He again demonstrated a plethora of primary exercises and their variations to focus on pull-up, dips, the abdominals on the bar. Next was the handstand, handstand pushs, levers, and one-arm pull-ups. [image] [image] The Beyond the Bar words of wisdom chapter gave sample workout routines that one can adopt unto their own and advice on frequent, volume, and individual conditioning. This was another good publication by Dragon Door and I would recommend the two-volume Convict Conditioning books by "Coach" Paul Wade. Thanks!...more

Al Kavadlo focused on three exercises: the push-up, the squat, amd the back bridge. He did a great job of explaining the mechanics, focal points, and aims of achievement for each exercise. This book focused on improving overall performance in the areaThis is one of the essential Pavel Tsatsouline workout reference manuals in my opinion. This book focused on improving overall performance in the areas of both strength and flexibility. The book first part of the book focused on Joint Health and Mobility: paradoxical breathing, theory of limit loading, joint mobility and muscle flexibility. These drills targeted the shoulders, arms, wrists, hips, waist, spine health, knees, and ankles.
The second part was strength-focused in regards to enhancing flexibility alongside mobility: active & passive stretching, agonists & antagonists, the ideomotor effect, Ukhtomsky Reflex, tight muscles vs. toned muscles, and more.
Overall this was a great book at increasing performance through flexibility-mobility-strength with the overall aim of preventing injuries. I would recommend anything by Pavel Tsatsouline as his material goes beyond the basics and you actually learn something. Thanks!...more

Each sheet has what exercise you do and the reps, it's that simple. Each page has a "daily tip of advice" that includes such topics as "On Rest Between Sets", "On Nutrition", and "On Shin Training" just as a few examples. The journal has the list of workout plans (New Blood, Veterano, Lockdown) that are taken from the first Convict Conditioning. Also the book gives you an abbreviated progression chart for each of the Big Six Exercises. For a serious student of bodyweight exercises, this journal will only help you track your progress and give sound advice. [image] The book's last advice is "On Moving On:
"All 'systems'--no matter how good--are ultimately prisons. They are confining for the mind and the body. Convict Conditioning is no different. Spend time with the system, absorb what it has to teach. When the time comes for you to change your training, or develop further in a different direction, you must do so. There is no `dogma' in Convict Conditioning. Eventually all students will evolve beyond it, and build their own 'system' to live in for a while."
Highly recommended from Dragon Door Publishing. Thanks!...more

If you have not read the first book, I would recommend do that before undertaking the exercises in this book.
This book builds on the strength foundation and targets smaller/neglected areas. The target areas of this book are the grip strength and fingertip push-ups, the obliques, the "weakest link, the neck", and calf strength. [image] [image] Joint health & rehabilitation, flexibility, mobility, and control are the next big exercises in the book. The last section deals with being healthy, both physically and mentally, and the Eight Laws of Healing.
I think both Convict Conditioning books are great would be a value to anyone. Highly recommended! Thanks!...more

By using tension, you are actually flexing into a stretch.
It sounds impossible "You can't stretch a tense muscle!" But this method makes you wait out your tension and increases flexibility.
This is a very remarkable book and I highly recommend it. Honestly, I recommend anything by Pavel. Thanks!...more

I learned about Positive support neural networking in your hands and feet. I learned why it's important to train without wearing gloves and shoes (or flat Chuck Taylors). I learned how to breath properly and learn how to "Zip up" your body to create relaxed tension. This is a great way tofurther your knowledge with Pavel's excellent training method. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a drastically different workout routine. If you're not convinced, check it out on YouTube. Thanks!...more
