Now I know why many had a problem with the ending.... :/
This was a 'mixed reaction ' book to me. I can't genuinely say that I loved reading it, I can't either say that I did not like it.
What I liked about the book was the lyrical writing, the descriptions, the lethargic prose which soothed my turmoil at reading a war story. I loved Marie and Werner, the two protagonists, belonging to enemy countries.

War shares no sympathy to either part of the counterpart! The boy from Germany and the girl from France,two ordinary individual suffer the same torture triggered by the war.The only fortune in their unfortunate life is that they have dream or belief,the light and the radio,for them are the best things in the darkest time.
