I was really excited to see crazy Ariana Osgood and what shenanigans she would get herself into. Her mind was so twisted yet so interesting to delve into. I had to take a break from the series a few years back and I stopped at the second to last book but I didn't truly understand why. Now I realize after several rereads of other serieses and completing the final books of series This past year that I didn't want to let go of these characters and stories. Reading is such an integral part in my life that I didn't want to let go of the story and especially the characters. But alas, I did it. I purchased the last 2 books, reread the second to last one in preparation for this one and was ready to say goodbye to the gang after a long almost 10 years of memories. It was nice of the author to do a full circle and bring back and mention a lot of the original characters especially in that last chapter. To finally end this long as review/emotional word vomit, I want to say goodbye to Ariana Osgood who has been such a complex yet entertaining character. She was motherf* crazy but only she can pull off this level of crazy and have friends by the end. I will miss you and I hope I finally find out the end to your ending. Peace out Private and Privilege series!!

This was possibly the best book out of the whole series. While you may get annoyed, disgusted & frustrated with Ariana - I do love a good ending.

Writing a psychotic, insane, murder is very hard for a writer because you (that is if you're a good decent person), don't want to imagine the horrors they commit & how they think. Brian gets it down to the note, Ariana justifying her killing rampages & how she constantly feels guilty.

I'm really surprised with how Reed handled Ariana coming after her, & it's always great to know now especially since Private has also ended, that Reed & Josh are still together.

I've always loved Kate Brian's prose & her use of suspense, she has definitely wrote more than your typical high school teenage drama series, it's not so much about money, partying, sex, prestige, like other similar series are - it shows the dark side of that world, & adds in the mystery aspect that is very appealing.

Kate Brian will forever be one of my favorite series writers.

Like another reviewer said, my issue with this book is "Personality Transplants". All around.

Some were slow happening (the Alpha Bitch) others were sudden, like Palmer and the protagonist herself, who, instead of the resourceful, human and very very flawed person she was in the first book, she became a parody of herself (I suspect that the author just wanted to be done with the series, which also explains the dangling plot threads).

I didn't mind so much how the book ended, but rather that it felt like this was a parent's choice between two children - this and the main series (which I intend to pick up eventually).

Other than that, the book is cracktastic, and even though I tore through it, it was unfulfilling, unlike the others. The author is still awesome at upping the ante but this time it was so stupid that I couldn't really, for a moment, believe it to be true. She was just FORCING things that made no sense to cause conflict.

And for that 2.5 stars.

Sigh. Ariana is my favorite kind of lead (well, minus so many murderous instincts): ruthless, smart, funny, adaptable, an active agent in her destiny. Reed is the absolute worst.

I wish Ana would have left that boring, annoying bella alone and gone off to live her millionaire life on another continent. Though certainly one could argue that if she had, she still could have been nabbed for one of her many killings, and/or would have had to do more to keep her secrets.

I wouldn't have wanted an ending where she got thrown back in jail either. Second best to getting away with everything would have been mutually assured destruction of both series' leads; clearly after all the attempts on indestructible Reed in Private the best chance would still be Ariana. As far as I remember, none of Sabine or the Ryan matriarch or Daniel/Paige or Cheyenne or Graham or Cheyenne's mom actually took anyone's life.

Kate Brian set us up from the beginning. Ariana was always meant to die. She escaped prision, she killed Brianna Leigh and she unleashed Kaitlynn Nottingham on the world. And in return she got to attend the best school, join an exclusive society, got the hottest guys and the best opportunities. It was only a matter of time before Karma set in and everything came crashing down. Every time Ariana did something unforgivable she always found a way to blame someone else, which was usually Reed. Ariana truly was a sociopathic psychopath. The plot climaxes when Ariana comes face to face with Reed again years after the rooftop incident at Easton Academy. And Reed finally grows a backbone, saving herself and giving Ariana the ending she deserved.

I really loved this series, but I'm just not happy with the ending. Maybe I would have liked it more if I read all of the Private books; the ones I did read, I read about five years ago so I barely remember them. I don't know, I just feel like so much of this was very out of character for Ariana and she would have thought things through differently.

