This book was so good, so atmospheric, I felt like I was watching a super creepy Netflix series instead of reading - a literary “a haunting of hill house series, if you will.
Except the ending. Like brah, really? I feel like the author got to the part where it should all tie together in the perfect plot-twist kind of knot but was like “ugh Idk how to do that so we’re gonna go with .

I figured Olivia wasn’t a cat and was a captive but the SCHIZOPHRENIC ASPECT I DID NOT SEE COMING and I loved every second of the last 1/4 of this book - and that’s saying a lot. Usually the ending of a book is anti-climatic, kind of “oh wow it was what I thought kinda stuff but THIS. This was pure gold crime literature.
Yes this ended exactly how I thought it would but do I care??? NO, I loved this so much, I couldn’t put it down.

Especially reading it in todays current societal climate - incels and misogyny is a hot topic - it was, for lack of a better term, “modern and up-to-date without being preachy and “screw the patriarchy vibes. It just highlighted how low we’ve stooped in society, that even the highest form of sadism and hate has a place to feel welcome and basically it makes me want to delete Instagram while.simultaneously has me using the internet to google the black dahlia murder so LOL
