She's pretty much the same as at the end of the first book. There's another cliffhanger ending, but I'm not sure it's strong enough to make me read the next book....more

I'm sure it's because I read it in less than an hour so I just didn't get as absorbed in the story as I did when I read the original novel as a child. Still, not a bad way to nostalgically pass my lunch hour. Don't skip the extras in the back, they are wonderful!...more

The world she created was completely believable. It's supposed to be happening right now so she did not set it far enough in the future, but I can absolutely see those things happening in the next 50 years. The world she created was completely believable. The problem is, I just wasn't entertained. I had to force myself to finish the book. If you like dystopian, which I usually do, and sci-fi, then you'll probably like this book. I guess I just didn't like the setting or the characters....more

I was left wanting at the end, there wasn't enough information for me to really feel like the story wrapped up (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but I never wanted to put this book down, it's compulsively readable!
My only real complaint (besides the end) is that the author obviously has no idea how pregnancies work. There is absolutely NO WAY a woman who was 8 months pregnant with twins would have been out in the field during an active FBI investigation: desk work, yes, fieldwork no. Not only would her doctor not allow it, but she'd be as big as a horse and not feel like doing anything that Keller does in the book. Still, suspend your disbelief and enjoy the book!...more

Jason Reynolds is genius. I listened to the audio version and it was perfection. Of course, I had to also page through the print version because the illustrations are not to be missed!