This series has been a really crazy ride. It's written in an elegant way and is engrossing, full of shocking turns. But this ending is not I was hoping for. This book is enjoyable--even though the beginning was the best part of this esalogy.
I was expecting Ariana to succeed. Not in killing Reed, but in living her new life. But instead the reader gets a confusing ending. Or at least an underwhelming one. I suppose this has always been the author's idea from the beginning, but I counted on Ariana stopping killing (and she has only killed to protect her secret identity in this series, not out of craziness, basically; even if that was what led her to that situation) and going on. Oh, shame.
I've always disliked Reed, by the way.

Call me crazy but in books 1-5 I loved Ariana and sympathized with her character. I wanted Ariana to be successful as Briana Leigh and walk off into the sunset as a Princeton freshman hand -in- hand with Jasper. That all changed in this final book. Without Kaitlyn to make her seem like the sane one, She was just the annoying psycho path she has always been. With the murder of Lexi and her obsession with Reed I began to turn against Ariana, which may have been the authors purpose. It's harded to kill off a loveable character. All in all the story and the writing are good. This overall series is unique to the YA genre. I dont see alot of series on teen serial killers.

So I feel like I should do a little mini review on this series, since I actually ended up liking it way more than I would like to admit. I definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a light, albeit suspenseful and thrilling read. Each book in the series had me constantly needing to find out what happened next, and I wasn't disappointed. That being said (and without giving too much away), I didn't really like the ending, although I do agree that it was the right way to end the series. All and all, I'm giving this series 4/5 stars because it was exactly what I was looking for in a chick lit suspense series, but at times it was just a little too cheesy for my liking.

Just when you think you can't empathize with a psychopath, along comes Ariana Osgood (AKA Emma AKA Breanna Leigh AKA...) She's probably one of the most complex characters I've ever read.

This is definitely the definitive use case where the spinoff is way better than the original series. Seriously, Brian's writing is so good and her story so fascinating that the text wasn't updated to give Ariana a smartphone.

Ending was gorgeous but a little bit rushed. My only beef with this series is I would have loved for it to be longer, and to see some tie-from Book of Spells.

Kate Brian, you're going to have to bring Ariana back to life...

First, I felt sorry for Ariana for what had happened in the past and how she ended up in Brenda T. I admired her effort that she fought her way out from the messy situation since she ran away from Brenda T. She's smart, but not smart enough in the big picture. Since Ariana found out the truth about Kaitlynn, she just wanted a revenge. Too engaged in vengeance and didn't aware of her own strength. She thought she could take down anyone at all but 'behind an able man there are always other able men'. There's a reason why she was locked up in Brenda T. in the first place and I suppose this is why; abnormal mental condition.

This is the last book in the Privilege series, and I'm kinda sad about it! I liked Ariana even though she was totally insane. I wish there was more action in this one, and I'd have liked a more dramatic ending but the ending was still pretty good. I'm just confused about how the Private series is going to go because Noelle and Reed from that series are a part of this one and this series takes place much farther from where that series is, if that makes sense. I hope Kate Brian begins another series in addition to continuing with Private because I love the way she writes!

How saddddd after a long series of reading about Ariana manipulating and murdering innocent people , her ending was so anticlimactic . I guess you can just infer that the people at her school will link her to the accidents but i wish there was an epilogue or something that discusses the aftermath of what happened and how they pieced it together. It would have been justice to see her end up back at Brenda T. Overall i enjoyed the series and id really love to see it at a Netflix mini series or something bc i feel like it has potential, just with a different ending 🥺

Reread - definitely didn't enjoy these as much as the first series this time, and I was glad it was over. How many more people could die?! Yet it is strangely interesting to have such an unreliable narrator as a paranoid delusional narcissistic psychopath.

I'm so mad that this series is over. Way more entertaining than the Private series. It really shouldn't be so much fun to read about a psychopathic murdering teenager :)

I was getting a little nervous near the end of the novel, because this is the last book in the series and it didn’t seem to be wrapping up. But soon all hell broke loose. This series was perfect and the ending couldn’t have been better if I’d written it myself. I’m so sad it’s over!

Loved this spin off series. Ariana is such a believable and likeable psychopath. She is a much better main character than Reed is in the Private books
