However, the sequel, "Bad Samaritan," doesn't quite live up to the same standard. The reader is immediately introduced to the villain's identity, as well as their motivations and secrets, thereby removing any anticipation or excitement in discovering these elements as the story unfolds. Furthermore, the level of action in the book is noticeably diminished compared to the first installment, which could leave readers who enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the first book feeling underwhelmed. I hope that the next book in the series will be an improvement over this one....more

Instead, thisThe latest addition to the Harry Bauer thriller series is a departure from the usual format of a central mission surrounded by subplots. Instead, this book presents multiple subplots without a clear main storyline. Despite this departure, the story is still engaging and fast-paced, characteristic of Harry Bauer thrillers.
The book opens with a stalker intruding Harry's house but not confronting him. Harry is then tasked with a mission to execute a notorious mob boss, Marco Benini. Then there's a girl who Harry saved from a criminal and gave refuge in his house.
The absence of a central mission may seem like a deviation from the norm, but it doesn't detract from the suspenseful atmosphere. Instead, the multiple subplots intertwine to create a sense of anticipation and uncertainty. The character development of Harry Bauer is also commendable, as he shows his vulnerability in dealing with the stalker and his willingness to help the girl he saved.
I look forward to the next installment in the Harry Bauer series and hope the author continues to experiment with different storytelling formats while maintaining the same level of excitement and tension that fans have come to expect....more

Anticipating a more satisfying experience in the second book, Thin Air, with the inclusion of Jason King, the main protagonist of the author's previous works, I was ultimately let down yet again. Despite an abundance of high-octane action, the gripping intensity that I was hoping for was lacking. Nevertheless, it should be noted that one positive aspect of this series is its brevity, making for a fast and easy read....more

He eLee Child is known for his signature style of crafting gripping storylines with a gradual buildup of tension that culminates in a breakneck pace. He expertly weaves in clever and humorous dialogue, all while depicting his protagonist, Reacher, as a formidable force who takes down scores of villains.
In this particular novel, Reacher finds himself in the middle of a mystery once again, as he is unwittingly mistaken for a private investigator named Keever by Keever's colleague, Chang. Reacher decides to assist Chang in her search for Keever, only to stumble upon a horrifying crime in the small town of Mother's Rest.
As always, Child's storytelling is compelling and intense, drawing the reader in with every twist and turn of the plot. The character of Reacher is once again portrayed as a skilled and unrelenting hero, as he confronts danger head-on and takes on a group of dangerous criminals. Overall, this is a thrilling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end....more

This trend is evident in his Scott Stiletto series, and it seems to have continued with his, Wicked City, which is the second book in the Sam Raven series. While the first book in the series was a gripping and tense thriller, the same cannot be said for Wicked City. The plot of this novel revolves around a mob boss who is conspiring to install a new District Attorney who is on his payroll. Several individuals who become aware of the scheme are being targeted and killed, and Raven volunteers to intervene to save them. Unfortunately, the story lacks the same level of engagement and excitement that the first book provided, leaving me somewhat disappointed. Given the author's track record, I hope for a more exceptional literary experience in future books in the series....more

Scott is back, returning to the mysterious organisation called the Trust, and taking on the mission of removing the Mexican cartel's connection in the US. However, the stakes were not as high as in previous books, and Stiletto deals with them with ease. The other characters in the story weren't developed much, despite having potential. Overall, the book was a decent read, but it didn't quite live up to the high standards set by earlier books in the series. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next installment....more

It's as good as an original story with only names taken from the Puranic story of Durga. The characters, their motives, their backstory, their strength, weaknesses, all are fictional, but in an entertaining way. The book is a little over 200 pages and moves at a breakneck speed. There's no dull moment and action on almost every page. Pick it up if you find the price worth it....more

This book masterfully ties together all the elements from the previous installments, culminating in an epic finale. The SPIRE has been breached and Charlie Team is in peril. Devin Gray is the protagonist and he's lost his mother but at no point you'll feel anything about him. Because even the author doesn't care to develop the character. Then there's a mystery of the young girls being killed by wolves from local woods, which Stone solves along the way. There's little room for fluff which I liked the most. Though Stone is a former black ops and can kill with ease, the body count is just too high given it's a small town. Also, he keeps killing people repeatedly and the police doesn't bat an eyelid.
